You punch up the console, connecting with both Florencia and Galatea. "We need to exit warp space. Get ready!"

Forencia nearly fell away from the communications screen as a huge blast rocked her ship. You could hear the sound of bolters in the background on her ship, red warning lights flashing everywhere. "It's about damn time!"

Galatea nodded. "We were about to call you Inquisitor." Her powerfist was drenched in blood.

    "What about Esme?" you ask.

Galatea is first to respond. "If she says go without her, that is what we must do. The warp will not take her."

You nod and a crew member looked up at you. "We're ready Inquisitor."

You nod, holding up your hand. "Alright warp out on my mark!" Both Canonesses nod, looking tense. "3... 2... 1... Mark!"

With a shriek like tearing metal, all three ships tumble back into real space. It took you a moment to reorient yourself, realizing you dropped your cigar. You look out the front window. You're fairly certain your heart skipped a beat.

The two Sisters' ships were there, and just beyond that was a massive craftworld, lights flickering all around it.

You were still wondering what they were when a massive brightlance blast seared the void several hundred feet from your port side, making you visibly flinch.

    Had they noticed...? No...

Upon closer inspection, you could see tiny shapes swarming about the craftworld. They were under attack.

"Inquisitor!" it was one of your acolytes. "There is a massive warp portal to our rear! Daemons are rushing out of-"

He didn't get to finish as a massive... thing rushed by your ship. It was a sickly brownish grey, its body irregular, almost blob like. It had a faint mother-of-perl sheen to it.

You were still staring after it when Filigree spoke up.

"What in the unholy name of the Great Serpent is that fucking thing!?"

You don't move for a moment, calmly taking out another cigar and lighting it, taking a long drag before speaking. "Are the engine's damaged?"

    "No."

    "Is hull integrity compromised?"

    "Well no but..."

    "Weapons online?"

"Yes but you're not seriously thinking-"

    "THEN FULL SPEED AHEAD!!!"

    Hail the craftworld.
"Inquisitor Delessa Kravos of the Eagle's Talon moving in to assist. Refrain from all hostilites at least until the chaos forces have been neutralised."
    Contact the canonesses.
"Ladies, I think the chaos forces are our biggest problem at this time, we don't need the Eldar taking shots at us. So for now, let's try not to hit their ships with "stray shots", alright? They're xenos, the Emperor will let them feel his wrath soon enough and we won't serve him by failing against the chaos forces by infighting. Try to support their defence whereever they request. Don't expect them to ask nicely even when they're already as good as dead. There's a reason our most benevolent God-Emperor never really got along with them."
"Filigree, can we get the rough position of the device causing the portal?"
    >> His Divine Power 10/19/10(Tue)23:41 No.12507364
    >>12507216

The Canonesses grudgingly agree, both ships turning to support the craftworld from a slightly different angle.

After a moment you heard a crackling, arrogant voice come over the coms.

"Do you really think we need help from an insignificant mon-keigh like you?" A faint explosion could be heard in the background followed by the sounds of a small scuffle and was replaced with a softer female voice.

"I am Farseer Rodwen. The creatures do not seem to be affected by our brightlances. Do you have any idea what they are Inquisitor? For all the years of my life I nave never seen anything like them."

You look to Filigree to ask her if she can locate the source of the portal, but she has her nose pressed up against the front window, her eyes tracking the large creatures as they hurtled through space. "... Why are they so attracted to the craftworld?"

Since your warp in, the behemoth of a ship has only increased its damage output, the sheer amount of energy it was striking with could easily shatter a moon, or blow chunks off of a planet, and yet these creatures took the blows as if they were nothing, glowing and halting for a moment when struck before continuing their attack, flitting around the ship like moths to a flame.
    >> Anonymous 10/19/10(Tue)23:49 No.12507436
"I do not know, Farseer, but that it is a thing of Chaos is enough for me. We shall strike with the Emperor's fist and banish this abomination back from whence it came!"

Fire upon the abomination, and ask Filigree if she can sense a connection between the warp portal and the behemoth-- if so, we should try to cut it off as best we can, since it could be drawing power from the Warp.

