    We're going to play a game /tg/.

The rules are simple: each post will expand on previous posts, or add a new bit of lore in order to create...........................well. lets see what it creates. Oh, and once said, it is fact. It may be modified by other events or facts, but remains at its core a piece of lore.

Faggotry that ruins the collection of lore (or Lore) will be ignored.

    Lets Start:

The modern calender begins with the founding of the Dragon Fleet. It is currently the year 2403DF, the Year or Searing Light

It has been 800 years since the House of Kollinan rose to power. The current king, Arael Halvergan, has been working through beauracratic red tape for the past 30 years to try and keep the Dark Faucet a secret from the public.

The Dark king's sadistic experiments with mass soul sacrifices and unholy rituals have created a tear in the fabric of the world; the Dark Faucet. The Dark king and his loyal ritualists have tapped the Faucet and are siphoning out of it the pure energy of evil, which they use to fuel their expanding armies. But much of the pure evil energy is being used for something else, something that not even the Dragonfleet can suppress.

Legends tell of skyships descending at some time in the distant past and rescuing the survivors of the Fanged Plague and taking them to a distant land. the recent studies by the Gortorian astronemer D3654 through an enormous looking glass has revealed cities on the 3rd moon Oriclep that are similar in style to images said to be left behind by the strange beings in the skyships.

Salaria Granata, King Halvergan's niece, intends to create a war-kingdom of powerful Dragon Knights to combat the Dark king and his army of night. She believes that keeping the Dark Faucet a secret from the public will only lead to her destruction, and her adolescent kingdom of Rakir is training and preparing for the assault against the northlands. Salaria believes that the key to defeating the Dark king is tied to D3654's discoveries on Oriclep.

The public and most scholars believe that the Dragon Fleet was assembled from the finest recruits. The truth is much darker, as it was the result of concentrated eugenics and cross breeding between magical and humanoid races. The Dark Faucet is a re imagining of this process utilizing the undead and spawns of hell and forced breeding vessels of the heavens.

The independent city-state of Valenia has long resisted the efforts of the Kollinans to absorb their city, as it controls one of the richest deposits of iron throughout the entire world. Valenian smiths are renowned for their skill, and the city has been able to resist attacks thanks to the fact that its metal supply enables it to equip its troops to a much greater standard than the Kollinans. The Valenian elite cadre, the Hammerfists, have become a nightmarish campfire tale for Kollinan warriors. Wielding huge steel warhammers and clad from head to toe in thick, rumoredly impenetrable plate, these fearsome soldiers have decided more than one battle by shattering the enemy's morale even as they shatter their bones.

However, Valenia is but one city, and the Kollinans possess a kingdom. Valenia's wealth and skill at warfare have enabled it to hold out, but the city is gradually weakening. Because of this, the Valenian Council of Ten secretly supplies the king's rebellious niece, Salaria, the Red Lady, with weaponry and armor in the hopes that she will overthrow her uncle and ease the pressure on their city.

The Valenians provide their arms in secret, despite the state of open warfare between their city and the House of Kollinan, due to tradition. Valenia is dominated by a noble class which rose to power via control of the mines, and strictly enforces certain rules of social deference and hierarchy. Were the Council of Ten, nobles all, known to be supporting a rebellion against the authority of an established ruler and noble, enemy or otherwise, the consequences for them would be swift and unmerciful. Yet, they do it anyways, for they believe this represents their best chance for continued survival.

However, nothing can remain a secret forever, and already sharp minds begin to question where the Red Lady obtains so much steel...

Valorians are actually Dwarves, but they rule from deep under the city and prefer to remain hidden. This is a deep seated quirk of the dwarven character, who are deeply private. the existence of dwarves is a secret.

The champion of the arena, Drull Hammerfist, does not know of the Valorians, and was given the name hammerfist because his fighting style mimics the Hammerfist Style almost perfectlly.

the dwarves of Valeria are in debate as to what to do whith him.

My friends should you ever find yourself in the slum of Valenia, procure for yourself an expensive treat or piece of candy, to guard yourself against the "ragman".
He lurks in corners and just out of sight, of the old slums of Valenia, and then when you are alone or even with a friend he will approach.... The air around you will grow cold and thick with death, and you will think you can hear the wails of children in the distance, and then you will see him... he appears to be a hunched over old man, covered in a dirty brown, rat eaten cloth, his voice will echo much like a judge condemming a man.

He will ask you for one item....most of the time it is but a piece of candy, somtimes it might be more...if you have the item give it to him, if you do not, flee, flee to the main road and procure the item he asked for, for you will see him again, and should you not have it the second time you meet....well some say he kills you, and others say he spirits you away...but every year people ar found in Valenia with deaths that one could only dream of in their worst nightmares.

