    33 KB QUEST TIME Dreamscape !!SbnXxXER/Ds 11/26/09(Thu)02:14 No.6872954
It was a shitty day at work. The boss made you stay overtime, and at most you're going to get 6 hours of sleep before your doctor's appointment in the morning. At least the neighbor's dog isn't barking. You fall asleep...

"Hello Paul. You have the look of a man who accepts what he sees because he is expecting to wake up. Ironically, that expectation is no longer certain. I am a being enlightened several magnitudes more than your species. How you perceive me now is but the easiest way for your mind to understand who I am. I am here seeking entertainment. And to that end I am locking you into your own mind. You will remain living in your dream until you find a way out, or until you die. For your sake, I do not recommend the latter. I will be watching your efforts."

"Prior to entering the dreamscape proper, I am presenting you a double boon. The first is allowing you to ask me three questions. For the second... I will bestow upon you one "superpower" of your choosing, with a caveat: you do not control when this ability will be active. Instead, it will activate or deactivate at random times, for random intervals. I feel that this will be most amusing, yes?"

"Once we are done here, you must step through that door. And then the fun shall begin."

The best deal with the devil is actually fairly easy. Simply demand something he has no power to give then when you do not receive it take him to court for illegal possession of your soul and/or refusal to uphold a binding contract. Then take him for everything he owns.

Wording is a bit off, there.
First is shows us the danger, then the best way to get away from it/use it to our advantage. It should ignore unstoppable situations.
Danger is defined as something that puts us at risk of physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, or social harm.
Inevitable situations are events that will take place regardless of any intervention that it is possible for us to take.

Several empty IVs are rigged up so that they flow into each other, with one on the end stuck into her arm. You can see the edges of some tattoos covered by the blanket.

Your clothing, needles, and small hacksaw are near at hand.

I dress and carefully attached some cloth to the needleheads to make sure no accidental poking takes place. With hacksaw in hand I walk up to her and see if she is concious, if she is I ungag her and question her. If she is unconcious it's time for some date rape

Fuck you, it's a dream! If anything she was created by Morpheous, so in a way I'd be RAPING HIS SUBCONCIOUS! NOW WHO IS LAUGHING?

The needles are secured, and you are reclothed, shoes keeping your feet safe from broken glass.

The girl seems to be just barely conscious, but she's pretty out of it. Removing the gag shifts the blanket, and you see that on her back is tattooed... a list? It looks like it would be a shopping list, but you can't read it. The letters are there, but every time you try to read it, it just appears to be gibberish.

You contemplate taking advantage of her while she's too weak to resist. She's fairly attractive, with shoulder length wavy brown hair.

It'd show that creepy jerk... right? But, while you don't recognize this place, something about it feels familiar. You're pretty sure in your own head.

Well I can't exactly rape myself but now that I think about it, (And throw away the used tissues) I see the knowledge in not exploring my environment with my penis.

I check to see if my red paint brush is still in my pocket, if it's not I cut my finger and check to see if I can write down whats on her back on some cloth. It might be important later. Afterwards I inspect her more for information, afterwards I redress her and start serious efforts to wake her.
    >> Anonymous 11/26/09(Thu)05:18 No.6874900
Seems she's been kept in that position for a while, with IVs that emptied who-knows-when. There's still about a quarter of a single one between the connected bags that didn't flow down. She's likely got a lot of muscle soreness, dehydration, and who knows what else. You're not a doctor, and there don't seem to have been any here for a while.

You nick your finger and copy down as close as you can a line of what's written. Still unreadable. Weird.

You untie the bindings and move her to the hospital bed you fell onto. She wakes up at one point during this and looks at you with panic before her head lolls again. Other than the blanket or your own, you'll have to find clothing for her.

Looking out the window, you're on the fourth floor. Climbing down will be a stretch for just you, and screwing up is going to suck. Down below is a parking lot, with a single T-Bird in the same sepia as the rest of the environment.

If you want to untie the girl, she's not too big (heck, not even that curvy) to be carried. Otherwise, you should be able to wheel the bed.

Either way, you decide to check which room to hide in before moving her. You push on the hallway door, and... it's stuck. Not even wiggling. Crap.

You're not certain, but several solid impacts might break down or unjam the door. The hinges, unfortunately, are on the other side. Hacksawing will probably take too long.

    "More."

Reaching the balcony T, you see another two coming from the right, about 100 feet away.

Ground is tile floor, and whatever they used underneath (a layer of cement, most likely). It's a two story drop.

The third hallway has several patient rooms and ends in a large pane window.

The Thunderbird is almost directly underneath the original room's window.

I'll let everyone choose since I have been responsible for most of the actions so far.

My panic ebbs away all at once and with grim determination I know what I have to do. I grab the woman and tell her "It's time to fly." I throw over the mattress, climb up on the railing with her and aim as best I can while keeping my limbs loose and ready to roll, I try to keep her close so she falls right, but my prioritys are on the man who has an existance to return to.

I know we both won't make the fall, so I sprint as best I can down the hallway holding her arm tightly while I rush across the hall to see whats on the other side of the window.

I kinda like the first choice. Also since we pushed our makeshift ram over, hopefully that'll slow the first THING considerably.

Face it, we have to get out of this building one way or another, and that means DOWN. The quicker way seems to be off that balcony.. But I do sorta like this companion we have. Wont be too pleased if she dies, but she could be used as a way to slow the enemy..
    Hmm..

I suppose our best action is to try and jump down the two flights, OR, flee to the left.

Just to be different I'm going to suggest going to the left, away from the two new beings. If it's not too slow, take the mattress.

Has it correct, since some people seem to be confused. The window to the left is a large, full floor one to the outside. Four stories drop to the outside of the hospital. Balcony is a 2-2 1/3 story drop to the second floor plaza.

