Hello, /tg/. A few days ago, we played a game. A very numbers-heavy game, but a game nonetheless. It's called "Corp Quest". It's the far future and it's dominated by mega-corporations. You play a group of subcontractors working for the corporation TradeStar - you're handling their mining operations on the unclaimed planet of Hajjar. Since your arrival, hostilities with the exceeding hairy but sentient primate natives has risen and you're on the brink of conflict. Four other corporations have been discovered:
The unethical AlphaRange - you offer them enslaved natives in exchange for technology.
The sly Centauri Synthetics - you're currently in an uneasy truce with them.
The curious Lemmington Pharmaceuticals - you're also on the brink of conflict with these eggheads.
The alien Kil'thweq - no contact yet, but you know they're looking to conquer the planet.

Overall, at this stage, things are just about to get very interesting.

Do you want to continue our game, /tg/?

Some might argue with me over this but it makes the whole thing easier to comprehend and it makes it easier to see what is happening. This way, you can observe the effects of your actions without resorting to abstract terms that are subject to opinion.

    551.1 tons of heavy metal
    6,103 units of fuel

    +260 tons/day
    -458 fuel/day

You recently produced 24 Heavy Combat Drones. That leaves you with 30 Heavy Combat Drones and 6 Light Combat Drones in total (excluding the 18 Light Combat Drones guarding the deposits).

Five constructors are building your Forward Construction Site. One day remaining until completion.
Four constructors are heavily reinforcing your primary facility. Two days remaining until completion.

Yesterday - before I vanished - there were two main problems:
    1. People were arguing about when to start their aggressive actions on Lemmington Pharmaceuticals.
    2. People were arguing about whether the war-chanting primates are actually any threat or not.

What action would you guys like to take?

Keep some lookouts powered up, shut the rest down.
Get those sampler drones looking for Gas ASAP, get a few constructor drones to build roads for any gas pockets previously discovered and a few to increase max capacity on the gas pockets we do have.

To the North, you're dangerously close to other corporation territories. It might cause disputes.
To the East and West, you have ocean. With no amphibious or submersible technology, you can't move your drones out there.
To the South, you've got the masses of chanting primates.

The territory you current possess is absolutely riddled with holes - there's no more resources to find there. If you want to get more, you have to expand in at least one direction.

What would you like to designate as your lookouts?

Also, your constructors are busy building at the moment - unless you'd like to construct more.

Also, here's a map that you may find useful.
    Orange background is AlphaRange.

    3 with 2500 fuel

You don't have access to nuclear weaponry - if you wish to purchase additional technology, you need to buy it from a corporation that has it.

Basically, what's happened is, TradeStar doesn't want to waste too many resources on this project - so you were sent off to this planet with the bare minimum technology, only possessing the bare essentials to start a mining colony.

You want technology, you're going to have to pay for schematics, blueprints and so on. Of course, you can attempt to jury-rig stuff, but the chances of success are minimal.

We still have some space up north. We can weather any light disputes that arise (IF they arise, considering how much space the other corporations have to expand), and there's always the advantage of being the first to to lay claim to an area.

Send some samplers to look for gas down south as well, but discretely.

You have discovered an additional heavy metal deposit with approximately 3000 tons worth of cargo.
You have discovered an additional gas pocket with approximately 2000 units of fuel.

You have been contacted by Lemmington Pharmaceuticals. They request that you temporarily cease your mining and fuel pumping so that they can attempt to locate specimens in your territory.

Lemmington wants three days of ceased activity. In response, they are willing to offer you one of the following deals:
    - 500 tons of heavy metal and 2000 units of fuel.
    - Schematics for a harvester-sampler hybrid drone.
    - Formulae for basic toxic gases. These are capable of heavily disorientating organic creatures and even incapacitating the weakest.
    - Basic cloning technology. Clones cost no heavy metal to construct and do not require fuel to stay online. They are also capable of doing any of the jobs listed. However, they are only as efficient as light drones, they require supplies instead of fuel to survive, they require habitats to live in and they are sentient - so unlike drones, they are capable of disobeying orders.

Take Lemmington up on their offer. 500 tons of ore and 2,000 fuel, and we'll let them forage for specimens for a few days.

The combat drones hold their ground until the apes attack. At that point, stun as many as possible and bring them in. Depending on how cooperative they are, we either ally with them or sell them to AlphaRange.

    In that case...

It's obvious that these natives aren't used to the concept of ranged combat. They continue to charge blindly despite running into a wall of laser fire. A handful of the large primates and their lesser cousins fall but not much more, because the majority of the laser fire is focused on the big ones.

One of the giant natives comes crash to the floor, its body covered in horrible burns. A second giant is suddenly engulfed in flames as its fur ignites and flails wildly, slaughtering many of its comrades in a wild, blind rage.
The third giant makes it to your lines. It kicks your light drone around like soccer balls, easily crushing three of them beneath its gigantic feet. It sinks its axe through the reinforced metal of one of the heavy drones, destroying the hardware contained within. It tears out the axe, turning to the next closest drone.

