Assuming that Uberstadt is on another dimension, you should be fine.

If not, get a Wizard with a Gate spell. Quick.

    >DM: You have 1d12+6 minutes before all reality is erased.

That's not what the DM's supposed to do. He's supposed to keep quiet and watch as the PCs recuperate and celebrate after having slain a demigod. Then, after 1d12+6 minutes, he informs the PCs that the sphere has erased all existence on the Material Plane (and possibly every other plane as well, since the description DOES say "everything in existence" and "all existence"). Game over, you lose, no continues, thank you for playing.

Also, I find it funny that the aftereffects of the Kyuss-summoning ritual are actually a billion times more dangerous than Kyuss himself.

Except that the book explicitly mentions that the gods would PROBABLY be interested in intervening to prevent that once the Worm that Walks has been dealt with.

I'm more amused that you can just send the whole damneded thing to a different dimension and go home, so long as you don't care about apocalypsing another world you don't care about.

If it affects all planes instead of just the Material Plane, then sending it to a different plane isn't going to help much.

As a PC, I'd high five and claim fucking victory if that happened. Because it's not like the DM can run or play any game using that system ever again-- after all, we destroyed the ENTIRE GODDAM MULTIVERSE, FUCK YEAH!

Or he can admit that he pulled some plotcrap out of his ass to nullify our victory.

    Either way is Win.

The wording of this is weird.
On one hand, it says everything in the Material Plane.
On the other hand, it says it erases all existence.

I think it's supposed to be Prime Material only, since I'm fairly sure they would have mentioned it sucking in the other planes.

Yup, I checked. Christopher Edwin summons the Worm that Walks to deal with the players.

Earlier in the chapter (in the EL 15 portion of the timeline), they point out that a fuckup between the Sphere of Annihilation and the Well of Many Worlds may "erase the world and perhaps all worlds". So it seems that there's a possibility that the whole damn multiverse divides by zero.

Well, the cage can't be moved, is 10'x10'x10', compared to the sphere's 2' diameter. The sphere will draw in the air near it, but be stopped by the immovable walls. The only problems I see are what to do when forcecage ends or the sphere being moved, I'd assume from gravity, but if it is like a black hole and as dense as one, that would take quite a while.

    From the SRD

Like a wall of force spell, a forcecage resists dispel magic, but it is vulnerable to a disintegrate spell, and it can be destroyed by a sphere of annihilation or a rod of cancellation.

    You're still fuxxed

Seeing as how the sphere can transcend dimensional and interplanar boundaries, I still don't think a Forcecage can deter it.

    [Spoilers ahoy!]

In the Call of Cthulhu campaign "Shadows of Yog-Sothoth", there's a chapter called "The Worm that Walks", in which a Mi-Go pretends to be an aged scholar on the PCs' side, named Christopher Edwin. He does this to lure them into a series of deadly traps. Firstly, he tells them a clue they need is in a house which is supposedly haunted. It is in fact occupied by a family of psychopathic cannibals, who are very handy with shotguns and axes. The uninjured survivors of this are sent on a relaxing boat-trip, where a Shoggoth attacks them. The injured ones are sent to a private hospital, where Edwin sends The Worm That Walks to finish them off. It's a horrible, corpse-like monster that disguises itself as a human to get into the investigator's rooms and devours their souls.

I presume the OP's image is a reference to this scenario.
    >> Anonymous 02/07/08(Thu)16:49 No.1133551
What if you gated the black hole to the far realm? Outside existence = A OK.
    >> Anonymous 02/07/08(Thu)16:50 No.1133559
    >>1133532
Where are you getting this? The only thing close that I can see is that it's a "hole in the continuity of the multiverse," but that's pretty vague.
    >> Anonymous 02/07/08(Thu)16:51 No.1133563
    >>1133559
"Should a gate spell be cast upon a sphere of annihilation, there is a 50% chance (01-50 on d%) that the spell destroys it, a 35% chance (51-85) that the spell does nothing, and a 15% chance (86-100) that a gap is torn in the spatial fabric, catapulting everything within a 180-foot radius into another plane. If a rod of cancellation touches a sphere of annihilation, they negate each other in a tremendous explosion. Everything within a 60-foot radius takes 2d6×10 points of damage. Dispel magic and mage’s disjunction have no effect on a sphere."

They're sent to a house filled with cunning, psychotic cannibals, armed with shotguns and axes, who are warned about the PC's coming. It is enormously deadly. Especially when the PCs' go there expecting a small haunting. A TPK is very much a possibility.

I meant the survivors of this part of the scenario. The uninjured ones are given a cruise to calm their nerves. The injured ones are sent to hospital.

See >>1133563. Gating it causes everything in a 180-foot radius to be catapulted into another plane. As well, if it destroys the whole multiverse instead of just the Material Plane, you're fucked.

    >>1133632

The "correct" way to destroy it is to touch it with a Rod of Cancellation.

I dunno, the opening end of a bag of holding is 2 feet, and the sphere of annihilation is 2 feet, so it'd touch the sides (annihilating the bag) trying to get it in.
