Do you wanna feel SO AWESOME?

Awesome game for players who need GRATUITOUS AMOUNT OF AWESOME.

Fill up a character sheet and be a SOLAR. Solar Hero Style, you'll punch people so far they'll be asking for directions TO FAIR FOLK.

ANOTHER WYLD HUNT! Because you have just WASTED THE LAST ONE.

What’s that? You want RAGE? Well how about LUNARS? They kill people. WITH THEIR BEAR HANDS. Combat (aaahhhhhh!). They're good at it. Get Relentless Lunar Fury, and you'll be unstoppable. UNBEARABLE. These aren’t your mentor’s puns, these are essence puns. MOTONIC PUNS.

Magitech, Genesis, Fire, Air, Wood, Earth, Water, more craft skills than YOUR CHARSHEET HAS ROOM FOR. You’ll craft so much, Unconquered Sun will be like, "Sloooooowwww dooowwwwnn." And you’ll be like, "Fuck you!" and KICK him in the face with your WARSTRIDER BOOTS.

You’ll have so much essence, essence (aaaahhhhh!) just stunting all the time. Power stunting, power figthing, power socialing, power planning, power casting, power questing, power summoning DEMONS. You’ll have so many DEMONS. 400 demons.

Get lots and lots of backgrounds and you'll have HUGE PEOPLE. Make your people fight MASS COMBAT. They’ll fight as hard as THE REALM. People will watch them figthing and think they’re THE REALM. They’ll fight as well as THE REALM. in a battle against THE REALM. and it’ll be a tie, and they’ll get deported back to THE BLESSED ISLE.

Hey, go with the sure thing. Don’t gamble on your roleplaying (botched!). Try EXALTED, the game that will make you (aaahhh!) awesome (aaahhh!)

You really don't understand the concept of "perfect defense", do you?

It is the exception to EVERYTHING. If the Exalt has to fucking fly backwards a mile or two to dodge the explosion, they will.
    >> Local Exaltedfag 09/06/08(Sat)20:10 No.2519107
Too bad in Exalted a perfect defense is perfect.

The funny thing is, the Exalted rules system doesn't support exception-based design.

Defense trumps offense. A perfect defense defeats any kind of attack. Even attacks that would kill a solar outright, destroy his soul, deprive him of magic, or make him non-awesome.

The text from Heavenly Guardian Defense says "perfectly defends against any attack". This is an attack. I can block it.

I don't think its too bad. The players just have to dodge the sword, and if anything holding it instantly becomes mortal, then an exalt should be able to run fucking circles around them. I think its an interesting concept to base a game around. And if your PC's have fun during the story, then all is well.

I was thinking about playing exalted just a little while ago. But the thing was, I wanted to play a mortal, with awakened essence at most.

Cause while any solar can be AWESOME and save creation in an epic struggle that carved a path across the land out of dead behemoths and the thousands of women he's seduced along the way, a mortal could do the same thing, if he was really smart and very careful.

And at the end of the day, he could say he did it all without perfect defenses and giant phallic daiklaives and world-shattering sorcery. That would be my kind of challenge.

Like much of Exalted's best fluff, it's open-ended, mainly for ST purposes, also because the game creators can't always wrap their minds around what they're talking about in Exalted.

Some have speculated it is one of the Primordials.

Others that it is Creation itself, being played as a game.

Certainly, it seems to be addictive enough that only the Primordials could play it without growing almost entirely lax in their duties in Creation. Unlike the Incarnae, who have given up their jobs to play WoW.

But guys, the thing about Exalted is, they were the best a human could be even before they Exalted. Take the magic away, and what you're left with is not a weakling, but a plain, ordinary, completely normal, mundane BADASS.

So what if their flesh is as the flesh of any ordinary mortal before the ordinary sword? They'll take the stab in their guts, and then FLEX THEIR ABS SO HARD IT GETS STUCK.

Then they'll PUNCH YOUR HEAD OFF.

    The Gods don't Choose pussies.

You miss the entire point of the god damn sword. It isn't to kill people. It's a plot device. IT IS THE SWORD THAT COULD RENDER GODS MORTAL TO IT'S BLOWS ALONE. Except the act of wielding it turns you into a sucky mortal yourself.

Everyone would seek it, but it would turn out to be useless in any logical sense.

It's more of an lol item than anything else. The normalcy nuke is just for the sheer baw factor of the poor exalt that got caught in the blast.

For me? Because it's a game where you succeed not by memorizing the rules and being clever, but by being awesome. If you are creative and descriptive enough, you will triumph. And everyone will enjoy it.

Shooting fireballs? Fun enough, but how about sticking your hand in a guy's mouth and THEN shooting a fireball? BAM. Good luck finding the top of your head. How about spitting your cigar 20 yards to land in some guys eye, then punching a cliff so hard it falls on his whole army, before digging your way out with your teeth because you've already got all his best weapons in your hands? You like swinging on chandeliers? How about pulling on the chandelier as you finish the swing, pulling right out of the ceiling and then swinging it down on your enemies with all the force of your landing? How about grabbing the chandalier's chain and swinging it around to precisely crush every man, woman or dog you happen to dislike?

This is Exalted. If it's awesome enough, you can do it.
    >> A Kitten ♥ 09/06/08(Sat)21:16 No.2519484

The Unconquered Sun hasn't shaved or bathed in forever. Various gods stare at the grid wondering how the die will fall. They have to be brought food into their hideaway or they'd starve. They never leave for anything.

You are thinking of something different. That isn't a game of divinity. That's something that happens at a festival they hold. The Maiden of Endings challenges the Unconquered Sun to battle once and only once a year at the festival. You see, the Maiden of Endings is in charge of making sure everything dies so it can be reincarnated and so the cycle of the world continues. Everything must die.. eventually. Even the god who was made to be unbeatable by everything in creation.

The chalange can be ANYTHING she chooses. A battle. A race. She always chooses a spitting contest. Every year they line up. Yu Shan pauses to watch this ritual. Wondering what will happen.

They spit. Thus far the Unconquered Sun has not lost. They face each other and the US say, "Maybe next time." The Maiden of Endings merely bows her head and replies, "Perhaps." before they part ways.

The only thing I don't like about Exalted it being the ST. Making enemies is HARD. There's no fast way to do it, without basically saying "These guys all have stats of PLOT, and will die when I feel they ought to die, making your actual abilities mostly worthless."

Making a foe that can actually fight, with some charms and some combos and a perfect, and a mote pool, and DV's and an accuracy pool that isn't either way too low, or way too high, takes way too much time for the return you get on it.

    >> Anonymous 09/06/08(Sat)21:24 No.2519536

I think it was only once that it was a spitting contest.

Once I had the idea for a game based on that competition, where the US and Saturn each have a god-blooded baby and then let them loose in Creation to grow up until one day they meet up and see which one wins. With surprise twist ending.

But in that game the players would be god-blooded, and 2E doesn't have rules for 'em.

The Games of Divinity are played because they are unimaginably awesome. The reason that mortals would be completely erased from existence just be being in the presence of a game piece is that the awesomeness just overloads them and wipes them out like a tsunami on Phuket. The point is that whatever form the Games take, they are SO fucking great that the highest gods themselves are addicted to it. After all, it was originally built by and for the Primordials.

    "I have invisible powers"

"I have a magic sword that destroys your goggles"

    "My daddy bad touches me"

    And then the game ended.
