    Hello /tg/

I'm thinking of starting my own WH40K army, but with a Command and Conquer Brotherhood of Nod theme.
Right now I can't decide on whether I should use the Imperial Guard (C&C1 Nod Army) or Chaos Space Marines (C&C2 Cabal Army).

So, what're some good conversion ideas and army lists to make an effective Nod army in the WH40K universe?
    >> Anonymous 06/17/08(Tue)16:55 No.2019091
    Brotherhood of Nod?

I dunno, you could do either.

Go BoN origins (C&C 1) with IG, or futuristic (ala C&C 2, 3) BoN with CSM.

So... you tell OP to do what he already suggested. Smooth move, scrotumgobbler.

Standard IG for normal NOD stormtroopers for the cabal'ish, then you can have cake and eat it too

I dunno why, but I lol'd so fucking hard.

If you wish to do BoN, I'd suggest using C&C 3, which would look like a combination of Cadian, Catachan, and Knights (Either Brettonia or Empire, I don't think it really matters). That gives you Militia squads, Confessors, and those spies that fly.

Give me a minute and I'll go look over the rest of the units. I'm guessing you'd use a lot of heavily converted Salamanders for the Flame Tanks, and Leman Russes converted to fast tanks (No side sponsons on the tank).
    >> Anonymous 06/17/08(Tue)17:08 No.2019189
    Why not do both.

    That would work well.

I'm going primarily from memory here. Anyone throw up a link that would show all of the units? I could be more help that way.

If I planned to use the army in real games of WH40K, and without house rules, how many non-IG army pieces could I feasibly use?
I'm pretty new to the game, just downloaded IG codex last night, and it doesn't look like they get any attack bikes, which certainly fit into Nod military doctrine.

A lot of the lists contain repeats, and stuff from the Red Alert series.

That'll work. Rymr's ideas are pretty decent. Will continue to help OP as best I can with ideas.

    Okay, going from the wiki:

First up is the Advanced Flame Tank: You'll need a Hellhound, an Eldar tank, and a set of flame launchers. It would work even better if you managed to give the main tank two sets of treads (ie, two on the left, two on the right, body moves independently of the treads).

Armageddon: It's a bit of a conversion work with a Valkyrie and a shit ton of greenstuff and Plasticard, but if you're determined and somewhat decent at it, then it'll work.

Attack Bike: Wait for the Space Marine Scout bikers to come out. They are slimmer and seemingly sleeker than their heavier cousins. You'll need the Missile Launchers from the Land Speeder Tornado kit (Or the DA upgrade, which is plastic and easier to handle), plus Eldar bikes and plasticard for the top and side armor.

Avatar: This is going to take some work, determination and a shit ton of money. You'll need a Defiler, Plasticard, a Basilisk (Or alternatively, a Hammer head), and greenstuff. The Basilisk cannon (Or Tau Ion Cannon) can be converted to the beam cannon for the arm, while the defiler will give you the legs and the claw arm (You'll need to create stable feet out of the sentinels feet, so get ready for a lot of conversion). The body is the remainder Basilisk body (or Hammer head body, I would find it's look sleek), and plasicard.

Black Disciples: Probably an eaiser conversion. It consists of taking a modern looking knight (Perhaps Chaos warrior legs or something similar?) and combining it with Cadian chests and arms, with a little green stuff to give the arms more armor. Make sure they have flamers if you want to keep them consistent with the feel of the army.

    Hahahaha! Space Marines...

Everybody knows the best way to represent Nod is the Dark Eldar!

    >>2019212

Do the heads fit the cadians?
    >> Shas'o R'myr !!TZikiEEr0tg 06/17/08(Tue)18:09 No.2019517
    >>2019512

They should. A friend uses pig iron heads on his cadians.
    >> The Former CC !KV3AHi5DOQ 06/17/08(Tue)18:21 No.2019616

Pig Iron does amazing work. And it fits Cadian and Guardsman bodies from GW.

    >>2019459

    Continued:

Commando: This is your hero unit, so make it pretty. You'll need a female body (Which is rare in GW. I'd look to an Eldar Witch clipped and converted), Two pistols, and some explosives.

Confessor: Heavily armored infantry with tall, four eyed visor helmets. I'd suggest Kasrkin, with Bretonnian crusader type helms altered to have four eyes instead of a slit. Be sure to keep the look consistent between Confessors. And don't forget hallucinogen grenades. Perhaps the Shadowseer could help?

Enlightened: These would be you're ogryns. Big heavy cyborgs. Look into penitent engines with heavy alteration. Perhaps Wraithgaurd for the heads, again heavily altered. You'll also need two small cannons for the arms.

Fanatics: Run and go boom. Empire militia with triggers in the hands, and boxes on their chests. Make them glow green.
    >> The Former CC !KV3AHi5DOQ 06/17/08(Tue)18:57 No.2019873
    >>2019616

    Further.

Rocket Militia: Cadian or Catachan Heavy Weapons Squads for the rocket launchers. The bodies will need to be robed, so go for something like priests. Give them Cadian Helmets and you're golden.

Militants: Basic Infantry. Cadians, Catachan, Empire Militia, and anything else you feel might make them each unique and Nod worthy (Keeping to the theme of ragtag fighters.)

Raider Buggy: Rymr's idea is good, but the buggy is far more angular than that. I'd go with a plasticard body, or perhaps an Eldar Raider platform with plasticard. Stubber on the rear and you're good. Perhaps give it something looking like an EMP device (Check Tau and the Macragge set.)

Reckoner: APC. I'd suggest the Guard APC, but it's a half tracked vehicle. Look into orks for the half track, and plasticard to make it sleek and more caterpillar-y.

Redeemer: THIS would be your warlord titan. It would take some heavy conversion to make it. I couldn't even begin to think of what it would entail.

Saboteur: Combat Engineer Stratagem. Walking domed helmets would work well with an enclosed gaurd like suit. Perhaps a Marine body and greenstuffed legs and arms to make it look enclosed.

Scorpion: Eldar tank body minus the wings, plus a long barreled cannon of to the side of the cockpit. Tri-tracked, so two small forward treads and a longer track on the back.

Shadow Team: This is a tough. You need them to be sleek. They need two pistols, a flight pack (or glider wings), and some specialized equipment.

Specter: Your basilisk. Same as the scorpian tank, but with a highly specialized cannon. You need a defiler for the claws that clamp it into the ground.

Stealth Tank: Sentinel with extended cab, Eldar wings to hide the third rear track. Two forward tracks and twin missile launchers. Don't forget plasitcard.
    >> The Former CC !KV3AHi5DOQ 06/17/08(Tue)19:04 No.2019924
    >>2019873

    Two or three more units:

Tiberium Trooper: Look into the confessor, Use Kasrkin or heavily modified Cadians (Make them enclosed suits) with altered flamers. Chemical throwers with no flame, so perhaps something from the Homonculus weapon.

Venom: This one is tough. Look into a Comanche kit that would fit the 40K universe. Twin linked lasers, a mirror on the bottom. Tiny wings of plasticard and giant engines.

Vertigo: Flying wing. Look into the B-2 Spirit with plasitcard. It looks pretty similar.

That's about all I can figure out. My minds stretched a little with ideas, but that would be as close to it as I can figure.

I'll go ahead and archive the thread at suptg so it will be accessible to future generations of /tg/ers.
