16 KB Comrade Crab Cephalopod Catastrophe! ErisMarie 12/08/09(Tue)04:18 No.7044272
My comrade and I are having trouble making three dimensional combat on a hex grid! We need a way to represent different levels of elevation to simulate combat between aquatic creatures!
    >> Anonymous 12/08/09(Tue)04:21 No.7044283
give up or use a computer.

people have been trying to do that for over 30 years.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/09(Tue)04:21 No.7044285
I take offence to the picture.

The crab should totally be winning.

    Stupid cuttlefish.

Maybe use little dice for each creature, indicating its height level? Awkward, but viable.

It's a working title, we are currently considering:

Comrade Crab of Crustacean Central Command and the Catastrophic Cephalapod-Catalysed Catastrophe

    What do you think?
    >> Anonymous 12/08/09(Tue)04:26 No.7044302

A crab's armor and grabbing claws should be able to take on a cuttlefish. All they're good for is running away anyway.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/09(Tue)04:27 No.7044304
You need something like a collapsible pointer attached to a base. Something where you can just raise or lower the model/counter as need be.

Man, I figured it would only be a matter of time before a cuttlefag showed up.

Listen, intelligence and limbs don't mean jack in a fight if you don't have any actual means of attack besides being the squishiest damn motherfucker three species over.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/09(Tue)04:30 No.7044328
What the fuck, just use a token with plusses and minuses. Spelljammer rules have a system for it.
God damn, it's not that hard.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/09(Tue)04:31 No.7044334

If using ranged attacks count distance adding distance from target to differance in elevation. (ex. Cuddlefish is a elevation 5 and is 5 hexs away from the crab at elevation 1[as low as it can be as the ground is lvl 0]. Distance is 5+4=9)

You stroke their undersides until they foam at the mouth, then flip them over and allow them the instinctive eight seconds of ecstatic jumping that results.
