The blue thing falls, getting bigger and bigger until it hits the ground, right next to you. You hear a wet, tearing sound, and you look over.

Your left arm is buried beneath the ice, crushed by a solid boulder. It's separated from your shoulder, connected only by a few thin strips of skin. You're losing a lot of blood.

Your vision clears. You have never felt so much pain. The scream dies in your throat as you clamp your remaining hand over your shoulder, frosting it over.

There's more coming. A hail of icy needles, falling upon you. You're not going to bleed out. You're not going to stay here. You'll have time to heal later.

Right now, you've got to get moving.

The pain fades into a throbbing numbness as the wound covers with solid ice, sealing it.

You get up, and move, straight toward the town, summoning all the power you can muster. The vapor in the air condenses, solidifying into a suit of armor that covers you from head to toe. The needles are falling, splintering off the ice as you run.

You need to get this thing to move. Follow you away from the town somehow.

You're praying. If Hretmar can't affect it directly, maybe he can focus his efforts on you. You need all the help you can get.

You call out to the Lord of the North, and you feel his power. The needles above you turn to dust as a strong wind sweeps the sky, howling like a banshee.

A cool green light emanates from your shoulder, erasing the numbness. Before your eyes, as you run, bones of purest ice form against your split and battered body, flashing into being as the force of a god manipulates the elements. A thin, watery sheen bubbles from the surface, and expands into muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin. Your arm is solid again, but it won't last long.

You're shouting into the air. "I hope you have a plan because you're gonna be real lonely if I die!"

The whirling mass shifts, ceasing its rotation for a brief second before moving, away from the center of the town and towards you. You can see the faint outline of a gigantic hand above you, wrapping around the air itself and pulling it with unimaginable strength.

You focus on the elemental, wrapping the fingers of your mind around its form, standing your ground with your left arm stretched out in front of you, shielding you. The elemental is attacking in force now, no longer resisting the god. It's over the lake, just in front of you, throwing everything it's got in your direction.

The arm splits, its watery core leaking out onto the ground as great spears of ice penetrate it, embedding themselves in your armor.

It's sinking. The surface of the lake parts beneath it, swallowing it piece by piece. It squirms frantically, still firing. Your armor's almost gone. Your skin is cut and bleeding, your icy arm nearly gone.

It's screaming, clawing at your mind, trying to break free. Its hatred washes over you like a wave, weakening your resolve. But you continue. It sinks deeper and deeper, its body maimed, dispersing into the icy water.

With one last burst of will, it renews its attack, blasting you with thousands of tiny needles. The earth rises before you, forming a shield of dirt that turns quickly to mud. The elemental disappears beneath the lake just as the shield fails, and you collapse, exhausted and in an incredible amount of pain.
