    Previous thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/7457330/

A few months ago, you were the girlfriend of a hero, frustrated with his inattention to you and constant focus on fighting evil and determined to do something about it.

A few weeks ago, you were an aspiring sorceress, learning magic in the hopes of becoming a villain and forcing your love to finally focus on you fully.

And now, after being caught by a real villain and having your throat torn out, you are a vampire bride under the power of a great vampire lord. He promptly threw you in the basement of his castle under the charge of his other brides, and mostly ignores you except when you can provide him with a worthwhile diversion. Thus far you have done so both by being tortured for his amusement under the sadistic whip of Adrienne and by freeing a prisoner and attempting to protect him during his escape, but your master's comments have led you to believe that he has something more planned.

You are gradually learning magic, using the extensive libraries available in the castle and the advice of Rhiannon, a mute scholarly vampire bride. You have experienced a shocking level of success, schooling yourself in the art of summoning enough to bind several lesser creatures to your will, though the path to power has not been without its errors. What your ultimate objective is, even you don't know anymore.

The first thing to think about today, you think, is getting fed. The agonizing wounds all over your body must be healed as soon as possible. Thoughts of bribing humans flit through your mind, but that is for later; an immediately available method which depends only upon your own abilities is to use your summoning circle and stronger bindings to summon up creatures to devour. You move to gather up the necessary candles, only to discover that the tendons in one of your forearms have been severed, presumably by Adrienne's claws last night. This proves highly inconvenient, but you use your good hand to haul the necessary items up to the keep in spite of it.

Inside the mage's room, your imp has returned. He blinks at you. "Evening, Mistress. You look... uh... well, any coup attempt ya live through's a good one, right? Not that you're alive. Anyway, got the goods." He lifts up a flask at least as large as he is; you can hear the sloshing of liquid inside.
    >> Undead Monstrosity 01/06/10(Wed)21:13 No.7463472
You nod to him and set up the candles. You're too pained for a significant conversation. You light them, a task which is more difficult than you expect with only one working hand, then focus and chant slowly. The minutes pass as your will holds firm, calling something edible, anything, to your circle. Eventually, it glows and a soft blue-white flash of light reveals a small winged form, shaped like that of a child no more than three. A cherub, and the binding is strong. Perfect.

It looks at you. "Summoned by a vampire? Foul creature, you-"

It is cut off by your words as you reach forward and break the summoning circle's magic. Its flesh looks so soft and vulnerable. "Come here." It stumbles forward and your arm lashes out, hauling it roughly toward your face. Your fangs pierce its neck, and the sweetest blood you have ever tasted flows form its severed veins. It seems as though someone had mixed normal human blood with honeyed wine; you feel yourself mentally floating on the delicious euphoria as the cherub gurgles and expires in your arms.

It is drained all too quickly, and you cast the corpse aside and glance down at yourself. Only a few of your wounds have healed- you'll need at least two more creatures that size to sate you fully.

    What do you do?

How long did the summoning take? IF it doesn't take very long we should definitively eat 'til we're full.

Two more summonings, should take another 2 hours right?

So we don't have to roll for binding strength anymore, huh? Will we still have to roll 2d6 to see if we get what we want when we try to be specific?

We're going to have to go prey on someone in a village. But do our best to leave them alive.

The summoning takes perhaps forty minutes. That said, your sense of time is not as acute as a human's; you do not grow uncomfortable from sitting in the same position for a long time, and your wounds do not worsen if left open (that last being quite fortunate for you). Once you're working on the ritual you kind of zone out and won't grow impatient. That feature of how your mind works is one of the big things letting you progress as quickly as you are in the study of magic.

You don't have to roll for binding strength when you use your newer spell, which will hold the called creatures firmly to your will for about three days. When you use your other spell, which makes them your servant for a full month, you'll still have to roll.

And yes, 2d6 if you try to call a specific creature type, 3d6 if you try to call a known individual.

Another creature; you don't care what. You set up the candles once more and begin to chant. The sound of the assassin imp carving off and eating strips of flesh from the cherub's body is a little distracting, but not significantly enough to break your concentration. As you utter the words of the spell, you find yourself wondering what it says about your personality that you are largely unbothered by it.

Regardless, the spell is done. A flash of dark purple light, and another imp, half again the size of your assassin, stands in the circle before you. It sees you and grins. "A vampire mistress, eh? This could be fun."

