    Welcome back to Corp Quest.
In this number-crunching quest, each poster is a member of a tiny subcontracting firm that works for TradeStar, a super-corporation in the far future. Your job is initiate a massive mining project on a planet that TradeStar has unofficially named 'Hajjar'. Once you have reached the level of production stated in the first thread, your mission will be complete and you will be allowed to leave the planet, with enough cash to keep you in luxury for the rest of your lives.
However, there are problems. The natives are hostile and there are several other corporations looking to exploit the planet and looking to exploit you. How you deal with these threats is up to you.
Recently, with the aid of Centauri Synthetics, you have crushed the Kil'thweq Corporation, a group of alien imperialists. You've also bought Centauri Synthetic's finest military mind, Comrade 70. It's the second day of the second month on the planet, and it's up to you, the subcontractors, to decide what to do next.
Just wait for me to post details of the latest day.

Primary goal; develope a base adjacent to the Kil'thweq mothership wreckage and start mining that, and nearby Heavy Metals, like a madman.

Begin a troop withdraw and prepare for counter-Insurgency tactics against the Uni-Peace forces, though we will likely want to investigate the possibility of mine based technology for the purposes of terrain denial; thereby limiting their avenues of counterattack...

Also; if we've got the funds after these initiatives lets look into grabbing that reverse engineering gizmo, could be quite lucrative with the tech we've salvaged from them prawns.

    >>5802760
The Mothership Propulsion System is highly advanced but not without its flaws. Their efficiency is massively reduced when inside an atmosphere. They are capable of interstellar travel but unfortunately, due to the obliterated Mothership engine, you currently have no sample of FTL technology.

The Mothership Heat Ray is designed for defense in an atmosphere. It fires a stream of heat that immediately ignites the air, in a straight line. It is devastating against all targets. As long as there is no obstacle, the heat ray can hit anything from any distance.

Last estimate Plasma gave us for the bridge was that it would take all of our constructors a prohibitive amount of time to construct the bridge; and we also would have to deal with the fact that Uni-Peace has watercraft (which we don't), so they could make life hell for us if we expand over a demolish-able bridge...

Also; if we were able to reverse engineer the Kil'thweq tech, would we combine the propulsor with the heat ray to create a low geosynchronous orbit Ion Cannon Satellite type deal? (The satellite tech alone might be worth buying the reverse engineering tech for, as that would help us solve some of our information gaps.)

However, your heavy constructors are going to build a construction facility and a storage facility and the Kil'thweq Mothership currently.
They will arrive tomorrow and they will be able to complete both projects by the next day.

Also, you contact TradeStar about the Examination Facility.
"Okay, we'll require 5000 extra tons of heavy metals by the end of the month. If you don't have the heavy metal by then in addition to the minimum 2500 tithe, you're going to have to pay in a much harder way.

At this point I see it much more likely that he truly is an independent factor (especially in light of how he tried to come over as a defector to us in the first place); with it being much more likely that he would monopolize our forces to liberate his synth-brothers from Centauri control. So it would be in our best interests to keep him occupied, first, and then feed him slightely increased responsibility as a sign of trust. (Even if we are constantly keeping one eye in his direction...)

Skimmer technology is strange naval technology. The advantage is that they're incredibly fast. The disadvantage is that as soon as they're off-land, they accelerate until they reach maximum velocity - then they deccelerate when they approach land again, finally stopping on the beach or in a cliff. Skimmers are not land-capable and there is no such thing as "stopping" as long as you're in the ocean.

As for thermobaric, it's technology that can be used in artillery shells and cruise missles. It works in two stages. First stage, it releases a massive blastwave that can strip flesh from bone and tear the plating from a drone's frame. Second stage, it releases a wave of fire that can turn bones to ash and melt drone circuitry immediately. It's fast-acting, and it's devastating against anything that isn't heavily armoured.

The "tracked drone" design wouldn't work so well in combination with the powered armour - because then you're essentially turning it into a superheavy combat drone.

The advantage of powered armour drones with legs is that the thrusters will still function, allowing them to temporarily move at incredible speeds. Sure, the disadvantage of this is that they're less stable therefore more fragile - but the advantage is they're much more mobile.

However, I have a bad feeling that we might have to deal with tunnelers here (ala 'Nam) which could vastly complicate our strategies and would require quite a bit of adaptation to our strategy to properly fight. I like Comrade 70. He's a strong ally, with a strong motivation. I engage him in philosophical discussion, about his treatment at the hands of 137, the procreation of Synthetic life, and matters like "what do Synthetics do for fun?" If he has an answer, I'm eager to here it. If not, we teach him the meaning of fun. Also, get an estimate on how many of his 'brothers' are in need of rescue? This is still a good course of action to pursue, in the mid to long run. . .

I support hiring, and bringing in a science team. They know more about tech production/reengineering than we do, so we can focus our efforts were they are best placed. Making money, and breaking faces.

    Well, that's convenient.

Someone also wanted to know what possible weapon technology is currently available for purchase.

AlphaRange is willing to trade in exchange for slaves of the type and number already listed. They offer:
    Sonic Weaponry
    Explosive Bolt Weaponry

    TradeStar can also sell:
Pulse Laser Weaponry - 10000 TONS

    6 Explosive Missiles

Also - what sort of drones do you want to produce today and do you want them to be amphibious?

Let's figure out how they're doing this, before we do anything so rash as to provoke an outright war.
Or, at the very least, fire a dummy missile at the area first. Replace the warhead with a few supplies and some cryptic message or something, just to confuse them.

How should we go about finding out information about this barrier?
Allied intelligence? Can we import some expertise, as >>5805426 suggested?

I meant east, as in Bridging the narrow channel. Not into Uni-peace territory. Into the neutral zone.

Bridge is expensive, but we have Constructors and metal so. . . Let's head there.

Sonic weaponry is area-of-effect - it disorientates and incapacitates everyone caught within the area. Only effective against organics.

Explosive bolt weaponry shoots out rocket-propelled rounds designed to pierce armour. Approximately 0.03 seconds after impact, the round explodes. Highly effective against heavily armoured opponents.

Laser pulse weaponry fires the laser in high-powered pulses rather than constantly. This method is generally much more efficient in combat and is effective against all targets.

Hrm. I think that Uni-peace has explosive bolts, based on previous combat reports. They do shred our heavy bots really well.

I advise building swarms of LCDs (laser style). A) they are cheaper (so can more heavily produced)
    B) Vs. Explosive bolts, still as vulnerable, but now we have numbers advantage.
    C) they MOVE faster, which means more likely to dodge, If We incorporate a Moving force into our tactics, (Not just a standstill firing line). I'm sure Comrade Samson could facilitate this. He's our tactical genius. Let's put that to use.

Set General Samson to military bot control, for defensive purposes. Incorporate dodging into tactics. Build small swarmers.

So our bases have no form of passive detection capabilities?

Thoughts: We have 70's old body right? Can we analyse it and try to make our own version of their super agile death squids?

Also, I've been thinking: Maybe we should synthesize some droids to act as leaders to others (a leader harvester, Sampler, etc.) or at least synthesize some of our soldiers so they can have better reactions when fighting.
    >> Anonymous 09/10/09(Thu)17:46 No.5805995
Do we know where any Uni-Peace building, or camps are? Because if we do, I suggest we open up our response to them killing our droids by blasting them with some of those new rockets we got recently.

And then the droids start rolling in...