A group of your drones encircle the gorilla and attempt to shoot it down and stun at it and ram into it and do everything within their power to kill it. It smashes through one - no, two more heavy drones before it eventually crashes to the earth, its heavy body slamming into the moist soil, dead eyes gazing into the heavens.
Attention turns back to the apes and chimps - which have caught up. They're barely twenty feet away. Your drones have barely a second to react before the horde hits them - but it's almost disappointing. As soon as the third gorilla falls, dozens of primates seperate from the ranks and attempt to run for it. Even more attempt to leave, trying to break away from the melee as you scream for diplomatic results, while the remaining few try to desperately maul your machinery. Four more light drones are destroyed and another heavy drone is swamped, covered in tiny little chimps ripping and tearing at every cable they find.

Over half of the natives are running for their lives. Those that remain are either dying or being incapacitated by stun rods.

    TradeStar:
    26 Heavy Drones
    15 Light Drones

    Natives:
    All gorillas dead.
24 apes dead, 17 apes incapacitated.
39 chimps dead, 21 chimps incapacitated.

19 apes and 30 chimps have fled from the scene.

Up to fifty living specimens can be stored in the habitat. Unfortunately, specimens also require supplies in order to survive. You currently only have enough supplies for yourselves - for two months.

You can choose to contain the incapacitated natives but there is a chance that they will die from their wounds or from a lack of nourishment.

    Day 14:

    1049.8 tons
    5,422 fuel

    +260 tons/day
    -171 fuel/day

Today, things are going to change a little. Several gigantic, fancy, shining and completely sterile looking harvester-sampler drones roll across the border into your territory, five of them in total. Each one is accompanied by a armed and armoured human - all of them are identical.

These samplers begin to roll across the soil, all over your compund and all around your mines, taking samples of every tiny piece of plantlife that is available.

At this moment in time, any continued harvesting would make Lemmington Pharmaceuticals very angry.

What course of action would you like to take? At the end of this period, remember as long as you comply, you will recieve your payment.

Disable everything in the mines and gas pockets except for the combat drones.
Disable the heavy combat drones again.

We need to consume the least amount of fuel possible if we're gonna survive this shit.
Meanwhile, keep on producing the harvesters for each gas pocket. As soon as they leave, we're gonna restart this operation. Keep on building the roads too.

This way, the profit we recieve from this is huge, since we're barely using any fuel at all, now that the harvesting is stopped.

Stop harvesting in the areas they are studying (do we have any mines outside of their range? If so, keep those ones running at full power). Turn off the harvester and hauler drones that are assigned to the closed mines to save fuel, but leave the constructors online in case something happens.

Keep a heavy fighter close to each Lemmington squad, for their own safety of course.

    Day 17:

You lost a total of 10.5 tons per day due to construction.
You lost a total of 125 units per day due to maintainance and 105 units per day due to constructions.

You have built three new roaded gas pocket facilities that are fully functional.

    You have also been paid.

Resources and the rate that they're now being generated/spent at:

    1518.3 tons
    6,791 fuel

    +260 tons/day
    +84 fuel/day

    You have discovered:
    - a mine with 2500 tons
    - a mine with 2000 tons (long range)
    - a mine with 2000 tons
    - a gas pocket with 3000 units
    - two gas pockets with 2500 units

All 26 heavy drones are now deactivated again. The only combat drones online are ones defending your mining facilities.

No sign of the natives. They've fled, deep into the Southern jungle for now.

Once we've gotten our fuel intake more strongly into the positives, we'll be able to mine for more ore.

You have 4 heavy metal deposits and 8 gas pockets currently being harvested.

    - a gas pocket of approximately 3000 units (long range)

Shimmering shapes of smooth white plastic soar through the sky before plunging down from the heavens, engaging in combat with strange, bulky metallic behemoths, as shown in the picture. They are also accompanied by alien footsoldiers. The ivory synthetics are engaged in brutal war with the aliens of Kil'thweq, it would seem.

See if we can trade with anyone for the Schematics to a Bridge. We'll use it to build across to the Northeast.
Until then, have whatever Constructors aren't being used for roads start filling in Dirt at the notheast gap.

If we have more Mineral pockets that aren't being mined, construct 10 harvesters and 10 haulers and get working.
If the pockets are too far away to be hauled by only 10, then construct 15 haulers or 20 (however many is needed for maximum output).
If there are no spare mineral deposits, construct 14 Heavy combat drones, and enough Light drones to replace what we have lost, and push Southwest into the natives' land.

When the bridge is complete, get to work on a second storage/craft production facility at the position indicated by the Dark blue star.

We had this issue come up the other day when we were doing this in an earlier session. They offered us their flight tech for our laser tech.

They have mastered the flight tech. With lasers they could destroy us if they tried.

Our lasers need no ammo. They're infinite and powerful. We'll get flight tech from the Centauri soon enough. We won't give them our most prized technology.

    +325 tons/day

Five of your heavy constructors are building a Southern storage facility, removing the range disadvantage from several deposits and pockets. This will take one more day.

21 of your Heavy Combat Drones have been split into three groups. Alpha, Beta and Gamma. They have been exploring Southwards.
Alpha squadron has located a small pack of chimps. They are aware of Alpha's presence and are preparing to flee. Response?

