    Later, we can hatch a DED KUNNIN plan to ambush the orcs in the north. Send some scouts at night to see if they can find a Defensible Orc Encampment.
    Then, sneak out at night, and storm it, killing all Orcs present.
    Hold it against immediate retaliation, but try to make it back to the main fort by nightfall.

    Doing this, the combination of Baiting and sniping, using Firewalls to split the orc advance, and Assassinating at nightfall, should weaken them enough to just punch on through.

    Yeah, we've mostly decided to use bait-and-shoot traps that utilise the fort's superior defensive cover, perhaps with some land mines or other traps to split the orc advance (and give local superiority). Go for it!

    Year 463 of our holy mother, January

    As the weeks moved on, the food supply in the abandoned settlement slowly began to dwindle, moral had fallen significantly. Not many people believed that they were going to make it out alive. Baron Kaufmann collaborated with Captain Petrovski on a plan.

    At 12pm on the tuesday, the gate way to the fort was opened up and several militiamen stood at the gate and began to fire into the wood line, with hunters on the walls also firing. slowly and surely, the orc force began to amass and charged towards the town. As the bait had worked, the militia and hunters fell back towards the keep as the orcs began to pour in. A earthshattered detonation went off as the gatehouse exploded, taking an ungodly number of orcs with it. But this did not frighten the savages, who processed to start climbing over the rubble in an attempt to dismember the garrison.

    The first firing line opened up as they came in, felling a few orcs before retreating into the fort itself, running past the second firing line who covered their retreat, before running to the fort as well, covered by the gunners in the fort itself. The two large doorways into the fort had been kept open, but a 4 foot high barricade put up to imped the orcs progression into the fort itself, defended by 30 marines. The rest of the garrison took up place in the firing slits located all over the fort, pouring down fire onto the advancing savages.

    We had ammo for 40 shots for each man. The battle would be long over before we went out of it.
    I guess we spend maybe half of that for detonation but still there's ammo a plenty.

    By this time it seemed that all of the new world was marching into the settlement, looking for blood. The roar of the orc force deafening the defenders who stood against these beasts. They smashed against the walls of the fort as if a wave against a beach, with men on the second floor worrying they'd even be able to climb in. For hours the battle raged with the savages being herded into the killzone, 1000s of rounds being fired, blood running like a river through the settlement, the stench of death and gunpowder stinging the nosterals.

    The captain stood at the gate along side his men, slashing his sabre at the savages, his voice bellowing out to rally his men 'HOLD FAST, HOLD FAST' he cried through the battle, slaying dozens of the beasts with his musket and bayonet. When it was snatched out of his hands by one of the beasts, he pulled his sabre and began to slash at the beasts

    But where was the baron? All around the fort there were many different men, tiefling, human, dwarf, even a goblin, but the Fessian baron was nowhere to be seen, nor his men. Had the Mercenary escaped with his countryman in the chaos of battle? Had they been caught in the open when the orcs charged into the settlement. For hours the battle lasted, the orcs trying to get into the bottle neck of the fort. Captain Petrovski stood fast with his men, this band of brothers, intending to hold his ground until the last man, willing to keep fighting til the last breath.

    At 4pm, the flow of the battle would be defined.

    The baron, who had hidden his men in some of the town houses, the orcs either too stupid or in too much of a blood rage to even check. At 4pm he charged foward with his countrymen on his white stallion in the afternoon sun. Their horses charging through the the puddles of blood that had formed into the green river of live orcs. The Baron let his voice belly like the beast of below the earth, almost matching that of the savages.

    The charge broke into the lines of orcs, the Fessians Letting their pistols break the backs of their enemies, disgarding them as if a piece of trash and changing to their polearm, slashing at them as if harvesting grain. No quarter was to be given, No prisoners were to be taken. The battle would be won here or lost. These men would either be heroes of serenity or would be left to be recorded in history books as the faceless men who gave up their lifes in a valiant last stand. But Alas, even the powerful beastmen couldn't stand up to this, and began to flee.

    Petrovski Charged forward with what little standing men he had left, his sabre long since lost in the body of a fallen orc and relying on but just a hachet he had retrieved. His red skin drenched in the blood of the orcs, almost head to toe. If there was such a thing as a demon, Captain Petrovski in this very moment would have been it, his eyes lite up like fire, the hatred of his enemy burning strong as he cut them down left and right, pushing them out of the settlement with the Fessians.

    By battles end over 50 serenity troops had died, not a man that day could say he did not have a wound. Petrovski lost count at 40. The battle for dukes keep has gone down as the most glorious and valient defense of colonial forces in the entire new world, the names of the men being widely known

    -10 fessians

    Have bigass parade for the heroes. Give medals to everyone and shit. Write the names of the fallen in the memorial. Sen battle report to the Homeland and request more troops from the King. I believe this valiant victory will make us much more popular and we'll get more troops than regular, maybe even be permitted to train our own force. Also say that you believe there might be big gold deposit in the area but couldn't search for it.

    The Garrison of the settlement spent the night in the fort, not wanting to travel through the woods in the darkness. Petrovski, despite his greivious wounds stood watch his his men, not letting his eyes fail him once. Come Daylight, they set out immediately, loading up those dead and too wounded to walk onto the wagons and marching outwards back to serenity.

    They encountered occasional pockets of resistance, but had for the most part destroyed the entire army of the stathborn nation. By weeks end they were back in serenity.

    You know, some more exposition would be nice. Introduce new interesting characters, build up the ones we have. I gotta say that our marriage is kind of uninteresting, there have been virtually no interaction with Duchess before marriage. The sub-thread on characters was a nice touch but not enough.
