You use the monitor, Verity going to examine the men for injuries.

3/4 of the cameras displayed either darkness or static, but you found one finally that displayed something odd. Drifting slowly down the hall was a long ribbon like thing... almost like a glowing translucent streamer. There were hundreds of them shifting through colors in a dazzling pryzm. They seemed gaseous in nature, seeping into every little crack in the walls and floor they encountered.

one last hint anon. Its pretty far back... very far back (but not before you entered the engine rooms) and really really not obvious. and not necessarily an environmental aspect...

    Is Anna the Daemons?

She's been wearing a helmet since we met her...

I keep going over the engine room but I see nothing we didnt mention already... the glint in the hole (obviously that mirror again, trying to trap us), the console we missed, oh and the boxes we threw down the hole without opening them

But you said it wasnt environmental

And our sense of warp dread DID flare up after Verity and anna walked into the room...
    >> Anonymous 10/03/10(Sun)23:40 No.12319760
Weeeelll, noone seemed to mention the smashed up crates... perhaps that is related. The warpworm thingies were being transported, a crate or 15 got smashed, allowing them to escape and corrupt the engineers.

The crew looks at each other. The man with the toolbox scratches his head. You can get to the dumping shafts by following the conveyer belt but... seeing as theres no way to turn it off..."

The man with the nail gun cut him off. "The ventilation system is big enough for you girls. But not your power armor..."

The Overalls man seemed deep in thought. "Darel had a key to the office before he... well..." They looked at the barricaded door. "Not sure if he still has it though... and removing this plate could take a while..."

You request everyone take off their headgear. The men hesitate for a moment before the overalls man removes his dust mask and the other two remove their hardhats. The man with the welding mask tilted his face plate up again, letting you see his face.

Anna doesn't move. In fact she hasn't moved since you came into the room. One of the men approaches her slowly. "Sister err... Can you hear us?"

Anna didn't react, her glowing eyepieces staring straight ahead.

You join in with the others and through your combined efforts the helmet begins to give. You pull it off halfway and you hear a loud gasp from Anna, followed by a painful scream and a wet tearing sound. Finally the helmet pulls free, taking chunks of anna's face, and one of her ears, with it.The sister falls to the ground, holding her face, Verity kneeling down to tend to her.

Inside the helmet are the same wispy tendrils that you saw on the monitor. Wherever blood had touched them they had bloated, their pastel colors dirtying to a greasy black. It let out a screech, writhing inside the helmet, reaching out, searching for a host.

It did in fact seem to be coming out of the radios on either side of the helmet.

You address Verity. "Why have you been staring at me?"

    Ok.

Kneel, and lead a prayer. Everyone stop and pray.
Ask the GE for guidance, for forgiveness for our frailties and faults, for the purity to righteously conquer the abominations of the warp desecrating His craft.
Ask Him to watch over us, to catch us when we fall, to take from us our fears.
He is our Strength, our Light, our Lord Above All to whom we swear all that we are, and in who's name we strive to emulate in all that we do.

As we do so, as the prayer reaches it's peak, manifest a small show of power through the knife.
Raise it and bow our head.

The miners punch up a distress call and you all kneel to pray. You lead them in communion with the emperor speaking how you will smite heretics in his name. You lead them in song. You lead them in their worship.

As you do you focus to find your power, realizing its already manifesting of its own accord your hair a blaze of white, the warp absent from your senses. You take out your knife and beg for a blessing, the blade pulsing a dull violet in time with your beating heart. The metal itself seems to alter growing longer and more slim, the sapphires set into the hilt burning with the ferocity of your faith. You can feel the emperor's blessing upon you.

A loud crash startles you as the door to the engines is forced open and the canoness walks in with her celestians, flamers blazing with holy promethium.

"WITCHCRAFT HERESY AND MUTATIONS!" She shouted, the girl's flamers blazing to life, searing the tendrils back into the bowels of the ship."

You unlock the door and cautiously poke your head out. The canoness seems about to turn her bolt pistol in your direction when whe realizes its not another heretic.

She walks over to you quickly, looking unsure. The miners rush past you, falling at the canoness's feet.

"Praise the emperor! Zee alarm seestem vorks! Thank you for coming!" and proceeded to babble on about your heroics and everything they had seen, The canoness, faltered, looking inside the room at you, verity and anna, silencing the miners with a wave of her hand.

"Now is not the time. We are losing our engines due to this infestation We need you all out of here and on the bridge. How bad is this infestation?"

You couldn't hear what the Engineers told her, but the look of disgust on the elder sister's face was enough.

She yelled into her com. "I want as many available sisters down in the engine room as soon as possible! And bring flame units!"

