    Hmm.

How was Psychotic Possessed Ruby smart enough to distract Tom before killing him, because his MANLY PHYSIQUE would've made him too tough for her to deal with otherwise, but too dumb to wait for a better opportunity to kill Red, when Ace the SHITFUCKER wasn't around, or at least aim a bit lower and go for a throat instead of cheek?

I mean sure, you can't tell psychos, but still.

    >> 01/17/09(Sat)15:14 No.3434045
October 2: Tom's hands damaged in z-hatch accident. Most likey cut off.

October 3: Red recommends alternative treatments as traditional treatments fail (implied for multiple subjets, not just Tom).

October 7: Red hears whispered voices 'a second time,' alternative treatments approved and put into action.

(some time before) October 20: Staff starts medication that cured patients due to miraculous results in patients, but Red refuses medication. Ruby kills Stiches.

October 27: Ruby injures Red and is detained by Ace, 'Everything Changes" according to Red.

October 29: Red Clubs Ruby, Ruby declared dead. May god forgive Red.

November 1: "Stiches" is offically alive and breathing again. Red decides to "take the coward's way out" because "death has no premanence here" and releasing Ruby from her torment was in vain(claims to not have taken meds by now). Red detained in cell 6 for his actions. Subject 6 already in brig. 'spade' becomes '?'.

November 8: Ruby attacks Tom in the medical room. Stabbed many times, bleeds out, and dies. Confirmed to have died by F. This blood is never cleaned.

November 23: Subject #6 Isolated in upper Lab B. Only ? authorized to allow contact.
    >> 01/17/09(Sat)15:15 No.3434048
That is all confirmed. What follows is pure speculation
Presumably all the patients were there for blindness. Ruby is confirmed to have condition from birth. Stitches confirmed to have been blind but cured(presumably not from birth. unknown what caused blindness). Given the research, we can assume ALL patients were there for blindness. Specific mutations are most likely based on how the person is injured rather than what they were treated for. Further injury for anyone who received treatment would most likely result in mutations.

Red probably tried to or maybe even succeeded in offing himself. On the 1st. It is likely he was forced to undergo treatment after his capture. Thus the specific manner of his death later on. Destroy the brain.. then vaporize himself with a bomb just to make sure he can't be brought back.

It's no skin off your nose.

I'm wondering about the memory lapses/loss. Do they correspond to changes in personality? Do they simply represent periods where your long-term memory fails to encode?

When we met Red, did he know what was going on? Or had he been driven into denial by waking up in a room full of mad scribblings in his own hand?

I'm still pretty certain that's just subject 6.

So how's this whole undead thing doing? Ruby and Tom are, like, dead, but how? If they die again, do they just rise up like nothing had happened, like Jack Harkness does, or do they need to be put back to their coffins - and if they do, can they be killed for real if they don't? Will they rot until they're nothing but skeletons? When they're "cured", will they die for good, or just become mortals again?

Also in the next game: CHECK THE HEARTBEAT. If it beats, we're VAMPIRES!

I seem to recall a mention of "something" being brought back when they regenerate. Aside from the fact that the regeneration seems to affect memories adversely.

At least we may have a clue why most of the things brought back wants to kill Ruby. Seems they hold a bit of a grudge, though it's something they can't control at first, being mindless. Stitches, for example, seems to have become a bit less homicidal as his self-preservation doesn't seem to be running the show as much. Red seemed to have a thing for Ruby, though, same as Tom. May explain why they were more "mellow". Aside from being more completely regenerated.

So the question comes down to - why did Ruby kill people in the first place? Did the treatment (Filibert seems to label it "disease" and "cure" alternately) mess with her mind? Are there "elder gods"(or dead) of some sort, pushing to get through the veils separating the dead and the living?

I'm guessing it is a WHAT HAS SCIENCE DONE situation. The treatment itself messes with heads. Them dying and coming back just made MORE problems because they brought something back with them.

Or we could take "traditional treatments" to mean science, and the new one is dark stuff. Using said dark bad evil stuff had the expected consequences. You summon something that evil and you pay for it.