"I haven't got the faintest of ideas. It seems, however, that they're nearly invulnerable as long as that warp portal is still open. Have you been able to localise its origin?"
If she can't help, we should use our own warp powers to find it.

(the "behemoth" was used as a metaphor for the craftworld)

You fire, lances and lascannons shaking the hull, lighting up the glass in a beautiful display of brilliant color. Your aim is true, hitting many of the daemons hard, sending them tumbling back a little.

"Filigree! Can you sense any... connection..." The daemons you hit had quickly righted themselves and were now heading toward you, a hundred others swarming behind it, heading straight for your ship.

Filigree looked up at you, her face alight. "Stop shooting! Cut the engine!"

Filigree smirked. "Its going to take more than a pat on the head to thank me for saving your ass inquisitor."

You watched as the Craftworld powered down, the daemons that had been attacking it slowly detatching and drifting off. It was going to be a while before they all dissipated, several drifting lazily back toward the portal.

The farseer let out her breath, massaging one temple. "The warp is so turbulent... I'd imagine those things are from the furthest reaches of the immaterium."

Now that you weren't panicked you were able to get a good look at the eldar. She was fair with high cheekbones like all eldar and had a large tattoo over one of her eyes, the design looping back around her ear and down her cheek. Her hair wasn't quite red; more orange, and hazel eyes.

She was scrutinizing you similarly, sniffing in distain. "I suppose some problems can only be solved by an observer... Perhaps we were too hasty. The Biel-tan have always relied on weaponry to solve our problems. This was truly a harsh reminder to think before firing."

The farseer frowned, thinking for a long while. Behind her various eldar milled about, stealing glances at the console and the image of the impatient inquisitor.

"This... Is most troubling... As much as the thought of a universe free from mon-keighs appeals to me, having them simply replaced with chaos is far worse."

"As for the devices themselves, the only way I assume they could be removed is with a maintained lance. These abominable machines drill in a straight line so that should take care of it."

She smirked. "Heh... Or you could just blow up the planet." She sat back. "Regardless, I will inform the other craftworlds to be on the lookout for worlds producing such devices. I'm sure you understand that we will have to destroy these planets."

" Of course I do. You should, however, consider where we're going to get all those skulls we need for our snazzy inquisitorial outfits from. With all those planets gone, we'll have to look... elsewhere. Eldar skulls are supposed to look even better than human ones, right?" Sigh loudly. " See, I wanted to know if you have any idea how to construct a device preventing these machines from functioning. Simply glassing the planet is a solution the Necrons could come up with just as well. Maybe I should have tried contacting them." Try to look disappointing. " I- I guess I just though that the Eldar, with all those millennia of fighting against chaos, might have had enough experience to find a more graceful solution. A muscle under her eye twitched. "You are a shrewd woman inquisitor, but we've encountered these daemons before. Everyone on the planet is in the service of chaos, their bodies living puppets of the wormlike daemons. There is no saving them."

"As for the devices, the easiest way to stop them is to destroy where they're being built and destroy them during transport and before they actually finish the portal that will swallow the planet. In the meantime we will look for a way to retrieve the ones lost..."

One of your acolytes spoke up. "Inquisitor! Another three planets are sending distress signals about warp portals! One near Solstice, another near Dioscis Theta, and the third near Luther Mclntyre! And our warp drive and gellar field are both shot. We wont be able to repair it in time."

You bring your fist down on the corner of your console. "Emperor Damn it!"

You look to the Canonesses but they shake their heads. Their ships were in worse shape than yours.

Thanks for the story so far, but now you've lost my interest.
You've given us the backing of the most violent and destructive craft world that exists, who has created and deployed weapons that the rest of the craft world Eldar look upon with fear and disgust.
I understand that you’ve been trying to generate a compelling and interesting story that is huge and epic, fine I respect that. But I started to lose interest when Esme came back and carved up how may blood thirsters, three, four. These things are supposed to be the most powerful creatures in martial arts in the galaxy, comparable to the C’tan in destructive capacity and yet we slaughtered them like they were nothing. Sure, rule of cool and everything.
Then we got the warp portals that use simple tech to distort the warp, in comparison to vortex grenades that are seriously complex and difficult to produce. A plague that is produced spread by creatures that can transmit through radio contact. Energy absorbing daemons and now the allegiance of the Biel-tan who seem to be stupid and incompetent.

