    20 KB Shas'o R'myr !!TZikiEEr0tg 02/08/09(Sun)22:26 No.3654446
    Evening.

As you are no doubt aware, I launched Da Shootiest yesterday. The rokkit reached high enough in the sky it actually disappeared for a while.

This was both cause for celebration and dismay. Although Da Shootiest pierced da heavens, and Uzgob Rokkitranga triumphantly returned to Earth, the technical certification process was a failure. Da Shootiest went SO fast pieces actually flew off. An H-class engine and a red paint job really does make a difference.

Many requested a video as to see the launch in action. In the attached video I have included a three minute commentary detailing Da Shootiest, a one minute launch viewing, and a one minute post-mortem evaluation. If you simply wish to see Da Shootiest launch, skip to about 3 minutes in.

    http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=fcc22eeca60f9bd1d956df2962098fcbe04e75f6e8ebb871

Uzgob Rokkitranga has pierced da heavens with his WAAAAAAAAAAGH. The best part? In a month he's gonna do it again.

    ...I will now take questions.

That's what I'm gonna do next month. I'm gonna use Loc-tite Super Glue instead of epoxy. After all, if the Loc-tite held Uzgob so well, what chance does the launch rail have? Once I cert for level 1's, I can work on level 2 frames and motors. It requires a written test, sure, but it should be worth it.

ive tried that before, with the gear that i had at the time i couldnt get all of the engines go launch instantanous. launched sideways and went off in someones corn field and started a fire.

They constantly use words like "require" or "allowed" but have ZERO legal authority, legal backing or even relevance whatso ever. They try to convince people that they are some some sort of government agency but are nothing of the sort.

Real Rocket men go to places like www.jamesyawn.com, not a bunch of elitist jerks who only exist to convince you to waste money on their underpowered engines and crappy prefabricated junk. It's a bullshit industry front designed to take your money, nothing more.

Yeah, the only thing you really need legally is if it's over a certain size/altitude you need to call the local FAA controller, waivers are only needed it it's going REALLY high. Pretty much everything the NAR says is BS, they will go as far as to lie to your face about having legal authority which they do NOT.

Seriously OP which is cooler: The silly cardboard toys they have you screwing around with or a flying 4X4?

I would like to say that any criticism of the NAR is in no way aimed at the OP or his rocket, it is simply that anyone who does experimental rocketry RAGES everytime we here someone mentioning NAR "certification" with phrases like "allowed to launch" thrown in.

OP is awesome, hopefully he'll do some research into how his organization actively and deliberately harms Amateur Rocketry, misrepresents itself, lies and generally acts like jerks on behalf of the model rocket industry.

Hmm...I was unaware of this. I shall have to look at this in more detail. NAR, however, does provide insurance in case I blow myself up, which would be hilarious, but if this is the case, I may not renew my membership and whatnot.

The insurance is good and most vendors will not sell higher class engines without the cert, however it's impossible to do experimental rocketry and be a NAR member. Quite frankly it's very limiting if you ever want to cast your own engines or do anything that does not involve buying a commercial product.

There are NAR members who just don't tell them they are doing experimental stuff but they have a active snitching culture. If you are learning anything useful and don't intend to make your own engines or do anything not on their list then stick with it until you, just be aware that being a member is very limiting.

And remember, besides BATF and FAA laws, everything they say has no legal authority whatso ever.
