You did it, you broke reality, and with your sin of paradox, you brought everything crashing down around you. Your world no longer had the right to exist, you had undone that, destroyed that privilege you weren't even aware of with your carelessness. Its essence and lifeblood, the mercurial sands of time, seeped from the cracks you wrought into it, escaping this dying place, evaporating into dimensions beyond your ken.

As suddenly as this forbidden revelation comes, you feel everything give way as your reality falls, severed from the causality of the multiverse, left to slip between the infinite veins of existences into oblivion. The last thing your consciousness recognizes is the immense pressure of time as you sink into the blackness.

But consciouness greets you once more, welcoming you to the darkness beyond time, the graveyard of realities. This a land devoid of light, yet your eyes still see. This a land devoid of time, yet your heart still beats. Only the patchwork ruins of broken universes lay here. frozen in time and forgotten by physics. Only misbegotten souls forsaken by fate and sinners of paradox wander this darkness with you.

Time is all you have, spend it wisely.

There are mists motionless in the air and the splashes remain perfectly still. There are birds stopped in flight and even a fish as it lept out of the water. With your free hand, you reach out touch the water droplet you were focusing on a moment ago, noticing that it too is solid. You focus your will once again and command it to move, and this time, it follows it, falling to still water below and splashing before freezing once again. This time the draining feeling is almost insignifigant compared to the fish.

As you walk you experiment a little, stomping on the surface of the water to see what happens (it reacts like it was mud) and jumping on it (to which it justs buckles a little).

I seriously think we need to try breaking space itself down into time, space probably cannot exist without time so there must still be some small amount of it keeping things there.

Or at very least break the matter down into energy and convert the energy into time.
    >> Anonymous 11/08/09(Sun)03:49 No.6615508
ok guys, remember back with the fish, when we grabbed it we felt a slight warmth to it but it was a physical warmth

I postulate that that is the amount of time stored in before we did anything

So if we touch things that have time in them, they should feel warm

You ponder what could have happened to the man to have made him like this, but you put the thoughts out of your head for the time being and decide that should probably seperate the girl from him. If he drained your time, who's to say he wasn't siphoning away the time stored in the girl. If only you knew more you'd have a better idea of what to do.

Luckily for you, he wasn't holding onto her hand that tightly so you figure all you need to do is pull her arm free and you'll be good to go. Though when it comes to the actuall doing it, you notice its a hell of a lot harder and you seriously work at it. After a few minutes of trying to get her elbow to bend you finally get it to give and you stumble foward and fall.

When you get up you notice that you have indeed seperated the two, though not quite the way you intended. The mans' hand appears to have snapped clean off, and its now rapidly decaying into a fine sand.

The shadow things immediately scatter and hide behind the mans leg, though they quickly return and cautiously circle the stick bug. You watch this for several minutes before the one of the shadows quickly darts in and pounces on the stick bug, the other follow suit quickly after forming a tumbling blob of inky blackness on the ground.

You take a few moments to arrange the girl on your back for easy transport while the shadow things are busy dealing with the stick bug, the ethereal heat of her feels feeling quite pleasant as long as you aren't directly touching her.

With that done you set off back up stream to where you left the fish, taking you somewhat longer now having to haul the girl and all. Upon arrival you see the fish still flopping about and it provokes a wry smile on your face.

In fact you find that falling leaves in mid flight prove especially annoying if you aren't paying attention for them when you run into them, but you quickly learn to watch for them now that light doesn't factor into visbility.

What you think to be a few dozen minutes goes by of searching before you spot some thin wiry looking vines, which quickly prove to be exactly what you were looking for. A short walk back to the sound of a flopping fish and you've got the girls arms tied securely behind her back.

I agree, just tell her you couldn't save him. We don't know more, unless we want to tell her we broke off his hand saving her.

You put on a look of sympathy tinted with concern, "he's back by the boat, he's fighting off a creature of darkness. If you knew anything about it I might be able to help!"

The girl just shakes her head no and sobs, completely overwhelmed by the situation. "I- I want to see him!"

We cannot return unless we know it's save. Tell her no, and that she needs to be strong for Jorun.

iirc, the little darkness things seemed to be scared of us when we approached Jorunn

I dont think we have anything to be afraid of

Forgive us, we tried to save him... But he implored us to leave him, he made us promise to keep you safe, to protect you... I am a man of honor, and I will keep you... Living... I am also a man of science, I'd like to know where the largest concentrations of time exist in this world... I want to study it, harness it's powers. By doing so, I can protect the both of us. With your help, I can bring order to this chaos. Trust in me... It's what he wanted for you.

You make very sure to look as serious as possible here, even letting your glasses slide down you nose a little. "It's very dangerous back there. Are you sure you want to go back? Jorunn tried very hard to make sure you could get away."

The girl nods emphatically as she stands up, failing to notice what she's standing on. "I don't want to leave him!"

If this is like Sluggy, having lots of people with time around us is to our benefit. Enough people created a stable "time line".

I feel this story is inspired by Sluggy, but I think that we don't have to worry about running out of time unless we decide to run around resurrecting everything we see
    >> Anonymous 11/08/09(Sun)06:18 No.6617463

Probably true. At least, we're probably not in danger of running out of time any time soon.

The main reason i hoped it was sluggy inspired was when we walked onto the water.

Remember that part? Though to be fair, it wouldn't have led to the awesome we just saw.

But it almost would have been more awesome.
