    441 KB True Heroes Part 11 !ZaiyoM.Dpk 07/17/09(Fri)11:00 No.5186184
Power went out a couple days ago and was only recently restored. Let's try this again.

    Part 1-10: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/5160269/

You’ve met with an unfortunate fate, haven’t you?”

In your unconscious state, these words echo in your mind. You have no idea who has said them nor do you have a clue what it could be alluding to – is it your memories? Is that truly what has possessed your mind in your deep slumber, the subconscious acknowledgement of what has been stolen? You search deep within your soul for the answer, but you are only met with the familiar symbol of yin and yang; it hovers in the darkness in taunt, blocking your path to the solution and resolution you seek.

Your eyelids flutter open; your vision is blurry at first, but it takes very little for you to gain focus of the ceiling. You stir under the blanket, but cease when you feel another body lying against you. You give a quiet sigh that can only be heard by your ears as you imagine unknown figures and objects in the lines above you. You daydream for a few minutes before you’re brought out of your fictional world by the sound of snapping; your eyes roll to the side – toward the window and toward Kuhn’s bed. You see him, your comrade and friend, dressed save for a shirt, tinkering with several guns on his comforter.
    >> !ZaiyoM.Dpk 07/17/09(Fri)11:00 No.5186186
Kuhn: (without looking up) You can go back to sleep, nothing’s happening this early in the morning.

You glance out of the window in the direction of the mountains, the thought that the sun had barely graced the golden plains taking a few seconds to register in your exhausted mind. You decide to stay awake, but not leave your comfortable position as you doubt you would be able to fall asleep again even if you tried. You watch his skillful movements as he dissects each gun individually like a surgeon on a patient.

You: (hoarse) What are you doing?

Your throat is oddly dry which leads you to believe you were sleeping with your mouth open for a significant amount of time. Kuhn remains quiet for a few seconds while he thinks of a simple and effective way to answer your question.

Kuhn: I’m trying to make a weapon that’s not large, but effective in long-range and close-range situations with a decent amount of power.
    >> !ZaiyoM.Dpk 07/17/09(Fri)11:01 No.5186191
He curses when he hears something snap.

You: Seems a little too convenient. Do you think it’s possible?

He stops working for a few moments to acknowledge your words. Though it’s not reflecting in his expression, Kuhn was remembering the battle that he and Selene had endured while you were fighting the King.

Kuhn: There isn’t much choice. A useless sharpshooter is worse than a useless swordsman.

You: What’s that supposed to mean?

    Kuhn: (chuckling) Nothing.
    >> !ZaiyoM.Dpk 07/17/09(Fri)11:02 No.5186195
You feel a stirring inside your bed; Selene moved her body for a little bit to relieve the uncomfortable feeling that her subconscious mind was relaying to her. You and Kuhn both acknowledge she’s a heavy sleeper, but decide to stop talking until she’s awake.

A few hours later, Selene awakes – though violently. She had been dreaming she was in battle, dodging bullets fired from the fictional enemies that were above. It carried over into her physical life which caused her to roll off the bed. Kuhn didn’t say a word due to being in his own world, but you noticed and peeked over the bed to see her sprawled out face down on the floor, her hair strewn about and the blanket she had stolen during her sudden turning covering her somewhat naked appearance.

Your eyes drill a hole in the back of her head for several seconds before you decide to say something.

    You: Are you alright?

Selene doesn’t dignify your question with a response, instead turning to swear profusely into the blanket that’s wrapped around her figure – though it’s only heard as muffles on your end.

Kuhn: We’re going to have to leave soon.

Your eyes move from Selene, who remains on the floor, immovable, to Kuhn who was inserting a magazine into his prototype gun.

Kuhn: You managed to take down a military city and a Septima war hero, and it’s been roughly a week since it’s happened.