I’m sure you put a lot of planning and thought into this, but it’s taken on a Dragon Ball Z enemies ranking. Esme ascending and charging into the warp at the end of the first chapter, cool. Now we’re fighting a sector wide plague that will probably consume billions upon billions of lives. All we need do at the end of the story is kill the Chaos gods and resurrect the Emperor.
Being an Inquisitor I think could have worked, if it was slow, we slowly built up towards a single enemy to eventually break the chains of chaos that this enemy had upon a captured Esme and return her to the Imperium where she could take her place as a Living Saint and stand glorious at the front of a final battle where her inevitable martyrdom would take place to save a sector of space from being consumed by the horrors of chaos.
Sorry about the rant nature, I honestly like what you’ve done but yea, I think you went too far and lost some of the fun.

Bloodthirsters are not awesomely powerful in the official fluff. Njal Stormcaller blasted one into million pieces with lightning bolts, and scattered its army into the winds with a conjured storm. Even the legendary named ones are pretty weak, Dante cleaved Skarbrand in half, Inquisitor Lord Hector Rex beat An'ggrath in a duel, the Sanguinor killed Ka'bandha by dragging it into low orbit (using his trusty jump pack no less) and tossing it down. Killing Bloodthirsters is entirely in line with official fluff and not at all distracting.

    >>12510776
It's not that we killed one. One is fine, lots of people banish Greater Daemons of Khorne. A living saint should be able to have an epic battle with a greater daemon and kill it. It’s that we did it without batting an eyelid before moving on to the next one.

bloodthristers really aren't that strong. They are greater daemons yes and dangerous, oh hell yes, but living saints/someone like esme can carve through them

and vortex grenades are complicated. I never said the devices wern't COMPLEX. I said they were simple and cheap. They employ already existing and widespread technology. The warp drive from ships, and all they do is make one thats really big and not let it close.

The role of the inquisitor here is not to fight but gather information. use the starmap and look at the locations chaos has been targeting.

I'm sorry that your not having fun though, but you can't please everyone. I was pretty sure some people would be skeptical of this, especially because i'm using sisters which is an army thats rather disliked.

for example, why are the eldar so reasonable? Read about the Biel-tan Craftworld. They are fickle and warlike (quick to shoot) but they are also honorable and wont shoot you down if you save them just because your a mon-keigh.

Considering how much more powerful An'ggrath is than standard BT, in tabletop and moreso in fluff, an Inquisitor who beat him in a duel would indeed have killed a bunch of normal bloodthirsters without much trouble.

both my canoness and living saint can walk through greater daemons, termies, chaos lords, carnifexes like they are nothing.

Hell half the time I dont run my living saint and run a grey knight grand master w/ termies and they die faster than the saint. (my saint has enormous fantasy Pegasus wings so its not like she doesn't stand out)

If we're talking tabletop, to sisters, a single bloodthirster is a speedbump because of their crazy invul saves.

Your crew replies first. "They need manual repair. No telling how long..."

The farseer narrows her eyes. "We are grateful to you Inquisitor, but there is no way we will let a filthy mon-keigh on our craftworld."

"As for the Black Library, I am impressed you know of it... We cannot take you there, as the last Inquisitor who entered stole the Rhana Dandra. I have seen it once many years ago however. I only glimpsed its contents but my memory is good. I may be able to answer your questions."

The last of the warp creatures cleared out and the craftworld powered up once again. Already, several daemons were rushing back out of the portal, attracted by the craftworld's massive energy spike. A single enormous lance took care of it, sizzling through space and through the portal. There was a silent shockwave of energy as the void rippled around the collapsing portal, finally ripping inside out into a cloud of space dust and debris.

