    Part II: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/6165188/

Premise: You are the last incarnation of true evil on the planet. Centuries have passed since the last Great War between good and evil. Monsters and wicked creatures no longer walk the earth, and evil has been forgotten. You awoke with nothing but rags and your creator’s memories given to you are fragmented and incomplete. Your strength is a mere shadow of its potential, but will grow with the evil you commit and the very presence of it in the world. Your enemy thus far is Saint Valtir, the very paladin of legend whom smote the last King of Evil and ascended to God-hood taking form of a star in the night sky.

Last time you attempted to gather the support of the Hinterport’s less morally scrupulous inhabitants. Dropping a bag of silver coins in their hands and promising more. Perhaps these dockworkers might ally with you? You will have to wait and see if your investment bears fruit. Afterward you walked in on the family troubles for Hinterport’s ruling nobility. Answering Catharine’s prayers you revealed your cursed eyes and struck the assembled party dumb. Her father, the Jarl of Hinterport, blaming you for her daughter’s disobedience, quickly turned from fear to anger and attempted to kill you. It all went as if planned. At the last moment his own daughter tried to stop him, causing him lose his balance and fall on your dagger. For your misleading an innocent soul to murder her father your weakness has been blasted away. But before you is your greatest threat yet. Catharine’s brother Eric a Paladin of Valtir, armed, armored. Your eyes have no power over him, who knows what else his holy power can do.

Current gear: Ragged robes, clothing (peasant), dagger.
Known Dark Arts: Soul Obliteration (Cost High)
    Evil Power: Unremarkable
    Minions of Note: Kelgris (Merchant/Mercenary)

You can feel a burning heat from your core. As the heat spreads you can feel every inch of your body strengthen. Your bones become less porous and brittle. Your spine straightens and new muscles and sinews embrace your swelling frame pulsating with strength. Your eyes begin to burn, but the feeling is pleasurable. The white surfaces of your eyes begin to tint a light shade of red and the flames leaping from their surface flicker more vigorously. Shards of your memory inform you that you are far from your potential and that you are no stronger then an ordinary man, but it is liberating from your previous pathetic physique. The euphoric metamorphosis tore you from reality, but as you regain your senses you notice Catharine has finally come to the realization of what has happened. Unravelling herself from her father’s corpse she scurries backward along the stone floor till she presses up against the wall, sitting and staring with wide eyed fright.

You can hear 15 feet away the fat lord panic, “Guards! Guards! Your Lord is in danger! Help! Help!”
With clarity and conviction Eric calms the chaos, “Quickly now Father. Take Lord Hornington to safety. I’ll deal with… him.”

“Cut off his head Eric! Destroy that beast! I’ll reward you handsomely.” Hornington’s voice shakes with excited terror.

You can finally hear the priest issue his own concerns, “What of the Sister?”

With a deep sigh Eric consoles the priest, “I’m sorry father, but she’ll have to pay for her crime. Too much damage may have already been done already. But I will strike down this devil and save her soul.”

Pushing the Jarl’s body of yourself you raise yourself to your feet. You stand taller then you did before. Keeping a hand on the hilt of his sword, Eric watches your next movements closely. The priest and Hornington escape through a large wooden door beside the Alter.

    Action?

Flee and bring him to where you dropped the bag of silver, ask them to aid you in slowing him down. He will not (as a paladin) be able to righteously unleash judgement upon them. Use this to your advantage and strike when the moment presents itself.

Turning your back on Eric you face the door to see several armored men with halberds rushing up the stone stairs toward the church.

Having sent the summon to Kelgris though (very end of last time) his giant frame drops down in front of church door. You think you hear his knees snap but he quickly bellow out his war cry, "My life for my Lord!" Swinging his sword down it easily pulverizes the first man's head through his helmet. The other men are stopped in their tracks before him. One thrusts his halberd into Kelgris abdomen, but the man does not falter, and because the man is stuck so close Kelgris pierces his sword through his neck, dropping him. Then pulling the halberd from his stomach he continues flailing it before him keeping the mob at bay. You can hear the panic and screams of the general population outside.

    There will be no escape.

Duel Rules: As usual general consensus rules. Keep it smart and descriptive. Impossible feats will get you injured and killed.

From the one man's dead hands you pry loose his halberd.

"My Lord! I will hold the door with all my worth!"

You can hear foot steps echo from within the church, Eric is approaching fast.

You feel a sudden shove from Kelgris as a thunderous roar pierces the night sky. A cloud of red mist erupts from Kelgis Shoulder. Standing at the bottom of the stairs is a kneeling militia man with one of those wooden sticks. He is filling it with something and pushing it inside with another metal pole. Inside the Church Kelgris slams the doors behind you as more thunderous blasts are heard outside.

"Are you ready to meet your end now, Devil?" Eric stands about 10 feet away with sword drawn and pointed.

