207 KB Noh in Shadowrun? Anonymous 04/16/08(Wed)20:20 No.1545250
    Hello /tg/
I'm mastering Shadowrun here, I really liked Noh and I 'd like to do something similar to my players.
Unfortunately, it don't fit in Shadowrun's universe...

Do you have any idea of something I could do to a similar effect?

WTF is noh? GM shadowrun like its suppose to, you machinegun cops, and zombies, and zombie cops. thats it. You drink beer while you play.

Thats the recipe for any successful Shadowrun session.

The trouble being that the circumstances are the hard part. Shadowrunners are expected to be cynical in-game, not just via metagaming. And it's not like you can duplicate the "random dungeon, self-employed on your own schedule" social circumstance with a breaking and entry for Mr. Johnson. This makes the "Lost A.I." scenario more appealing.

Then again, maybe you can. Try having Mr. Johnson give them a job to break into a vault owned by a crazed doomsday cult that killed themselves off a few minutes before the apocalypse was supposed to happen some ten years back. They get half of whatever the take is, and Mr. Johnson already knows the vault's hidden location. The catch is that while there are no outside security measures, the vault itself is difficult to get into. The cult designed it to release the "secrets of the fallen empires of old" in stages to the post-apocalyptic survivor who passed each "trial of enlightenment", thus demonstrating they were capable of wielding the power responsibly. The runners can work at their own pace, though fast results=bonus take and if there's been a week with no progress he'll likely hire someone else.

    Noh's the fourth trial.

    I just read it.
It's very good, the escaped clone body with no memory that escaped could easily be done in shadowrun..
And the johnson could hire them to retrieve it to complete the brain swapping operation (but without telling them why they must retrieve her at first) and the runners will have to choose to let him do or not...
    >> Anonymous 04/16/08(Wed)22:07 No.1545892
Make noh simply a cyborg construct with no known origin or production information, and the sole guardian of a server the runners have to steal, left abandoned in the middle of some desolated ghetto.
You really don't need to complicate and make Noh some stupid sex puppet/killer robot/etc thing, because the fun part is having a group of traditionally heartless bastards adopt and protect a kid. Now they have another reason to go on runs other than feeding their addiction to cyberware, foci, and various drugs.
Hell, it might give them a reason to clean up, even for a strange little robot girl who probably has the beginnings of a simplistic AI groowing in her.

And as the pain in his body escalates, he turns to his 'daughter'... the little girl with a blank stare whom he just saved from certain death.
Noh looks at the wounded warrior, curious and seemingly looking for an emotion. The warrior coughs up blood, further increasing the party's anxiety as they look upon him.
"Noh... I'm so glad you're safe. Do not cry for me, for this is another facet of life you must learn." He reels in agony as he speaks. "Before I go, I want you to know that I, no WE love you. You are our daughter, our family."
Noh's gaze pierces the warrior deeply, taking him great amounts of strength to hold his tears back. "Alas... this is the end. Noh... can you smile for me...?"
The little girl looks around, confused and troubled. She then looks straight at the poor warrior and says
    "Please don't take the items."
    He then died painfully.

    this made me "AWWWWWWWWWW :*("

server is basically my placeholder for "put loot here", but it can be whatever.
the key concept is giving your traditionally schizophrenic, violent, doped up shadowrunners something to actually feel some level of happiness and warmth about. I tbrings a good balance to things. Of course it'd be hard to maintain "realism" without occasionally putting Noh in danger but this shouldnt be the "HAHAHA my players are finally attatched to something so now I'll destroy it!" Dm shtick. I hate that crap.

OP here, I'll try to stay close to the original...
So I think I'll go with the little girl cyborg with a very simple but learning-capable AI who simply say "No" and "Please, do not take this item" at first.
And I'll put all this in an abandoned corporate facility with active security trap/sentries that my players will have to explore...
For the item in question, I'm not entirely settled yet. Something that must be valuable, but it should be capable of benefit to Noh. Maybe some kind of magic old-ass artifact who *could* give her "life" (as in unlimited source of energy, not Pinocchio-like crap. Even if it would kinda feel like it to my players).
Or some kind of related technology, but I have no good idea for now...

Anyway, I'm pretty sure at least one of my players will fuck it and everything will go to drek.

Pics: Not Noh, but she's a loli with the blank expression I want.

They will just translate it as some kinda spam-macro-spewing robot and kill mercilessly part it out for more ammo-money.

Its gotta be something soft and squishy, like a small child, maybe a small child with cybernetic lobotomizing implants, not a fuckin android. Android= toaster. and thats how your PC's will treat it.