The assassin imp glances at it and shrugs. "Not for you, mate. Sorry, you've no manner of luck."

Before it can reply, you are tearing its throat out as you mentally hold it still through your binding, lapping up the dark blood that fountains from its wound. Its flavor reminds you faintly of citrus, and is accompanied by the same giddy pleasure as always. You toss the tiny corpse aside with the bulk of your injuries vanished. Only one more.

Candles, focus, time passes to the steady cadence of your chanting. A flash of red, and before you stands yet another small humanoid creature; you don't recognize what it is, though its dark brown skin, coal hair, and the toy-sized broadsword slung across its back are probably enough information to discover it, given time. It doesn't even have a chance to speak before you are holding it to your mouth and feeling the alcoholic burn of its delicious vital fluid.

Your wounds are healed, drying blood stains your mouth and the front of your robes, and the mage's room in the keep is littered with corpses. What will you do now?

Apparently it's pretty much the same as the first one, but it's worth taking a look in just to see if there's anything out of the ordinary in it; since the sprite didn't scout the village its self, he just found where it was.

I don't know if it's wise to summon something very, very powerful at the moment, especially a celestial, because if it breaks its bonds it could own us.

Have the imp dispose of the bodies, but not before taking any parts that we can reuse in spells and potions and what not. We really need to figure out a permanent form of feeding instead of summoning creatures and feeding on them. Sooner or later we're going to piss someone off that we can't handle. There are many theories on where the creatures one summons come from; the books which you have read call it collectively "the aether". Regardless, your spell can only summon minor beings at the moment; you are in no danger of accidentally summoning something larger than you expect, though if you botch a binding things could turn nasty.

    >>7464009
You know nothing about mind control, although it occurs to you that vampires are well known for using those abilities and you've been compelled to various tasks often enough in your stay here. Perhaps, like your telepathy, you will be able to develop them naturally with practice.

You turn to your assassin imp. "Dispose of the bodies somewhere that no one will find them. Remove any organs which you know have an alchemical use." It giggles at you. "Yes, Dark Mistress."

You leave and walk off into the forest, moving until you find a stream in which to wash yourself clean of blood. There's no sense displaying the reside of your feeding to everyone. Then you return to the library and begin your night of study.

You discard, for the moment, your plans for a disguise spell; it will take too long to manage. Instead you turn to stronger forms of summoning and to animating the elements, attempting to discover how difficult each would be to perfect. It takes several hours of research, but you eventually conclude that animating an elemental, even one no larger than your hand, will likely take several days of dedicated study to perfect. Summoning larger and more powerful creatures is dangerous with your current circle; it would be best carried out in a more elaborate one with gold inlays on the runes and inset faceted gems to be sure of the binding. Developing the spells to manage it reliably would likely take even longer than the elemental idea, but you realize that unless you are willing to put time into an idea, you'll never get anywhere.

You have yet to see Adrienne this evening, but the night is already half gone. What will you do next?

    This conversation makes me laugh.

    >>7464557 >>7464574
You turn and shout, "Shut up, bitch. No fighting in the library." Then you pause for a moment, uncertain how Adrienne will respond.

There is a long minute of silence. Then her voice drifts down to you softly. "Oh, puppet, I think you have utterly forgotten your place." You feel your limbs start to move, getting up and moving towards the door.

You gasp in shock. Not again. A rejection tears itself from your lips. "No!" You struggle to reassert your will, but it is difficult, so difficult. You are almost at the door when you finally feel her grip on your mind give way, leaving you to stare at her from a scant ten feet away.

The cruel smile on her face gives way to shock. You've grown far stronger in the past week or so, and she apparently had utterly failed to realize it. She grits her teeth. "You cannot hide in there forever, cowering behind the mute's sentimentality. I'll be waiting." Then she turns and leaves. Based upon the screams which erupt from her torture chamber short minutes later, she is working out some frustration.

You return to your studies, feeling elated at your ability to fight off Adrienne's mental prowess, comparatively weak though it obviously is- Rhiannon moved her around like a marionette, after all. Hours of further study on elemental animation pass quickly, and you wait until the last moment before sunrise to leave and dart to your sarcophagus.

    ***

The sun has set once more, and you suspect that Adrienne will move against you as soon as she awakens, which she has fortunately not yet done. What will you do?

