    Hey /tg/

A 2099 thread on /co/ got me thinking about running a 2099 game.

For those who don't know, the backstory of the 2099 continuity is that all the modern-day supers (Spider-Man, Magneto, etc. etc.) were killed during the first decades of the 21st century (whether it was Sentinels or something else was never explicitly stated). Flash-forward to 2099, and a new crop of heroes begins to emerge, emulating the half-forgotten legends of the Heroic Age whose actions and existence have been deleted by the megacorps that run the world.

Anyway, I'd ask /co/ but they don't care about this stuff and I like you people more anyway. Any ideas for homage characters you'd like to play or think would be funny to throw in as cameos?

In before do your own work; I know everything about Earth-928. I just want to hear some other opinions.

Punisher 2099 was surprisingly grimdark for family-friendly 1993 Marvel.

It still has just the right amount of that CCA haze, though.

Isn't nice, normal Speedball still alive and well in that time period? Eitherway, Sentry 2099 could be a huge thing, and you could spin it several different ways.

X-Men 2099 was awesome for the first half of the series at least. They ditched superhero names, and costumes for the most part and it was more of a Shadowrun campaign than X-Men.

Cyberpunk 2020 has 3 source books that deal with horror and the supernatural I cant for the life of me remember them so start from there. also consider giving some of the abilities to characters with out the penelty on humanity. I.E. Tommy is a Solo who was born with enhanced reflexes, there for he counts as always having reflex boosters on and they aren't damaged by EMP weaponry. if you wanted to add more exotic powers such as telaportation just home brew something or check the supernatural books

Man, now I wanna read the DOOM 2099

    Some possible Ideas...
Fantastic 4 2099 (underground Doom resistance?)
Iron Man 2099 (Super hightech and super Grimdark)
Namor 2099 (I can't even begin to imagine this)
Green Goblin 2099 (Megacorp boss trying to unsurp doom maybe?)
    Juggernaut 2099 (Bitch!)
Deadpool 2099 (Oh god what is this I don't even)

You could also put the original Mr. Sinister and Apocalypse in as villans since they are both invulnerable, and chances are they are still alive. (I didn't read x-men 2099 though, so maybe not)

Any of those do it for ya? I'll post more if I think of anything good

I believe most of the 2099 books made it to issue 25 (at least), since there was the big Fall of the Hammer crossover.

Oh, I guess I should mention that! Since the megacorps started noticing the new superheroes (and the rabble's worship of them) they decided to make their own gengineered superheroes, modeled after the Nordic pantheon (because in 2099, Thorites are one of the major world religions, and their priests dress like The Mighty Thor).

So there could be room for corp-created slave-heroes.

Doom was pretty rad, especially when Warren Ellis was writing it. Some of my first exposure to Noam Chomsky. Spiderman was written by the always reliable and top-notch Peter David.

Wolfsbane 2099: Her parents are dead, part of the persecuted furry subculture wiped out in the purges of the 2080s. But she inherited their gene-mods, able to change into a red wolf. Kind of. Those went extinct back in 2030, so she's got the ability to change into the nightmare killing machine version of somebody who vaguely heard of the idea of a wolf, but has a lot of gen-tech at his disposal.

Magik 2099: Limbo is a world, as vast and deep as Earth, but operating by different rules. The inhabitants are none too thrilled by the endless war and chaos of the last decades. The dimension needs a Sorceress Supreme and a cabal has formed to obtain one. Those with magical abilities are in scarce supply on Earth, but one with potential has been found. She's a loli who dreams of rainbows and ponies. But she has the gift and she will do. Elizabeth Shu will be given the power of an entire dimension filled with demonic warriors utterly loyal to her and given the ability to summon them. She's nine. What happens next is up to her.

I don't believe so. Most knowledge of the Heroic Age has been snuffed out/ warped by the corps. The ambiguity of the end of the Heroic Age is big part of the feel for the setting.

I've always wondered about the Thorites, though. The rabble of the barrios have parades where they dress up like superheroes, but maybe it's just because Thor was really a god. Or an alien. Whatever.

Mockingbird 2099: Juanita Martinez had nothing. She was nothing. The lowest of the low in Nueva York. Nothing but the skills she gleaned from a hacked e-book that gave her full library access. She's been studying it and not just the expensive bio-med courses that are her only route out of Undertown. The martial arts manuals as well. Including the hidden Danny Rand Folios that only a clever girl can find.

She found them because she is clever. And she's practiced. And she's going to make her section of Undertown better, one kick-in-the-head at a time. Just like her favorite hero from that fabled age, the unpowered martial artist who was just tired of the nonsense around her who died unmourned and unloved. Just like Juanita.

Warning: The Cult of the Moon Knight: 2099 has their eyes on Juanita and think she is worthy to serve Khonshu.

Iron Fist 2099: No. I'm not awesome enough to even touch that one.

Captain Marvel (aka Photon aka Pulsar aka Tachyon aka Monica Rambeau aka Mother Earth) 2099: You've never heard of her. The corps made sure of that. Despite the fact that she lead not only the Avengers, but the greatest superteam of all time, NextWave. She died leading NextWave against the greatest threat this dimension has ever faced or will face, and nobody knows her. She was too powerful. And she's not dead.

You can't destroy energy, and she could convert her body into any energy that exists. When she "died" her energy and mind was dissipated, but not destroyed. And after decades it is coalescing.

Into Jose Minh. A perfectly ordinary teenager who can see the entire electromagnetic spectrum, summon unearthly energies at his whim and dreams of being a black woman riding a boat and guarding a harbor for a city that sank beneath the waves fifty years ago.

Trying to come up with unlikely heroes for XTREME (and outdated at the time) cyberpunk treatment.

Cypher 2099: Owns you. Heck, if Cypher wasn't capped back in the day he'd own the Marvel Universe right now.

Namor 2099 would rip shit up, as would Hercules 2099. So Hercules must be off planet and Atlantis is occupied territory. Imagine how much that sucks, stalking around on the ocean floor in a pressure suit, whacking Atlantean insurgents.

Read Ravage 2099 for an idea of what Atlantis is like

Then we better make this thread worth it.

The Cult of Moon Knight 2099 exists, looking for a worthy servant for Konshu. The Danny Rand Folios are out on the Net, creating unlikely martial artist experts when they are found.

I have no idea what happened to mutants in the setting.