The lowest deck on the ship is forbidden to all but the captain and a handful of others. It is said that to look upon the heart of the beast is to risk sanity and life.

The people of the Endless Dreams use them as homes, carving out nonessential fat deposits and organs to dwell inside the beast, for it is the only thing in the desert that knows where the water is.

Only problem is, no one knows what they grow up into, and the biggest one just went into a cocoon, with the villagers trapped inside.

Three strange visitors garbed oddly and speaking foreign tongues appear, confused and injured, in the palace of the king. Two more appear on the grounds and are slain by passive-sensor devices. One arrives deceased. Of the three who lived, one takes his own life, howling in a dead language, and in his own. Later we learn he was screaming of the coming of "The Terror" or "The Danger"
After several years, their language is deciphered. They intended to visit Oriclep.. their name for our land? We believe that they come from beyond The Veil.
Abnormalities past the veil corroborate the theory. They have no knowledge of The Veil. We cannot return them to their homes. They age very quickly, and are gone in less than one of our cycles. We mourn them, but their offspring live on. We name them Farro, the Visitors.

in the years since the rebellion has grown more brazen, the Kollonian leadership have resorted to more drastic measures. The gladiatorial arenas have gradually become more bloody as prisoners are executed in matches, sometimes re-enactments of Kollonian victories. This change upset many of the those who treasured the long tradition of the old games. Hammerfist was one of the leaders of this fight against the bloodier games. He and his supporters believe it removes the honor of death in the games. Some say this is the reason he was the target of an assassination, but no one has taken responsibility.

    >back.

Ever been to Glint? monster of a city it is, but it might creep you out at first....the thing most travelers and merchants don't like about Glint is that the place is more or less a beehive....and I don't mean that as a joke, the entire city is stacked buildings on buildings in the shape of giant honeycombs. it's easy to get around in but odd when you first see it.

the second thing people don't like is the giant bees that they train and keep in Glint, legend has it that a sorcerer created a giant queen bee Glint when it was just a hamlet, so the bees would protect the villagers from raiders... each bee that was borne from the queen was sent to one of the villagers, it would do tasks for them in exchange for food, and the villagers in turn would take care of the queen....when Glint became large though problems began to occur, the food that helped both was running low and even the honey that the villagers began making wasn't making a dent in their hunger.

So the People of Glint learned to fight from the backs of their bees...it was difficult at first, but in time they were able to take the fertile land they needed for crops, with the added land came a wider variaty of professions and blacksmiths were eventually able to make armor for those who fought.

Now known as the insect riders of Glint, they are mostly a police and mercenary force. Many of these riders are valued on the battlefield as scouts and when an entire band of them is hired or works together they will usually break the line and weaken the enemy dramatically before the true force even arrives.

Rumor has it that Many of the insect riders are also druids or shamans that bring with them the spellcasting of the wild, summoning swarms of insects so large they could darken the sky.

Ever been to Borta? it's this small island right off the coast in the south....theres not much to it but the women and the sun, and the fish aren't bad either, but they serve this alcohol that they call the "water of life"... now it's strong, and has a very fruity taste to it, but it's expensive...I mean really expensive...you see they catch a fairy in a jar, and put a few pieces of fruit in there, then after they wash the fairy, they drown it in some alcohol they make locally, the fairy gets pickled but releases some magic into the alcohol....at least thats what they told me, I won't say it doesn't work though got lucky twice that night."

A band of treasure hunters known as the Kuehl Sishols has been combing the ruins of the Gortorian cities that fell centuries ago with the advent of the Fanged Plague. Hired by King Halvergan, the Sishols are searching for magical artifacts of power, tomes of knowledge, and any sorts of tools that Kollinan can use to take out the Dark King and his wicked plans, so that Kollinan's increasing tensions with Rakir and other cities can be safely lowered. Halvergan's biggest fear, though, is that the Dark Faucet will be used to bring back the Shi-Chun-- once the world's greatest society of warriors and the creators of the Dragonfleet. If the Shi-Chun were to return, they would surely exact revenge on the descendants of those who banished the Shi-Chun to the Realm of Innumerable Despairs. The original banishers, in fact, being the House of Kollinan.

Far to the south, beyond the tempest ocean, where the stars change into strange, alien constellations are the icelands. There is nothing but ice and ocean, no sold ground to speak of. it is bitterly cold, the days do not follow the natural order here, with nights that last for a moon and days that are season or more long.
In this land live the icemen of Hree. They are a semi nomadic people which burrow into the vast icebergs that circle the bottom of the world. they switch to a new 'berg every generation or so, before the vast peices of ice melt, break up, or find thier way out of the circular current below the ocean of tempests.
There live in many small clans of roughly 150 people in each iceberg, eking out a living in the tough wastelands. In the summer they hunt the migrating seals and birds that come down onto the ice to feed. in the winter they hunt the Krisk, the huge whale like creatures which slip and slide along the ice on thier six flippers, devouring the the ice in huge razor maws. Altough hard to kill, a single krisk will provide a clan with a years worth of blubber, hide and bone. As well as this their stomach juices will provoke a strong glowing reaction in the small worms that live among the ice. A usefull source of heatless light in an environment like this.

