    29 KB Con-Quest 2 Wormwood !!kJ4m1ekiW+4 10/22/10(Fri)21:13 No.12538730
Packing your things, and giving one last look to Jezebel and the Beast, you back away from Wormwood, close to the stairs. Cassius has packed 2 Chests full of books, money (But not the money Jezebel took), and more food, drink, and survival gear to last a long time.

    What do?

Ask about the money, wait for father. Ask Wormwood if the escape route he mentioned is death. Because if it is then we need another option.

    I had forgotten.

    You are Harry Spigglesworth, Con-Maker.
You have been instructed to make a Con-Man (An animated golem made of human flesh) within a year, but on your first day you succeeded with the Metal-Sifting Con-Man.

A Hooker Con-Woman lured you into a trap, and she has a symbiotic relationship with a large, and now dead beast.

Your father has just killed the Dean of your school. You are hiding in your lab, waiting to see if his Giant Con-Man, Wormwood, will let you leave.

Has the beast been awakened? We could awaken it so Wormwood has to fight it to protect us and then flee while he's doing so.

Ordering Jezebel to wake, you put a hand out and politely ask for your money back.

Bending forth over your hand, she makes several, choking noises until your coin, very wet, falls onto your hand with a disgustingly wet plop. You can guess where she was holding it.

Dropping it into your purse and wiping the slime off your hands, you turn to Wormwood.

    "Where's the escape route?"

    "Wait for your Father."

"He might KILL me! Where's the escape route?"

    "He would not kill you."

"Fine! I'll just go up to him, after he tore a mans throat out with his hands!"

Wormwood pauses. When you motion for Cassius to pick up the chests, he reaches out his hands, grabbing you, Cassius, and the chests.

    "Then we will leave..."

He turns over to the wall opposite the stair case, and pushes it inward, revealing a massive entrance as tall as Wormwood, extending off farther then you can see before the light goes out.

Any thing to try to say to Wormwood before he goes off?

Awww, and here I was hoping we'd be able to just ASK him if we were half Con-Man. Why do all awesome dads have to end up being separated from their protagonist children?

    "Why?"

Nah, you didn't. I just figure this is it. He's take us out and then go back to our father, probably.
    >> Wormwood !!kJ4m1ekiW+4 10/22/10(Fri)21:43 No.12539066
It's a long, awkward walk down the tunnel, and Wormwood never relents in the grip. After falling asleep, and for once having no dreams, you wake up, outside of New London, with Wormwood still holding you.

It is bright, sunny, and the smog over New London is no longer as omnipresent. The forests, though thinned from logging, are still large. There are 3 main roads leading to Old London, and Yorkshire. Old London gets two roads because it's London.

You look up at Wormwood, saying what seems to be your final goodbye.

Wormwood only gives one last hug, hunching down to reach you.

Letting go, he goes back down the tunnel, pulling the massive iron door back into position.

You are alone now. Cassius is there, Jezebel is in your lab, and you have money and supplies to last a decent while.

    What do you do?

So, um, why exactly were we afraid that our father would kill us? He seemed pretty damn protective about us. He killed a dude for insulting us. That's pretty hard core. But what's done is done. Let's go to Yorkshire. Best to go some place out of the way for now. Is Cassius with us still?

Damnit, we blew it. God, come to think of it, why did WORMWOOD think we should run? Why didn't he point out that we had no reason to run? Bah, whatever. ACTION has reared its head, so we'll go it it. To Yorkshire!

And I mean, it's not like we can't ever see him again. I assume we can send him a letter or something.

    >>12539237

He did point out that you shouldn't run. Multiple times.

Assuming you don't want to TURN BACK ON YOUR WORD and go try to see if you can bring Jezebel (I'd be okay with going to work on getting Jezebel out) but you can't stay at the school.

But for now, you need supplies and a new lab to transfer Jezebel and the Beast to. That is your new goal.
    >> Anonymous 10/22/10(Fri)22:04 No.12539298
    >>12539265
Yeah, but when we mentioned that he killed the Dean, Wormwood seemed to reconsider.

Oh well. Paranoia got the best of us. Seeing death is one thing, but seeing your own father kill someone got to us in a way we didn't anticipate I guess. For now, make for Yorkshire. We'll find some work there, maybe strike some valuable metal with Cassius, and have a new lab in no time. Then we rescue Jezebel. Though moving the Beast without Wormwood will be a bitch. Oh, and once we've settled in, try to contact father and explain our sudden paranoia attack, so that he knows we still love him.

Gathering your things (Well, ordering Cassius to pick up the trunks) you begin the walk down the Yorkshire roads. Hooking up with a Caravan (Gypsy Con-Makers, the best kinds), you begin the slow, on-foot trip. You could have gone by air, but that would have been more money than you have.

It has been 2 weeks since you left the lab. You have 38 Queens, 13 Blueboys, and 24 Shirks. (Money. 25 Shirks to the Blueboy, 20 Blueboys to the Queen. A queen will buy you a 3 course meal and 1 night at a good inn). Cassius earned more then half of that, purifying random metals as a parlor trick, and for the more canny merchants.

You have not made any friends amongst your new "family". It is midnight, you are eating thick stew, and everyone but you is partying.

    What do?

We're not leaving her for dead. Right now, she's sleeping, and will remain so until we wake her up. Now, I can't be sure, but I'd assume that they wouldn't just go and destroy a Con-Man, even if it was ours. And that's assuming that they even manage to find our secret lab.

There are 4 people of importance.

Jeremiah Stuntzham, a travelling merchant who, if the local talk is to be believed, very well connected, and willing to set up promising Con-Makers as long as he can get something out of it.

John & John Spitzick, a traveling father and son pair who sell Con-Man parts, and are returning to their store in Yorkshire after sealing a deal for parts from the same suppliers Marsham used.

And Johanna, a slavic woman from the north, a Con-Maker like yourself visiting from whatever land she comes from. She has two wolf-shaped Conmen, Kara and Stefania.

Which one do you talk to?
    >> Anonymous 10/22/10(Fri)22:32 No.12539543
    >>12539523
We can get parts from the Spitzicks and sell Con-Men to Stuntzham. Let's talk to the father and son first. Without Wormwood, we'll need a reliable supply of parts.
    >> Wormwood !!kJ4m1ekiW+4 10/22/10(Fri)22:41 No.12539632
    >>12539543

No dissent? If not, talking to Spitzick's about a reliable supply of parts.

John & John Spitzick are arguing amongst themselves furiously when you walk up, but their lips purse shut when they notice you.

The larger one stands up, beard covering his portly chin.

"John of John & John, how may I help you?"

You have 2 options, from the dealings your father told you of. Try to get a subscription deal, where certain parts are free to you as long as you pay a hefty monthly fee (Being everything but the hardest to find things, such as Infant Skulls with Ruby eyes for one). Or you could just buy from them whenever desired.

Whichever you choose, you need to talk to them first.

Telling them of your profession as a Con-Maker upcoming, they delight at Cassius, pointing out the flaws in his manufacture, particularily along the joints (Too much stress and they would snap like twigs), but otherwise of fine quality. Setting up contact for purchase...

Your smooth tongue convinces them to give you 1/4th off in all future purchases, so long as they might commission you for 2 Accounting Conmen and a Guard Conman, to be produced within the month.
