    218 KB Astartes Quest - Part 5 : THE 'STOMPA'ING Negi !B2bSxiuNtM 09/13/09(Sun)23:45 No.5851469
You stand before the Ork Fortress on the battlement, the guard towers slowly toppling one by one as Brother Iratus unleashes his fury upon the support structures.

But you are troubled by something much worse.

Although far less armoured than it would be, had they not activated it, the Stompa is operational. Your grip strengthened on your power sword as you watched the Supa Dakka Kannon eradicate the brave guardsmen that followed you on this mission. The fire of Big Shootas from the sentry towers halts as Iratus finishes disabling them, charging through a wall into the fortress. His assault cannon blazes all over the place, firing indiscriminately.

    'WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!'

The brutal warcry is heard as Ork Boyz charge from the fortress, rallying around the Stompa. Meganobz move towards Iratus, led by the massive Warboss, also clad in Mega Armour and toting a pair of massive Power Klaws mounted on his Cybork Body.

Your actions here may decide the fate of this whole area.

    >Assault Cannon fire on Meganobz

Iratus is already firing at the bulky Nobz that are moving towards him. He pours hundreds of shells into them as he charges to meet them. Two of the Nobz are taken down in the hail of explosive fire, two more trampled beneath Iratus' massive bulk as he plows straight into them. The 4 remaining Meganobz and Warboss raise their claws and strike at Iratus' body.

    >OP is rolling dice IRL to save time.

Both of your hearts sink in your chest as you see two Meganobz strike Iratus hard enough to send him reeling back. The Warboss moves in and brings his Klaw down straight into the sarcophagus, ripping the sacred container open. Iratus' body stops moving as the broken, battered cadaver of your former chapter master is removed and cast aside like a ragdoll.

    >Inform your brothers that the Stompa is rigged to blow

You radio over the vox that you've rigged charges over support structures to destroy the superstructure of the Stompa. You return to the furnace room to leap off the Stompa out the open area. You're met with the sight of the white helmets of the 2nd company, Bladewind Company. The chapter's veterans clad in jump packs, bearing Storm Shields and Power Weapons, the Sergeants cleaving Orks in twain with sacred Relic Blades. You leap into the fray to join your brothers.

"Brother Mansoon is clear of the Stompa!" You hear over the vox as you see another veteran toss a satchel into the furnace room you emerged from. You fight your way towards one of the Sergeants who runs another Ork through. He sees you and reaches out to grab you. You reach to grasp his hand as his jump pack fires, the other veterans following suit to regroup deeper in the Ork Fortress, but away from the Stompa as the charges detonate.

A thunderous crash rocks the area as the supports give way, the mid-section of the Stompa collapsing like a telescope effect as it topples over, detonating in a gigantic plume of fuel, Orks, Grots, and ammuntion.

    The orks stare in awe.

Your squads are standing battle ready, the sergeant having released you after the jump.

In all seriousness, the Terminators should form a defensive line between the Orks and Iratus. Worst case scenario they act as sponges for bullets, and being Termies they can take quite a good hit or two. Bladewinds should use their mobility with the jump packs to keep the Orks off your flanks and to get a drop in on anything that looks particularly threatening (e.g. heavy weapons). Chapter Champion? The 1st Company form a phanlanx of storm shields with their Thunder Hammers as the Meganobz and Warboss through themselves against their bulk. The Klaws are easily blocked by the Storm Shields, and are returned with heavy blows from the thunder hammers, sending the Meganobz flying back into the groups of Boyz as they bellow their mighty warcry.

They ALL charge towards your groups. Bladewind Company surge skyward and plummet into the warband, rocking the ground beneath them as they fight their way through the throngs, the Terminators slowly advancing through like a killing wave, pulverizing Orks with their hammers. The Chapter Champion draws his weapons. He doesn't wield a Thunder Hammer - he has TWO Thunder Hammers. In a rage he charges into combat.

Basically, fight in general, mostly picking out tough targets with ranged weapons and taking them out, but assisting when necessary when either or is hard pressed, more so then at the current time.

    >Support Honor Guard

You turn to move with the Honor Guard who disembarked form the drop pod. A techmarine also emerges from the pod.

