I am Ryhonn, God of War.

Every man who defends his home. Every knight in every crusade. Every conqueror, every liberator, every hero, every villain, every sinner and saint, assassin and bodyguard, thief and guard. Every man, woman, and child who has ever taken up arms and spilled blood has prayed at my altar. Every body slain by iron and flame a sacrifice to me. Every stone thrown by siege engine is a hymn. Every burning structure a tribute. Every sword forged an artifact. Every soldier trained a worshiper.

I am not bound by law, nor good, nor evil. I am not bound by right or wrong, by birthright or heritage. I am not bound morality or depravity. I am not bound by barbarity or civility.

I am war, mighty and terrible, glorious and dark, and in the end I alone will determine who lives or dies on the battlefields yet to be.

So come, ye gods. Ye brothers of mine. Make your children, craft your world so that I may beset them against one another and prove their worth and mettle.

For it is only in War one truly lives. And it is only in Death war truly ends.

Yaotl looks down upon the world and realizes that it rests upon the cusp of a new age - an age where mortals shall rise to seek their destiny, under the watchful vigil of the Gods.
And as he ponders, a plan begins to form - a grand event (10 pts.), spanning all the world and its many inhabitants.

First though, Yaotl does something unthinkable - he rams a clawed hand into his own breast, drawing forth the necrotized lump of vile flesh that serves as the Heart of the Death God. From this mass, he tears a chunk, slicing this in turn into 3 smaller chunks.

Reaching down, the Eater of Bones wrenches a large segment of the ocean floor away, creating a deep water trench filled with loathsome monsters. Here, he lays one of the chunks of his heart to rest.
Another he places in the deepest rent of the Obsidian Plains, a chasm of razor-rock and burning heat so deadly it would take a madman to plunge its depths.
The last, he lays to rest beneath the shifting sands and toxic rain of the Eastern Continent's desert region.
To guard each, he brings to life a powerful beast not of his control - known as the Guardians - which will watch over and guard against any attempt to steal the Heart of Death.

Weakened, the Eater of Bones makes one final act of land-shaping (3 pts.), raising a great mountain of azurite out of the sea - a pinnacle of navy-blue stone floating more than a mile above the sea, and reaching up into the sky a mile more - at the summit of which rests a small altar.
Any mortal in command of at least 3 armies may go in search of the Heart of Death, but they must defeat each of the guardians in order to do so - each of which is the equivalent of a force of 5 armies lead by an avatar, entrenched in a walled city.
Any mortal that brings all three pieces of the Heart of Death to the Altar of the Heart atop the Pinnacle shall be granted immortality, becoming an Avatar of their respective deity.

In these final moments before the new Age of Life, the God of Death and Destiny makes his decree, voice booming eternal, out to every race that ever has been or will be as an imprinted memory which none are free from.
This memory is vague, bearing only a simple message. The message is thus:

"To take the Heart of Death is to know Immortality, to know the kiss of the divine. There is only one amongst you that can take the Heart, and it is your fate to possess it.
You cannot alter your fate Mortal - but you can rise to meet it if you choose.
    Eternity is Waiting..."

And so it was, that the God of Death gave his heart unto the mortal races, that one amongst them might embrace destiny and rise to Immortality as an Avatar of their divine master.

Shortly after, the Bone Eater catches his first view of the Draughein - and he finds them enthralling.
With a grin, he twists a segment of the population, creating a sub-race (4 pts) of horrifically monstrous predatory creatures to serve the Draughein as death-dealing berserkers in times of war.

Though they pledge undying loyalty to the God of Death, these creatures - the Niehguar - are utterly devoted to their more intelligent bretherin, serving them to whatever ends.

Sentius looks down on the world, and finds it wanting in something he can't quite put his finger on.

From the Isle of Eternal Rain, rises a flower of wondrous colour. It's size comparable to a mountain. Over time, it blooms.

From it, rises a butterfly. Black and white, it's size comparable to a city, it flutters and rises above. With a flap of it's wings, it controls the aspects of it's creators. Clouds form and part on it's whim, rain fall and recedes at it's call. It is a magnificent sight to behold.

