Before you open your eyes, you know nothing. You recognize very few concepts at all. All you truly know are hunger pangs gripping your mind like starvation to a stomach. It cries out and demands malice, hatred and destruction.

Upon opening your eyes you are startled that you may be blind, but as your hazy vision adjusts to the darkness you stare at solid rock and twisted roots. Covered only with a dusty and frayed brown rode, you lie on the ground. Bathing this room in an eerie light is a glowing red stone upon a pedestal. It beckons you to approach filling your empty mind with its raspy voice,

"At last you awake. I was concerned that you may never awaken. That I spent so long waiting for nothing... Come. There is much you wish to know. I can feel it."

A gleeful and maniacal laughter echoes in your mind. "Good good, it was a complete success. I can feel your very burning spirit. Dark and twisted, hungry for power." It seems the voice is coming from the stone itself. "Yes that is right, I created you. My greatest creation. And unfortunately my last creation."

Rising to your feet you feebly walk over to the voice. Your legs seem rebellious and weak, barely obeying your demands. Maybe you do indeed no nothing. Not even how to walk properly. Seeing the stone you grab it and focus your hatred on it. The voice comes even clearer now. "Do waste my time and do not think so low of me!" Red electricity erupts from the stone and paralyzes your body. Causing a great deal of pain. "I have not much time left, and as such I demand as my creation you do as I say. My successor."

A stone telling you what to do? Insulting in the least. And now it tries to electrocute you? Fuck that. You rally everything and continue crushing the stone. The stone crumbles and cracks revealing a red stone. It only appears for a moment before dissolving into your skin showing you a blinding succession of images.

Battle, Slaughter, burning wastelands. Your vision is filled with them. Then the voice once again returns.

"Listen well child. I entrust you, the last of my power in that stone. What you see is the last war. The war against good and evil that overcame me. The world has long since forgotten evil. You are the last. Grow powerful and conquer. Destroy the world, rape it demolish all things pure and beautiful. Your power comes from the evil you spread. The lives you take your bread. The souls you drag to debauchery your wine. Go forth!"

The cave rumbles and shakes as a portion the wall opposite to you collapses and sunlight banishes the darkness. A cold wind blows and white snow begins to cover the tomb. Outside the cave lies the world.

Images once again fill your vision. The cold wasteland vanishes and is replaced by a black and scotched wasteland. You stand tall upon a balcony over looking a massive host of armored soldiers. Most as tall as men, but feral and frenzied. Some large and brutish with bulging biceps. When the images fade you notice you look upon the same land, but the spender of this tower is long gone. And where has the army and its members gone? It seems the mountain you stand on is in fact not a mountain, but some kind of fortress. IT has seen better days.

Soldiers. An army is by far the best tool for the job. It seems nothing could possibly live here though. You decide to march across the cold wastes in search of any sign of life. The cold doesn't even seem to slow you down at all. Your skin doesn't even burn at the sensation of snow. Odd since all you're wearing is a ragged old robe. As the sun dives below the horizon and rises once again in succession several times this walking business isn't so hard either. Eventually even the snow covered pains and hills vanish. Towering pine trees draped in a coat of fine white dominate the landscape. Eventually you come across a group of eight covered white wagons. You can see by your count about 20 men tending the horses and oxen. they appear to be resting.

As you approach the caravan you are spotted quickly and a small group rush out toward you. "By Valtir! What happened to you stranger?" This man is quickly pushed out of the way by a much broader and muscular man wearing expensive looking furs, his steely stare scrutinizing you. Maybe lesser men would cower, but you care not. The man looks like their leader but remains silent as his men continue looking between you and him. The exchange is interrupted by a pot bellied and bald man wearing red robes appearing behind him. "Kelgris, does not the guardian preach charity? This man looks sick and hungry. We must aid him." The man pushes by him and addresses your directly. The old man is far to trusting. Leaving you with a poor excuse for a meal he kneels down to pray to an iron idol. It appears to be depict a brightly shining star. With his eyes still closed you walk behind him and raise the object from its pedestal. Still kneeling he turns his head to address you, "What is the mater my child? Are you?-"

The object is heavy in your hands, but with both arms you bring one of the sharp metal edges of the star down toward his head piecing his eye and rending his face. Blood pools on the ground. He is quite dead. Disappointing. You don't really feel like it was a challenge. The feeling is euphoric. You feel alive.

But how to deal with the other men. It took so much of your strength just to lift that thing. The men might overpower you in your weakened state.

Caution is for the weak. You steel yourself and hoist the symbol of good now drenched in blood and exit the wagon. Blood has soaked your robes and drips from your arm. The sight has caught the attention of the other men who approach you worried. "Look now the stranger is bleeding! You alright there? I thought the priest was looking after you." The man foolishly gets to close and with all your strength you swing the idol in front of you catching the flesh of his neck cutting the artery. The others stand in shock and disbelief. They don't understand. All the better, you crush their skulls too. As the fifth one falls. Heavy foot steps plod behind you. The man they call Kelgris approaches alone sword in hand. "My fortunes were right. I would find a madman on my journey."

He strides towards you with clear killing intent. Too bad, you think, good muscle is always hard to find. But examples have to be made. You throw the idol in his direction, but it merely bounces off his chest. Seems you lack true strength still.

Things seem bad, but you manage to step out of the way from his first swing aimed at your head. Your balance could be better though, causing you to fall prone on your back, the hood of your robe unveiling your face. It appears Kelgris appears terrified and momentarily stunned.

He is chosen to be one of the elect who will change the world, and the impetus lies upon him to change himself afore he can hope to change the hearts of this world. The powers he believes he knows have grown complacent, and he must remind the people of the new glory.

