    Because Sunday got cancelled.

IF A DOM HAS A GUN, DOES THAT MEAN THAT IT'S A GUN-DOM?

You are David Lister, Ace Mobile Suit pilot for the Principality of Zeon. You and you merry band of misfits, rookies and newtypes make up the MS compliment of the Elite Independant Crops: The Nachtmaren Unit.

Yesterday you mounted an invasion attempt on Jaburo, and whilst you failed to take the base, you DID manage to take out large swathes of the Federations Space Ship building capacity, as well as damaging the bases Geothermal powerplant.

You also discovered proof that the enemy have designed Mobile Suits.

In our last episode you had just managed to escape from Jaburo, and land in Costa Rica.
However your assault stirred up a hornets nest and the Federation sent its forces in Panama upwards into Central America. You and your wounded forces escaped Costa Rica and landed in the small Mexican town of Salina Cruz, where you set up a defensive strategy whilst the engineers worked on fixing the Gaws.

The earliest you expect enemy forces is at 9am.

The 8 Gaws won't be repaired until 4pm in the evening though.

If I recall last week the following defence plan was this:

Dopps on Anti-Air, Zaku's on the frontline behind tank chassis blockades, supported by a rapid response unit consisting of 4 Gouf Customs and a long range support unit (2 Zaku Canons, Jolynes Dom Cannon and Hovis in the Rhinoceros.)

You and Elaine are in the Doms as a perimeter patrol/outflanking force.

Note that Mexico is a pretty big country there is a chance that the enemy may just pass you by.

    What? it could happen!

Any way, your on perimeter patrol when you spot an enemy APC in the NE plains, you don't see any other enemy forces.

You think it has spotted you.

Minovsky Density throughout all of Central America has been high ever since some idiot detonated a giant Minovsky Particle Emmitter at Panama. Percentage is currently at 55%, which is enough to degrade his radio to about 700 meters. He'll have to RTB to get the message across.

You tell Elaine to continue her sweep whilst you pursue the APC. The vehicle pops smoke to try and evade you and sweep in after it.

You open up with the Beam Spray to try and clear the smoke, maybe get a lucky hit on the vehicle. It doesn't do much to clear the area, but it helps a little.
You fire ahead of you with the Bazooka, the explosion helps clear the smoke a little better and you can see the Hovertank APC moving ahead in an erratic fashion.

It looks like your attacks miss, but the blast slowed him down a little. You continue to pursue over a ridge, where 150mm shells whizz around you. A couple manage to hit, but your Dom's heavy armour takes it. You see a group of 4 Enemy Tanks hidden below the ridge. The APC is continuing to flee, and is faster than the tanks.

    YOUR ORDERS?

You open up a signal to Elaine about the enemy tanks whilst you fire a shot at them. The blast takes out two and sends another flying into the air.
The signal is breaking up, but you think you hear an affirmative, you then continue to pursue the APC.

The APC jinks from side to avoid your fire, but eventually you are able tag it with a rocket from your 330mm, sending it flipping into the air, whereupon it lands on its side and explodes.

You inspect the wreckage, there don't appear to be any suvivors, the vehicle appeared to be travelling to somewhere over the next ridge.

You peer over the Ridge with a finger mounted camera. You see what appears to be two companies of Tanks surrounding a familiar if unwelcome sight.

A Morlock class Subterranean Heavy Transport.

You think you see a stencilled in symbol of 01.
Furthermore, nobody appears to have spotted you and if Elaine has finished off those Tanks then they should have NO idea that you're here.

    Don't.

We can't leave, since there is a collection of wreckage and debris from our escapades. Even if we clear that there are recent scorchmarks from explosions on the ground and nearby area, let alone the likelyhood they heard 330MM shells exploding.

Realistically, we can't avoid them knowing something is up with their forward scouts for long at all.

So we HAVE to attack now, or otherwise reveal ourself, lest we lose the chance to control their intel.

Made quick plan so how we should do this if we do it.