Sentius looks at his creation and speaks; "Go forth my child, and create great beauty."
(-7 Create Avatar, -1 Order Avatar)

And so the butterfly does, named Yigdas the wondrous butterfly. It lands upon the dew of the land of eternal rain, and flaps both of it's wings. The rain and wind collides at one point, and from that point the Sylphs rise.

Wondrous creatures, who love beauty and knowledge, they frolic and learn in the beauty of their land. To match their god, they are a hardy race able to stand the blistering sun of deserts and the icy tundras of the south. As well they are gifted with flight, to better appreciate the beauty of their land.

Soon they too receive the same order as their creator, and they build a city. Seated atop the flower that bloomed their creator, a flower of strange hardy material, they built a great and wondrous city called Everdew.

The Bone Eater sees his obsidian point of origin, and decides that there must be something to make this jagged realm truly a land of death. Drawing a claw across his palm, he lets several drops of viscous blood to fall upon the land (6 pts.), congealing into the progenitors of a race of true horrors - the Lampleira of Arcadia, vile she-monsters skilled in seducing mortal minds, fearsome in combat and incredibly dextrous - that would come to erect an empire spanning the obsidian plains.

While they appear docile at first glance, gliding on miniature angelic wings amongst the razor-rock rifts, it isnt long before their rasping teeth are exposed and latched onto their prey, gnawing a ragged hole in the flesh through which their precious life-blood may be supped upon.

Any mortals that dare to enter their domain soon find themselves in the oozing grasp of the Lampleira, their will withering in the face of the whispered promise of hedonistic pleasures not of this world; instead to be eaten alive or - worse - used as breeding fodder, prolonging their agonizing spiral into madness.

Upon their inception, Yaotl orders his children (4 pts.) to build a great city - Arcadia, the capital of the Lampleiran realm - not far from where he hid a segment of his very heart. He does not tell them of this, of course, and twists faite that they may not its location is especially vague; instead preferring to relish the death inevitable as mortals come in search of his heart; and it is for this reason that the Lampleira will almost certainly never recover the Heart of their God...

To aid them in their efforts, the God of Death creatures a subrace (4 pts.) of their ilk, called Ksasps, which are more intelligent (only slightly), bear a shining black carapace and a set of powerful wings in place of their cousins' claws. The God of Death is pleased by recent events. He watches with glee as the Lampleira and their slaves begin an epic campaign of debaucherous sex-acts and shocking bloodshed against the mischievous Filthlings.

Looking across the span of the world, Yaotl is very pleased with what has been wrought - the world is rife with the oppurtunity for death, and mortals meet their grisly fates around every turn. But, it seems some are limited in their ability to roam as far as they would like, to die in lands not their own and meet their fate in places unfamiliar... And this displeases the God of Fate.

Thus, the Bone Eater makes a bold move and enacts an event (7 pts.) that will alter the face of the world for centuries to come - he gives up a portion of his divine power, the very essence of his being, to create spectral bridges connecting the continents of this world. The bridges float several thousand feet above the water, are wide enough to accomodate vehicles the size of tanks and are substantial enough for heavy weight to cross, but respond to any attack as a wisp of smoke, breaking and reforming instantly - thus making them, like all the Gods themselves, essentially indestructible.

Any violence upon the bridges results in tentacles of spectral divinity striking out to destroy the source of the ruckus, thus making the bridge-system a neutral zone of sorts.

There is a way to destroy the bridges however, and, for the sake of watching the result with mirth, Yaotl reveals it - to remove the spectral bridges requires a great store of divine energy to be expended: the sacrifice of two avatars, each of a different deity, both willingly giving up their existence and disappearing from the world.

While the spectral bridges cannot be outright destroyed, they can be manipulated in origin and destination by powerful immortals - such as the Gods.

Firstly he whispers to Yigdas of his fears. Yigdas goes to Everdew and through the bond between creator and created, gets through a message to the Sylphs: An army is needed.

Sylphs from throughout the city and the island heed the call, take arms and practice their magic. To defend their land, their people, their avatar, their god and their flowers.

But this is not all they do. The Sylphs, both of Everdew and Saven, have been cunning with their magic. They have learnt their lightning magic can power much. Through this they have developed much technology based on magic, including imbuing weapons, transport and even entertainment with runes of the magic.

