    Sup fa/tg/uys

Ok, so at some point in the near future I'm planning on making an ANGRY MARINES army. Problem is, I'm not exactly sure how the ANGRY MARINES' squad markings work and can't seem to find any info on this anywhere.

Also, what other specifics should I know about converting and painting this chapter?
    >> Anonymous 03/09/08(Sun)01:36 No.1304088
I doubt painting the chapter will be taken kindly. It's an in-joke, not meant for tabletop.

    >>1304146

Then just give everyone you can a Chainfist and either a bolter, heavy bolter, or flamer. And overwhelm them with numbers.

The only thing you can have vehicle-wise is Dreads, since Whirlwind troop launchers won't work (except in Apocalypse).

Do ANGRY MARINES ever use just plain Whirlwinds? I can model them as troop launchers and use them as regular Whirlwinds in normal games, and use them as troop launchers in casual and Apocalypse games.

Whirlwinds mean someone's not fighting. And that's as bad as Heresy when you're an Angry Marine.

A proper AM army will only use drop pods to deploy into battle. Anything else takes too long.

A proper AM army will also ONLY use plasma weapons. This is to simulate their famous tendency to get so angry while shooting and not closing into melee that they occassionally explode.

As much as I would love to model every marine with a Chainfist, Powerboots, and Plasma weapons, it simply wouldn't work. See >>1304146

And ok, Whirlwinds as base choices are out. Drop podding everything is in.

What would be some good bits to use as Powerboots? Are there any Space Marine models that had obnoxiously big feet I can convert?

As stated in the other thread, you can't do this legally. You just need the ridiculous, outlandish weapons that make the AM what they are. The explosive Terminator Power Fists, the Dreadnought with double-melta-fists or chainsword arms with exploding teeth. Heavy Weapons consist of running up to the enemy in close combat and shooting them in the face with a grenade launcher point-blank. Fuck that, EVERY marine should have a grenade launcher, to be used only in close combat. The only guy without a weapon is the standard bearer, because a guy with a big fucking pole doesn't NEED any other weapons. Make it a Power Standard and use it to shred tanks.

    3) ???

From the historical records of Inquisitor Jangel, non-aligned investigator of Adeptus Astartes 'Incidents'.
Section #511: The 'Friendly' Fire Incident of Klaxus XII.
    +++++

The records of this dire moment in Imperial History were (until I came upon them) known only to the two Space Marine Chapters that took part in the skirmish. However, only by putting the two records together is the truth found.

The Pretty Marines tell of a conflict fraught with glory against the odds, and of dire betrayal: "Before the sortie against our enemy our glorious Chapter-Master graced us with a speech, before the resplendent lines of Brother-Marines sparking under the twin suns he told of beautiful victory, of the fates of our enemies. As one we cheered, then awaited his inevitable dance number. From the skies fell a drop pod, smashing into our forward lines and engulfing the area with thick dust. It took us only a moment to clear the air with our blow-dryers, but it was a moment too late as we saw the Chapter-Master fallen..."

The Angry Marines tell the other side of the story, though in far less words due to a lacking in vocabulary beyond many four letter cusses. Hastily inserted into the annals of their chapter glory is simply a picture with the words "OWNED" across it, and the image of the Pretty Marines Chapter Master unconscious on the ground, a crude moustache drawn on his face with paint, and what appears to be a set of testicles on his forehead.

So began the greatest feud in Imperial History.

Thought for the day: Ruthlessness is the kindness of the wise.

Assuming I get a 5 man squad, how should I model them? They're all getting CCW and Bolt pistols with the Sergeant getting a power/chainfist. Should the CCWs be chainswords or should i model planks with nails, baseball bats, Ass-Tuners and the like in place of them?

I posted a 1500 point army here a while back that I had made.

Model them how you see fit, as long as it's clear that they are either armed with just a bolter or a bolt pistol and ccw. I've used some Imp Guard pieces as close combat weapons, including pickaxes and shovels. For one I even modelled a brick.

For modelling, I file the aquilla of the chest. Prime with Chaos Black. Then use a Iyandsen Darksun Foundation across the entire torso, legs, head, and power pack. For the arms I only paint the forearms in this colour, and on the shoulderpads only the inset area. Two coats should be needed for consistency of this.

Then I'll paint over the inset of the shoulderpads with Blood Red (goes down beautifully over the foundation).

With a 20/0 brush I'll paint the piping on the helmet chaos black, and the soft-armour (behind the knees, around the hips) chaos black. And then paint on the angry face onto one shoulderpad (can't remember if this one goes on the right or left...my minis are not in front of me and I can't be stuffed going to get them). Also do parts of the powerpack in black.

Using the 20/0 I'll also do the eyes in blood red.

For weaponary, drybrush of boltgun metal is your friend. Almost every weapon can be painted quickly in this manner effectively.

When writing your army, for your traits take as a notable divergence "No Mercy, No Respite", "Take the Fight to Them" and "Eye to Eye". Pretty much the main thing to keep in mind with these traits is that any space marine may swap his bolter for a bolt pistol + ccw for free. VITAL when against 4th ed Chaos!

Here's a 1000 point army to get you started. Good luck, OP.

    part one:
Invented during the great /tg/ founding of space marine chapters. These Marines are the personification the emotional rage held within the hearts of most Space Marines: Anger. As such, everything annoys an Angry Marine, particularly their greatest rivals the Pretty Marines and the traitorous Emomarines. Their founding in unknown, and heavily contested. Many Anonymous chose to believe that they are a 1st or second founding chapter, others claim they are Cursed Founding and even a small few Anonymous suggest that Angry Marines are loyalist Marines using World Eaters geneseed. Invariably, that Anonymous gets told to STFU.

On the battlefield an Angry Marines force it best represented with either Blood Angels rules or Codex Space Marine rules with the No Mercy, No Respite (In order to give Tactical and Assault Marines the Furious Assault special rules) and Take the Fight to Them (To give models Chainswords and Bolt Pistols) and the drawback Eye to Eye (Restricts use of bikes and so on).

    >>1304075
    part two:

The Angry Marines favor plasma-based weaponry in almost every situation (the reasoning being that Angry Marines can get so angry they literally explode while screaming torrents of curses at their enemies during the shooting phase) though some Anonymous also claim that they favor the Heavy Bolter as it is the "angriest" of the bolters. Anonymous agrees that the Power Fist is the favored weapon of all sergeants and officers within the chapter. Anonymous also agrees that Drop Pods are the most appropriate form of deployment/transport for Angry Marines, as they are too angry to wait for the Thunderhawks to drop them off.
    >> Anonymous 03/09/08(Sun)19:43 No.1307782
    >>1304075
    Part fucking three:

The only assault weapons that are appropriately angry enough for an Angry Marine are the Plasma Gun and the Flamer. The only Heavy Weapons are Plasma Cannons and Heavy Bolters. If at any time a model can trade their Boltgun for a Bolt Pistol and CCW, do it. Bolters are angry, but Chainswords are angrier.

Angry Marines. Always angry, all the time. >:C

Wouldn't their Termies favor Chainfists over regular powerfists?

After all, Chainfists are even angrier than powerfists as they combine powerfists with chainswords. If so, you could say that the AM reserve the angriest of all weapons for the most skilled and angry of all those in the chapter.
