    Darkness stretches above you... fields, going into the distance... you are alone... something is wrong. Are you dreaming? The wind blows, biting at your face.

    You awaken, weightless, in a void. Slowly, your senses return to you - it's dark, almost completely pitch black. You are suspended in some kind of fluid. You feel some sort of apparatus buckled to your face, something in your mouth.

    Experimentally moving your limbs, you feel slight tugs and a weight that isn't your own on your skin - perhaps cables or something similar plugged into your arms, legs, and torso.

    Your fingertips touch some sort of membrane in front of you as you wave them around. Distantly, you hear a mechanical "whrrr" sort of noise.

    As you stop and listen, the whrring noise is suddenly acompanied by a "click". The fluid around you becomes illuminated. It is an amber color. You can't see past the membrane. The thing on your face is attached to some sort of tube going into the top of whatever chamber you're in. Perhaps it is a feeding apparatus? You look down and note that you are indeed plugged into the chamber.

    You are unsure about your gender. Looking down, your crotch is obscured by the thing on your face and the feed hose. Drinking the fluid is silly, you silly anon, there is so much in this chamber and your tummy is not big enough.

    Experimentally poking at the membrane with your now free arms, you stretch it and attempt to tear it. Suddenly, the noise around you increases and the fluid begins to drain! As you rip apart the membrane, the thing on your face unbuckles on it's on and falls away. You climb out of the chamber through the newly torn hole.

    Along the way, you get some of the fluid in your mouth. It tastes like ass.

    You are in a large room, dimly lit. There are multiple chambers similar to yours, most of which are dark. The one to your right has a large harpoon like object through it, and you can faintly see a dried up corpse pinned to the back of the chamber, plugs and all still attached.

    You pull on the membrane from your chamber and take a lick. Doesn't really taste like anything aside from the fluid, which is unfortunate since you still have that ass taste in your mouth.

    You grab a hold of the harpoon and pull. With some effort and your foot placed on the chamber, you manage to pull it free, falling on your ass. You now have a weapon, huzzah! But you're still naked.

    Your try wrapping up the remains of the membrane from your chamber around your body. You make some kind of weird tunic/poncho thing.

    Looking over yourself, you seem to be human (not that this hadn't occurred to you already). You are very pale but physically fit. You look down at your genitalia and see...

    You make your way over to the terminal. As you pass by more chambers, you observe that most of them are open, occupants missing or dead. The others are dark and inert.

    You attempt to remember your name and anything before waking up. You don't recall anything. However, you note that you feel some vague sense of sluggishness or fatigue.

    At the terminal, you look over it and find a power switch. Flipping it, the terminal comes online and starts to boot.

    You manage to open the cabinet without trouble. Inside is a collapsible rod with a shock tip, a handgun, a jumpsuit, a flashlight, and a pack of solid bars. You vaguely recognize them as edibles.

    You check the Log on the terminal. Apparently there was an attack some time ago by some group of "barbarians" a long time ago. The Reactor was damaged during the attack, along with a good deal of security. The installation was locked down, and the Reactor shut off to avoid complete destruction. You and your counterparts it seemed were never meant to wake up, at least no time soon, until some sister Installation's crew came to get everything back in order. Looks like that never happened.

    According to the log, the installation has been running off of back up power for the last 483 years, eleven months, fifteen days, and ten hours.

    As for the Reactor itself, you lack the expertise to repair it yourself.

    Running Facial Recognition... Accessing Database... Match Found: Agent from MARDUK CORPORATION, this installations benefactor. You came for a routine inspection and report just prior to the attack, acting as security for an executive, and sustained heavy damage, necessitating your placement in the Hibernation/Repair Block. Your charge did not make it. As for your identification, this information is unknown to me."

    You shed your poncho-tunic and put on the jumpsuit. You check the handgun - it has a full magazine, 20 rounds, solid ammunition. You place it in a holster on the jumpsuit. You hang the shock-rod off of a loop on your new jumpsuit. You finish off the edibles, grateful to have the taste of ass-fluid scrubbed from your mouth.

    NANA has returned to her original state.