The massive ship turned tail, auras of energy engulfing the three imperial vessels before slowly picking up speed, a massive white vortex opening, pulling the ships into the webway.

The thing about your argument is that by the implication that we can defeat greater daemons, there is literally no power that is a threat to us unless you are going to create things that are beyond a greater daemon.
Second, Warp drives would be horrifically complex, more so then vortex grenades. They sustain a stable hole into the warp rather than a destructive vortex.
Sure we’re here to gather information, but we are now in the middle of a war, with an army to back us up. Remember you are dealing with players here, who are probably not going to stay on track and head off the confront chaos. For an investigation you needed to isolate us, give us a small group and send us off to gather information and resolve the problem, not an army.
Hey, nothing against the Sororitas. Love the idea of them and wish GW would give them some love, just like I wish they would give some love to ever other faction that isn’t a SPACE MARINE.

The Farseer lets out a short laugh. "Ahh yes. I had forgotten how amusing you silver tongued inquisitors could be. In all seriousness however, our seers have seen a storm coming for a long time now, held at by by silver light. That light is fading now. I fear if we do not act soon, all will be lost. We will take our leave as quickly as possible. We will deal with these mind controlled planets that are producing the devices."

"We have scanned your ship and had a warp spider deliver a portable webway generator to your ship. It is only powerful enough to create an eldar-sized portal for a short time before it must recharge. We will send troops to reinforce you should you use it." A small smile crept over her thin lips. "This is an opportunity to strike a mighty blow against the forces of chaos. Do well, mon-keigh and perhaps the doors of the Black Library will open to you yet."

The main screen flickered to black, leaving only the faces of the two canonesses on your display console, both seething with unfettered rage.

Florencia glanced hatefully at you before the screen went black. Galatea was a little less rude. "I hope you know what you're doing Inquisitor. The heresy I've witnessed in your past actions does not bode well for us."

Without a word, you cross the bridge, taking Filigree by the hand (who had been gazing in awe at the webway) and motion for the sisters to follow.

You travel to the armory in silence, only speaking when you open the door. "Equip yourself with anything you want. We're in for one hell of a fight. And feel free to grab anything that you think your sisters might be able to use and set it aside."

Sure enough, sitting in the middle of the armory was a small eldar artifact, shaped like the blade of a scythe. All around it were weapons... Weapons and armor... Anything and everything used by the imperium of man as well as several artifacts and named weapons.

Carol and Coral: Highly trained with the weapons they boarded with and can be given weapons to focus upon one of their skills instead of their overall skill. They favor any type of close combat weapon, however, and fight best when they can do so side by side.

Elizabeth: A fireman's nightmare, Elizabeth is an expert with flame based weaponry. Galatea will often assign Elizabeth to man the turret on her personal immolator. She is also very handy with a melta and grenades. She is sometimes considered a liability due to her love of charging into battle blindly and burning everything that moves.

Sonja: She is most at home with a storm bolter. Learned to use a Sniper Rifle in her free time. She has a sharp eye but tends to tune everything out except what's directly in front of her, making her an easy target for anyone looking to flank.

You go into the armory and eject the magazine for your bolt pistol, casting it aside. You grab as many magazines of psycannon bolts as your pouch can fit, holstering your gun after loading it.

You go for an inferno pistol next, grabbing two refills for it and placing them in a seperate pack, holstering this gun on your thigh just under your bolt pistol.

Seeing as your're already wearing powerarmor, anything else would be a downgrade.

Next thing you go for is a psi-tracker and some bling. You can never look too classy on the battlefield. You also grab a pair of vortex grenades, just in case.

You grab a set of powerarmor and proceed to strip Filigree and force into it, ignoring her protests about its lack of sexyness. She was pretty pissed by the time you pulled out the powerclaws, her eyes going huge at the side of them.

    "For me?"

She literally squeaked when you nodded, jittering in excitement as you helped her put them on. You stood back to admire your work. Filigree had begun talking to herself, slashing at invisible foes and making bad one-liners.

Dear sweet emperor what have you created?