She looked at you and your companions. "Come on."

She turned on a heel and stormed out quickly, a flood of sisters rushing into the engines, flamers at the ready.

Verity followed quickly and the Engineers retreated to get Anna.

"must choose the planet or its moon as our destination. The planet is densely populated, and they may have people who can help us, but I fear the chaos infestation has spread through this entire sector. Still it may be worth the risk."

"The moon is... A borderline deathworld. Everything there is carnivorous, but I've heard tell of the planet's abundant natural resources. We are guaranteed to get the material we need if we land there, though the risk of casualties is great."

Your ship hits atmosphere hard, the hull groaning under the strain of reentry. The floor and walls shook so hard they risked flying apart, the noise deafening you.

The hellish experience soon passes and you find yourself gliding through the upper atmosphere, heading down to the planet's surface. The serenity, as you know, cannot last the ship groaning once again as the bottom thrusters kick in, slowing your fall immensely before a jarring impact tests the resolve of every bone in your body.

You black out momentarily, your eyes opening to a room that looked like a bunch of kroot had stampeded through it. A bit of smoke was drifting lazily out of the air vents on the walls.

Beside you, Tessa and the Hospitaller seemed fine, as did Anna and all the others. Your head wasn't too happy with you though. You hear the Canoness bark several orders through the intercom, ending with a phrase in High Gothic. It took a moment for you to process it but it was basically something along the lines of finish checking the engine and get into battle formation.

You groan, unstrapping yourself. Though your witch sense was silent, you had a bad feeling about all of this...

You put down the boltgun for now. There are a hundred and fifty sisters at the very least, all armed to the teeth. A little intimidation would make the Canoness look good.

Tessa joins you on the other side of the Canoness. She is sporting a new eyepatch and her armor had been repaired to a degree. She was also given a gold trimmed cloak. and was sporting a wicked double edged ceremonial evicerator.

The canoness galatea held up her hand for silence, the sisters falling into formation. She turns on heel, the ramp slowly lowering and marching forward. You and Tessa fall in line behind her on either flank. The sisters march behind you.

The planet outside is bright. The locals were clustered nearby, gazing in awe at the sisters. Galatea halted, the entire army coming to a stop in sync with her. She began explaining the events that have happened up to this point, leaving out the need to know details.

The locals agree with enthusiasm, wanting to throw a festival in honor of such a wondrous visit.

(you, tessa, and all those other sisters who got killed grew up together, remember? You were all part of the same schola)

You speak to Tessa in a hushed voice as the man speaks. He isn't saying anything you haven't heard several hundred times before. You take her mind back to your childhood and all the games you used to play, reminding her about the drill trainings and exercises, about cramming for those unreasonably difficult tests, about staying up past curfew to talk to the emperor just a little longer...

The man preached for some time, inviting you to eat as he spoke, his gestures ranging from peaceful and serene as he spoke of Holy Terra to violent and bombastic as he spoke of the horrors of chaos. before he held up his hands for silence. It was almost eerie with how quiet it had become. He walked in front of the golden box, bowing deeply to the Canoness. "In honor of this event, I would like perform the Rite of Purification. To cleanse this planet in the name of the emperor and to send us into a new age of zelous praise!"

Canoness Galatea has always been like a mother to you. You know everything about her. Her likes and dislikes, her pet peeves and indulgences... And yet you have never seen such an expression cross her battle-worn features.

The Rite of Purification was something reserved for the most fouled planets. The planets that, by all means, should have been exterminatused. Planets where only perseverance through brute force and zealous faith have the planet's warp spawn inhabitants been driven away. It involved dressing a willing sacrifice whose hands have never been stained in blood, as the enemy. The belief was that all the foul wickedness that remained would rush to feast on the innocent soul as it died, carrying them away to the warp before being torn apart and lost.

Your stomach turned over as a little girl walked out, dressed in the garments of chaos, the canoness raising up one hand in warning as you began to rise.

    Schola Progenium
    From Lexicanum
    Jump to: navigation, search

The Schola Progenium are schools run by Missionaries of the Ecclesiarchy. These schools teach and train orphans of Imperial officials who have given their lives in the service of the Emperor. Orphans are educated by the Missionaries and receive a strong Imperial cult upbringing, and soon learn to regard the Emperor as their spiritual father. Graduates of the Schola are known as Progena, and because of the loyalty their training has instilled in them, graduates are sent for further training and service within another Imperial organization, often becoming Storm Troopers and Commissars in the Imperial Guard, Imperial assassins, and Inquisitors. Many girls join one of the Orders of the Adepta Sororitas.

Says nothing that they aren't allowed to have known their parents. You might as well lose them at age 7 than at age 1.
