    70 KB Emperor Worship Anonymous 09/23/08(Tue)08:23 No.2646978
    Sup, /tg/

This not a place for theistic debate, I know. However, I believe that there truly is some kind of deity, it is wise enough to know that, no matter what word you use to address it, it knows and appreciates that you are calling out to it, praying, asking for broad favours.

I pray to The Emperor. You have no idea how much this gets me through the day. Praying to the Emperor, trusting in His guiding Light to show me my path. Litanies of Protection, Litanies of Joy, even personal litanies have been created and stored on my iPod to listen to when I need support. In fact, I have called upon His Strength to help me when I was in Mortal Peril from a mugger trying to assault me.

The reason I say this, /tg/, is that I know that there is someone else who does this. Are you there, /tg/? Are you there?

If I were given to deity worship, I think the Emperor would indeed be my god of choice. In the grand scope of things, I care mostly about mankind's survival and success, which is what Big E stands for. He is the agent of human enlightenment and progress, and he doesn't try to sugar-coat this agenda or wrap it into vague guidelines. Like other monotheistic deities, he's a benevolent tyrant, but to me he seems the most forthright of the bunch - comparatively few things are forbidden, and the ones that are are the result of rather consistent (if draconian) 'better safe than sorry' policies.

considering there is a warp then our emotions will leave a resounding mark in the warp should we give into a state of fanatasism large enough to create a tear in the warp (or a warp storm) that would give birth to a entity that resounds with our directives and our being. as was the case for the god slanesh (primarily a being of hedonistic desire) born of the mimicked desires of the eldar at the time of the fall.
would it be worth having your sould stripped off you to create such a being - and what of the ability to creade such a being knowing that for once with certianty your death will attribute to the glory of mankind?

I CAST YE OUT, OH INNER DAEMON, STOP THIS POSSESSION OF THIS MORTAL AND BY THE NAME OF THE EMPERAHS HOLY LIGHT I RETURN ONE OF YOUR CHILDREN TO YOUR THRONE"

I actually WANT to be into a religion. I was raised first as a Catholic and then into Christianity (all the shit's the same, really). Now, I'm agnostic. If there were actual proof of some greater power, I would be all over that right away. If something could actually grant me divine, or not-so-divine, help through life, I would latch onto that and be zealous about it.

The shit there now are all just fairy tales and loop roles while nearly retcon everything else and completely ignore history. I asked a religion nut about dinosaurs, and he actually said that it's part of God's plan to test us with demonly monsters and false idols. Come on, now.

    Hey Faggots,

My name is the Emperor, and I hate every single one of you. All of you are fat, retarded, no-lifes who spend every second of their day looking at stupid ass hololiths. You are everything bad in the Imperium. Honestly, have any of you ever purged any xenos or heretics? I mean, I guess it's fun being heretical and letting them live, but you all take to a whole new level. This is even worse than jerking off to pictures in the Directorica Imperialis.

Don't be a stranger. Just hit me with your best shot. I'm pretty much perfect. I was Emperor of a galaxy-spanning Imperium and starter on my Chaos-God Pwning team. What sports do you play, other than "jack off to memetically-infested Tau pornography"? I also get straight life support, and have a banging hot bodyguard (They just fed me 1000 psykers; Shit was SO astromnomnomican). You are all xeno-loving mutant heretics who should just kill yourselves. Thanks for listening

Throne be praised brothers. I seriously and mindlessly chant "The Emperor protects" again and again before exams and other moments of dire peril. Former hardcore catholic turned atheist.

Despite my atheism, I have a habit of anthromorpising concepts and things into gods or spirits I know don't exist. The booze god, machine spirits (even before I discovered 40k), and so forth.

Now it's the Emperor. I even go so far as using phrases such as "oh my god-emperor" in everyday conversation and referring to Jesus, Allah, Yahweh, etc. as the "Dark Gods". Keeping mankind in thrall to ignorance and slavery.

    1. Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked.
    2. Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.
    3. When in another’s lair, show him respect or else do not go there.
    4. If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.
    5. Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.
    6. Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved.
    7. Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.
    8. Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.
    9. Do not harm little children.
    10. Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food.

I think this is a curious notion that ought to be addressed. At the risk of sounding offensive, it's my conviction that religion is a self-deception that enables people to cope with certain things in life. As such, however unfounded it may be, it has a positive function in the personal life of the believer.

However, if you subscribe to a faith that you factually know to be completely fictitious, will you still benefit as much from it? It would seem a bit hollow to me.

    Miklagaard has been our home
    For twenty years or more
We've lent our axes, spears and swords
    In service of the emperor

    We are loyal warriors
    That's the oath we gave
    To protect the emperor
    Even to a violent grave

    Our loyality was always firm
    We kept our given word
    On these southern battlefields
    Our northern war cries roared

    Battles have been fought
    Many gave their lives
But all who died by axe and sword
Were called to hall up high

    Our time here
    Is now at end
    Can't help but reminisce
    A cold spring day
    So long ago
When we set out to sea

    We!
    Set out from Svitjod's Shores!
With dreams of fame and gold!
    And!
    The work of weaving Norns!
    Was unknown

    We were loyal warriors
    That's the oath we gave
    To protect the emperor
    Even to the grave

    It's time to take farewell
    We have been resolved
From the sacred oath we gave
It's time to go back home

    Our time here
    Is now at end
    Our memories will stay
    Of Miklagård
    Our southern home
    Until the end of days

    We!
    Set out from Svitjod's Shores!
    With honor and rewards!
    We return back home!
    We return back home!
    With honor and rewards!
    We return back home!

Do you have evidence to support you? Because, from what i've heard, it is possible. It'd require centuries of work, but it could be done.

    >>2647828

FTL is currently beyond our scientific understanding, and our ability to create. Saying anything is impossible is somewhat foolish. Everything ever held true can and will be overturned at some point in the future. Science is a dynamic every changing framework, not a dogmatic, everlasting set of laws.

His Faith is no mere cult. It is the way to Mankind's destiny.

A more suitable name to encompass our creed is needed.

    Suggestions:
-Church of the Emperor Awaiting, as other fa/tg/uy suggested
    -Church of the Saviour Emperor
    -Lectitio Divinatus

    Any others?

I have always called and considered myself an individualist, call me a faggot and just wanting to stand out, i dont care. I have always been confident in some sort of higher power but I've also always been sure that it doesn't love us in the way Christianity makes it out. I believe that only those who have faith in themselves are ever capable of having true faith in something else. I believe only those who honestly work hard at their own goal deserve any help from a higher power. These ideals have carried over to my political, philosophical, and religious views. I have been called egotistical, a maniac, heartless, and my personal favorite "an ayn randist fucker who would never understand what people were fighting for".

I have prayed to the emperor, i have made sacrifices to long dead gods. I have spilt blood for khorne. I curse tzeentch whenever my dice show ones, especially my 20s.

A conclave means an election for the Pope.

What we need is something like the Council of Nicaea

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Council_of_Nicaea

"With the creation of the creed, a precedent was established for subsequent general (ecumenical) councils of Bishops' (Synods) to create statements of belief and canons of doctrinal orthodoxy— the intent being to define unity of beliefs for the whole of Christendom."