You watch as Carol and Coral grab some melta bombs and extra ammo. Elizabeth goes right to the heavy flamer, trembling a bit as she picked it up, a huge smile spreading over her features. Sonja goes for a large sniper rifle and bolt pistol.

You proceed to give everyone a Rosarius, having to force Filigree's on. At this point the twins were looking at her strangely, but didn't question it.

You look back in the armory. Is there anything else you want?

They all seem pretty excited about the upcoming battle, already reciting litanies of war and courage.

You jokingly ask Elizabeth the best course of action as you walk back to the bridge. She gives you an incredulous look, a tiny smirk spreading over her features. Sliding into a fighting stance she gives you her answer as she holds her heavy flamer forward, taking a few deliberate steps forward, miming the action of setting something alight.

You chuckle as you enter the bridge, calling up the Canonesses on the console.

They didn't seem to notice you had contacted them at first, already involved in a fierce argument...

You clear your throat and both snap to attention, Galatea's face was flush with embarrassment, Florencia did not meet your eyes. After you let them regain their composure, you ask them how they feel about the upcoming battle.

Galatea was tense. "We are all on edge. Morale has fallen since Esme vanished and we are not sure what to expect... Also we received a message from the Eldar a few minutes ago... and... err..."

Florencia glowered. "We do not even know if that filthy witch speaks the truth!" It sounded more like a denial than an accusation, wringing her hands and shifting from foot to foot. "They just want the coordinates so they can-"

Galatea cut her off, her voice cracking slightly. "Another 14 inhabited worlds and 42 uninhabited worlds have been hit with these 'Warp Bombs' as they are being called now. The Eldar in the area obliterated another 37 imperial ships carrying them, but that's not the problem... The problem is what planets they were assigned to drop the bombs on, or rather, the pattern they are making..." Her face was nearly as white as her hair and you could see a very thin veil of sweat across her forehead.

    >Ophelia VII is the oldest of the Imperium of Man's Cardinal worlds, second in sanctity only to Terra itself. It is the site of the Synod Ministra and the Adepta Sororitas' Convent Prioris. The world is given over entirely to the worship of the Emperor of Mankind. Its surface is covered in mile-high cathedrals and bell towers, linked by avenues lined with the statues of thousands of Imperial Saints. Dungeons plunge deep into the bowels of the world, where heretics are made to repent their sins, subject to such methods of soul-cleansing as Arco-flagellation, death-masking, soul-scouring and the Trial of Castigation.

    >Ophelia VII, rather than Terra, was the actual headquarters of the Adeptus Ministorum from the time of Ecclesiarch Benedin IV to Greigor XI and is still one of the main centres of Ministorum power to this day, second only to Terra.

The four sisters around you looked absolutely horrified by the sheer prospect of this.

Filigree bit her lip, shaking with excitement. "They want to destroy it... As a show of power... Hehehe..."

She rushed over to your navigator, managing to pull up a map of the area on the big screen, despite the lightning claws.

"I never imagined... Such a scale of operation..." She licked her lips, chuckling quietly to herself.

The twins watched Filigree with disgust, but Sonja spoke up before they could make their objections known. "We have to go there and defend it... We have to stop the invasion. Let the Eldar take care of the infected planets..."

Galatea steeled herself, the emotion draining from her face. She picked up a small com, her voice coming over the radios in all 3 ships. "May I have your attention please... This is Galatea. We have discovered Chaos's target. Ophelia VII. In a short time we will be warping out. We will drop in the capital and call a planet-wide red alert and call surrounding planets to arms. We are against impossible odds... And we must be ready to exterminatus the planet if we fail in our mission." She looked into your eyes. She dismissed him with a nod, a small group of Warlocks gathering around her. One of them handed her a singing spear. "I will personally join you on the field of battle, Inquisitor. I have dwelled within this craftworld far too long. Battle calls me, and by my hand, legions of chaos shall fall.

The screen that held the Eldar's image went blank, the two Canonesses staring blankly at you, none too happy to be working with the Eldar. Neither one voiced their objections though.