Here's a brand new and cool theory: All these trolls are actually people who made a normal post at RQ, to suggest what Ruby should do, only to be ignored by Weaver, and became horribly mutated and bitter as a result!
    >> Ifuritasfan !!v09L1F0F0uU 01/17/09(Sat)16:17 No.3434565
Okay, something needs to be done here.

Look, RQ is cooperative role playing and story telling... which is most definitely /tg/ material, but we've got some pissant sagefags that can't seem to get it through their head or heads that they need to shut up about it and just ignore the threads.

But now, rather than just sageing the thread and moving on, they lurk and troll the threads.

Moot told us how to deal with this shit. That he likes /tg/ and that if we're having problems with faggots to write him directly and he'll step in.

So, at this point I think writing Moot and asking him ban hammer the trolling Sagefags is the only reasonable option at this point since they can't seem to be reasoned with.

Observe the way it "accidentally" misses the point, again and again. I wasn't joking when I said that language doesn't work on these fuckers. It's as if there's no "person" in there to reason with. Your instinctive response - to argue, to reason, to discuss - is a liability. It's still complaining because people keep responding. Trolls don't really have "opinions" in the way that we normally understand the word - they "believe" whatever it's useful for them to believe.

Well, it just appeared there after Ruby looked in the lab, so I figured it probably didn't just walk in through the door, past both Ruby and Tom and into the corner without being noticed, so I figured he might be a ghost or something like that.. Tom remarked that it's too dark to see into the lab, and the bird-shadow was talking about how dark it is, so I figured they might be connected.

The bird might well be a manifestation of 6. Personally, I'm wondering if the dissapearence of the dummy might have had anything to do with the appearence of this new character
in rooms that had already been open to us.

And now for some discussion that's completely different...

All of the patients seem to have known each other beforehand and been on quite reasonable terms, despite later erasures of memory for some currently unknown reason. Likely as not they would have known each other by actual names if this was the case, rather then by their respective patient numbers.

Why then, did the writing in Tom's locker say not to trust '7'? I highly doubt that personal records of patients would have been handed to other patients even before 'things changed'. Therefore, '7' would have been a bad clue to give to himself when he could just have written 'Don't trust Ruby', if indeed Ruby was the subject of said message.

    Thereby, two further possibilities emerge.

    1. Tom did not write that message on the inside of the 'locker' that shares his number. Forgery of handwriting is not impossible, and it might have been a deliberate plant by another character (Filbert, Red, Ace, Dr. S) to try and increase distrust. Unlikely perhaps, but not an impossability.

    2. Tom did indeed write the note, but it refers to something/somone else who isn't Ruby. '7' might refer to something or someone in a part of the map we're yet to even encounter; or perhaps even to somone already encountered. We're yet to discover the identity of the Goat skull, after all.

    Might Seven = Sven?

Yeah, that's possible. There's a disagreement over nature-vs-nurture as to what causes sociopathy/psychopathy. As you can see, I lean strongly towards the "nature" side of the debate. I think the characterisation of trolls as essentially pathetic, lonely people lashing out in frustration is dead wrong, though. In my experience, they tend to be outgoing, charismatic people with a lot of "friends" (perhaps "toys" would be a better word). Their troll skills and desire for power mean that they usually have a high status in whatever group they're in, be it a government, church, corporation, or just a normal group of friends.

There are so few things that can possibly be done in such a situation that everyone was screaming "cliché" simply because Weaver introduced a character that was facing away from the camera.

I did like that it was the character's body, not face, that was so fucked up. If he just had a mutilated/missing/familiar/monstrous face, that would have been one thing, but he's got a pretty normal face and a completely fucked-up shadowbody.

Evidence suggests Red attempted suicide before, but (given that he was restricted to Cell 6 later that day) he obviously was caught before he could finish himself off.

If the "infection" is separate from the "cure", then Red's death would have been permanent. His suicide in the room which later exploded was the culmination of his plans to just get out of this hell.
If the infection and the cure are linked, or one and the same, then my guess is the bomb was less to destroy Ace and more to vaporize his body and make sure he would never be 'brought back' like everyone else had been.

