    Welcome back to Corp Quest.
In this number-crunching quest, each poster is a member of a tiny subcontracting firm that works for TradeStar, a super-corporation in the far future. Your job is initiate a massive mining project on a planet that TradeStar has unofficially named 'Hajjar'. Once you have reached the level of production stated in the first thread, your mission will be complete and you will be allowed to leave the planet, with enough cash to keep you in luxury for the rest of your lives.
However, there are problems. The natives are hostile and there are several other corporations looking to exploit the planet and looking to exploit you. How you deal with these threats is up to you.
Recently, with the aid of Centauri Synthetics, you have crushed the Kil'thweq Corporation, a group of alien imperialists. You've also bought Centauri Synthetic's finest military mind, Comrade 70. It's the second day of the second month on the planet, and it's up to you, the subcontractors, to decide what to do next.
Just wait for me to post details of the latest day.

You can order the blueprints for an Examination Facility. This will allow you to slowly design schematics for stolen technology.
These blueprints will cost you 5000 TONS.

Still, even without the examination facility, you're allowed to request information as to what the technology does.

Wait to do any of that until a production facility and storage area are built at the mothership.

We gave AlphaRange free right to all of the Prawn survivors.

Have they picked them up yet?

If they haven't, we make sure to keep a good eye on them.

In exchange for this, we want some kind of EMP weaponry to use against Centauri if the need arises. Make sure to ask 70 beforehand if that would be effective against them.
    >> Anonymous 09/10/09(Thu)13:05 No.5802795
We're getting +324 fuel per day, I think we'll be ok. (unless that was a typo?)

but by reducing our pleasure expenditures by 10% in this manner, we can save tens of tons per annum!

Primary goal; develope a base adjacent to the Kil'thweq mothership wreckage and start mining that, and nearby Heavy Metals, like a madman.

Begin a troop withdraw and prepare for counter-Insurgency tactics against the Uni-Peace forces, though we will likely want to investigate the possibility of mine based technology for the purposes of terrain denial; thereby limiting their avenues of counterattack...

Also; if we've got the funds after these initiatives lets look into grabbing that reverse engineering gizmo, could be quite lucrative with the tech we've salvaged from them prawns.
    >> Anonymous 09/10/09(Thu)13:09 No.5802844
We'll have the resources soon enough.

We do need to get defenses in place to protect from Uni-Peace. Offensive action against them needs to wait until we're prepared to wipe them out.

For now, focus on building up the area around the crashed ship, and redeploy our combat forces throughout our territory.
    >> Anonymous 09/10/09(Thu)13:11 No.5802858

That land will be there to plunder.

We don't know what Plasma is planning. For all we know this ship could become unusable sometime soon.

    >> Subcontractor Klaus 09/10/09(Thu)13:12 No.5802870
Right; as it stands they are a cold enemy of sorts, though likely to become hot quite soon as they stand in the way of any Southern expansion we may hope to make.

*Also for clarification I meant landmine for the terrain denial, realized that could be a bit confusing given we're a mining company...
    >> Anonymous 09/10/09(Thu)13:13 No.5802876
Oh hell yes we want land mines.

Moving Heavy Construction Drones to the Mothership.
They will be there tomorrow and they will begin construction tomorrow.
You can request him to renamed.
You request that moves on to optimizing construction.
"Understood. You know, your human artificial intelligence is so... weak. Are you sure you do not wish to try and replace it with synthetic life?"
The Mothership Propulsion System is highly advanced but not without its flaws. Their efficiency is massively reduced when inside an atmosphere. They are capable of interstellar travel but unfortunately, due to the obliterated Mothership engine, you currently have no sample of FTL technology.

The Mothership Heat Ray is designed for defense in an atmosphere. It fires a stream of heat that immediately ignites the air, in a straight line. It is devastating against all targets. As long as there is no obstacle, the heat ray can hit anything from any distance.
    >> Subcontractor Klaus 09/10/09(Thu)13:15 No.5802903
Last estimate Plasma gave us for the bridge was that it would take all of our constructors a prohibitive amount of time to construct the bridge; and we also would have to deal with the fact that Uni-Peace has watercraft (which we don't), so they could make life hell for us if we expand over a demolish-able bridge...
    >> Anonymous 09/10/09(Thu)13:18 No.5802931
Tell 70 that that is not adviseable.