Florencia shook her head, disappearing from your monitor. Galatea let out a breath, massaging one of her temples gingerly. "Just... Just keep Filigree away from them... I'd rather not have the eldar change their minds just because she's with us..." The screen went black.

A long moment passed. One of the twins spoke up, though you were not clear which one. "Filigree is a daemonhost, isn't she?"

Relief slowly spread through the twins as you ranted... until the end. Both sisters freezing in place, their eyes huge.

""Why would you do that?!?!"" Both exclaimed, drawing their inferno pistols and pointing them at Filigree. They don't dare fire them inside the ship though.

Filigree gave you a blank look. "Why do you tell people these things? Now there are two MORE people who want to kill me! Why don't we just slap a sticker on my chest that says "Hello. I'm a Daemonette."

Sonja gently took the sisters by the hand, leading them a few steps to the side to quickly explain everything to them. Elizabeth just eyed Filigree, thumbing the trigger of her heavy flamer, though the safety was clearly on.

You were suddenly hugged from behind by a pair of lightning clawed arms, the daemonette nuzzling the back of your head. "You're so sweet Quizzy! When they blam you for heresy, I'll be sure to take really good care of your soul, okay? Keep the scales tipped toward pleasure rather than pain."

Before you could reply, the ship lisped heavily as it was dragged into real space. You heard the Farseer's voice over your Radio. "You may want to broadcast that hold fire, Inquisitor..."

You could literally see Ophelia VII out your front window.

You rushed to the console, calling up the military and political leaders of the planet, explaining the situation as quickly as you could. After a full thirty minutes of arguing, they agree to let the Eldar destroy the affected planets and any ships they detect to have the devices on them. Twenty, maybe thirty smaller ships, though still huge by regular standards, disembark the craftworld, speeding off in different directions. The mother-ship itself stays nearby, its fire ports primed and ready.

"Inquisitor?" It was Rodwen. I would prefer teleporting onto your ship so we can all drop as a single unit. To minimize any civilian casualties. that may occur as a result of my own defense."

So I'm kind of wondering, even we we do win this battle, or series of battles, what's to stop chaos forces from pulling this stunt again? What's to stop them from resurrecting a couple of followers with the know-how and starting this whole mess all over again but in every sector there are chaos cults in? Because at the rate we're going the Imperium will be down to less words than the United Federation of Planets in a century or so.

You drag Tybalt off of Rodwen and put him on the small charger on the dropship which kinda looks like a crate with thin metal gate. He lets out a soft, metallic whine, pawing several times at the gate before laying down and setting his head on his paws, moping. He gave you the puppy eyes, but he could stand to be in the crate for a little while.

The Farseer shakes her head several times, rubbing the cheek where the dog licked her. She looked pretty damn mad. "Why does it shock you when it tries to show affection? Why does a machine show affection in the first place? Why did you pick that shape? Why is it so cute!?"

Her eyes were crackling with psykic energy now but she didn't lash out at the dog, instead sitting back in her seat and taking a deep breath.

A voice came over the radio. "We're all ready Madame Inquisitor. Where do you want us?"

You must defend the capital city

    You have 5 anti infantry squads (4 w/ flamers, 1 w/ heavy flamers), 3 Anti vehicle squads (1 w/ rockets, 1 w/ meltas, 1 w/ plasma cannons), 3 defensive squads (1 w/ sniper rifles, 1 w/ heavy bolters, 1 w/ multimeltas) 1 Fast attack squad (Florencia's elite seraphim), 10 standard troops (3 w/ bolters and 7 w/ lasguns), 7 medical squads (1 elite squad, 6 regular), and 5 hammer units (You+Filigree+servo skulls+Tybalt, Farseer+Warlocks, Galatea+retinue, Florencia+retinue, Tessa+celestians)

The Retinues are all equipped with 2 meltas and a second sergeant with a power weapon.