"Where is the Chapter Master!?" they shout over the vox. You lead them to the shattered body of Iratus' dreadnought, his cadaver mangled, lying in the ground. The Techmarine moves the the Dreadnought to take damage assessment. The Apothecaries move with all haste to Iratus' husk. You move closer as the Honor Guard stand resolute to kill anyone who dares disturb them.

You see what Iratus was. A man, of flesh, blood, and bone. His body has taken a great deal of punishment. You see the Apothecaries injecting his body with various syringes from the Narthecium, desperately trying to preserve him.

    "Brothers."

Your eyes lock open the mouth of your Chapter Master moves. Even the Honor Guard are surprised.

"I can... serve... no longer... as your... Chapter Master."

"Master Iratus, be still. You desperately require a sarcophagus to preserve your body."

"N-No, Apothecary. Such is... His will. M-Mansoon!"

You hear your name, quickly approaching the Chapter Master. Your eyes deceive you surely as you see his decrepit hand rising in a fist. Nay, he really is extending his fist towards you.

"You show... true fury... Tell... Saevio... He is your new.. Chapter Master. Honor.. and... Duty, Captain Mansoon."

Your bring your armoured fist to bear. Silence falls around you as your fist touch, sealing the decree of the Chapter Master in a final brofist.

You turn away as the Apothecaries make preparations for the recovery of his body. You draw your blade as the Honor Guard join you as you move to exact your revenge.

Sadly there is little to be had as Bladewind Company and the Assault Terminators have already opened several cans of kick-ass on the Orks. You do however stride to the fallen Warboss. The bastard is still alive, but barely.

You lift the bulk of the Mega Armoured Ork Warboss and heft him to the ruins of the Stompa. You pull the spare combat blade from your belt and grab a Choppa from one of the dead Boyz. You stake him to the Stompa by his shoulders. Taking your power sword in hand, you place the tip of the blade against the Stompa, working it like a fulcrum on a paper cutter, you slowly press through the Warboss's flesh, cleanly sheering off his leg. He lets out a brutal cry, which you silence with a backhand.

"I have only yet begun, Xenos scum."

You swing the blade around to remove his other leg. You walk over the the body of the dead Mek with the Shokk Attack Gun and pull it over near the staked Warboss. Taking another Choppa, you angle it vertically and insert it where you would expect it's rectum to be if it has one. Quickly withdrawing it, you pull the last remaining Demo Charge you have and JAM IT IN. You pull the charge cord and walk away, planting two rounds from your bolt pistol into the Shokk Attack Gun.

The Warboss screams as the charge explodes simultaneous with the gun disintegrating reality within the bubble of the blast.

The Waaagh has been defeated. Iratus has been avenged. You have been promoted to the rank of Captain. Saevio is the new Chapter Master of the Thundering Gales.

Your brothers join you in silence as they carry Iratus' body on a makeshift stretcher out of the valley. You're met halfway by two Rhino Transports and a Land Raider Crusader. Valkyries accompany them. The Land Raider's doors open and allow Saevio and his squad to disembark. The Apothecaries take their place along with the Honor Guard. The Land Raider has turned into a makeshift hearse for your former Chapter Master.

    "Master Saevio, Iratus has fallen."

    "Master?"

    "You are his named successor."

"I see. He was the best of us, Brother."

    "What of that lone guardsman?"

"The one who brought the message?" He points to a valkyrie.

"But let us return. We have much to discuss."

The First Company activate their teleport packs and vanish as quickly as they had come. Bladewind Company soar over the ridgelines with their jump packs, making leaps and bounds back to the drop station to board a waiting Thunderhawk.

The Valkyrie lands nearby. The lone veteran slowly walks to the scorched earth where ( whats left of them ) the remains of her squadmates are. She collapses to her knees, grabbing the earth in fists of rage and sorrow. You step to her, lifting her by the straps of her Carapace Armour.

"They are with the Emperor, Guardsmen. They died in His name fighting that monstrosity." You point to the wrecked skeletal hulk of the Stompa. She stiffles her sobs, staring up at your stoic demeanor (even though you have a helmet).

I cannot, and will not, dishonor their memory by pretending not to care. I will fight on, letting the shot of my bolter and the strike of my sword express the pain that I dare not show to my brothers.