It's not like she can stand in front of the library forever, she has to eat just like the rest of us, I'm sure that we can trick our way past her. When she leaves we'll have an opportunity to escape the caste and find food, if we return just before sunrise then there's almost nothing she can do to interfere with us.

Guys, I'm not sure how this isn't clear: You don't know the spell needed to animate an elemental from its substance yet. It will take you the better part of a week to figure out.

    >>7464829
You briefly consider somehow sealing her sarcophagus, but you lack the tools required to do so, particularly considering that she could attempt to burst out with vampiric strength. Besides, you lack the tools required to drill through stone without breaking it; you might end up shattering the lid in your attempt to dump holy water on her.

    >>7464849 >>7464865
She is dangerous, but facing her head on seems more practical. You have an energy bolt, at least, and might be able to trick her somehow into drinking the holy water. If neither of those works, you'll probably be in trouble, though, and will be left no option but to flee.

Too late to come up with any other plan; she's awoken. As she shoves aside the lid of her resting place, you point and utter sorcerous syllables, conjuring up a bolt of energy that pounds directly into her chest, leaving a smoking hole. She looks at you in shock, and you fire another. This time she reacts, flinging herself up and out of her sarcophagus and using an unnaturally strong arm to propel herself clear across the room with great speed. Your bolt misses, and you ready another, which slams into her as she dashes towards you, fangs prominent and hands curled into vicious claws. She takes the damage and keeps coming, diving forward into a grapple.

You are at a severe disadvantage here and know it. You lack the level of natural weaponry which Adrienne so casually sports, and it shows as she begins to tear your flesh apart with powerful slashes. As she pins your arms with her body so that her free hand can tear your guts free, you manage to get a hand onto your holy water flask and uncork it, lifting it towards your mouth in a desperate deception.

    >> Undead Monstrosity 01/06/10(Wed)23:09 No.7465276
She sees it and relocates her efforts with a growl. "No potions, no more magely tricks!" She slams a powerful hand onto the flask, causing it to burst and spatter holy water in all directions.

You both scream in pain. The agony of her tortures is nothing to this; each droplet burns you like a potent acid, and the bulk of a large flask is all across your left side. The robe you are wearing grows soaked, and you tear it apart in a frantic bid to stop the burning sensation. As it comes off, you see your flesh- smoking as it dissolves. The skin on your left ribcage and hip is largely gone, and much of the muscle as well. You cower by the wall, screeching in agony.

Adrienne does the same across the room. Her right hand is a ruin, the skeletal form of her finger bones entirely exposed and the musculature of her palm largely eaten away. In both your cases, spattered other droplets on your face and body give you the look of the worst of pox victims.

It is long minutes before anything happens, and when it does, it is Rhiannon awakening. She quickly assesses the situation, recognizes the nasty stuff that is holy water, and shakes her head at both of you for folly before moving on with her daily routine. You realize that she'll want you to see that cleaned up.

Adrienne seems to recover herself, staring in horror at her hand. "You... you filthy BITCH! I'll never forgive you for this!"

A look from Rhiannon and she stops moving forward with a glare at the red-haired vampiress. "Fine. We stop until it's cleaned up and you can walk around. But then I'm killing her."

    What do you do?

Be there to take it from him and book back to the castle. Fill several other vials with regular water and put them on a sling. When Adrienne comes to fight you, threaten her with them. But you're not willing to end this just yet, in spite of the pain; you have to win it now, lest Adrienne end you for good. You silently call for your assassin imp to attend you, hoping that it is clever enough to arrive invisibly.

There is no mop here, so far as you are aware, so you move to the clothing chest and select one of the lower quality robes, wrapping it thickly about your hand and moving to the floor, where you kneel so that it can absorb the water. When it is soaked enough that you are in danger of being scalded once again, you leave and fetch another, doing the same once more.

The entire time, you can feel Adrienne's eyes hatefully upon you. You gradually drift around the room towards her nevertheless, leaving soaked clothing in place so that- yes, you can feel your imp nearby. It's cunning enough to catch on.

You position yourself across the room from Adrienne, soak the cloth on your left arm, and level your right hand at her. "Have fun with your final death, bitch." Words of power issue forth from your mouth, and a bolt of energy lances towards her. She dodges it easily and makes for you with a vicious grin, keeping an eye on your soaked-cloth "weapon" and drawing a blade- when did she get that!? She reaches you in a fraction of a second and swings her blade in a brutal arc which smashes through your already-injured ribcage, breaking it apart and sending your rotting internals spilling onto the ground.