You: Yeah. (yawn) You heard that, Selene? Or are you too busy molesting the floor?
    >> !ZaiyoM.Dpk 07/17/09(Fri)11:46 No.5186419
You and Kuhn both feel a disturbance in the force moments after you tell your joke. The room reaches an awkward silence before the perpetrator stands, snarling. Without a word, she strips herself of her shell and heads toward the bathroom; you hear the shower knob squeak and Selene scream due to the temperature of the water not long after.

Kuhn: You have a present, by the way.

While Kuhn talks, you begin to get dressed. You’re not in the mood for a shower and Kuhn’s already taken one. You decide that when Selene has finished you’ll leave the city.

Kuhn: Yep. I’m guessin’ someone heard your primary weapon was broken and decided to leave it for you. It’s outside the room.

Curious to what you’ve been brought, you move from the edge of the bed and toward the door, opening it with little force to see…

Lying against the wall, nonchalantly and fierce with attitude, was your new weapon. It was a silver trident with a cloth tied against the long handle just before the prongs. It had a chain at long chain at the end of it that was neatly coiled next to it. It’s not a poor weapon choice, you believe, but the size may become impractical at a later date.

    Kuhn: Ada~~~hn!

You hear the queer call of your male comrade and it sends a shiver down your spine. You can feel your bones creak as you turn around to face him to see what he wants.

    Kuhn: The princess is finished.

Must have been a short shower, you think to yourself in the doorway. Sure enough, Selene emerged from the bathroom with the steam that was contained inside blowing out behind her. She was dry save for her hair, and was dressed in her usual attire. It was oddly silent between the 3 of you for a minute or two.

Selene: Let’s get the hell out of here.

You left without a word. Those who were not there to witness the incident had no clue who rescued them from despair; they had no one to thank and no one stepped forth to take credit. To them, you were a whirlwind – you rose out of nowhere and blew away the sand that covered their personal grounds and, just as quickly as you appeared, you and your comrades vanished into the sun.

    -Outside the City-

    You: Where to next?

Kuhn took out a map that he had purchased while you and Selene were hospitalized.

Kuhn: We have a long way to go. It SHOULD be at least a couple days by foot.

    Selene: Fuck!

Your ears twitch when you hear Selene state her disdain for the walking they would have to endure.

The hours pass slowly, much slower than expected. The mundane activity and way of travel was broken apart by a sudden whirring and torrent of wind that came from above. Almost simultaneously, the 3 of you jerk your heads upward to find the source of the gusts and sounds.

    Kuhn: A black helicopter…

You: It’s flying low. You think it’s for us?

Kuhn: I KNOW it’s for us.

    Selene: Shall we shoot them?

You: We attack them, they’ll attack back. They’re also in the air and protected by an armored vehicle; too disadvantageous.

The mysterious helicopter flies over and past you toward the afternoon sun and vanishes.

Kuhn: Keep your guard up, we’re going to be in for one hell of a ride.

The 3 of you continue your walking, but nightfall soon descends and the thought of the helicopter clouds your mind.

Kuhn: I think it’s about time we set up camp.

    Selene: (snide) Really?

Kuhn: Recently discovered sarcasm, have you, girly?

Selene and Kuhn were literally at each other throats while you scouted the area for the best place to rest.

    You: Trees.

    Kuhn & Selene: ?

You: We’ll take cover in the trees. It should give us some cover and it’ll contain significantly less bugs and animals than the grass would.

    Kuhn: Makes sense.

The moon hangs ominously above you as you head toward the tall trees in the distance. With each step you take, you feel more and more anxious; if it is indeed the enemy then they’ve taken their sweet time to track you down. While off inside your mind, you were not aware of the distance you had been covering, only being brought back by bumping into a tired and annoyed Selene. She snarled at you and your recklessness, which was enough of a signal for you to head toward safety, aka behind Kuhn.

It was dark within the small forest, the only light being the moon shining against and between the trees. Kuhn folds his arms while he internally calculated what they should do.