My guess is events happened like this:
Red prescribes "experimental" treatment for blindness.
    Everyone starts to get better.
Miraculously, other conditions or injuries on the patients begin to heal. The administrators put EVERYONE on this medication, staff included, both to further testing and to ensure that accidental injuries (which appear common) don't stop the facility's operation.
Red secretly refuses to take the medication, suspecting, for whatever reason, that something is horribly wrong. Even though it's his treatment, he sees something is just not right. Could be the voices, could be incidents of violence that occurred before Stitches's death, could be a lot of things.
Ruby kills Stitches, who gets numerous large lacerations (which later result in his distinctive stitched-up appearance). He's autopsied and put back into his cell. Red fears the worst, but covers up this death as an accident.
Ruby attacks Red. Red realizes he can no longer deny what's happening: there is something VERY WRONG with the treatment. He kills Ruby, hoping to spare her the further descent into nightmare.
Stitches comes back to life. Red realizes that nothing can stop this now, and that it's only a matter of time before Ruby comes back. He didn't save her (or anyone else) after all, and rather than live with the guilt of knowing he damned the facility or face the nightmarish realities which are sure to come, he decides to kill himself.
Red is apprehended before/during his suicide attempt and put into Cell 6 for holding. He is denied the ability to die and just escape this hell.
Most likely it was Ace who found/recovered/apprehended Red and stopped him from committing suicide, which would explain his later suicide note being direct at him.

Hopefully someone didn't say this before me because I'm too lazy to look.
You know all this very probably means Ruby did in fact die from the gas, and possibly in our... second? Encounter with stiches when he was on the wall? Tom may have died from the arsonic poisioning, ACE REMOVING TOM'S LEFT EYE COROSPONDING WITH THE SECOND ABOMINATON'S MOUTH-EYE MAY HAVE BEEN AN ATTEMPT TO STAVE OFF FURTHER/ACCELERTATED MUTATION as... somewhat supported by the doctor's amputation of his own hand. It may in fact have been the doctor who orded Ace to do this to Tom before Ace stoped listening to his orders and whoever "HER" is, which is clearly not Ruby.
More importantly, since everyone carries 'the cure' this means our plot armor is just about impenatrable now, and even if Tom had triggered the fetal statue trap we likely would have seen him alive again.
But Red is dead for sure, children.

Unlikely. Tom got the antidote in a timely manner and Ruby wasn't exposed to the gas for very long, and even the most lethal gases take more exposure than she had, which I estimate to be probably under 60 seconds, less when you factor in the fact that the gas hadn't even descended fully and was partially vaccuumed from the room.

Plus, if they had died during the story, all evidence suggests they would have had a memory wipe, or been brought back to their lockers/cells.

Don't think so. The fact that he didn't take the medicine wouldn't make much difference if he got INFECTED (infinite plane of teeth). In fact, Filbert is totally nuts because he refused to believe that he wasn't "clean". And 12 seconds is more than enough for a healthy Ace to carry Red out of that room (or at least a part of him) since Tom had the time to carry Ruby out (who is probably heavier than Red).

I'm led to believe the infection IS the cure, and vice-versa. That is, the cure sets in motion the eventual resurrection from death, and every time someone comes back from death, they bring a little more back with them.
So if Red was 'infected', that would mean somehow despite his attempts to avoid it he really was given the medication. Which adds credibility to the idea that he blew himself up to avoid having to come back, only this time it would be to avoid coming back AGAIN.

Ace put Ruby in the Locker, Ace went directly for Ruby, Ace has taken no action to harm Ruby, dispite having every opportunity. Ace attempted to grab Ruby in their second enounter. Ace is very likely the only one who could have tossed Ruby's locker/coffin from the upper level to the starting room.
If Ace knew that Ruby cheated on him we also have: Ace removed Tom's eye, Ace locked Tom in that room when he was arsenic poisioned, Ruby's flashback declaired Ace as not seeming "friendly".

I was going with the "ghost" theory. We have seen this bird only after Ruby started playing with her third eye. Everything that Ruby sees with her third eye is dark, and after the second time she used this ability, the bird just popped out of nowhere. The third time, she looked directly at subject #6, and the bird appeared right next to her and Tom. Her eye must be some kind of gateway, and while the physical body of subject #6 may be trapped, he can show up as a ghostly figure every time Ruby uses her eye, because she can see "through darkness", like some weird shamanic skill.

    Is crazy, but not unlikely.
