Okay guys, I need some help coming up with ways to keep my character flaw in effect. It seems that the DM wants to see how far I'm willing to go with my flaw and I want to hear from the rest of you of what future obstacles he could throw my way and how I can roleplay my way out of it.

My character flaw is that no matter what, whenever he kills another character with a weapon, he abandons the weapon he used to kill that person/monster/whatever and then uses the weapon of the felled creature until it is used to kill something else. For example, if I have a longsword, and kill someone with a mace, I throw away the longsword and pick up the mace to kill my next opponent, and so on and so forth. And since I thought it'd be an interesting character to play, I also made it so he can't buy any weapons from a shop or pick one up from a dead monster he didn't kill. It has to be his previous opponent's weapon.

NOW, my DM is testing me. The first thing he did was pit me against a guy without a weapon who used his fists. I quickly did away with him and cut off his hands, making a pair of REALLY shitty gloves. It was fucking hard fighting after that, but I managed to get a basic dagger after beating a goblin to death.

Then... we went up against a giant. Sadly, I got in the killing blow and thus I had to try to lug his huge fucking club around. But this time I outsmarted the DM by having one of the other characters carve two smaller clubs from the big thing. I mean, it's still the same weapon, right?

So, fa/tg/uys, any ideas and how he's going to try and fuck over my character the next time?

    Sorcerer with no weapons.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)13:18 No.750203
Cut off their hands, jam your weapon in their stump, strangle them, pick up your weapon, repeat.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)13:18 No.750204

Maybe I could cut off his head and bludgeon someone to death with it?
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)13:18 No.750205
Probably just a guy with fire.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)13:19 No.750208
Except he was attacking you by inflicting his will on the universe. He never really used his head as a weapon.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)13:21 No.750209

An interesting idea, but the flaw revolves around my character's deep religious belief that the spirits of those he's killed will search him out through the weapon they've bled on. So he only uses the same weapon once.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)13:22 No.750213
Ok, seriously, if you chose the stupid ass flaw it's not the DM fucking over your character, allright.

He hasn't thrown anything at you that a normal party wouldn't have faced, you just hosed yourself with a dumb idea.

IF he was trying to fuck you up, he'd besiege you with sap-weilding grig. Have fun killing something with 1d3 subdual damage at -4 to hit.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)13:22 No.750215
What if you fight a primordial ooze?

or a robot that shoots lasers out of its eyes and once killed explodes into tiny pieces?
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)13:23 No.750219

Well dang, you've got me there. And he can't really use his bare fists due to his whole belief system and such.

How about if I cut out his will?
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)13:24 No.750221
    He'll make you fight Ignus.
You'll have to light your character on fire.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)13:26 No.750229
He'll make you fight an incorporeal creature. Good luck with that.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)13:28 No.750231

    >primordial ooze

    Are those things even alive?
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)13:28 No.750233
    Look out! Gelatinous cube!
    >> Blacksheepcannibal 10/29/07(Mon)13:32 No.750239
Flaw: Great and interesting if you fight medium sized armed humanoids.

Flaw: Stupid to -always- try to emulate whatever attack your last enemy had.

I'm sure your character would distinguish between natural attacks and somebody using a weapon. Or, what happens when it's a sorcerer using spells, or a psion killing you with mind bullets?

Interesting flaw, really, but keep it to weapons your character can know how to use. No cutting off a dogs head and using it like a hand puppet with bite attacks if you kill a dog.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)13:33 No.750241
Theres always a 10' by 10' space for Jello!
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)13:34 No.750244

Oh shi- I don't think I'm quite HardKKKore enough for that yet. Maybe if I wear some kind of fire resistance ring.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)13:39 No.750256

Dogs don't count because they won't have souls thirsting for his blood after they die... or would they?

God damn hellhounds. But I will take your advice and perhaps work something out with the DM.
    >> Piotyr !zH6hFxVy6Q 10/29/07(Mon)16:39 No.750769
Watch out for the goblin sappers. They'll fuck you over hard kore. End of character.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)16:43 No.750783
What if the DM gives you a cursed weapon that you CAN'T throw away?
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)16:43 No.750784

Fuck, and there's always a shitload of goblin encounters whenever we go from town to town. It's inevitable.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)16:44 No.750786
When fighting someone without a weapon, don't finish them off. Cut off his limbs, sleeper hold him, beat him unconscious with a club, or butt end of a sword, whatever. Then, leave it to another member of the party to coup de gras him.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)16:44 No.750789
You can still kill a person with a sap, do enough damage to knock them out and then continue hitting them, these hits now count as lethal damage.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)16:45 No.750795
If that's the problem, he wouldn't really have to use their weapon, just get a new one.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)16:47 No.750799
You don't know what goblin sappers are, do you?
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)16:48 No.750801
How about a guy with one bottle of alchemist's fire?
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)16:48 No.750802

Then ensues a long ass quest on how to get this fucking item off of me. He's actually already done that with a mace.

I did that a few times so far with the group. The DM doesn't mind, but he will throw encounters my way while I'm all alone.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)16:53 No.750815

If I'm alone then I'm pretty much boned.

True, it was actually the DMs idea that he can't buy weapons at stores. Something about 'appeasing the dead with more dead' or some shit. Perhaps I could talk about that and carry around a few extra weapons in case I run into any big trouble.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)16:53 No.750816
You might want to look into a Dragonshard Pommel Stone from the Forge of War. Basicaly it lets you enchant a stone with weapon enhancements (at 125% the lost) and then attach the stone to any weapon you want, giving said weapon the powers that the stone was enchanted with. Later you can ditch the weapon and keep the stone to place in a new weapon.
    >> Lord Licorice 10/29/07(Mon)16:55 No.750820
    >whenever he kills another character
    >spirits of those he's killed will search him out through the weapon they've bled on.

I take it he doesn't think the spirits will follow him if they bleed on his weapons, but aren't given the final blow? If so, >>750786

If it's about the blood in general, and you can get hold of a weapon that doesn't result in blood staining the weapon - some kind of nonpiercing damage that isn't going to splatter the enemy, or a bow, since the blood is on the arrows - he may be able to circumvent the flaw.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)17:03 No.750847

It's really about the whole killing blow thing. It's just a paranoia that makes him think that ghosts will track him through the weapon that killed them in order to haunt their killer.

You know, I never did try out many ranged weapons... usually just darts or throwing axes. But perhaps I could rule my way through using a bow multiple times if he's nice enough.

Thanks guys, this is pretty good advice.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)17:07 No.750863

Sounds like an awesome item and is relevant to my interests.

You mean you didn't cut off the arms, harden it with embalming fluid and use it as a club? You fail.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/07(Mon)17:28 No.750934
This flaw is not as interesting as you claimed, anonymous.