It’s not too cold out so a fire isn’t particularly necessary.

Kuhn: We need to decide a lookout before anything. Adahn, if you will.

    Choose a lookout:

    You: I’ll take watch.

    Kuhn: Okay then. Good night.

Kuhn drops to the ground and uses his pack as a pillow. His response to it was rather quick, a little TOO quick for your tastes. You glare a hole in the back of his head and you can feel his grin even though you can’t see it. After a minute of your invisible battle, you give and sigh, conceding defeat for the time being.

You look for Selene to wish her a good night, but you find that she’s already lying down and snoring softly; ever since this morning, she’s seemed a little… off, you think. It may be all in your mind, which is another thought that comes soon after. You stop dwelling on it while looking for a place to sit and gaze at the moon while being on watch. You have no idea why, but the brightness and presence of the moon makes you anxious and, at the same time, it captivates you. After a few minutes of staring, your mind grows blank and the moon grows close until it consumes your being.

Selene looks at you while you’re conversing with Kuhn to avoid you seeing her concerned for your well-being.

What we do know is that their weapons are silenced.

Whisper "We get up the tree quietly. If we get up there before they get here then we can get the drop on them from hiding."

You can't see how many there are, or where they are.

Also, as an added fact, supressed weapons still make a flash, albeit a lighter one.

Get Kuhn to shoot something, or get a decoy.

We're in a forest of some sort. It's unlikely we'll see a flash between the trees and the bushes, but that's just what I think.

I'll give you another 15 minutes to make any last minute changes, additions, or what have you. After that, I'll just use the most voted for option.

You guys really do not know anything about warfare, do you? We are in a forest at NIGHT. Every shot will be like a fucking lighthouse and if Kuhn starts shooting he will be riddled with bullets faster than we can say: "Cheese!"

This might work but it's hoping the enemy don't have night vision, maybe try this out in panther form so we can see them?

We need to set up a decoy. An unsuccessful trap that will "alert them" and cause them to split up and search the area as a result and then take them out one by one.

We need to get Rambo on their asses.

    IT'S A BRIGHT FUCKING LIGHT.

You can be fucking colorblind and still see a large flash of bright.

yes, we need a decoy, like a pan or something related, have Adahn or Selene do it while Kuhn watches who's who and where.

You: Kuhn, I’ll separate and draw them out. When I do, take them down. I don’t know how many there are, but it’s our only chance.

Kuhn hands you two grenades that you can use to cause them to split up.

    Kuhn: Don’t get yourself killed.

You: I’ll be fine. Oh, and Selene.

    Selene: (attentive) What is it?

You: Stay out of trouble and out of battle.

It took her a few seconds to completely digest the words. When she did, she approaches you in obvious anger.

Selene: What are you trying to do?

You: I’m trying to keep us alive.

Selene: (grabs your face) Listen. I don’t need people looking out for me.

You: (slaps hand away) No, YOU listen. You are not anywhere near qualified and experienced to handle this situation effectively. You’ll get yourself and us killed; just stay out of trouble.

You feel her fist slam into your back. You stumble forward before turning to face the seething woman.

Selene: And who the fuck put YOU in charge?!

She’s yelling now and it definitely gave off your position, you believe. You glare at her, showing how serious you take this situation.

You: I don’t have time to babysit a little girl who can’t follow simple orders. If you want to go running home to daddy, go ahead. If you want to get yourself killed, feel free. I don’t need a liability, especially in the middle of battle.

You turn to Kuhn, who remained silent.

    You: Let’s go.

You leave Selene alone in the abandoned camp and go to face your ever-approaching enemies.

You skulk through the forest after transforming into your panther identity. Using your superior night-vision, you are able to locate a fairly large group of soldiers searching the woods together. You count 10.

    ( ) What now?

One nade; time it so it blows above their heads then charge right in as a panther, get out and hide before the smoke clears.