You regret it at first because you feel like you might have broken your foot doing it, but the attack still has an effect as he doubles over. Favoring your stinging foot you tackle the man and seize the sword still in his grasp and start to push it toward his neck. Embebbing the sword in the hard frozen ground beside Kalgris' head you bring your other hand to his forehead. He struggles and squirms but it is far too late. You gather up the darkness inside and you watch as black tendrils of smoke twist and turn over and under your arm toward him. The power collects in your open hand and then suddenly taking the form like a nail pieces through his skull. Blue shards, glass like and clear scatter across the snow from the exit wound. You watch the shards rise toward the heavens. The serenitiy in which they do displeases you for some reason. It makes you ill just looking at them. The smoke is gone however, it has entered into the man who lies motionless but with eyes open on the ground. But now the price is to be paid, your heart burns and feels like it is being squeezed. Too much dark arts for your weak body to attempt. You can hardly move and breathing is hard. You hear shouts and approaching footsteps.

Men from the caravan appear from behind one of the wagons that was blocking line of sight from the rest of the camp. There are about ten of them. Even with your arms in searing pain you bring the robed hood back over your head. Upon asking what happened you reply that ravenous beasts had attacked and fled. They see the blood and are alarmed but are confused why there are no animal tracks. Seeing the two of you in your state they carry you to a new wagon and lay you down to rest. To survive the pain you lie in meditation from what memories you can piece together. The stone said, "The lives you take your bread. The souls you drag to debauchery your wine." Your body feeds on evil, and evil has been forgotten. You're body is simply emaciated and starved of its precious life source. You had felt slightly better before that spell on Kelgris, so the hunger must have been fed a bit. The greater your evil the more powerful you become. Spells will weaken you. All evil acts are not the same however, murdering while simple will not generate as much evil as giving birth to new evil.

He tells the men of what attacked you and him and killed the others. The men are confused, but they trust Kelgris enough to put aside their disbelief for now. They view you as a little less crazy now, strange, but not so crazy. You cackle as the pawns move into place. The caravan begins to move once again.

After five days of travel the caravan comes over a final rise in the road and Hinterport comes into view. It is a town housing little more then 5,000 souls. It seems to have all the basic necessities and surrounded by a 3 meter tall palisade wall. The fields around the country side seem tilled but lie frozen in winter. Guarding the gate are armed militia holding odd hollow sticks. You have never seen such devices before, they have triggers like crossbows but are not.

Determined to spread your word you climb ontop of a table and begin to tell your tale of a horrible beast.

His star shines every night in the same place anywhere. Its burning ensures the world will know no evil ever again.

Obviously this religion is all about light and stars and brightening darkness.

Our powers likely won't work here, and this is not the best place to start working on her. I'd ask for a copy of whatever their main text or teaching is.

Tell her we were on a spiritual journey when we were guided by visions of the dark times, and were lost in the wilderness for some time hence out sad state of looks. We want to learn more about her religion so we know what to manipulate to get them to become...ours.

Also make a mental not to learn how to change that force-full shadow tendril zombie brain thing into an aura of light suggestion next time, so they don't end up a zombie.

The higher they go, the farther they fall. If it is possible, we need to corrupt Cathrine without the mind spike soul shatter thing. But first, we need to know more about this religion they practice here, it seems quite prolific. Most important, is Valtir real, as in provably real. Also, what kind of technology/magical level are we seeing here. Are we dealing with straight Medieval period (besides ourselves) humanity, or something more steampunky. When we mentioned magical beasts, there seemed to be a large amount of disbelief, so is there ANY magic in this world besides the forgotten arts?

After glancing through the books, you decide to look at your reflection in the mirror. You do not know what to expect so you do it with extreme caution and pull back the hood on your robe. You hair is brown and currently ragged and unkempt, your skin seems not as horrifying or scarred as you'd have thought. You can't recall what 'beauty' is, but you're probably far from what these people call 'ugly'. What the problem is though, is your eyes. Your eyes burn like fire. There is no pupil or iris. The color is currently white. What appears like an illusion is hints of red flame jumping from the surface of your eyes. Staring into your own eyes causes the back of your brain to feel like it is melting from the heat and it hurts. Suddenly you are pulled back reality by the opening of the door to the room, you quickly put the hood back over your head and turn to see the old priest has returned with a tray and a steaming kettle and cups. "Are you thirty my child?"

You are welcome to stay here for as long as you wish. Leaving the tray behind he walks towards the door and opens it. There is a surprised yelp on the other side. Say the following.

    >"There is another way. You don't have to be a slave of the church, or a bird in a cage. You can can be a bird of prey, it all matters so little, because the world is coming to an end. Let me show you what has been done to me.. show you what has been shown to me..."

You tell her to not be alarmed while you reveal your scars. She looks frightened but nods. Reaching for your hood you cast your face downward and remove your hood. Bringing your head up you lock your gaze with hers. Her blue eyes widen with shock. You tell her the creature cursed you. The sheets fall from her hands to the floor. You tell her you need help. Her legs collapse under her and she kneels on the floor vacant look on her face. Her own face darkens over with shadow as you notice the sun has begun to set behind you. The stain glass window has shifted its colors accordingly over the room. You look at the mirror across the room. Is it an illusion, or do your eyes look like Valtir's golden eyes for just a moment. What brought about this unwitting trickery? You cannot hide the grin.

Quickly convince her that we are the avatar of Valtir, the beast has indeed cursed us, but due to our divine nature we are able to resist and channel his holy power. Deliver unto her a message of hope and salvation, but those ideas cannot be achived without fighting the beast and the non-believers.
