    30 KB THIS IS YOU~ Anonymous 11/08/09(Sun)21:40 No.6625870
    DARKNESS BEYOND TIME

You did it, you broke reality, and with your sin of paradox, you brought everything crashing down around you. Your world no longer had the right to exist, you had undone that, destroyed that privilege you weren't even aware of with your carelessness. Its essence and lifeblood, the mercurial sands of time, seeped from the cracks you wrought into it, escaping this dying place, evaporating into dimensions beyond your ken.

As suddenly as this forbidden revelation comes, you feel everything give way as your reality falls, severed from the causality of the multiverse, left to slip between the infinite veins of existences into oblivion. The last thing your consciousness recognizes is the immense pressure of time as you sink into the blackness.

But consciouness greets you once more, welcoming you to the darkness beyond time, the graveyard of realities. This a land devoid of light, yet your eyes still see. This a land devoid of time, yet your heart still beats. Only the patchwork ruins of broken universes lay here. frozen in time and forgotten by physics. Only misbegotten souls forsaken by fate and sinners of paradox wander this darkness with you.

Time is all you have, spend it wisely.
    >> RECAPPIN~ Anonymous 11/08/09(Sun)21:40 No.6625873
Thus far you have made the following discoveries from last time
    >You reanimate things by giving them your time
    >You cannot take back time you have given
    >You must touch that which you wish to reanimate
    >Nonphysical warmth is associated with the amount of frozen-time locked within something
    >Timless liquids behave almost like solids.
    >You can dig through, and even consume timeless water.
    >Thrown timeless things will glide to a halt while reanimated things will behave as they should

    Areas you have discovered
    >Forested river area with waterfall
Here you have a reanimated fish.
    >Sunken City
Here you discovered Jorunn and the little girl, as well as the shadow things.

    Your latest actions,
    >You found a man and little girl holding hands frozen in time in the flood city. You seperated them
and destroyed the man's hand in the process, causing it to decay into a fine silvery sand. Mysterious shadow things went to devour it and you fled back to the waterfall with the little girl where you reanimated her, finding that it took little of your "time" to do so. The girl is very confused and distraught.

    Last Entry

You make very sure to look as serious as possible here, even letting your glasses slide down you nose a little. "It's very dangerous back there. Are you sure you want to go back? Jorunn tried very hard to make sure you could get away."

The girl nods emphatically as she stands up, failing to notice what she's standing on. "I don't want to leave him!"

You begin to long walk back to flooded city, the girl following behind as you walk along the waters surface, occasionally sniffling and mumbling Jorunn's name. You note that she never once bothers to ask about how she's walking on water or why everything is silent and still during the journey.

Finally you reach the transition to the flooded city and the girl begins to look bewildered. She begins to cry again, "I'm in a nightmare! A nightmare!" Before you can say anything she notices the figure, Jorunn, standing motionless at the dock off in the distance and darts off screaming out his name.

You on the other hand notice something is different this time, there is a far larger shadow thing this time, a wispy blob of inky purple and black with gaseous tendrils wrapped around the hand you had broken. This new thing of darkness is about the size of a dog.

You motion for the girl to hush and lower your sun glasses from your face, "Child, Jorunn is... No longer himself. He... gave his life to that thing so that you might live. I know you want to see him, but if we don't leave, that shadow may do to us what it did to Jorunn, and then his sacrifice would be in vain. Do you want to sully his memory like that?" No sooner do you finish speaking than you hear a loud crash and the sound of something shattering on the ground.

The girl's had calmed down from you talking, but the crash startled her and she quickly bolts out of your grasp while your attention is on the noise. You quickly move to follow after her out of the doorway you were hiding in.

Jorunn is no longer standing there, rather he's now fallen to the ground and shattered into several distinct chunks, the silvery white sand you had seen before spilled across the wooden planks and flowing down to the surface of the water. You see the dog sized shadow thing holding a withered leg aloft with its inky tendrils, almost in triumph while the several dozen of the tiny shadow things glide around the shattered body feasting on it. The girl screams in horror as she runs toward her fallen friend.

You curse yourself for letting her slip out of your grasp, but grit your teeth and sprint after her. As you catch up to her you reach and arm down to grab hold of her to hoist her up and you hold her tightly over your shoulder. Taking your momentum into account, you bound over the boat in front of you and leap up onto the flagstone flooring ahead, being sure to keep a good distance from the shadow things, which as you pass by recoil from your presence. You take no time to dart forward into the arched passage way ahead of you, leaving the shattered body of Jorunn behind you for the shadow things.

