    Ooh a new IA book.

    >It's marines vs marines.

    Ahh, nevermind then.
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)14:01 No.12408607
7 out of 8 previous books were about or include marines, so SM vs SM was supposed to appear sooner or later.
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)14:21 No.12408784
This book only contains some backstory, scenarios and rules for special characters. It's a cool book, but not much more.

The story for each IA book is designed to include all their latest model releases. Forge World are always releasing new conversion kits and add-ons for Marines.
Therefore Marines will always play a role in IA books.
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)14:38 No.12408938

Yeah. At least the others were 'Marines AND someone else.'

Though I have to say the inquisition one was rather poor. Almost nothing new whatsoever.

    >Inquisition one
Do you mean the one with the Elysian Drop Troops and the Tyranids?
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)14:43 No.12408971

No. Space Marines and Forces of the Inquisition.

It introduced...the land raider redeemer (For grey knights instead of just regualar marines) and the Chimera/Rhino hybrid the Repressor, which I think was the best thing in the book but still not really enough for either grey knights OR Sisters.
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)14:44 No.12408978
So, you suppose we should ignore it just 'cause it describe internal SM conflict? Xenos are interesting, but there are many people who like marines too.
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)14:46 No.12408989
Oh, that one. I'd completely forgotten that that the original IA books were just collections of vehicle rules.

Yeah, the Repressor is awesome. But everything else in that book was kind of sucky...
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)14:46 No.12408995

More along the lines of it's interesting to marine players but not anyone else. It's got a smaller group interested in it.

    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)14:53 No.12409059
That was my first thought, but with DEldar about to get a sparkly new codex I think some of the more neglected armies need the spot light more.

Plus, you know what the GW writing staff is like. They have the minds of 13yr old boys. They wont be able to resist making the book full of pages and pages of text detailing exactly how the DEldar rape the SIsters when they capture them.
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)14:58 No.12409106

The problem is though, what can you actually give to the Sisters?

A slightly different Tank with Flamethrowers?

    A Cathedral on Wheels?
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)15:10 No.12409217
A full army list of lovingly sculpted DKoK quality models?

    Forgeworld can't do that.
Only GW can actually put out a plastic kit.
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)15:13 No.12409258

Maybe a suit of Heavy Power Armour. 2+ but no inv, slow and purposeful and a heavy weapon. Just what you need for killing things as tough as the Necrons.

A flyer of some sort, either a troop transport or a strike fighter. The Sisters do have spaceships, just no warships.

Maybe Armour 11 all round only weapon is a vulcan-megabolter or just a few long-barrel multimeltas (Range 36). Fast enough to rival the Dark Eldar.

There are still plenty of things you could give the Sisters.
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)15:15 No.12409271

The Badab War is probably the most interesting background concerning marines in the entire 40k canon. What I know of this suggests I'll like it, because it explores what happens when Marines aren't prissy-perfect do-gooders. Huron says, "fuck you," to the Imperium and turns tyrants, bringing in several other chapters under his schism. He marshals armies of marines and rebel guard and fights against the loyalist chapters sent against him. The war draws to a stalemate, and the loyalists are gradually replaced by much more ruthless-but-loyal chapters who are probably much worse than the Astral Claws ever were. The Minotaurs kill 20% of the sector population as collateral damage in four months, and they're the -good- guys.
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)15:19 No.12409312

I saw it more as that Heavy Power Armour from 'Into the Storm' maybe melded with a powerlifter.

He offered his soul in exchange for the Gods saving what remained of his Chaper. The Gods accepted.

And now, when so many good words was said about Badab war, let's return to the topic: why there are still no scans of it?
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)15:28 No.12409393
Really? It was his own megalomania that drove him towards the schism, not necessarily Chaos. Even now they've made it more black-and-white it's not definitively said. And he's an awesome pirate general, commander of the single largest pirate fleet in the Eastern Imperium. But fair enough, different strokes.

I wouldn't have anything against Huron if the current CSM codex didn't devote more time to his space piratin' renegades than it does to most of the original traitor legions.
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)15:33 No.12409460
It doesn't matter if the events were orchestrated by Tzeentch or not. The fact that Huron didn't start out as LOLCHAOS is enough reason to make it interesting.
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)15:34 No.12409467
Fair point. But consider the Red Corsairs are more of an ever-present thorn in the Imperium's side than the traitor legions even if they aren't actually as much of a threat overall. And his numbers are huge now, because lots of renegade marines from other chapters join up with Huron's fleet. He even has a Space Wolf battle barge or something now, I think.
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)15:34 No.12409469

Pretty sure he was, I dunno, something along the line of the Emperor's Most Beloved Son.
So, ummm, what was your point about it not being just a small scale Horus Heresy...?
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)15:38 No.12409512
First of all, that guy isn't me. I was the one who said that. Second of all, Horus turned after he fell to Chaos. Huron fell to Chaos to save the remnants of his traitor chapter.

It would still, even now, be perfectly reasonable to have a non-Chaotic faction of the Red Corsairs who are just renegadin'.
    >> Anonymous 10/11/10(Mon)15:42 No.12409556
I'm interested in the rules they have for boarding scenarios. Considering that my homebrew Chapter are armoured privateers (i.e.: glorified pirates), its highly relative to my intrests.

Different paths, they're all Chaos in the end.
I'm sorry, but it has never, and will never, strike me as anything more than a Mini Horus heresy, which isn't as interesting as the full scale one.
We get from HH: The Entire Setting.
We get from Badab: Chaos Lord Pirateface with a Mutant Parrot, and an excuse for people to paint a red X over the original chapter iconography and say "I chaos nao".