If they were truly synthetic, then they would be beings, and no longer tools.

If they became beings, then some would feel out of place, just as he had with Centauri.

AlphaRange have arrived and their employees are beginning to cut into the Mothership hull, doing minimal damage and trying to extract any live prawns contained within.

"Oh boy, this is a mess. We'll be here for approximately ten days - it'll take a while to check out the entire ship."
    No typo.

As for land mines - who do you want to try and get the schematics from?
    >> Subcontractor Klaus 09/10/09(Thu)13:21 No.5802978
Could we allow him to give us synthetic life with a killswitch that turned it back over to 'Human AI' in case of emergency (/betrayal), if so that might provide a nice counter to anyone somehow jamming our ability to communicate with and direct our Droids...

Also; if we were able to reverse engineer the Kil'thweq tech, would we combine the propulsor with the heat ray to create a low geosynchronous orbit Ion Cannon Satellite type deal? (The satellite tech alone might be worth buying the reverse engineering tech for, as that would help us solve some of our information gaps.)
    >> Anonymous 09/10/09(Thu)13:22 No.5802983

TradeStar first; then AlphaRange, depending on what AR has to offer for the Kil'thweq it might be a worthwhile investment.

Either way it wouldn't hurt to check if our parent company has the schematics.

With 20 Heavy Constructors, bridge construction will take 10 days and 1000 tons.

However, your heavy constructors are going to build a construction facility and a storage facility and the Kil'thweq Mothership currently.
They will arrive tomorrow and they will be able to complete both projects by the next day.

Also, you contact TradeStar about the Examination Facility.
"Okay, we'll require 5000 extra tons of heavy metals by the end of the month. If you don't have the heavy metal by then in addition to the minimum 2500 tithe, you're going to have to pay in a much harder way.
"We're going to transmit the blueprints to you right away. Should arrive tomorrow."
    >> Subcontractor Klaus 09/10/09(Thu)13:28 No.5803069
At this point I see it much more likely that he truly is an independent factor (especially in light of how he tried to come over as a defector to us in the first place); with it being much more likely that he would monopolize our forces to liberate his synth-brothers from Centauri control. So it would be in our best interests to keep him occupied, first, and then feed him slightely increased responsibility as a sign of trust. (Even if we are constantly keeping one eye in his direction...)
    >> Anonymous 09/10/09(Thu)13:31 No.5803104
Once the blueprints get there, build two facilities. One at our main HQ, and one at the Kil'Thweq HQ.

Come to think of it, these names aren't working.

How about our landing site is known as HQ1. And our new facilities near the mothership is HQ2?

We don't want to build the bridge, btw
    >> Subcontractor Klaus 09/10/09(Thu)13:31 No.5803111
Add the Examination Facility to the list of construction projects at the Mothership Base and lets get to work cracking some of that sweet, sweet Kil'thweq tech. (I'd personally vote on the Heat Ray and then the Propulsion engine, though all the tech looks handy.)

Firstly, 70 could be a spy, so he's not getting a body.

Skimmer technology is strange naval technology. The advantage is that they're incredibly fast. The disadvantage is that as soon as they're off-land, they accelerate until they reach maximum velocity - then they deccelerate when they approach land again, finally stopping on the beach or in a cliff. Skimmers are not land-capable and there is no such thing as "stopping" as long as you're in the ocean.

As for thermobaric, it's technology that can be used in artillery shells and cruise missles. It works in two stages. First stage, it releases a massive blastwave that can strip flesh from bone and tear the plating from a drone's frame. Second stage, it releases a wave of fire that can turn bones to ash and melt drone circuitry immediately. It's fast-acting, and it's devastating against anything that isn't heavily armoured.

The "tracked drone" design wouldn't work so well in combination with the powered armour - because then you're essentially turning it into a superheavy combat drone.

The advantage of powered armour drones with legs is that the thrusters will still function, allowing them to temporarily move at incredible speeds. Sure, the disadvantage of this is that they're less stable therefore more fragile - but the advantage is they're much more mobile.

