    Previous thread: >>7004361

These are the four first individuals you encountered:
The one who disbelieved your telepathy is a dark skinned male. Fairly short, fairly chubby. Yet again, comes from a location you do not give a shit about. Housh
The one who was curious about you is female. Also small. Fair skinned. Fair haired. Location you don't care about. Alexia.
Mikhail is tall, masculine, fair hair, fair skin. Relationship with Alexia. Same location as Alexia, doesn't really matter.
The final one who was quite scared of you is both light and dark skinned. Kinda like your original skin, but yellowy. Tian.

Based on your other opinions, you try to make them consider harming you or even trying to take a sample of you a crime - since you are, of course, such a wonderful - albeit terrifying - creature. You isolate the leader, individual called Filipp. Serious chap - but you try to enter his mind.

It's difficult. If you try to control his mind, your influence over the others will be drastically reduced. Do so anyway?

sounds like he would be a hard nut to crack. We most likely have the experience on our side when it comes to mind games, but still. Can we get any kind of readings off him at all? We know he's in charge here. How does he feel about us, currently?
    >> MadSlug 12/04/09(Fri)21:38 No.7005865
I agree with Bill Murray's plan in the previous thread:
"Put the others into a serious dopamine binge, then enter Filipp's mind."

Once in we will be his favoured pet, he will demand all results to come to him. EVERYTHING will run through him. No one must make any contact with us.
We will probe the extent of his obsession over us before we decide if he should burn the place down or what.

Going with advice from the previous thread as well as the common vote, you do it.

However, before you do it, you push yourself to your limits, unleashing a sudden ecstatic burst in the humans, dopamines rushing through them, leaving them quite flustered, confused and excited.

Then, you smash your way into the mind of Filipp. His mind is your puppet - for the time being. You can convince the human to do everything except things that endanger itself or go against everything they philosophically stand for.

Before, he wanted to get it over with and get you cut open immediately. Now? He's slightly more curious. Wants to discover how you act. Behaviour and so on. He's trying to come up with any reason to keep you alive.

Cool, we can absorb knowledge from humans with great ease. A little tiring, but still, easy enough.

Good, he has cut off communications with the outside world. We need to ensure these are enforced. See if we can't uncover what objects around the camp are used for the communication, and send one of our runner spawn to chew through some wires/mangle some panels, and ensure that they can't communicate, even if they wanted to.

I propose we now enter into a slow period of mental assimilation of the humans. While they believe they are studying us we in turn study and manipulate them... limiting what knowledge they can gain to us to that which we wish them to (including false conclusions) and all the while making them more loyal to US.

We need to test how strong we can make these feelings and wether we can make them last. I believe the plan of making one humans zealous love for us reinforce anothers may be useful if it is possible.

    So. Time skip:
    - Make the technicians disable stuff.
    - Slip in a few thoughts about a new being, a new god - concepts about a 'Slul-Huggoth' and you being evidence of such a being.
    - Enforce your will upon the humans - examine their memories and burn theirs on to yours.

You're able to keep in contact with Fury over a long distance - who still has a captive Omniarch.

Time passes. This is actually surprisingly luxurious. The humans have got enough foodstuffs to last them approximately a month - within fifteen days, however, they'll get resupplied. So, you get fed. Your spawn take watch from the distance and you keep up your communication with Fury, keeping him informed of the situation.

Humans... Humans are surprisingly easy to manipulate. Easier than a bear, anyway. By spreading your focus over them, you've slowly managed to change their view of you from curious to fascinated to almost damn worshipping. They're often confused by their illogical lines for thought - influenced by you - but you make them forget this.

Eventually, the fourth day comes. Fury notifies you that the latest batch of eggs has hatched. In three days time, the Fury-Omniarch children will hatch and the Namespawn will hatch as well. Omniarch has also been executed - Fury seems quite smug about this. As for the flotsam that the Omniarch was gathering - he can't quite tell what it is. It seems to be a burrow that he was going to try and reinforce and seal up, for some reason another. The burrow is empty.