There are also several patient rooms along the left hallway, but that is the riskiest option yet.

You're not sure if there's a window there. Anyhow, this seems to be the consensus:
    >>My panic ebbs away all at once and with grim determination I know what I have to do. I grab the woman and tell her "It's time to fly." I throw over the mattress, climb up on the railing with her and aim as best I can while keeping my limbs loose and ready to roll, I try to keep her close so she falls right, but my priorities are on the man who has an existence to return to.

You toss over the mattress onto the second story lobby floor and watch it land neatly underneath you.

"It's time to fly," you quip, as you grab the girl by the arm and hop up onto the balcony. She's confused for a second, but as soon as she grasps what your intent is she starts struggling to get away. "Nononono not that, anything but that, not heights please no!"

Sod that, you don't have time for this. You haul her up and leap, pulling her behind you as she lets out a terrified scream. You plummet toward the mattress, trying to pull her close so that she won't miss.

Unfortunately, the plan worked better in your head. All her scared struggling causes some of your body to miss the mattress. Your left foot slams into the tile hard, and immediately you feel the pain of something down there getting all jacked up.

The girl lands full onto the mattress though. Way to go, hero.

Try to overcome the pain, and look around. What are my surroundings? Any immediate danger or issues apart from the potentially broken leg?

Any other way down, preferably without repeating the previous exercise? That T-Bird seems like a likely bet for escape. The hospital just seems to be super death at this stage.

Hey do you mind if we call it quits here? I really need to get some sleep before thanksgiving. If you do decide to end it now could you give me a date for the second chapter?

Otherwise I quickly rip off some of her clothing (Fuck her for struggling) and try to keep my possibly sprained ankle under as much compression as possible while I ask her to check out the edge of the plaza where the thunderbird is parked.

Hazards would include two things gliding up and over the balcony, staring down at you.

Exits... ouch. One second, get past the pain first.

    >>6876769
I figure getting to the T-bird (assuming you don't die; like Firstquest/Deathquest I'm totally fine with character death) will be a good wrap up point, since that's where people seem to be wanting to get to.

Next session will probably be Friday evening, unless people aren't doing anything tonight I could run after I get back from a friend's party.

And all she has is the hospital gown, but before you can tear any off she's beaten you to it. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry! You saved my life and I got you hurt for it! Here, are you any good at binding that? I've only seen it done."
    >> Anonymous 11/26/09(Thu)09:01 No.6876831
    >>6876809

Try not to panic at the things coming over the balcony.

...Check out the female binding my foot with her only clothing. Check how bad it is, and if possible, check mobility. Need to get moving, soon as possible - if those things can 'fly', then we are going to be in a world of shit.

Adrenalin should be kicking in, if it hasn't already, so bailing out shouldn't be a problem.

How likely is a jump off the edge looking?

Assuming pain has passed, what's around now?

    >>6876809
I apologize for rushing her like that, and ask her name while helping her apply the bandage. Then I ask her if she can support some of my weight, if so I ask her to help me carry the mattress over the side of the Plaza to initiate the second jump (1 at a time this time so it's less risky). I also ask her to tell me her story of how she got in the closet, and what her runes mean.
    >> Dreamscape !!SbnXxXER/Ds 11/26/09(Thu)09:08 No.6876875
Adrenaline and euphoria take the edge off the pain.

There's a fountain in the center of the plaza that isn't running. And unfortunately, there's nowhere to jump off of--the plaza opens up into an array of hallways and doors. You have a hunch at what they say... but you can't be sure. Likely candidates include Cafeteria, Stairwell, Front Desk, Recreation Room, and... well, no idea on that last one.

The foot... well, you can tough it out for a while. It's not going to be fun, and running a marathon or sprinting is right out. The two of you do your best to make a decent bind even as your pursuers get closer. In the end you just stand up and ask her to help you walk as best she can. Might have to be a mutual support thing, she's not doing too well herself. She nods and leans close against you, holding onto you tightly.

No time for much talking, you've got painful death less than a minute away and closing. You scoot as quickly as you can toward the stairwell.

You didn't keep the mirror shard since it was crap as a weapon, and... the girl never gave you back the hacksaw in the confusion of rushing out of the room. You pry the paint roller out of your right hand and throw it, hoping at least for a second's distraction. The girl is already dropping as you try and get underneath.

You take the worst of her fall, and are rewarded with a grateful kiss on the cheek. However, whatever was wrong with your left leg just spiked into something worse. Walking on this is going to not be feasible for much longer, short of taking PCP or something.

I ask the woman to carefully scout out the detour while keeping a constant line of verbal communication going. I try to get a few good chops on the boarded up door before the thing gets too close, just enough to check on the other side/see how thick this thing really is. If it gets withen 12 feet I immediatly stop and start hobbling for the woman.

It depends on how fast we can get a piece out. Bearing in mind we have ~10 seconds before we're attacked, if it takes too long to remove a piece of the boards, it may attempt to reach out and grab us before we can increase the distance.

You stomp on the remaining coil impeding the girl and haul her to her feet. The massive adrenaline surge is keeping you going for a bit longer. You pull her behind you through the door she'd opened earlier, and you both dash into the parking lot. The abominations begin to follow you out, but the Thunderbird isn't far. Maybe it's a dreamscape thing, maybe it's one of those classic car things, or maybe it's just luck--the keys are in the ignition, the tank is full of gas. Hell, it's even waxed. And you may be battered, but at least you've got your right foot intact. You gun the engine and floor it, putting as much distance between yourself and the hospital as possible. Time for a nice chat with the girl shortly, once you find a nice lonely highway to cruise.

This situation might suck, but as you reflect on it, one thought keeps popping into your head: You done good, hero.