I think perhaps we should buy a favor from our friends at Lemmington.

While this talk of the "Great Father" might just be the religious supersticions of a primitive race, it could also be something more. We've determined that there are at least three distinct castes of alien; what seems to be foragers (chimps), guards (apes), and offensive warriors (gorillas). The "father" could be the title of a command caste, possibly a creature of deadly power. I think we need to find out about the biology of these things.

I move that we contact Lemmington and ask them for scientific data about the natives, particularly their life cycle and biological castes. We'll offer them some fuel in return.

137's 'bots rely on speed. They're very, very close ranged but they're also quite fragile, so they rely on hit and run tactics, dancing between enemies and neurologically overloading them with massive electrical pulses emitted from the tentacles.
Simply put, one hit kills. 137's 'bots have got the motherfucking death touch. But, as I said, it relies on them being close up and personal and if you manage to hit them before they hit you, the plastic usually deforms and renders them useless. One hit kills you, one hit kills them.

Assuming each size category of Gorilla increases size by a factor of 5,
and 30 of our HCDs took down 3 Gorillas with 3 Losses (1 was lost to chimprush, not gorillas),

I'd say 6 HCDs are enough to take down 1 Gorilla with substantial losses.
We'd need 32 HCDs to take down 1 "Next size up" (King kong) with substantial losses, assuming the Kong has 5* the ability to take damage, and deals 5* the damage in combat.

60 HCDs should be enough to down 1 Kong with minimal (<10%) losses.

Well we're gonna need to cut maybe ~10 harvesters and 10 haulers from our mines, and build up some replacements.
How's that 4th bot facility going? Better get it up and running, we're finding more and more uses for Harvesters and Haulers (Food for slaves, I'm assuming 1 Harvester/Hauler can supply 1 gorilla, 5 apes and 25 chimps), Combat drones (Slavery fuck yeah & Combat with kwi'theq), and even Construction drones (More bot facilities and roads).
    >> Anonymous 09/07/09(Mon)23:20 No.5767985
How about some large darts with stunning rods attached. Long range stunning capabilities. These natives are all charges and close combatants.

We need our heavy constructors to build more construction sites. If we're gearing up for war and heavy enslavement operations, we'll need to constantly expand fuel harvesting operations just to keep up with demand.

Start construction of three sites. Position one of them relatively close to the border with 137 so that it can produce combat drones close to the front lines, and one of them farther south so that it can support harvesting and slaving operations there.
    >> Anonymous 09/07/09(Mon)23:22 No.5768015
    We're autosaging.

New thread, or game over for today?

We're gonna need to send some of our mining harvesters/haulers to get enough slave food for 10 Gorillas / 50 Apes / 250 Chimps / pro rata combination, however many Haulers and Harvesters that is.
We're gonna need to re-build however many of them we've borrowed from the mines.
We're ALSO going to need to keep making a few more combat drones, so we have 36 in Slaver groups, 12 ready to fight on the border of Centauri, and 2 at Base.

If so lets construct (at least) one at the location that we're using as a holding cell.

Also lets begin tapping more of those unused resource depots in our territory; the 3000 ones immediately and the 2500 ones ASAP.

Make sure we take as many harvesters/haulers as we need from the mineral mines, in order to support the slaves we capture.

Build HCDs until we have a grand total of 50 as first priority at our 3 'bot-building sites.
Second priority for 'bot-building sites is making up the numbers of Harvesters and Haulers we replaced.
Start making a Holding facility at our mainbase with the Construction drones, this is their #1 priority. Their #2 priority should be expanding the Southern mineral base to have 2 Bot construction facilities, similar to our main.

Sampler drones should be 66% devoted to finding gas, 33% devoted to finding minerals. How many deposits of each do we have that are untapped?

Offensive teams in the south should focus on capturing as many of the natives as possible, with the exception of letting 1 or 2 from each group run away and lead them to their Towns (or where-ever most of their dudes are).

And in regards to the natives being trained: AlphaRange has already said they've gotten the Chimps to do menial tasks already. I suspect if we become enemies, they'll use the Apes and possibly Gorillas as front line forces.

They say the Gorillas are too wild to control. But think of them as nukes in the 30's and 40's. If you were developing them, would you tell anyone else before they were ready to be used against them?

Buy it from alpharange with our first shipment of 50 chimps or 20 apes. We'll be able to find plenty of other natives.

Contact Centauri. See if they'll allow us to equip one of their fliers, and give it commands to hover out of Gorilla range and stun them. Offer some fuel in return.
Specify that this Flier remains under the control of Centauri; they own it, we don't, and we're renting its ability to hover out of Gorilla range and stun the Gorillas.

Assuming Gorilla = 5 people (they're fuckin' huge), and chimp = 1/2 person (they're fuckin' tiny), with ape being somewhere in between (they're fuckin' in between),

we can trade 100 tons for enough to supply pretty much everything we capture.

Might as well buy some with the turn of the month, and use our own stores for now.

Goal at the end of the month:

    2,500 heavy metals (quota)
    100 heavy metals (1000 man-months of supplies)
    1000 heavy metals (5,000 fuel)