Though the Icemen do not know it, they are the remnants of the once-proud Elven kingdom of Thieran. In 1200 DF the kingdom was crushed by the combined might of the human nations and razed to the ground. Its survivors fled on great ships wherever the winds would take them, with one group ending up at the poles. They quickly regressed into barbarism, losing all knowledge of what they once were.

Upon their initial arrival, they were greatly disturbed by the changed sky, yet nowadays the tribesmen think nothing of it.

The Rockspar Mountains, or "Perilous, Perilous Mountains", the name ascribed to them by travelers, harbor dangers beyond which any realize. Sheltered deep within the caverns of the titanic peaks dwell the Darkmen. Twisted creatures with pale white skin and glowing violet eyes, they make their society in the dark, unbeknownst to those above. They practice dark sorcery and ritual sacrifice, and have become skilled warriors due to hundreds of years battling cave beasts.

Even as the Red Lady builds her new domain, the Underground Kingdom sends scouts to the surface for the first time in hundreds of years, for the omens are clear.

We arrived in light, from our homes as distant as a star. My husband and I began as strangers.. we were just apprentices to Xyiang Ko, the high magus. The magus died shortly after arriving. My husband.. he is gone now. Driven mad by the journey to Oriclep, and the visions it gave him.

    Yes. Oriclep. We made it.

But they could not send us back; they did not know of us. Their records indicate a few spotty sightings of 'abnormalities' in what they call "The Veil". This energy.. we cannot even perceive it, but this is part of what caused us to fail. The only thing that saved us was Drull. Blessed bastard. If only I had gotten to see him one last time. He came to us for help, and in the fight against the assassins, magus Ko was hurt and stepped out of the circle. Drull carried him back in, but he.. he didn't make it. I have instructed my daughter, Moy et Ebb, to construct a statue in his honor.

Moy is taking to magic well. Better than I or her father. She is.. learning this strange place's customs so quickly. They speak of her reverently. I believe they treat us so well.. because we fit their prophecy.

I daren't tell them what I saw in their ancient halls of recods. I daren't say what I saw between worlds. Let them have their idyll for awhile.

I weep for Shi-chun and the Dragon Fleet.
I weep for the people of Ebb.

2436 - The Year of Falling Stars
    Solar Circle 00000046
The first year of The Eidolon War
    Day of Fiery Eyes
Crown Princess Salaria Granata, regent for her late uncle King Halvergan's teenage son, declares a State of Emergency. To try to repair the damage her Uncle has caused with his lust for power, she authorizes another foray to the moon Oriclep. The dark energy that was gathered piggybacks on High Magus Edgard and meddles with his spell.

    Days of Flaming Blood
The High Magus' unwitting attempt to circumvent The Veil shatters one of the Pillars of Destiny.
Every magic user on The Eternal Orb is wracked; many die. Many dragons spontaneously gain sapience, hurl themselves into the sea, or fall from great heights. Others merely lay down, and the spark of their living leaves them. The Dragon Fleet is in Disarray. The Elder Wyrms meet, and a representative of their species speaks to the lord of Shi-chun behind closed doors for three days.

    The Stone Time
Drull Hammerfist and the people of Rend seal their borders moments before the cataclysm begins. This stands them in good stead in the days to come.

    The Month of Storms
Over the Icemen of Hree, The Maw opens and otherworldly energies consume a great tract of ice in its center. Their great hero Evolde finds an ancient elven palace of ice freed by the cataclysm, and using rediscovered bits of their forgotten heritage the Hree hide themselves from the world.

The Maw reorders the weather, and lightning storms are common. The air becomes dry, and magic unstable. Tried and true spells often fail, while the smallest whispered word of magic sparks conflagrations. People bemoan the end of the world.

The Trolls join forces with the Dark Kingdom.

With newfound stability to the north, the trolls push east, but are stopped in their tracks.

The Battle of Ficatrace is fought in the thick woods of the wild, and a group of forrest dwellers (fey creatures, centaurs, pixies, dryads etc) take out an entire Legion of trolls.

The creatures unify, and declare alligence to the Red Lady.

The east blocked, the trolls are looking south to conquest, and are even building a fleet to carry them across the Burning Sea to Gortory.

