    ALOHA ANONYMOUS!

You are David Lister, Ace Mobile Suit pilot for the principality of Zeon and leader of the elite Independant corps: The Nachtmaren Unit.

Currently stationed in Hawaii for Marine Warfare training, you have spend the last three days embroiled in combat with the Federation Naval Remnant in the largest marine battle of the war.

In the aftermath of yesterday's session you returned to Hawaii victorious after forcing the fleet blockading the island to surrender.
Mostly by blowing the shit out of them with beam cannons and what not.

You returned to the island, and after finding yourself a tent to sleep in, got some much deserved rest until 7 the next morning.

    IT IS CURRENTLY 7:00 AM
It is Day 3 of the battle of Midway. Ookawara is still working on the Rhinoceros, but has sent you message saying he'd like to see you.
You could also check in with Base HQ to see what's the current situation.

Two votes to see Ookawara first, and it's off we go.

You travel down to the hangars to see how close to being finished the Rhinoceros is. It looks to be nearly finished which is good.
You get one of the attending techs to signal Ookawara, and he presently arrives, still wearing his eyepatch.

"Good of you to come so early David. Well, thatnk's to yesterday's little scavenger hunt we should have the Rhino up and ready by lunchtime, and then I've got yet MORE things to do. Those Experimental Marine MS designs you were supposed to train in for the Jaburo Assault? They arrived from California around 9ish yesterday. I've got to put them together and then we've got to put those through their paces as well."

    EMS-05 Agg

Designed primarily to bore through rock and create tunnels for combat mobile suits to use to invade Jaburo from the inside. The Agg is equipped with a pair of stubby hovercraft "feet" instead of standard walking legs, and mounts two large drills on its arms, a pair of rock grinders/cutters on its shoulders, and a laser torch in its torso to help in cutting through and breaking down rubble.
The Drill design seems to be largely inspired by the Drill-Ship you encountered in Kansas.

THE AGG HAS NEXT TO NO RANGED WEAPONS, BUT IT'S DRILLING CAPACITY CAN PROVE USEFUL, ALTHOUGH THE DRILLS ARE SOMEWHAT DIFFICULT TO USE ON ENEMY UNITS ACCURATELY, UNLESS THEY'RE HUGE GREAT BIG THINGS.

    MSM-04G Juagg

an amphibious unit designed to provide medium-range fire support for other mobile suits engaged in close combat. Loosely based on the MSM-04 Acguy design, the Juagg mounts a pair of 3-barrel 320mm rocket launchers for "hands," although these could be changed out for normal humanoid-type hands in needed.

A ranged support unit, the Juagg packs a punch with it's triple barrelled 320mm launchers. Each finger effectively has the same punch as a Dom bazooka. A full alpha-strike could destroy even a Land Battleship. Ammo may prove a problem with only 4 reloads per finger, and it can only be reloaded with a dedicated engineering team.

The point of the Agg is that it can create tunnels for the rest of the party to use. That is it's primary purpose.

    MSM-04N Agguguy

An amphibious unit designed for close combat fighting. Loosely based on the MSM-04 Acguy design, the Agguguy is designed to be heavily armored yet fast, attacking with a pair of spinning heat rods on each arm to grapple, slice and shock enemies. These heat rod "hands" can also be changed out for a claw-type hand similar to that on the MSM-07 Z'Gok.
The unit is also armed with head vulcans.

Eseentially an a marine Gouf, it's close combat ability is considerable. Possibly even superior to that of the MS-07B.

    BRB Dinner.

You can swap them out for a pair of Z'Gok arms, complete with beam guns, but they'll be back to being water-cooled though.

    Lastly

    MSM-08 Zogok

An amphibious unit designed for close combat fighting. A derivative of the MSM-07 Z'Gok, the Zogok has only melee weapons consisting of 10 wire cutter Boomerangs mounted in the head and extendable telescopic arms with razor-edged fingers, giving the Zogok a "sharp" punch.

It seems like the silliest of the bunch, until you remember that it's designed for close range combat, where retrieving the boomerangs isn't so difficult.

One Agg from an Acguy, maybe two if it seems like there's a need.
    Two or three Agguguys.
    One or two Juagg.

All depending on how many Acguys we have, of course. The idea is to have us all in the best suits possible and leave some around for other pilots. Unsure if mass-converting Acguys is the best move.