    Indeed.
For fight: Play it smart. We've got range on him. Strike at openings, bide time until-
The girl: As the fight goes slowly work our way toward her so as not to make our intent obvious. Once close enough, grab her and hold as a human shield. Barter for safe passage. If the paladin cuts her down rather than let us go, that should contribute to the evil in the world. If safe passage works, once in the clear, take the girl with us, don't kill her- she has promise for further corruption if we can break her in properly.
Kelgris: If we can swing passage, see if we can get him treated if still alive, if not have the body brought with. Perhaps we can reward him with unlife as power grows.

The penalty for murder and kinslaying is first tearing parts that they deem "evil" from your soul, then death. Come with us, help us, and she can be spared that fate. With halberd still hefted at Eric you wrap one arm around Catharine's shoulder and draw her close. Copping a feel while you're at it. You are pretty evil as you are sly after all.

Eric remains stoic as before except now he has lowered his sword and raised the charm to point it at you. Your eyes burn for but a moment, but everything goes dark quickly.

Eric's calm voice finally shatters, "CATHARINE!!"

A silky white hand removes itself from in front of your eyes.

"Ban-banishing light. An old lyric of Valtir's." Cathrine sounds like someone who has signed herself away, with her eyes downcast.

You can see the charm still pulsate with a little holy light. He brings his left hand still with charm in hand to the hilt held now in both hands and charges with sword held low.

You make it in time but Eric's sword embeds deep into the wooden shaft. You both stand in a deadlock, you trying to keep Eric at bay while he tries to split your heft in two. Pass the dagger to Catherine, allow her to "escape" as you level the halberd to negatew the paladin's charge.

Catherine returns to her brother's side, crying about what we made her do before breaking down into a sob. The paladin places himself between us and her. We attack, he defends, and Catherine makes her move.

Keep him out of reach with the halberd. Take a few conservative shots at him while still remaining cautious. Catherine needs some time to get into position and we need to keep his attention. Also, if he fucks with that charm again try to knock it out of his hands.
    >> Anonymous 10/09/09(Fri)01:07 No.6197311
First off hold the Halberd in a defensive stance. If the Paladin wants to charge, he's going to charge into the blade and kill himself. Bravo Paladin, so this forces him to take a defensive stance also.

Control of the situation cannot be maintained by relying upon Catharine as a human shield, because the Paladin has charged. Clearly with intent to strike. And that would mean cleaving through Catharine, so she has proved as a useless deterrent.

But with a dagger snuck in her hand and having her cast aside, she might prove herself as a suitable assassin.

Meanwhile we keep the Paladin's attention by questioning his faith ala what >>6197250 said.
Once Catharine is in position, we feign an attack, and let Catharine stab the shit out of his neck from behind. Severing the spine and landing him on the ground like a fish on dry land.

Catharine lays sprawled out on the floor for a moment, she looks back at your struggling with Eric your halberd shaft and his sword sway back and forth and ebb and flow in a match of strength. She scurries along the floor and reaches for the dagger she dropped in the fall and stands holding the dagger clasped in both hands. She looks up and down and at both you and Eric. Is she having doubts? Maybe she is looking for an opening?

You can hear your helberd shaft start to crack.

Eric's final blow is too reckless, you are more resilient then a punch to the jaw. You bring up your hands to his eyes and jab at them with your thumbs. His hands break from their fists and grab onto your before you can burrow any deeper and gouge them out. You can feel the same burning from before, it still hurts but it is not enough to slow you down. Having prepared for him to grab your hands you headbutt him in the nose and he falls backwards bringing you down ontop of him. With hands sprawled above his head you raise your own fists to pay him back in kind.

"Your sister is not an object. She is a woman." You slam your right fist onto his face, smashing it left into the stone floor. "A beautiful human with a bright future ahead of her. And yet you choose to deny her of her freedom." As he brings his face back up you punch with your left smashing it right. "The freedom she needs to peruse her own happiness. Even if you kill me, you can never undo what you've done for your sister. You've condemned her to death, or maybe worse." You continue smashing him in the face his pretty boy face that had pissed you off so much before swelling and bleeding. But before you can deliver more blows to finish him off his whole body begins to glow with radiant light.

Raising your right arm you focus your inner burning core into it. You watch as black smokey tendrils weaves over and under your arm. You then reach your hand over his forehead and prepare to impale him. But for some reason your hand stops an inch before it reaches his skin. You cannot force you hand any closer. A sudden force throws you from Eric's body as you lift into the air and land on and break one of the wooden benches. When you raise to your feet Eric is standing up once again. He places his hands onto his bloody face and the swelling goes away and the caked blood vanishes to reveal his face once again.