    Murlock Assault plan:

Step 1: Go for the Hangar/Loading bay and disable to doors, Make sure they can´t launch anything.

Step 2: Go for any Antenas or exposed comunication equipment, Stop them from calling reinforcements.

Step 3: Go for the threads, Stop it from moving.

Step 4: Temporary retreat, We should have disabled it from fleeing before the battle ends, And By this time there might arrive some reinforcements for it.

Any manned cannons would have to be disable as we go forth.

You ask Calvin about Seismic monitors and he says that they put up an ad-hoc passive seismic sonar network up the moment they heard the Morlock was in the area. Nothings been triggered thus far, but it was adhoc, so you might not get all that much notice.

About an hour later however the other shoe you were waiting for drops. Calvin picks up an incoming column of enemy armour heading towards the town. It looks like Tanks supported by a single Big Tray class Battleship. No sign of enemy mobile suits, but a couple of those Hovertanks are present. You can't really see numbers just yet, they're too far away.
They haven't spotted your forces, but they will soon.

    Everyone scrambles to their posts.

Us and Elaine will use our MASSIVE SPEED to zip to the Big Tray and take it out before it can get a firing solution.

Keeping to the plan, you and Elaine travel east to the hilly region, where you wait for the right time to strike.

As the enemy get close you get a better look at their numbers. It looks like 3 Companies of Tanks supported by Hover-Tanks and a Big Tray. No sign of air units.

Their formations are loose, to reduce artillery damage, but large explosive plumes begin to fall around them as the artillery support teams begin shelling the enemy. You see rockets catch five tanks in a barrage, leaving them nothing but wreckage - that'll be Hovis in his Rhinoceros.
The tanks increase speed in order to make artillery spotting more difficult.
As they get closer to the town, the Zaku squads reveal themselves and open fire on the Tanks. The front outriders are mostly destroyed and the rest begin to scatter into the ruins to their right.
The Big Tray, now with reduced escort begins to accellerate towards the blockade line.

It looks like now's the time for your move.

Once we (Zeon as a whole) runs into Amuro and his Gundam, I actually suggest we start retooling zakus to look like this, at least a few of them.

That way, if we ever run into Amuro, we can field a couple of those to make picking firing targets more difficult for the feddies, so that the Gundam will have less supporting fire.

You and Elaine emerge from your ambush spot and dart towards the enemy battleship.
It fails to spot you as it charges the friendly blockade line, the Zaku's 120mm shells bouncing off the heavy frontal armour ineffectively.

"Remember! First Rocket goes into the bridge, second into the hovecraft skirts, then concentrate on the turrets."

    "Yes sir!" Elaine replies

"Use your speed to make you a hard target, don't get careless and get tagged by those cannons, even our armour can't take hits from guns of those calibre!"

You dash in and open fire. Both of your shots are on target and they impact on the ships bridge. The area is obscured in fire and smoke. You split right and Elaine jinks left as you both send your second shots into the hovercraft skirting. There's a pronoucned 'WHOOSH' of escaping area as the air cells are ruptured in two places, and the Big Tray begins to list to the side. The two of you then begin to concentrate on the guns which are firing erratically and inaccurately.
Eventually after you and the Zaku's pour enough fire into it, its burning wreck stops moving

The tanks that were escorting the Battleship are either currently in the ruins or destroyed.

Although all things considered, excessive use of high calibre explosive munitions inside a distinctly adhoc tunnel which was not left with the intent of being permanant? Perhaps not such a smart plan.

You spend about 30 minutes travelling through the tunnels, the hovor thrusters make travelling fast work. You eventually reache the rear end of the Battleship. You see rear facing point defence guns swivel to face you and begin firing at you.

They only look like 100mm shells, enough hits could cause you damage, but one or two probably wont take you out.
That said, you aren't sure how armoured those bombs you're carrying are.

You bring your Bazooka to bear and fire at the nearest gun. Unsupported, the Bazooka bucks in your hand and the shot goes wild, impacting on the ceiling causing rocks to fall onto the gun. It stops firing but you can't tell if it's permanently out of action. Elaine and Jolyne follow suit, their gunfire is a bit more accurate and doesn't manage to take down the tunnel.

