Fire rang out in the narrow corridors of the control room as Mono crashed in with a squad of drones. The fight was quick but it was dirty. The room was cleared just enough for a R00 to infiltrate the program. And forcibly overrode the last of the robotic menace that worked tirelessly to fight not for protection but for annihilation of life.

Meanwhile the Land fortress slowed to a halt as its starboard has been severely damaged thanks to Iron's ceaseless firepower Ghosts' bitank squad, Ghoul's Striders, and Bravo Team's few and finest who managed to withstand the terrible conditions of this battle of attrition.

It would seem that we have recovered what was left of the 41st charred industry, while meager we have managed to secure a ripe resource on Industrial schematics that detail Energy savings , economic output, and what seems to be cycles upon cycles of macromanagement theory that have evolved organically under wartime conditions.

With this alone> Millitarizing neutral territory with freshly assembled armor can be accomplished with far greater ease than what was first imagined.

Not only that, but we have recovered a planetside battery capable of firing at galactic ranges. It would seem that with this weapon, the 41st has intended to use it to shoot down enemy ships. We must take care to keep this location safe- or risk handing it to the enemy.

Major Walker lets out a heavy sigh after watching the massive Land fortress come to a slow halt on the view screen. Cheers from the ground forces erupt from his headset; he severs the link, knowing only full well that all the staff in the command center, as well as the rest of the ship, are cheering as well. Looking over, he sees XO McMillan frantically announcing Bravo's victory over the intercomm.

Funny. Wasn't he yelling at the poor man only hours ago about not being loud enough?

The Major tries to take a deep drag from his cigar, only to realize that it's burnt well past being a stub. A snort - a realization that he was so focused on the fight, that he failed to notice the ashes sprinkling his pants. By his book, this was what a good commander ought to be.

Placing his old cigar in an ash tray and drawing a fresh one from his pocket, Walker simply rolls it in his fingers, staring at some far-off point beyond the rolled-up stick of tobacco. At this moment, if one was to look behind his sunglasses, one would see not the eyes of a triumphant commander, but of a weary old man.
    >> [Gr.CO] Maj. Walker !IMYfe1j54Y 11/22/10(Mon)00:55 No.12887866
    >>12887657

Sighing once more, he cuts the tip from his cigar, places it in his mouth, and lights it, taking in a deep drag and causing the tip to burn a fiery red before pulling the cigar from his mouth. Tilting his head back and closing his eyes, he slowly exhales through his nose, sending twin plumes of smoke from his nostrils like some dragon of old.

Bravo did well, fought hard, and won the day. It didn’t go as expected – but of course, what does? A flick of his wrist brought up camera feeds from various troops. If they weren’t cheering or celebrating in some way, they were slumped over controls, leaning against walls, against anything, all with their eyes closed. Yes. Rest. They had earned it. Every last one of them. Even if it was for one moment, he would give it to them. A chance to rest their heads, to think not of war, but of all the other things that other men would do. A chance to be a man, a human, more than some faceless clone in some army doomed to die an inglorious death among thousands with not one to remember them.

But he would. Every single one of them. They were his men; he owed them that much. Another flick of his wrist, this time the camera feeds closed to be replaced with a blank screen with a blinking vertical line. They had done their part and earned their rest; but there was still much work to be done.

R00's eyes jitter momentarily as she looks forward and gives a slight nod.

Inside the ship can be described only as massive. Its structure could not have been made by painstaking mechanical assembly but instead grown organically. The machines came connected to the structure's nervous systems allowing it to run and maintain itself seamlessly.

The industrial rigging of the 41sts' handiwork came in only as a means to support the once broken structure and hold it up. A lot of the technology was preserved in fact it almost felt worshipped.

The exalted worked in something that was itself alive.

    >It's over now anyway. Hey OC, have you decided when the next skirmish quest will be?

Fierstrom disembarks from the pelican, accompanied by 3 Black clad Knights. The roar of the of the engines seems to have no effect on her unmoving hair and her perfectly projected voice.

" I heard the reports and I'm pleased. The resources here are more than enough to compensate for our armor losses and if need be, construction of a new ship. " She looks around, tall stacks of industry intact on the horizon humming busily despite the scores of damage laid upon them.

" However the Kernel of our winnings are nothing unless we manage to install a base here. And as it is, this planet is wasted. The surface can't sustain life, and nothing short of terraforming this planet will allow for it to be mineable again. Ironically it would seem that installing a robot army here is a roundabout solution. But until we figure out what caused the inconsistencies of the 666 order, we won't be able to explore such an option" She frowns.

" I heard there was intact Exalted technology here "

    > PS I have no idea what everyone thinks of skirmish quest nor what headcount I should be expecting on missions. So dole out your judgements herein.

Well I enjoy it! It's a very different take on quest threads, SQ is more like a traditional PnP than a quest thread. Which is great for those playing, since each player is their own character and can technically do whatever they want. Whereas normally they would have to debate a course of action for the group character to take. Which can make a person feel ignored when their suggestions are turned down or over looked. The downside of course is that someone not familiar with SQ is likely to be very lost at first.

As far as my participation goes, I play when I can. Which isn't often due to a conflicting work schedule.