"I'll gladly give up my life for this power to see you undone. The Hinter family and its long bloodline may end with me and my sister now. A thousand years spent to bring me to end you a small price to pay to make evil gone forever." Eric's voice resonates with something else besides his own.

You watch as Catharine leaps and crawls over the wooden benches on the other side of the isle and gets into position. You need to make a plan to hold and distract him long enough.

Your arm still swells with the dark arts you drew. It may be your only way to cancel out his holy aura. But how to use it right? You will only have one chance.

He seems of very strong resolve, and to be a very good paladin. I'd use the power We've summoned to twist and empower the dagger our helper is wielding to help her get through that aura and his armor.

The fact that the dagger had just taken part in some very dark murder might help it as well. Use whatever is left without draining too much to ready an aura to protect us if she takes too long, then lets put our dark faith in her to "do the right thing" and stand there as the open target.

    *sigh* Here it is.

This world is DEVOID of evil, it'll take some baby steps, and the townfolk killing an innocent (whether they know it or not) is very important. It'll taint them just enough.

Also tainting the common folk is far more important than going for nobles. Making a noble subjugate his people will may seem like a quick way to blanket some evil, but it could have the opposite effect. Doing so would give evil a figurehead, something for the common people to rally against for the common GOOD. It's what probably caused the downfall before. Evil had a face, a form. There was a group to point to and say "Destroy and become a hero!"

We must avoid this at all costs. We must keep the image of a lowly beggar. Our citadel will not be a bastion of hell on earth, it will be a retreat to get away to really lay low and plan long term. Our minions will not be ravening beasts and vicious men, they will be deceit, distrust, malicious greed, and murder.

This is how we will seize the world. This is how we will seize the souls of men. This is how we will win.

Ok, now to survive this so we can continue in that vain.

Obviously we can not directly effect this paladin. Use a small fraction of our power to create an illusion of dark armor surrounding us. This is a distraction. The bulk of our power will be going to boosting the girl's feeling of hate toward her brother for trying to contain her, and her physical prowess. She will then get behind her brother and drive the dagger into the base of his skull.

This time, it it is not from your memories you rely upon. Now is not time to rely on someone who feel to such holy magic as this. But for what you have in mind you need more power. You pull deep within yourself, all the strength you can muster. Your breaths become clouds of white as the air becomes cold around you. The very stones begin to frost over and the wooden benches frostbit that they shatter on their own accord. Eric begins to take his strides toward you his holy aura getting closer and closer. Your frost and darkness mesh with his own aura. Then you gather up all the dark smokey magic into your palm and it burns black, no light can escape from it. You then reach your hand holding the flame up above you head to the heavens with an open palm. With a single pulsar of black light a lightless beam of dark energy erupts upwards shattering the stone roof above you bringing small stones and woods around you. The light outside becomes even more dark and forbidding.

"You missed Devil. Now it is your end."

"No Paladin. I did not miss."

    "Hmmm?"

"I was aiming for the eye of your god."

There are no stars or moon shining above Hinterport.

Eric's eyes widen briefly as his holy aura fades. You can hear the sound of metal thudding into flesh. Blood erupts from his mouth as he coughs violently. He collapses to his knees then his face lies down on the frost covered stone floor. A dagger sticking out of the base of his spine on the neck.

Catharine is shaking. You are laughing.

Send out Catharine to check on Kelgris.

Chase down the priest and lord on our own.

Kill two birds with one stone, take the Paladin's blade with us.

I'm not comfortable with just the dagger, claim the sword as well.
    >> Anonymous 10/09/09(Fri)02:22 No.6198142
Kelgris slammed the church doors shut behind you.
That sound was followed with GUNFIRE.
    HE'S DEAD.

Also grab the charm and dagger, just to be sure.

The paladin's body isn't going anywhere.

Placing Catharine aside you strike over to the corpse of Eric. You see the holy symbol still clutched in his hand. You rip it from his pried fingers. To let out some steam you stomp his exposed head into the stone floor one last time with a loud wet thud. You then remove the dagger from the back of his neck. You then set your eyes on the door the lord and priest escaped behind. You here Catharine following behind you.

    KELGRIS IS DEAD!

Take Catherine, the dagger, and that charm. We can corrupt it hopefully. Run out a back door.

This, but try to recall Kelgris as well.
Yes, yes, take possible future relics along as well.
If Kelgris has fallen, make note to find out where the body is dumped.

    This dagger.

It was used for we don't know what by the guy we stole it from, so there's the possibility it's already been used for evil in some form.

It was used in connection with a priestess killing her father.

It was used directly by the priestess to kill her brother.

We must bless it. Enchant it. Use it in ritual sacrifices. FEED ITS EVIL!

Hollow Star sounds pretty good actually.

We will corrupt the dagger with the soon to be fouled energies of the charm. The power we will vest it with will in turn corrupt any who wield it.
