It seems to be a cactus. Strange, you had been certain it was a tree moments before. Cactuses shouldn't grow in a forest, anyway. Perplexing.

But everyone thinks she's dead. That's a very useful thing for an assassin. It might be unwise to reveal herself so soon.

That said, it's a good reason to go toward the Goldmoon HQ and ask around for Cultist (while carefully not mentioning Goldmoon's resurrection).

Tom wasn't a character under our control at the time. Ruby was.

Besides, the point, it's one thing to have a moment between characters that wasn't suggested that fits with their personalities and is a minor detail, it's another to do so in order to drastically alter the course of the ongoing game.

I took "patching things up" to mean FIXING things rather than ending it. Typically, the idiom to "patch things up with" refers to repairing a relationship rather than ending it.

Also, what about the lich? What about Finlay? Why did Aldwin decide to stop adventuring at the drop of a hat when his only "job" is a very dangerous one that involves management of a group of assassins? It doesn't make sense to me.

Another good point. Beardbeard, Goldmoon, Garelf, all these people currently have big, sweeping things to worry about, like assassinations and ending the world. But for the longest time, Aldwin's driving force has been... baby stuff. Maybe he does deserve to retire. He would probably make a better father than thief/adventurer.

Alright alright, I get it. Far too abrupt of an ending. Well, Aldwinside has nothing really left. The only reason his side even had anything to go off of last week was because Beardbeard was around, and we needed to fix Goldmoon. Both of these have changed, and I have come to realize that Aldwin's side of the story has almost no impact on the rest of the story anymore.

So. I have come to a conclusion. Rather than an ending... lets just go to his pause screen. Aldwin deserves a better ending than this. I am not a writer. I will think this over for the next couple of weeks, and come up with something other than a crapshoot ending. Something that wraps up the Finlay problem, for instance, seeing as how he is kinda a big problem. For tonight, however, adventuring is over.

Which makes this the second time I have totally dropped the ball on Aldwinside. Rather than spoil what was once another interesting part of DQ, I would rather retire it, but as I have said before... it does deserve a better ending than this. My apologies.

Although, it is worth mentioning >>4623652 is correct. Aldwin will still be doing his assassin management gig for cashmonies - its just no longer worth Anonymous's attention.

To be honest, Aldwin has no real connection with the driving quests anymore. He doesn't know Finlay's still around, and has no way to find out without massive meta-gaming (Kav is the only one who actually knows, and she and Aldwin don't even know each other). The Garelf and Satan stuff doesn't affect him at all, because he's not a godslayer and the actions of the gods are meaningless in his little world.

Coco and Goldmoon are the only things in his quest which need to be resolved, and the two of them can easily form a new party now that Goldmoon isn't out to destroy Coco.

Ah, because you hate love and joy. Perfectly reasonable.
The thing is, they were, and still are, seriously sidetracked, or at least way ahead of the main arc. The only ideas people had for what to do with them were things like "let's metagame and go on a Finlay hunt."
Before the sudden reversal, I was expecting to see occasional "meanwhile, at the windmill" posts, where they continue to provide the down-to-earth, non-godkilling elements without slowing things down by having threads devoted to them, and maybe, in due time, Aldwin would become a PC again.
What I see as more of a copout, actually, is Xom being so damn cooperative. Seeing Goldmoon come to terms with being alive but damaged would have been interesting, even if the angst would sidetrack things further.