Through this recent development of technology both cities have prospected, and they grow in size and defences. Libraries, schools, hospitals and all manner of culture are erected.

Within the Great Swamp, a particularly cunning and greedy Draughein is born, Loatha Hul. He has aspirations beyond merely living out his life in the swamp, eager for greater things. Blessed by an amused Tabog Drue, interested to see what this particularly manipulative and insidious member of his race can do, Loatha Hul gathered together a like-minded group of supporters.

From there his small band of mercenaries grew into a powerful order, which quickly recruited large numbers of Draughein to its banner. The Lanterns were born, with aspirations to be the world's great mercenary guild.

Yaotl looks down upon his creations. He has not paid them much due, instead choosing the meddle in the fate of other races - and infact, the world at large.

Thus, the Eater of Bones takes action...

First, he grants his children the Lampleira a great boon - powerful necromantic magic, capable of withering the flesh or bringing a dead victim back as a tireless slave (civ adv. 5 pts). The necromancers of Arcadia quickly get to work, converting the corpses of the slaughtered and molested (sometimes in that order) Filthlings into a labor force to serve the citie's many needs...

Finally, he commands his Avatar (1 pt) the Pondervog to raise an army in Arcadia, to wipe away the remaining taint of Filthlings and to ready his children for the age of war yet to come.

Sentius looks as the Filthlings infect his beautiful land. Is it not enough that foul swamp borders so much of it? He will not have.

The cry is sent out to his people: They must be driven out. The Sylphs rally and use their magitech to drive the filthy vermin back into the swamps.

He then gazes upon the Couatl. Fierce primitive creatures, often seen as a pain. But Setius sees potential in them.

As some sleep he whispers to them. He tells them how to appreciate the beauty of the coral they see, the sky they occasional fly in and all it's wonders. A primitive cult forms.

His cities now well entrenched and thriving with industry, Ryhonn cannot contain himself much longer. To complete his current task he has but one last deed to perform before the wholesale slaughter of his creations begins.

He sends his three riders out, Greed to Higun, Despair to Valtirra, and Courage to Gottir. There, each rasies an army.

Despair, who thrives on the suffering of the weak, raises Filthlings by the hundreds from specially designed pits. The lucky ones are armed with sharpened sticks, the unlucky ones with barrels of gunpowder strapped to their chest.

Greed, who cares only of wealth, amasses his army from the teeming, poor masses of humanity. They are armed in cheap armor and wielding cheap weapons, but sign up in the thousands for a chance at a hot meal and something resembling a bed.

Courage knows he is outnumbered greatly, but not outmatched. Gottir, free of the Filthling and criminal plagues of Valtirra and Higun, produces some of the greatest infantry humanity has ever fielded. Armed in gleaming steel plate, wielding masterful blades of war, and riding trained steeds into battle, the Calvary of Gottir has little to fear.

The Riders of Gottir stand their ground to the last. Legends of survivors will no doubt recount the battle between both avatars of the god of war, but in the end it could not be denied that Courage was the strongest.

Everdew, being the firstborn child of the Sylphs, has usually taken up most of Sentius' creation.

That was until coral cult prayed to him of the Leviathan movements. This troubled Sentius to no end, and so he sent out to his priests to be wary.

The priests took great heed of this. The city of Saven was set upon enrolling everyone able into their army, every single Sylph was taught in the ways of combat.

The product was no single army, but two armies. Both ready to die for the Sylph way of life, of the way of Setius, of the way of flowers.

Loatha Hul's order spread far and wide, mass sacrifices were made to ensure safe passage across the ocean to the human lands of the eastern continent, as well as to the Landsharks of the south, and even the Slyphs of Saven received offers of assistance. After all, why murder for free, if someone will pay you for it.

Meanwhile, in the Lands of the Lampliera, years of keeping the Filthlings in captivity and using them to sate their...urges...have had predictable results. Disease runs rampant through the Lampliera, killing many and bringing many more to the brink of death. Though the Lampliera in time start to build up resistances to the worst of the sickness, it still lingers in their bodies, weakening them and slaying their young, their rampant debauchery ensuring that it may never be completely eradicated...