The Mycoid race pledges allegiance with the Thri-kreen kingdoms in the south, near Valeina...the mycoids provide food and leadership to the Thri-kreens who protect them. Though this comes with another cost to the Thri-kreens, when their life ends they birth new mycoids due to the mind altering fungi they consume.

however to lose one minion even in the field of battle is of no loss to the mycoids, for many will grow from the bodies of their humble protecters, Some stories even tell of mighty battles where the mycoids overtook their adversary with the strength of a swarm.

Even though they have been attacked in the past, the Mycoids keep trade with most races, and it is not uncommon to see a group of varying sized mycoids surrounded by a group of thri-kreen bodyguards in a city market.

It has been over 30 years since Salaria Granata's kingdom was recognized officially by the Kollinan government. Granata-- known as the Red Lady-- fought to unify the races of The Eternal Orb to rally them against the Dark King, whose wicked rituals and genocidal experiments tore asunder the magical barriers between this world and that of True Darkness. When Granata's uncle, Arael Halvergan, died of Pneumonosys in 2412DF, the king's only son, Arael Malak Halvergan de Kollinan IV ascended the throne. In 2414DF, only 3 weeks before the second anniversary of his rulership, Arael IV was tried and executed for Crimes Against the People. With no direct heir left to take the Kollinan throne, parliament voted 6 to 5 to declare Arael IV's eldest cousin, Salaria Granata, the Regent Queen of Kollinan.

The Red Lady has worked for almost 20 years to completely integrate Kollinan into her nation of Rakir, and in those 20 years the Dark King has grown much stronger, extending his influence to the Northwest Isles, and allying himself with the Trolls of Skwaar. Now that she is in the last few years of her life, The Red Lady knows that she will not be alive to see the downfall of the Dark King, but her successor and daughter, the Lady Illestra Granata, is prepared to champion her mother's cause and defeat the Dark King once and for all.

"Ware the Blood straights mah boy! Those treacherous waters have swallowed men and ship alike, beasts with razor sharp teeth and snapping maw lurk within, but they are but a fraction of the danger...."

"The true danger my boy is The Green diamond. A gem of the sea she was many years ago, the largest ironhull in the sea, she boasted the largest armed force of any vessal...however this was not a military ship, nor was it mercenary...you see the Green diamond was a pleasure ship....any vice you wanted it offered, from the throwing of bones, to slave trade, to assassinations, they did it all."

"But all vices come with a price my boy, and one day the reaper came to collect, no one knows how the ship went down, but it certaily did...many say that it was the Dark kings long ships that sank the famed vessel...and still others say that it was the Red lady's armored vessels, but The Iron hull sank, killing all on board. But not long after the ship began to appear again....night after night in different parts of the Blood straights, never leaving, but always coming close enough to let those passing through see that no crew manned the ship...yet loud rancorous noise would ring out and lights appear from the ship...Occasionally some poor fool would be sent out to scout the ship, but none have ever returned...The captains say they ran off because they were cowards, but the way I hears it they are captured and their souls sold to pay for the debt of all the sins that boat has bore witness to."

With the death of the old king, ties have been established between the Kollinan kingdom and the men of Valenia. Though there is still mutual distrust, both states are attempting to work past their grievances in the face of a greater threat.

Valenian weaponsmiths and armorers now openly equip the elite guard of the Kollinan kingdom and the Red Lady, though they reserve their finest work for Valenia's own soldiers.

However, the Dark King has long anticipated and dreaded this alliance, and so takes steps against it...

Printed the old one, scanned it, traced it and rearranged some of the continents (specifically, i moved Gortary northeast more and rotated it a bit anticlockwise, also i shifted the northern continent further north in compliance with >>13312765 ). Then I added a lot of newer, smaller islands for the sake of having... well, more islands. it looks more realistic now (though i have no actual practice with fantasy cartography, so i'm sure a lot of this map is probably geologically impossible, but oh well). Going to go over it now in MSpaint (oh boy) and add in the current countries/cities, though i might do a terrain map first, then stick the cities/borders on top of that.

meanwhile, keep up the writing, guys, this place is turning out really cool, if not a bit ADD.

The son of a member of the Council of Ten, spends his days in investigation of the actions of the Dark King. He leads a group of friends in a quest for information that at first seems like a harmless game. Little did he know that a slip of the tongue on the part of a drunken diplomat would reveal that the Dark King had, in fact, engineered the current war between Valenia and House Kollinan in order to fritter their strengths away while he gathered his.

Armed with this information, Jan brings it to the Council's attention, yet it falls upon deaf ears; even those of his father. None believe they could have been taken in by the Dark Prince so easily, and continue the war effort.

And so the group of loyal friends embarks on a journey to the kingdom of House Kollinan; if the Valenians will not listen, perhaps the Kollinans will?

(note: this is set with the original Valenian bits I wrote in terms of timeline; i.e, before the war is over. Names are to be left intentionally vague as a potential adventure to be played out.)
