After a long moment of thought, and the snide grinning of the vampire. You stand there shaking your head. It is hard to decide what to do and you stand there debating within your head. Finally you look back at the others and nod for them to make for the door.

They seem reluctant, but they listen to you, slowly withdrawing and looking confused by your actions.

"I didn't come here to chat politics with you all, I'm not even the mayor of the town... and my actions do not speak for them.."

The Fat Lord stares you down.

"So then what DID you come here for!?"

You slowly respond, trying to look apologetic.
"Your cousin died trying to save me over a year ago. I came to give you a blessing in thanks, as I know you were dear friends with him." Your hands begin to move just as you were taught, just as you practiced. The Vampire's head tilts to the side, and suddenly you lash out, turning your body and blasting him in the face with a stream of sunlight.

( Tried to combine as many as I could, while not just tossing out others.)

A loud hiss fills the hall, and everyone, turns to face you. The Lord looks as if he has just soiled himself, and you can hear guards running up behind you.

"Dear gods he's melted off his face!" The pig-man shouts, people are yelling and running in your direction. The vampire lies, unmoving but you swear his skeletal and burnt face looks like it is grinning up at you. Playing the victim.

You pull free your hammer and shield and stand ready. Next action? Try to let them know what you've done?

People stop and begin to whisper, the Lord stutters as he tries to speak back to you. You can feel it. You KNOW IT, he's in on this. He's letting a vampire feed and live in his city, he's protecting him for power and immortal life.

You can almost laugh at the joy it brings you as you crush this smug, evil fucker. In your head you're thinking of the necks drunk dry by his men, killing the hunters you were teamed up with, his insults, and threats.

Your fist comes down over and over, and fate seems to be on your side every time you hear the metal crack of your plates into his skull, and the wet slap of bloody flesh against the stone.

His skull is stronger then most however, and it does not give the effect of murdering him. It does however, force him to expose himself as undead to save his life.

His hand shoots up to grab your wrist, he twists off the ground and throws you, sending you sliding across the slick marble floor into the wall, but not hard enough to do more then knock the wind out of you.

The guards stand frozen in fear, backing away as his face begins to regrow.

Humans are amazing creatures, we will commit to something and never let go of that goal. We are some of the most adaptable things in this world, and we are proud of it. What this leader tried to do was a noble thing I admit, but at what point do you ignore the evils that someone commits just because they did them for gain. Your leader was a man of few morals, and I will not value anything he created. As he allied himself with a vampire and let that vampire feed on the weak that trusted him, I ally myself with beings of morals. Beings that will care for those who act in the name of the light. If that makes me a barbarian to go against humans, then so be it. I'd rather be an animal then to see useless blobs like that shove me around.

But you know it. You press your gauntlet back onto your stump and grin as your hand continues to move as if your skeleton was still inside.

You are tired of living in an age where all one can do is pull the blankets over your head and hide from the monsters. It is time to make them fear you. Wherever they hide, whatever they plan. It is time to make them pay.

You don't care what they will think of you, the world. You only care what those close might say, and even if they scorn you, you do it for them, to leave them in a better world once you die.

1, but only those who wish to come with us. And make it clear that this is never going to be "over".
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)04:12 No.6395879
Explain how that would happen please.

1.Involve all you know in Crusade and take the Training.

We need training, so far we're a pretty competent warrior who's used a fair bit of ingenuity and a lot of rage to survive, but if we're making this our life then we better go all out.
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)04:13 No.6395893
    Is that a bad thing?
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)04:14 No.6395904
...Sure, if we really do have a deathwish and are impatient about it... But I maintain that 'deathwish' is more of a catchphrase than anything else for us.
We're not a peerless warrior, if he wanted to/wasn't distracted by the guards and having a silver bolt in his skull, that vampire could have disembowled us and lined up our organs by size before we could have said "I'm Char--"
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)04:14 No.6395910
Take the training. But make sure we continue doing things our way. Never cease to have a deathwish.

Deity becomes more interested in destroying evil than protecting good, decides to use more extreme methods to eradicate evil, scoff when people balk at this because they obviously lack your transcendant moral clarity. Start to grow disgusted with the beings that allow evil to so easily rule their lives, decide they need someone strong to guide them who knows what's best.
...I don't think I have to tell you the last step...
    >> Firstquest 10/23/09(Fri)04:19 No.6395969
You've decided what you will do. You will find the enemies no matter where they rest, no matter their race or form. Evil will perish and this world will be the better for it. You will do things your way, you won't be some tool, but you feel a comfort when you think of who has always guided you, and been there for you, even when you did not trust her or pray to her.

You will take the training and become a paladin. Not a mindless one, but you will do as you see fit, and know that it is what the Goddess wants.

Your cohorts will be allowed to choose if they come on this never ending crusade with you, and whoever follows, follows, whoever does not you will hope enjoy the world you create for them.