We will need to do some Island hoping in our combat with Uni-Peace...

Our big problem from that is as it last stood it sounded like they were a largely guerilla force, so finding their main bases is a top priority and we should attempt to locate these before begining conflict in earnest (if possible) to try to win the war before the first battle.

However, I have a bad feeling that we might have to deal with tunnelers here (ala 'Nam) which could vastly complicate our strategies and would require quite a bit of adaptation to our strategy to properly fight. This would also give them a massive coordination advantage based on their ability to appear relatively wherever they want.

Comrade 70 has decided to rename himself Comrade Samson.

24 HHaulers and 78 Artillery HCDs have been deactivated.

What do you want to do now?

You can only construct SHConstructors, SHCombat Drones, SHHaulers, and SHTransports.
No harvesters - superheavy drones are too large and cumbersome for harvesting or sampling.

Start building superheavies haulers and harvesters, and delegate the ones in the mothership to other mines / gas pockets.

Did we choose the technology we would be getting from Alphastar in exchange for the prawns?

Do we have roads between HQ1 & 2?

Should we buy amphibious schematics and explore northeast?
Otherwise we could save up for that techlab...
    >> Anonymous 09/10/09(Thu)15:48 No.5804622
Ah. My mistake. In that case, order enough superheavy haulers to replace all existing haulers, and deactivate the latter as the former come online.
    >> Anonymous 09/10/09(Thu)15:49 No.5804634
Let's start produce SH Haulers, at a ratio of 1 SH for every 2 H. Do the same for H Constructors. Once a SH of either type is built send 2 of that type to be recycled.
    >> Plasma !UHUuLXLjhk 09/10/09(Thu)15:49 No.5804642
Using all 7 facilties, you shoud be able to make 42 SHHaulers.
In order to replace all of your HHaulers, you need 30 SHHaulers.

Yes, there are roads. Your HConstructors built them on the way.

    You bought thermobaric technology.

I strongly support Eastward expansion via bridge construction. Caveat: Unipeace is likely to have boats. Boats may be a threat to our bridges. Still, I'd like to head that direction. Gas is running out, and we can't tap Kil'thweq gas (That's the Centauri gas now)

I recommend some Lasers Drones (of any weight) support our artillery. Lasers are our best Anti-air, and generalist attackers.
The land is there to plunder NOW, but soon others will grab it. Land races -> Feeling the need for speed, here.

I recommend our Construction Facilities churn out More SuperHeavy Constructors at 50%. We have MANY constructions coming. And as our projects get bigger, so do their Worktime.) If they get expensive, or idle, we can shut them down.

I like Comrade 70. He's a strong ally, with a strong motivation. I engage him in philosophical discussion, about his treatment at the hands of 137, the procreation of Synthetic life, and matters like "what do Synthetics do for fun?" If he has an answer, I'm eager to here it. If not, we teach him the meaning of fun. Also, get an estimate on how many of his 'brothers' are in need of rescue? This is still a good course of action to pursue, in the mid to long run. . .

I support hiring, and bringing in a science team. They know more about tech production/reengineering than we do, so we can focus our efforts were they are best placed. Making money, and breaking faces.

Sonic weaponry is area-of-effect - it disorientates and incapacitates everyone caught within the area. Only effective against organics.

Explosive bolt weaponry shoots out rocket-propelled rounds designed to pierce armour. Approximately 0.03 seconds after impact, the round explodes. Highly effective against heavily armoured opponents.

Laser pulse weaponry fires the laser in high-powered pulses rather than constantly. This method is generally much more efficient in combat and is effective against all targets.

Hrm. I think that Uni-peace has explosive bolts, based on previous combat reports. They do shred our heavy bots really well.

I advise building swarms of LCDs (laser style). A) they are cheaper (so can more heavily produced)
    B) Vs. Explosive bolts, still as vulnerable, but now we have numbers advantage.
    C) they MOVE faster, which means more likely to dodge, If We incorporate a Moving force into our tactics, (Not just a standstill firing line). I'm sure Comrade Samson could facilitate this. He's our tactical genius. Let's put that to use.