As for the problem at hand dump weapons if it will increase our speed in a substantive manner. If not, fire our 'zook behind us into the ceiling. The firing should move us forward, and the ensuing rockfall could ablate a bit/some/all of the blast depending on our luck. About an hour in, Anita contacts you with a priority message from command, she patches you in with Garma.

"Lieutenant, good work on safeguarding friendly forces. You're skills are now needed on the Mexican defence line. You're needed to travel to the Zeonic Southern US Ops center in Arizona. Once again, good work in Jaburo, the rest of command be classing the operation as a marginal failure, but I think we've dealt a great blow to the Federation, and one way or another, I think this deadlock is about to break."

If im guessing the pacing right Episode 48 or 50 would be around the time Garma dies in canon, And if he dies we will have already lost, And if he survives we should manage to launch peace talks pretty quickly afterwards.

Then after it would probably be "ZeonQuest: Apocalypse" or something, Complete with episode countreset, Like with the IGLOO OVAs.

Oh, and I think I remember last week you mentioned something about a Zeonquest sequel involving Ruubens and the rest of us as crotchety old folk who still kick ass in our outdated suits. Is that a real possibility? Because I'd pay to see that. If I had any money, that is.

IIRC the possible sequels Apologized said might happen are.

    DelazQuest(0083)
    AEUGquest(Zeta and ZZ)
    CrossboneQuest(Crossbone)

The one with old people are Crossbone, Since the main character in crossbone is Tobia Arronax, whos last name shoudl sound familliar.

I would like a F91-quest, but i guess that would be included as Miniquest/Flashback in Crossbone.

    Not REALLY no.

There ARE quest threads I might be tempted to do after this, but not really for a while.

    Currently the list includes:
AUEGquest - Assuming AEUG even has a reason to exist after Zeonquest.
FEDDIEQUEST - Playing the other side.
SpyQUEST - Vodka Martini's, Villanous Organisations named after sinister acronyms, silenced hanguns, suits and terribly one liners.
BugboyQuest: Go read the Marines Handbook for Aliens, trust me, references are in there, and I have some pretty sweet ideas for this one.
SpaceEmpiresQuest - Rhinehard or die trying.

    That's pretty much it.

    Bug-Boyquest

    OMAKE.

An explosion, the sound of water, lights.

    "I'm getting fresh air here!"

"We'll start moving out the wounded. It doesn't look like there's been any recent collapses either."

    More lights, more sound.

"Are any of these caves on the maps?"

"No, I've got people checking the caves for exits, maybe we can find a way out from here."

"I thought you said the cave network was mostly underwater?"

"It was, but that was before the Colony Drop, maybe, maybe they drained out a little bit somewhere? Maybe there's a tunnel leading up to the surface somewhere around here?"

"Hey, I've got an idea, I could strip a sonar rig from one of the command hovertanks, maybe we could use that?"

    Time passes.

"So, we've definately got nowhere out that's dry?"

"Sorry, the Morlock comes with limited oxygen gear we might be able to SCUBA with, but that doesn't help us with the wounded. Even then were looking at a two hour journey through pitch darkness in hazardous terrain before we reach the lake. I don't see how we can do it."

"How much oxygen do we have left?"

"Enough, luckily the blost didn't touch the Oxygen tanks, or we'd have all gone."

    A pause.

"Wait, don't we have all the spare pressure seal walls down in cargo bay 4?"

    "Yeah."

"Well, cant we use those to make, a diving bell of some kind?"

    "A what?"

"No, he might be onto something, most of these tunnels are pretty wide and deep, I'd have to check the sonar map, set up some spare air-tanks and an airline all the way back to the Morlock. This might work!"

"All right! Next stop Lake Chalco!"

Oh, I thought the were going to turn the Morlock into a diving bell by just shifting around the air and whatnot, thus keeping it intact. If they have to scrap it for parts and abandon it, that's okay.