You run for what seems like minutes into the winding arched corridors, sometimes emerging through balconies, overlooks, and flooded junctions with docks much like the ones you came from before you come to an a junction that has an odd red light pouring out of one of the doorways.

You notice a few lone wispy shadow things aimlessly drifting across the expanse.

She nods along, not entirely sure she understands but then again, you can't honestly say you do either. After a few minutes have passed and she seems to have calmned down a bit, you ask her if she remembers anything prior to waking up, anything important. Alete shakes her head no and everything seems to be nothing out of the ordinary for her prior to you reanimating her. You reach your hand down to Alete, who ponders for a moment for tentatively reaching out and grabbing it, letting you pull her up. "I'm going to out there and investigate those blue stones. Do you want to come with me or stay in here?"

Alete thinks for a moment before softly replying, "I'll go with you... I can't see the shadows. You can see them so I don't want to be alone."

You nod and walk off with the small girl trailing close behind you. You carefuly walk down one of the craters to the bluish orb in the center, marveling at the beauty of the teal fire wreathing its surface. When you reach the bottom you notice a tiny shadow thing quickly scamper away out of the crater.

So are they our antitheses, feeding off of time while we supply it? Are they reality trying to fix itself, by consuming what destroyed it? After fiddling with the rock for a bit and a few failed attempts to pick it up, you decide that you should probably get out of the open in case one of the larger shadows decides to come your way. "Alete, we're going to go look in the buildings." Alete nods and holds the small piece of fire she tore off firmly as she follows after you.

You approach a the wreckage of a large building that from your best guess, was some sort of shopping center before what ever disaster befell this place. Not taking any more time than you have to, you step shove aside the charred and twisted door and enter the building.

Alete tugs on your coat, "What is this place?"

"It was a... shopping center I think." You point to the numerous ruined facades of what used to be store fronts, though off in the distance you see one that doesn't appear to be ruined.

Ask him how we can reach him if we need him. Also ask him what benefit there is to knowing my own name, besides curiosity; and then ask him if there are any names I should watch out for.

You wave to Rachev as he heads off, "Thank you very much for your information, you've been very helpful. If I ever happen to be around I'll drop by and see if you're around."

"Not a problem! Someone did it for me so I oughta return a favor!" he shouts back.

"So... a familiar place," You whisper as you turn and head back to eerily familiar mall with Alete tagging along.

"What are we doing?" she asks.

You smile, "Figuring out my name, I hope." Alete looks confused but it wouldn't have been the first time.

When you get back to the mall you begin wandering around, aimlessly at first, but shreds of memories begin to form in your mind as you walk. You decide to avoid entering most of the stores and just walk, hoping something sparks your memory.

Alete stops you several times to ask why no one is moving but you remind her the nature of the place quite a few times. Eventually, you come to the food court and a piercing pain shoots through head for a brief second. You fall to your knees and when you recover you find yourself looking at yourself, sitting at a small table sipping a cup of coffee and calmly reading a news paper.

    Hmmm...

I think I get the shades. They're like... 3.5 zombies. They're powered by dead time. As in, things that have no time. But they cannot digest dead time, unless it's like sand. The small ones can't break much of anything, that's why there's so many, but the bigger ones are only made if the smaller ones 'eat' dead time.

On the flip side, they are probably harmed by 'living time', e.i. the time you weild.

    I think.

You stand up and calmly take a seat across from yourself, folding your arms infront of you. "Hello."

Your otherself meticulously folds the paper and puts it down and glares at you. "Look what you did, I go through all the effort to get that job at Gray Ridge, and then the moment you sweet talk your way into the good doctors panties and her time machine, the first thing you do is come back here and cause this. We had restraint at one time! We knew when to listen to people! I know she wasn't the kind of person to not tell you the countless million things that could go wrong when playing with a time machine! When did money become so important that you were willing to risk damning the universe?"

It looks like it's semi-classless with three archetypes, so far.

    Forsaken, Sinners and Innocents.

Forsaken can deal with fissures, whatever those things are.

Sinners can deal with the shades.

What do Innocents deal with, though? It seems like they have no reason to be here.

You'd think that the world would try to throw some balance at them for that. Maybe not be able to interact with the world, but be able to defend themselves...

That's just it, they're not supposed to be there. Normally they would still be standing motionless, oblivious to what has happened, dead and unconscious, victims of paradox. The forgotten and sinners are the ones who should be here, and they have coping mechanisms. Conscious innocents are aliens.
