Considering that the Brother Mansoon and Brother Iratus team single-handedly cleared a traitor base and then proceeded to drop into the rear of the main enemy, relieve the pinned Astartes force and then take out an orbital cannon that prevented the Chapter battle barge from providing support, I'd say we're up for a promotion.

    >Wound Limit Reached.

You hear the thunderous steps of a mighty Dreadnought stride across the bay to meet you as a drop pod opens for boarding.

"I AM WELL BROTHER. LET US RETURN TO CAPTAIN SAEVIO AND AID IN THE PURGE."

He passes by you as a pair of Techmarines step aboard to ensure he is safely secured. You manage to safely strap yourself against the bulkhead of an empty passenger slot. The doors close.

A hum of prayers and litanies of faith and protection fill the air around you as you suddenly drop into silence.

Nothing. Just the sound of your own breathing through the recyclers in your suit of Power Armour.

Slowly, the noise outside begins to get louder as you hit the atmosphere once again. Screaming through the sky as you did mere hours ago, you land with the impact of a meteor, your pod safely landing 50 meters from the established drop point. You remain strapped in as Iratus charges out, his assault cannon revving to speed, only groaning as his auspex registers "No Targets."

    You leave the pod.

    >Find out where Captain Saevio and the enemy are, relative to us.

You move from the drop zone towards the main lines. The base has been once again brought under Imperial Control, guardsmen are escorting traitors to cells for later purposes. You find the Captain discussing things with some guardsmen and a Commissar and Platoon Commander. There is a group of Veterans behind them. Saevio notices your presence.

"Ah, Brother Mansoon. Good to see you back on the field of battle. I trust the heretic was questioned?"

"Indeed, sir. Galemaster Dewey assisted me. He has contacted the Inquisition concerning the girl. It appears she is a latent psyker."

"Astounding that one such as her was not found sooner. The Commander here informs me that a group of guardsmen who were around her began to act strange after a few days. Seems the taint of chaos runs thick. But, nay, the Orks are the threat now. We have driven them back to their Ork Fortress over the hills, but they are dug in tightly. We can cut this incursion off at the head if we destroy their base and remove their Warboss. A Waaagh! is nothing without its leader."

"Understood. What are your orders, Captain?"

"You were promoted by your Brother Sergeant to act in his stead when you landed. I am formally awarding you the title of Brother Sergeant and as such, you will be assigned a squad of Battle Brothers to guide and watch over as your own.
    >> Negi !B2bSxiuNtM 09/12/09(Sat)01:07 No.5825531
But until then, these guardsmen have volunteered to follow you. Your task is to scout out the Ork Fortress and find a gap in their defenses. Report back immediately, and may the Emperor watch over you, Brother."

    "The Emperor Protects, Captain."

The guardsmen salute you in their carapace armour. There are 20. They have an assortment of weapons. 2 have Plasmaguns, 6 have Lasguns, 6 have Shotguns, 2 have Heavy Flamers, and 4 have a Power Fist and a Laspistol. They all have Frag grenades, Meltabombs, and 2 have Demolition Charges. They all also wear camo cloaks.

You arrange in this formation as you leave the Imperial lines, the sky beginning to darken. Iratus hangs 50m behind your group to give your squads some distance to creep. It takes you an hour to traverse the battlefield, Orks and Guardsmen slaughtered all around, your occasional battle brother slain atop the bodies of several orks, too far for the Apothecaries to safely recover their geneseed. Each one another to avenge.
You reach the 'gates' of the Ork Fortress, essentially two large hills with a Waaagh! Banner spanning the gap. Iratus takes a firing position at a safe distance so that if the situation merits, he can swing into action and support you. Your squad is forced to tighten formation as you enter the pass between the hills...

Try to move around the ridge and to get a look at the Orks and how they might be responding or entrenched. If they've noticed anything going on fall back to the current positions of cover among the rocks or to Brother Iratus' position, he'll definitely appreciate some guests.

    >Move up behind the sentry post.

You take postitions beneath the post as Belarius moves up the ladder to the post. He peers through his scope at the Ork Fortress.

*bzzt* "Sir, they're building something. It looks big."

    "What does it look like?"

"Looks like... Oh, Throne. You might want to inspect this yourself, Sir."

You climb up the Tower, obviously meant to house an Ork as well, as it does not give way to your bulk. The guardsman hands you the Long Las scope. Your night vision enhancements kick into effect as both of your hearts skip a beat.

You can see the distinct shape of a Stompa being constructed.

The Ork Fortress itself is walled in the front heavily, with lighter armour in the rear. The front has 4 Shoota Posts, and you can see a Mek with some monstrous weapon strapped to his back, Emperor only knows what it does.

From what you see, you'd gauge it at around 70% completed. It has the distinct shape, and it's arms are moving. Grots and a few Meks are all over it, welding in 'xtra amour plates, and generally fixin' it up to be dead stompy.

"Guardsmen, who amongst you has the legs to carry a message at the speed of a boltgun shot?"

"That'd probably be Ibarazaki, Sir. She's the fastest one of us."
One of the plasmagunners points at a female guardsman whose looking over her combat shotgun. You can see what look like Mk 8 Astartes Pattern Greaves over her lower thighs, but you see that they're simply armoured facings for bionic replacements.
She jumps to her feet at attention as you approach.
"Guardsman? You have the speed to get our message to the Imperial Lines with haste?"
"I'm the fastest here, Sir. I can beat any of these laggers in a race or out last any of them. They got the endurance of an old grox."
"Good. Emperor guide you, Guardsman. Get to Captain Saevio and alert him of the Stompa being constructed."
She salutes you and chambers a round into her shotgun as she tears off into the darkness from whence you came. She's a lot faster than she looks.

The guardsmen put a wound onto the Big Mek as Iratus' gun clears and revs to speed. His huge legs move faster as he charges the lines. You manage to keep pace.

The guardsmen lay down surpressive fire from afar with the plasma guns and lasguns, the two snipers taking potshots at other targets, trying to stop the Big Shoota turrets.

With a furious leap, you jump atop Iratus' chassis, using it as a spring vault to launch yourself upwards to the Ork Fortress Battlement. You bring your power weapon down into the mek, using your momentum and weight to drive it home, slaying the Ork. You kick the body away as you withdraw your blade, having pierced the Shok Attack Gun. You're lucky you kick the body away, as it explodes in a flash, leaving a smal crater of un-reality as the matter that occupied the space is ripped into the warp.
