Chorister and high-school music teacher here. I want to write a traditional games theme song with /tg/'s help. Here's what we need:

    -a time signature
    -a key signature
-instrumentation (including at least one voice part, we need lyrics)
-3 verses (all with the same rhythm, ideally; otherwise, the first and third at least should be similar)
    -1 refrain
-'Extras,' if any (if there's a key change, if there's a stinger on the last note, etc.)

Each poster can contribute ONE element: the key signature, one verse, etc. I'll take the first viable response for each category, the first three verses that work and are /tg/ related, and as many extras as are usable and aren't contradictory.

I mostly write music for a cappella choirs, and can write for soloists with piano proficiently as well. I have enough grounding in the 'classical instruments' (the ones in a band or orchestra) to work out something for the song.

    Traditional Games is a misnomer;
    It implies things like Chess,
    Monopoly, Go, Parchisi,
I think you get the rest.

    Instead we're all 'bout 40k,
    (we always thin our paints)
    And endless pointless edition wars
    Without the least restraint.

We sometimes laugh at shitty trolls,
    We sometimes curse the mod,
But if there's one thing we believe,
It's BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!

The theremin line could easily be played by a flute instead. It'd lose a bit on the louder passages, and might need to be adjusted an octave in a few places, but nothing a flautist couldn't easily do for him/herself.

Sorry, Guitar is one of the few instruments I know basically nothing about. As far as chords go, they'd be of limited use anyway. The first page is written in a pre-chordal style, and most of the song after the first 'verse' is tone clusters.
    >> Joe Shmoe, the magical bard of happiness and joy 10/27/10(Wed)02:09 No.12585981
Also, thanks all for the kind words. I'm glad someone enjoyed this--honestly, I just felt like writing some music and thought this'd be an 'interesting' source for a piece. Turned out, this was fun.

Also, sorry that the music's so sloppy; I was rushing by the time I got to page editing, and did a pretty half-ass job, if I say so myself. It all looks legible, so that's the important thing, I guess.

I'm back! Having seen that the thread was still alive, I decided I'd repost the song. I've cleaned up the music a bit, so it should be easier to read. Still can't figure out how to get it to render in black and white, but it's something. I've also made some changes to the music, mostly minor ones to fix a few chords or form a more coherent melody.

Also, I've uploaded a file of the song as it sounds in midi playback. You can access it here:

    http://www.wikiupload.com/AWXVIADK28PCRZQ

It's just midi, so don't expect great things, but in conjunction with the sheet music and a good imagination it should give you an idea of what the piece would sound like if performed.