They're hyperspecialised weapons. They're built for ONE job, and they'll do that job excellently. They're meant to work as part of a team together to cover each others weaknesses.

You arrive at the HQ around 8:00 am. It seems relatively quiet. You spot Commodore Haylon drinking coffee and looking a naval map.

Of course behind them, are our Wolfpacks that have been persuing them. We estimate that they'll HAVE to mount an attack within the next two hours to even stand a chance, or else we'll catch them in a pincer attack, and that will be goodnight for them. Let's not do this. Ships on water move. The targeting data will be useless by the time the Rhino is up and moving, and that's even if the Recon Zaku survives it's foolhardy stunt.

Okay, deep strike attack it is.

Your three mobile suits rush towards the enemy fleet at full speed, a quick barrage of beam fire takes out a destroyer in your way and you breach the surface at high speed. You and Zolomon target what appears to be a Missile Cruiser, whilst Jolyne heads off towards an enemy Aux Carrier.
You and Zolomon hit the vessel with a spread of torpedoes and both your beam cannons.
Shells and missiles from patrolling aircraft whizz around you and both of you dive underneath the cruiser scoring deep gashes in it's keel with your claws.

Jolyne blasts at the carrier at point blank with her head mounted photon maser gun and then pulls out of LD mode and clamly walks her beam cannons on full auto across the hull from fore to stern. The Carrier begins to list, giant burning holes across it's port side. It's probably going to sink shortly.
It's a wonder that it's not exploded yet.

    KILLS:
    Jolyne: 1 Aux Aircraft Carrier

Your missile cruiser is smoking, but doesn't look out of action just yet.
    Nevertheless, the clock is ticking.

Using your thrusters agressively but sticking in MS mode, the three of you dodge and weave though enemy fire as you fight your way out.
Between the three of you, you manage finish off the cruiser and take down another destroyer before reaching the outer escort ring and diving into LD mode.

You tell the Aegis to target the ships whilst you concentrate on the subs.

There is a brilliant flash of ruby red light and a cry of suprise from Calvin.

"What?" You ask over the comms.

"My external water temperature just jumped to 97 degrees! My beam cannons just went offline and I've lost contact with the Aegis!" Calvin responds.

"Same here! I can't make a visual, contact through all of the bubbles - steam I think!"

"Every bloody time...." you comment under your breath.

On the plus side, the beam looks like it managed to take out the cruiser and clipped a destroyer.

The subs are still coming up.

Turn around and hit them with our lasers. If the water is too hot and they can't cool down, then it's time to make use of the claws.

This mission can be deemed a failure, they are 32 units, We are 5. We were assigned to be bait. We were bait, The mission failed with no fault of our own.

So, Kill the subs, Retreat and come back later when we have some back up. The odds tell me that we would get heavily damaged if we try to fight.

You have Calvin and Ruubens accept the first destroyers surrender whilst the rest of you chase after the other destroyer, you fire a couple of beam shots at it's engines. One hit must have gotten lucky becase the ship is wracked by a huge explosion.
The ship breaks in half and and tilts downwards into the deep sea.
    There are no survivors.

    "Huh. Lucky shot."

You head back to the Aegis to ascertain it's status. The pilot in his Marine Zaku gives you a thumbs up. The beam gear looks a little scorched but otherwise functional. No way to tell for certain.

    You make contact.

    "You okay in there?"
"Yeah, my comms transmitter went down though. I think it needs better heat protection. I don't really want to risk firing a second time. Shall we head back?"

You are heading back, dragging the Aegis and the damaged destroyer behind you. About an hour in you see a big sonar signal ahead of you, and closing in on your position.

"Hold your postion Liuetenant, were coming to join you!" It is Captain Boone's voice.

When you reach the testing grounds you see the Rhinoceros already floating around taking out targets.

To be honest, the best thing Zeon could do with the gundam and white base would be completely ignore it. That way Amuro doesn't get enough experience to be an ace pilot, the learning computer doesn't learn enough to really help with GMs and most importantly we don't lose a load of forces that could be used on more significant stuff. It was a vicious cycle. They only kept going after it because it kept eating their aces like a fat man on a cruise ship, and all because Amuro destroyed a full squad of Zakus at Side 7 almost completely by accident. Once that happened, the higher-ups were going to keep throwing everything they had at it no matter what.