You fall forward and feebly attempt to lay your cloth on her good hand, but she jerks back more than quickly enough to avoid your blow- and directly into the assassin imp floating behind her with a soaked robe. Fast as a snake it whips the cloth around her head, and she falls to the floor writhing and shrieking while smoke rises from her dissolving face. The imp ties the cloth neatly, and her hands lose the muscle structure granting them strength before she can tear the enveloping robe to ribbons.

You force yourself to move, and cast the cloth aside. "Not... enough." Speaking is hard, but the words are sufficient for the imp to catch your meaning. It darts back and forth around the room, fetching one garment after another and placing them atop the squirming body of Adrienne.

It takes a very long time for the screams to stop, and even longer before she stops twitching.

You lie back and surrender to the agony. All you can think of is pain, but thoughts echo in your mind nevertheless- Rhiannon? Holy water injuries will take a great deal of blood to heal- fifty people, at least. And you will still be expected to clean this up, though a bit of time can be allowed given your current circumstances.

Hours pass as you lie on the floor beside your removed organs, hardly able to think for the pain, but eventually you feel something warm pressed to your lips and feel a heartbeat. You bite down and feel the flow of human blood pass your lips, restoring energy and melting away the pain. When that one is dry, another is presented, and you do the same once more. Looking down afterward, your guts have crept back inside you and most of the bones are in place once more, though not all of them. Walking will be difficult.

Glancing about, you see your sprite and imp standing over the drained husks of an infant and a toddler, watching you. "Lady, is it enough? We can fetch another."

You look down at your body. You have taken a lot of damage; if what Rhiannon says is true, it will take dozens of lives for you to be whole again. There are probably only three or four people chained up in the torture chamber; they won't do much, though at least everything that wasn't cause by holy water should be healed.

You stop for a moment, struck suddenly by the horror of your own thoughts. You just devoured two helpless children, and are now casually planning the murder of so many more? What is wrong with you? You've become...

You stagger to your feet, and drag yourself over to the torture chamber. Tears stream down your face even as the euphoria of feeding washes all unhappiness and pain from your mind. You've become a monster.

I agree that right now tears shouldn't be on our mind, we just almost died and we're recovering from major bodily harm. We should be too exhausted to cry right now.

But I don't think that she's lost all her humanity yet-between the torture and feeding on humans she should be really distraught, stressed, and maybe finding it hard to think straight; but that doesn't mean that the sight of a dead baby (that she killed) won't hurt.

She'll cry, she should cry for months-plagued by what she has done, but she won't cry right now.

You cannot sleep during the night, yet you want nothing so much as sweet oblivion. You cry for a very long time.

Eventually, you are done. Nothing remains now but to go forward. You reach mentally for Rhiannon, wondering if everything is cleaned to her satisfaction. It takes a few tries, but you receive her assurances that all is fine.

You call lastly for the assassin imp, then knock aside the lid of your resting place. "Watch Adrienne's body until the sun takes it. Just in case. Make sure you see it burn."

Its wings beat gleefully. "Of course! I wouldn't miss it for anything. Not every day I get to see that kinda show."

You push yourself you of your coffin and determine to start the night off right- by making sure that Adrienne is disposed of for good. You call your imp to you as you walk upstairs, and it meets you as you enter the courtyard. "It is done? You saw her body burn?"

It bobs up and down in the air as it nods. "Like a torch, Dark Mistress. What's next? You're looking pretty down; want to go hunting? Seems like that perks you up."

You think for a moment. You will need a lot of blood... you could raid a village, or order every child in the region stolen for your consumption, or...

Stop. You can't stomach those options, not right now. You look at the imp. "Find me people. Groups of them... bandits or something. Be able to guide me there."

It gives a sharp-toothed grin. "Itching for a fight, eh boss? Can do!" It flies off, and you head back downstairs to speak with Rhiannon.

She is reading as ever, completely unconcerned with the fighting that had just consumed one of her companions in undeath. You're not sure if you should envy her composure or be horrified at her lack of empathy. "Rhiannon... did you ever translate Adrienne's entry for me?" She glances at you and points to the book. Some loose papers are sticking out of it.