It's difficult to describe the atmosphere in the tents. It's confusingly tranquil. You're still putting quite a lot of effort into making sure that the humans don't conduct so much research, leaving the poor creatures with very little to do. You can feel the mental instability growing in your latest pet humans.

Remain in their camp for a few may days. Request that they bring you selections of animals to try. This will give us more DNA to sample when we gestate.

When it is getting close to the resupply arriving, give them a serious mental impression to keep us a secret, and tell them that we will go and hide so that the resupply team doesn't steal their discovery.

We use this opportunity to return to our nest and gestate.

So, any combination of the following:

    Make the humans busy by:
    - Making the conduct faux experiments
    - Teaching them to pray Slul-Huggoth and inserting images and thoughts of this creature and yourself into their minds.
    - Clearing up and disposing of the carcasses

    And dealing with the suppliers:
    - Prepare to capture and imprison them.
    - Prepare to subject them to the same experience
    - Prepare to inform them of the riot that took place (the humans will have to pull out with the expedition considered a failure)

These are humans have skill sets we lack. Like advanced technology, knowledge, the scientific method. The Omniarch made gains when it was able to steal the mind of a scientist, why not allow the humans to conduct some research? Nothing that would harm us or our children, but gaining greater understanding over our race could only be a good thing. As long as said information does not leave here of course.

Then if they want to go ahead and move here to rejoin us, they're welcome.

Once we leave them, that is before the resupply team arrives, we leave the camp, and instead of returning to our brood where we may be followed, we go out into the woods, dig ourselves a little burrow, and gestate in peace.

You manage to convince a handful of the scientists to reluctantly give up some precious specie samples that they have, of various different creatures. Mostly just animals that they thought could be identified with what they heard was here. And since there were so many shapes and sizes, it's quite varied, really. Snakes, octopi, bats, spiders. Just small specimens though, kept very, very well preserved, for analyzing and comparison.

The preservatives only add to the delicious flavour.

So, you folks wanted to occupy the time of the scientists by making them perform various faux experiments and pray to Slul-Huggoth, right?

Anything else you want to subject them to over the next few days or is that it?

Also, did you want to communicate directly with the leader, Filipp?

You work on crafting this memetic virus - a psychic cell, of sorts, that you will place withins the minds of others.

    The virus encourages:
    - Belief in Slul-Huggoth.
    - The preaching of Slul-Huggoth.

    The virus spreads when:
    - A nearby sapient acknowledges the name 'Slul-Huggoth'.

    Is this correct?

If so, this psychic memetic virus will be a powerful weapon. You will be creating a seperate entity and you will be implanting it into a single individual, from which it will spread to other individuals. It will require you to permanantly sacrifice a small portion of a resource that we shall call 'potential' - you're creating and lovingly crafting a completely seperate entity here. It shall require blood, sweat and tears.

By creating this, you create a powerful weapon but you also limit your maximum potential.

the meme virus could potentially reveal us in the long run. After all, professional scientists go to reasearch some new creature, claim it was all a riot or a hoax or something, and the second they come back, suddenly everyone is talking about this Slul-Huggoth thing? Could seem suspicious if someone paranoid enough looked at it. They could potentially link it all together.

it looks like we cannot do these things now. Who can say what our ultimate unmeasured highest order potential is? Is we cut ourselves one step short of godhood. Then one day god will slay us, If we cut our selves to the limits of angels, then the divine servants will bring our downfall and that much sooner, for they are many,

Equal power? This meme gives us no power. It's entirely unnecessary. Unless you think we can sit back and it'll win the game for us? I don't think it'll play out like that, myself.

The best way to spread influence is to do it ourselves. Which will be a damn sight easier if we don't give away half our abilities on a damn thought-fairy.

However I am still against using the meme. Having a massive support structure that is just barely under our control just seems like a bad idea, especially when it costs some inherent property of ourselves to use.

For all we know potential is what causes our advanced sentients. We might be best to wait until our brood is back to a good strength and then get an underling to create the meme for us, sacrificing the potential of someone who is NOT the Patriarch.

Flora, and not fauna? Hmm, if this child can eat plants and gain genetic material he could be of great use to us. Imagine, we could digest him and our evolutionary possibilities skyrocket, or he could be one of our generals. If we use him and properly breed him we could create a subspecies of plant slugs which could hide in the forests and ambush trespassers.