The fact that Garma's death was blamed entirely on them didn't help matters. Ramba Ral's assignment was almost entirely "kill them in revenge for that."

The Gun arms are 120mm weapons with a unified ammo magazine that holds 500 rounds.
The Missile Racks are semi-guided heatseekers, 100mm in width, each rack holds 15 missiles.

The best we can hope for is to survive it and try not to be put in missions where we have to fight it. As has been said, it's a terrifying opponent, but he's only one person and can only be in one place at a time. Norris Packard had the Custom. Ral had the original B-type and got it sliced to bits taking on Amuro.

He was one of Zeon's top pilots, some would say THE best Oldtype. He also loved his men and had an amazing mustache.

Ramba Ral is probably the best Old-type pilot in the Zeonic military. Norris Packard a close second.
After that I'd put Johnny Ridden, Shin Matsunaga and Gato.

Below that I'd put Cima and Kelly Layzner.

Good game everyone, we got pretty far. Tommorow will do the end of the battle of midway, and have ourselves a genuine beach party episode. Get some teambuilding, and some training with the Jaburo MS.

It's not like I change the times and dates I do this around you know.

Sometimes I kind of like it when the episode doesn't last until 2 pm in the morning. Sometimes it's nice to be able to get some sleep at a sensible hour because you've been ill lately.

Garma(We did what we can do.) Ramba Ral(If Garma lives, The so should he), Norris(Just keep Zeon from losing, If he doesn´t need to protect the refugees then he should live.) Cool Admiral Guy from 08th(Can´t remember his name.) and Bernie(If we can steal the Alex, he should live)

    People who should die:

    Gihren, Ghineas.

Hopefully by the time we get there things won't have been fucked up--best case scenario being that the original Zeon still exists, which may mean that she won't get a chance to pilot anything.

Even so, we seek out and kill Quess on general principle.

I know, But killing Quess would still be saving him, Still i don´t like him either, But i do like Chan, And her death was pretty sad, I mean, Getting killed by the one she was trying to save... That was what cemented my hate of Hathaway, i mean Quess was trying to kill him up until that point. she only changed her mind AFTER the missles were fired, I say Chan did the right thing to kill her.

Quess is a character from Chars Counterattack, A gundam movie, EVERYONE hates her.

    The reasons why:

    Every character loves her.
She stops Amuro from shooting Char.
She is a reverse pedo for Char and Amuro both.
She is a SUPAH SPESSHUL newtype.
She acts jealous towards every female character.
    She kills her own dad.
She thinks sending earth into a new ice age and killing everyone on it is a reasonable idea.
She have no concept of chains of command.
She goes into space without a normal suit and somehow survives not freezing to death or getting radiated to death.

Basically, what is there to NOT hate.

Speaking of which, I just remembered something, was there a canon artillery amphibious suit or mobile armor? I remember something about one, but it might have been a fan-made creation.
    >> Researcher Sam 01/23/10(Sat)19:31 No.7741000
    >>7740958
Well since it's on hoverskirts, the Rhino is technically an amphibious artillery piece.
    >> Zeta Zaku 01/23/10(Sat)19:38 No.7741095
    >>7741000
The same goes for the Xamel. As for a dedicated ampibious unit, the closest would probably be the Zock.
    >> Anonymous 01/23/10(Sat)19:44 No.7741185
    >>7741095
    >>7741000
That's probably it, I'm curious though, would it be possible for an amphibious suit to have a shoulder-mount cannon like the artillery Zaku? or would the recoil be unmanageable? And if so, would some king of recoilless rifle or rocket launcher work? I ask because a large, slow moving target out over the open ocean that is best handled if sniped from beyond reach of its weapons might be something we could run into at some point.
    >> Researcher Sam 01/23/10(Sat)19:47 No.7741227
    >>7741185
Well the thing is is that even if its speed has been cut in half from when it was the Hilda, the Rhino should still be very fast and even more maneuverable. But yeah, what you say makes sense, though I don't know why you'd want to give the Rhino even more weapons. Wait, know, I know exactly how you feel. We should try to get those rear turrets upgraded to 120mm, and see if there's room for more missiles.
    >> Researcher Sam 01/23/10(Sat)19:48 No.7741237
    >>7741227
Oh, and one last thought: Because of the hoverskirts, the Rhino will be able to move just as fast on water as on land, so we don't have to worry about loss of speed when over water.