You open it up. They mark Adrienne's page. The first portrait shows her as she must once have been- confused and terrified, a smooth-skinned beauty with flowing raven hair. The second was her as you knew her, smile sadistic and cruel, with hands that at a second look resembled claws. The art is exceptional; Rhiannon must be very skilled.

The text tells a great deal about the woman in a detached, clinical fashion. Age; no more than fifteen years your senior. Place of origin; a city you recognize but have never visited. Known capabilities; great strength, slight physical shifting, flight, minor development of mental powers.

More interesting- and disturbing- are Rhiannon's notes on the woman. It details her evolution from a terrified girl into the vile woman you knew- coping with her new situation by throwing herself into it fully, embracing the ability to cause others pain and using it as the pillar of her strength, hunting and torturing under the master's eye in an effort to gain and keep his approval. Rhiannon notes that he found her persistent, desperate sadism the most interesting facet of her personality and indulged it whenever she requested something.

You can't help but wonder if you'll end up that way. You put the profile away. You don't really want to know more about Adrienne's history; it doesn't matter now.

You thank Rhiannon and turn away. The night still lies before you and there are tasks to complete- healing to be done, spells to learn. What shall you do?

Setting aside for a moment the dubious morality of that act, a fully grown man can provide us with four or five times the blood of a baby or toddler. It's just common sense to go after fully grown people, and if we can, why not go for people who deserve to die? Adventurers kill bandits all the time, so it must be kosher.

And when Rhiannon said fifty people, I'm pretty sure she meant fully grown people. Adults. So unless people want us to kidnap two hundred babies...

You can spend some time in research of mythical items to try and find an item which would provide constant recovery of blood to the user, although you find it unlikely that you'll find such easily; that's not something that would be generally considered a main feature of healing items. Still, it is a heartening thought that one day you might be able to put together a situation where you don't have to kill anyone or anything.

We have several ways of getting better actually. And even if we can't we aren't nearly enough of a monster that we can't atone for what we've done. We still feel bad about our actions. We are not so far gone as to revele in them.

    >our once BF will find us, figure it out, choose to destroy us, and we'll kill him.

Right. We'll kill several high-level adventurers. We are probably about a 1st level magic user who happens to be a vampire. If they can kill the master, they can kill us. Though I still think we have a good chance of convincing to let us live or find a way to bring us back to life.

We should make absolutely sure the minion has found bandits before we go for this.

What if they want to help us? Then we risk discovery or we kill good people. We probably don't want to get into another moral quandry.

Oh yes, if there's anything left of Adrienne we should have it scattered across the landscape.

Perhaps something a bit poltergiesty-- normally incorporeal, but can influence things.

Indeed. We will do such horrible things to her. We will force her to do odd jobs around town, and take care of the sick and elderly. We will make her do good things.

Oh, and if we can summon and control her at full power, have her help us kill the vamp lord. Yeah, that could be useful.

On an unrelated note, I thought you said you'd stop pestering and fade into the background? In case you hadn't notice, no on really agrees with you or your views.

I'm only going to be around for another hour or so, which isn't really worth a new thread, so this will be the last post of the night. Been an interesting twelve hours; hope you've enjoyed it. I'll try to make it back here in two days. If not, well, I'll run things again at some point in the next week.

Your summoning spells calls "minor beings of the aether", not dead spirits. Compliments on the creative thought, though.

    >>7466980 >>7466981 >>7467015
You want something fast, invisible, and able to affect objects, yet extremely subtle. An air spirit should do it. You focus on such a being, and the summoning circle glows with grey light. When it flashes, there is nothing inside.

Nothing that you can see, at any rate. You sense a very strong bond with something within, comparable to that which you have with the imp- this spirit will never betray you. You reach forward and break the circle. "Greetings, spirit. You shall serve me as my eyes, ears, and occasional delicate hands."

The spirit's reply is almost indistinguishable from a breeze, but you know what it says. "As you say..."

Another servant, bound to you for a month. Just what you wanted.

((I'd ask what to do next, but, y'know, ending things.))

Lots of pointless vengeance in here, not enough badassery.

Adrienne was an annoyance. A dead annoyance.
To give her the attention of summoning would pay her far too much respect. I'll also note that summoning dead spirits (necromancy) would not be our primary skill.

Your brain is the computer that controls the machine.

Your soul is the person at the computer giving it instructions.