You have 3 Fast Attack squads (sentenel), 6 transports (immolators, rhinos, chimeras, Repressor), Light tanks (basalisk, Exorcist), heavy tanks (4 leman Russ [2 Demolishers & 2 Standard]), and a super heavy tank (shadowsword)

(you * technically* have more troops but they are going to different parts of the planet)

You can deploy your tanks in any of the colored areas on the grid. each color represents a different part of the city.

    ***

The city center (dark blue) is a single cluster of ornate buildings very close together. It is important that these don't break. They are tall with many floors, windows, and balconies. They are also very old.

Advantages: Stack troops for concentrated firepower. Small location at the center so its a kind of "choke point"
Disadvantages: low menuverability, flamers can damage buildings. Only room for Rhino body vehicles. Sentinels also OK

    ***

Inner City (med blue) is densely packed. The buildings are shorter and newer

Advanteges: Narrow streets make for good troop choke points. Very maze-like (we are assuming you know the layout) perfect for barricades and traps. Especially those that pour stuff from above.
Disadvanteges: Little maneuverability. Anyone in CC will be at a disadvantage. Flamers are a bad idea

    ***

Outer City (lighter blue) is far more open with 2 story buildings and wide streets.

Advantages: Good maneuverability and cover. Good for flanking and setting up barricades and traps
    Disadvantages: No choke points

    ***

Outskirts (lightest blue) Just starting to develop. Very open with some cover.

Advantages: Great menuverability and good setting for flamers
    Disadvantages: little cover

    ***

Outside (green) unbuilt. Mostly flat with tallish grass. some trees.

Advantages: Flat and open nowhere for enemy to hide.
Disadvantages: Flat and open nowhere for you to hide. Retreat is almost impossible here.

The Chimera is the standard armored personnel carrier of the Imperial Guard.
It can carry a variety of heavy weapons in its gun turret, such as heavy bolters, Autocannon and Heavy Flamers, although the Multi-Laser is the most common weapon. It also mounts a hull-mounted Heavy Bolter or Heavy Flamer, and 6 hull-mounted Lasguns on the sides which can be fired from the passenger compartment, making it akin to a modern infantry fighting vehicle. It can carry up to 12 men.
Immolators The Immolator is a specialized assault/transport vehicle used by the Sisters of Battle in the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop game. It is used to carry small squads of sisters into the thick of battle.
The Immolator is a simple variant of the Razorback armoured transport commonly used by the Space Marines. Like the Razorback, the Immolator uses the same body as the Rhino armoured personnel carrier and thus has similar stats to both vehicles. The Immolator could be armed with either twin-linked Heavy Flamers against infantry or twin-linked Multi-meltas against vehicles, along with twin-heavy bolters
    >> Anonymous 10/23/10(Sat)13:51 No.12545200
Rhino-The Rhino is armed with a storm bolter and, unlike many other Imperial vehicles, does not have a rotatable turret mounting. It can also carry a pintle mounted storm bolter.
The armour on a Rhino is quite weak, but this reduces its weight and allows it to travel quickly across the battlefield. Its rear armour is almost the same as its front and side, meaning any shots hitting from any angle have a good chance of penetrating.
The capacity of a Rhino is twelve Power Armoured warriors

The Repressor is an armored personnel carrier, used by the Adeptus Arbites and the Sisters of Battle. Repressors are a variant of the Rhino, converted to extend the transport compartment and adding firing slits for the passengers' weapons. It mounts a Storm Bolter in a limited arc cupola, a pintle-mounted Heavy Flamer, and a bulldozer blade on the front to clear obstacles, such as rioting scum.

Just FYI. The grid itself on the map i gave you really only serves the purpose of showing you how the city is layed out. It does not give you any restrictions on the range of being able to move one squad from one area to another. Its just a visual so you can understand the size of the areas.

Like if you say "deploy a squad in the inner city" i'll just assume that the squad is in the inner city wherever the enemies are. all you have to do is balance each ring.