I know this took sort of a melodramatic twist, but what evs. If it took me like 10 or 11 nights to jump the shark I don't think that is too bad haha)

suddenly i'm not as interested in this quest.

it seems to have gone from 'epic blacksmithing with a side dish of badassery in abundance' to 'lol cleave and smite your evil' with prissy deities calling the shots, trying to (and apparently succeeding at) railroading our life into something we are not.

    This is just...wrong. I'm out.

WAIT What if First IS Evil and Ol' Bronson is actually the god that purges all the evil from the world in EVIL QUEST'S PAST!?!?
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)04:33 No.6396116
We are Charles Bronson, we have a deathwish. And as a paladin this will be our motto, our creed: "I am the forger of hope, and my craft is strong and true. But I will not always be there, in your lavish halls and royal courts... No, my path is my own. But know this; man, ork, dwarf, dragon, werewolf... As long as there is a spark of good in your soul, our paths run parallel. I will always walk beside you. And when the time comes... I will be there to strike down the evils that would corrupt and consume you, I will be there in the dawning of the light, I will be there when darkness comes to take us... And my fist, my hammer, my arrows, my shield, my light will strike true. I am the deathwish, and it is upon a tightrope of nightmares I walk, and it is upon my soul that the entire world will see the light shining."
    >> Firstquest 10/23/09(Fri)04:35 No.6396137
( And as a final word for the night if I intended to RailRoadan anyplace, I'd put him with one arm, back home. Sleepan, Smokan, Smithan.)
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)04:38 No.6396162
I can't help but think this will end poorly... I mean I'm all for rightious fury, but having that consume our character? Is it really okay to get so fired up like that? I mean the people who advocated such things are likely the same ones who wanted us to shittalk and smite everyone, and join the king's vanguard, and pretty much get us horribly, horribly killed.
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)04:38 No.6396166
If shitsux, we can always just fall.
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)04:40 No.6396181
Yeah we can always just say fuck this and fall, and lose our arm and likely the power that comes with it, but oh well.
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)04:42 No.6396194
Or not so much fall as sidle to the left/not zealoutry side a bit... Make ourselves a robot arm, do some smithing, turn our town into the model for humanoid civilization, and be ready to take up our hammer for war if we need to.
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)04:42 No.6396197
Thems the breaks man. We're going to be facing a shitton of danger now, and it's far better to be a vigilant force of justice instead of plotting and planning every single thing. We roll with the punches, that is how Charles Bronson gets shit done.
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)04:45 No.6396223
You know, to me this makes sense. We did something we didn't understand, we survived, we got stronger and did more stuff, but always ignored the powers we usually used and it kept us in the middle.

Now we studied them a little, and out right decided to smite smite. Look at the evil. Smite smite. we coulda just made the axe and come home and retired, but we kept going
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)04:47 No.6396236
Yeah, but this will encourage so many "Halt evil doer" type suggestions that Firstquest will have to follow them eventually, which will end with us challenging a dragon to single combat or something and the dice don't go high enough for that. Hell, we haven't even done any crusading before, we fought the lich to save the children, fought the dragon army to help the dwarves and king/see our weapon work, and fought the vampire pretty much just because we hated the guy. I like Paladins as the Optimus Prime type pinnacals of kindness, but I'm afraid of things getting Lawful Stupid.
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)04:48 No.6396250
It's the dice, man. All the fucking dice. We tried the more reasoned shit and kept getting screwed on the rolls, but as soon as the gloves came off suddenly WHAM suddenly Fortuna's knocking at our door again begging to get facefucked.

The dice, as always, decide the destiny.
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)04:49 No.6396259
Maybe it won't? Maybe something akin to chaos will show up? Or having killed the BBEG a BBEG after the BBEG spawns. Who knows. Maybe he wont be cliche'

Partially it is the dice, but we are the ones who chose the path. Like First said, we always could have stopped at anypoint. I think that we should wait and see how this pans out before we start singing doom and gloom. Firstquest hasn't really let us down yet.

On a related note, do you guys think the scars need to be larger on the face?
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)04:57 No.6396319
It's not like I expect Firstquest to suddenly suck at writing, it's just I think he might give more weight to actions that seem more crusadery, which in the past would've gotten us killed.
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)04:57 No.6396323
Holy fuck that is awesome. I think he has more beard, but even then goddamn. Haha
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)05:00 No.6396339
Yeah it was a heck of a lot more prominent than that, I believe Firstquest made a drawing as one of the headings, it pretty much splits his face in two, from forehead to narrowly missing out nose and eye, to splitting our lip. That silver dragon doesn't mess around.
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)05:00 No.6396341
Yeah I think his face is a little more fucked, but that looks cool as is. fuckin if you make the arm and shit too I bet that would be cool as hell
    >> Anonymous 10/23/09(Fri)05:05 No.6396373

Right-o then. Massive scars it is. Also, there will be arms and such in the final one. The arms and hands are just looking terrible at the moment, so I just posted the head for feedback. It should be (hopefully) done in time for the next thread tomorrow.