    "B-by the WAAAAAAAAAAAy, there is an ANOMOLY of sommme soooooooorrrrrrrrrt in the maintenance SHAFTS nearb-b-byyyyy." She slides over to the terminal and accesses the Installation Map. The Maintanence shaft can be accessed through an entrance down Corridor A. The Security Block is located down Corridor B, which branches off past the entrance to the maintenance shaft, and has a proper Armory.

    "Be C-careeful, dearie. My s-sENSORS do not reach outsi-siDE of the HABitatiiiion block, and I do N-not know what is out theeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrre."
    The Main Reactor is inactive. Given how long its been and the damage it sustained, you figure it might be completely inoperable.

    You look through the rest of the Terminal. The information regarding the Research Block is classified, all you can gather is that it involved cybernetics development, applications various.

    You aren't sure how security would react to your activities - You shouldn't be awake, you aren't part of the local team, and the whole Installation is under lockdown. However, they should remember you - unless the Security AI's corruption and decay is even worse than NANA's and its gone completely apeshit.

    Also, I'd like some input on how I'm running this. I tried running another quest a long while ago, and it only lasted one thread and only one person was actually playing. Do I go too fast or slow? Too much or little detail? Anything you think I could improve?

    I'm so glad you asked!

    This is based on "The City" from BLAME!, a manga by Tsutomu Nihei, who is trained as an architect. Naturally, most of his stuff has a heavy focus on detailed backgrounds and bitchin' buildings.

    As for "The City" in which BLAME! takes place, calling it "gargantuan" would be an understatement. Most "people" there are cyborgs to some extent, a vanilla human being unlikely to survive in The City. Silicon Creatures (transhuman techno barbarians bent on exterminating all humans) also inhabit the city, and are in conflict with The Safeguard (Basically an internet/cyber police force that has degraded into a "KILL ALL HUMANS" and "KILL ALL SILICON CREATURES" mindset) and The Authority. I'll leave it at that.

    That done, you head into the Nursery, the door sliding open for you as you approach, ID hanging from your neck. The lights flicker on.

    Inside are rows of "cribs" and some chambers similar to the one you awoke in, but considerably smaller, stationed at the walls.

    You lean over and look into one of the cribs. There is a small, mummified infant swaddled in the remains of a blanket. You accidentally bump the crib and it crumbles, dust erupting before you.

    A quick survey of the room shows that nothing has been "nursed" here for a long, long time. The pods are inactive as far as you can tell. According to NANA, this room was used to take care of employee offspring, as the installation was designed to operate in isolation for extended periods of time. As far as supplies go, there's nothing of use.

    You head into Medical through a junction leading there and to the Residential block. The lights here are not function, unfortunately. As you reach for your flashlight, you hear a creaking noise above you.

    The thing lashes out at you, regaining its senses, and you are knocked off - fortunately, while it hurt, you don't seem to be wounded. The creature struggles against the harpoon, some sort of ooze leaking from its wounds, its shoulder tearing and grinding against the harpoon.

    You take your shock rod in your now free hand, and with a swing it is fully extended and sparks at the tip.

    Searching through medical, you conclude that you weren't the first person to ransack the place. The whole area is trashed, by the ravages of time and by whatever has come through here, likely Chuckles and his hypothetical kin. There are various entrances to the ventilation shafts and a few maintenance tunnels.

    Note: You did indeed recover your harpoon and give Chuckles a few extra hits for good measure.

    You manage to find a three old cylindrical objects you recognize as CRPs - Cellular Regeneration Packs. Should you be wounded, you can use these to heal at an accelerated pace and even reattach limbs. In a pinch, they can also provide nutrients if you crack them open and eat a portion of the contents. You also find another gun, identical to yours, with about half of the magazine left. It also has quite a bit of what appears to be dried blood on it.

    Above you, you see the problem with NANA's rails. They've been completely torn apart here, and at the junction leading to the Residential Area, restricting her to the Nursery and Hibernation Sub Blocks.

    Gravity is reoriented here depending on which way you go, it seems. A bar hanging overhead seems to have been placed as an anchorage point.