Some of the locals thought they'd play a jolly prank on the city types and strewed bits of carcass around the place. Clearly Swimmer has become an advanced sentient. It seems likely she questioned orders because they were from Fury, her goddamned SON, instead of us, her father.

Go and see Swimmer FIRST. Then we can enlist her aid to indoctrinate the new sentients, giving us 1.5x the preaching power as if we just went straight there.

The Omniarch was one of our descendeds, the spawn of the earliest to rebel against us (I forget his name, that's the problem with not having names like 'Slug-Bob' and 'Slug-Jim'). Pretty clear origin story.

Also, he's now our prisoner (or dead?). What's your problem?

Sorry for this bit of railroading, but it's time to draw this to a close tonight.

Fury informs you that everyone's hatched - but the situation's getting chaotic. You're needed in order to keep everything in line - he's not too used to the role of leadership to handle this sort of thing.

Leaving behind the humans for the time being to handle the situation, you travel towards the location of the hive, ensuring you're not followed. Your spawn come with you. A handful of Batspawn stay behind to spectate.

What do you find when you arrive at the hive?

    FIND OUT NEXT TIME, FOLKS!

    >> Anonymous 12/04/09(Fri)23:39 No.7007513
The advanced sentients are an asset to the hive, but we need to get there to imprint them with loyalty to the hive ASAP. Our mistake in the past has been not to take a properly parental role in our spawn's early development. It's what went wrong with Schmahkah, it's what went wrong with the Omniarch, it's what nearly went wrong when the False Messiah started turning the young against us.

We need to establish that we are the Patriarch, that we are the embodiment of Slul-Hugoth's will, that we are awesome and that we love our children who follow our example and act in the interest of the hive.

Also, I'd suggest imprinting a fierce revulsion against patricide. It is abominable for a child to turn upon its parent. This is Slul-Hugoth's word.

The problem is that we know how to read.
The virus isn't worth what it will cost us in potential, seeing as we don't know our limits yet.
The virus idea isn't too bad; we just don't need it yet.

Don't draw it to a close. Just put us into a position where we can start over simply, but with a slightly more advantageous position.
Force us to do something drastic.

I like the idea of consuming the entire brood save for a few choice Prime Spawns and then controlling a human to get us a steady and safe place to establish an enormous, permanent hive.
    >> Anonymous 12/04/09(Fri)23:53 No.7007689
    >>7007622
We won't know our full limits untill we reach them. For example we can not now gain other special abilities like telekinesis... we didn't learn that untill after we had passed the point. So in order to learn what it will cost us we'll have to never again doing anything that could limit our Gestation Potential...

For that matter choosing any growth over evo limits our potential as evo is tied to our natural abilities like our psychic abilities... so all the percentages we've put into evo have limited our potential.

If we use the virus as end-game then it will be less effective. Hence why it was designed ot be subtle. It would essentially create sleeper agents.

    >>7007635
If you want to know why the Omniarch looked like that, I enjoyed the concept art.

The in-character reason behind it is that the mind of the human that he consumed affected future gestations, subconsciously shifting the Omniarch to look more human with every gestation, even if no human was consumed.

Then there's the fact that the first Omniarch was consumed by his child, body and mind, after burning its mind on to its child's.

Then that second Omniarch was consumed by its child, body and mind, after burning its minds on to its child's.

The cycle would've continued. The latest Omniarch would keep on being consumed by its child. They would've become a cluster of thousands of advanced sentients, all with the same goal, all with the same aim, all with the same mind.

That was why the Omniarch was so insane. Even though it only had roughly the same number of gestations, it was the size it was through selective breeding. The largest bred with the largest, the most powerful bred with the most powerful and consumed the most powerful.

Not exactly Sleeper Agents. But the way it was designed meant it would infect slowly and mainly just people who had already heard about our existence so it would have a similar effect.

Because you would effectively feel yourself dying. Over. And over. And over. It's hella painful.

The original Omniarch was willing to sacrifice itself, over and over and over - for eternity, so that it could become the pinnacle of evolution.