You can get specific if you want to like "this leman russ always stays with the shadowsword

The Basilisk is a self-propelled howitzer. It mounts one of the longest-ranged weapons available to a standard Imperial Guard regiment, the Earthshaker Cannon. Basilisks utilize the standard Chimera chassis, but give up the passenger compartment and turret, leaving it with the hull mounted Heavy Bolter and the cannon.
Exorcist- The Exorcist missile tank fulfils the role of long-range fire support for the Sisters of Battle and Ordo Hereticus. It has decent range and varying armor piercing ability

    Ok.
Sentinels get to patrol the outside, retreating at the first sight of the enemy and relaying their position to our artillery.

3 ofthe medical squads have to serve on the front while 3 other always stay one area behind to treat the wounded. The one squad left has the job to transport the wounded from the front to the squads in the back. They can have 1 transport of their choice to do this.
The artillery gets stationed as far behind as we can while still allowing them to fire on the enemy. They should relocate at the first sign of trouble.
Florencia's unit will be used as a fire brigade, supporting our troops wherever they're needed.

The Leman Russ Battle Tank is a very basic and easily replicable design that retains strength and versatility while sacrificing comfort and ease of use for efficiency. The tank is very robust with a reinforced cast plasteel hull and turret, likely to withstand most incoming fire, especially on the forward facing armour. The side armour is similarly heavy, but rear armour is much lighter however.

Shadowsword- The Shadowsword is an Imperial Guard titan-hunter super-heavy vehicle. It is designed on the same technology as the Baneblade except it is armed with a Volcano Cannon. Much of the tank is taken up with the internal capacitors required to fire the weapon and is also equipped with advanced logic engines and targeting systems to make each shot count. Each shot is sufficiently powerful to shear off a titan's arm or leg but requires a good deal of time to recharge. For defence, the Shadowsword has the standard Heavy Bolter sponson armament.
It has difficulty operating alone due to the slow rate of fire for its primary weapon, and as such is usually deployed with lighter vehicles for defence. These other vehicles can also be used in an assault on a titan, for example drawing off fire and draining the titan's void shields before the Shadowsword delivers the killing blow.

The Baneblade Super Heavy Tank is the primary super-heavy tank of the Imperial Guard, and one of the largest and oldest armored fighting vehicles in Imperial service.
Massively armed, the standard Baneblade complement includes a turret-mounted Mega Battle Cannon with a coaxial Autocannon, three twin-linked Heavy Bolters (one sponson-mounted on either side, and one turret mounted on the front hull slope), two turret mounted Lascannons on either side, directly above the side sponsons, and lastly, a fixed-forward hull-mounted Demolisher cannon. This totals eleven weapon barrels of various sizes and roles, giving full coverage in all arcs. The Baneblade can be further given a pintle mounted weapon and hunter seeker missiles, bringing the total up to 13 (although they only count as 11 weapons).

-Sorry HDW, but I'm somewhat confused about your assessment of terrain and flamers as typically the value of such weapons is expressly CQB enviroments like city fighting and bunker clearing.

The Baneblade....it gets Florencia, the Immolators, the Elite Seraphim and the 2 retinues as support -and enough Chimeras to move them as needed.

The Russes....both types go in one battle group -Bravo, as a quick response force. They're there to counter anything sudden, and to bail out alpha or the Shadowsword as needed.

One of the big threats is this: Chaos loves, LOVES CC. We don't, not nearly as much. But we love to be just outside CC in shooty range. Tough way to fight. And the city doesn't give us any really good options for our longer range stuff.

Belay a previous suggestion. Galatea, not the Elite Seraphim goes with Alpha. We need the ES as another QRT option in the event of deepstriking terms/demons/jetpack marines.

Good ideas, but be careful: cover favors them more then us.
If we've got any demo teams or decent equivalents we can rig buildings to fall to cover retreats and to avalanche enemy units as well.

As for expected...well....expendables, check. Cultists, Blood Pact, whatever.
    Chaos Marines, probably. Oh joy.
Demons appearing suddenly and at the worst possible moments -thank the GE the xenos are cooperating.
(On that note let's try to get Rodwen to use a rough tactical slate so if she feels Warp Rapage she can at least give a location.)
And maybe Armor, which really would be the least of our worries oddly enough as we've got plenty of anti-armor assets and favorable terrain for ambushing it.
