The light of morning streaming in through uncovered windows awakens you from your dreamless slumber in your room in the Hall Mansion. You still are dressed in all your trappings from the day before, and feel rather encumbered and disheveled in the heavy clothing. Not to mention uncomfortably hot.

You sit up on the rather comfortable bed and wince as your stomach grumbles with hunger. The needs of the body are ever so annoying, yet necessary. You wonder what you should do with your day as you stare at the closed wooden door to your room. You remember the Butler James, the maid Camille, the cook Bernard, and the master of the household Mr. Drake with varying degrees of annoyance as you extricate yourself from your thick wool overcoat. You aren't going to turn your nose up at a free gift, but you wonder if these people are worth all the hassle. Might as well get a free breakfast out of them if you can, anyway.

You leave your weapons in your room and clomp noisily downstairs in your boots to the kitchen, where Bernard waves at you sheepishly while preparing something that smells rather good. A glance at a nearby clock indicates that it is 9 in the morning. A bit late in the day if you must say so yourself. "Hungry? Take a seat in the Dining Hall while I finish up here please. The Master should already be waiting."

As you enter the rather lavishly decorated room you spot Mr. Drake at the head of the table at the far end of the room with his Butler James close at hand. He seems to be dressed in rather clean clothes this time, and any liquor is nowhere to be seen. He has raised a cup of what you take to be coffee to his lips when he notices you, and gestures you to take a seat close to him with his left hand.

You move forward to take the offered seat, and James quickly moves to settle you into your chair. You thank him as he backs away rather quickly to give you some room. After a short interlude punctuated only by the occasional slurping sound from Drake, Bernard arrives with two omelets and some toast. Not as fancy as you were expecting, but still good. With a grunt of appreciation, Drake begins to dig into the plate in front of him as Bernard sets a plate in front of you. You distant sound of crunching moving around somewhere outside your room, and Bernard hurriedly retreats to the safety of his kitchen.

As for the nature of my business, I'm sure you'll find it rather dull. I'm an investor mainly, with New Dunsworth as my prime arena. I put in the capital for it to flourish and grown, and it sustains me in turn."

You find out that Camille's room is actually across from yours (both are on the left side of the stairwell). Drake's room is immediately to the right of the stairwell with James' right next to it. Bernard is farther down on the right, two rooms away from James.

The cleaning goes smoothly as you decide not to snoop around and soon you are putting your winter coat back on in preparation for your next task. You make sure your hunting knife is in place when Camille shows up at your room in a pure white winter outfit. She tosses you a long object wrapped in a white sheet, and smiles. "Lets get going! I haven't done this in a while, its going to be great!"

You wait at the top of the steps until you hear an engine approaching rather loudly and Camille appears at the bottom of the stairs with a rather nice looking Jeep. She honks the horn at you and waves. You hop into the passenger's seat as she hits the gas and tears over the frozen lake.

"So, um. Where do we start?"

The jeep lurches precariously as you hop onto solid ground and Camille silences the engine. You can no longer see the mansion with all the snow around as Camille grabs her rifle and hops out of the vehicle.

You nod and head deeper into the forest until Camille places a hand on your shoulder.
"Lets set up a blind here. I'll show you how to sight your weapon."
She pulls out the white sheets that were used to wrap the two rifles and stamps down the snow to form a thick crust. She encourages you to lie down on the snow and covers you with a white sheet. She does the same, and instructs you on the finer points of sight adjustment.

And then you wait.

Their clothes are rather ragged, and you notice in front of the soldiers is a rather tall Blond woman in a black military uniform. The scope is so accurate that you can see the faint red double-headed eagle insignia on her cap.

You remain watching and hear nothing but slow and steady breathing from Camille. The Blond woman pauses and raises a fist to the soldiers, who stop and halt their charges. They quickly line up the ragged prisoners and force them to kneel. You can count 20 in all, blindfolded and restrained. It must have been a hassle bringing them all out to the middle of nowhere.

"Who are they? What's going on?" you whisper to Camille. She responds in a very low tone, trying to not to shake her sight.
"Seems to be an Enforcer and a few of their soldiers. As for the prisoners, most likely dissidents."

Camille nods as the both of you stare through your scopes at the group. Eventually the Blond finishes talking and puts a hand up. The soldiers stiffen and line up behind their charges, pulling out pistols. At the drop of her hand they begin to march down the line, putting one or two shots into the bound captives. All too soon the bloody work is finished and the soldiers begin to return the way they came, leaving the bodies where they lie. The Blond starts to follow them and pauses for a moment, looking towards your direction. She wavers, seemingly peering into the trees before following the troops.

You remain still until Camille is certain they are gone, and then carefully dismantle the blind.

The alternative was more than likely "evil prevails again while we die fighting". One should not enter a state of rebellion against a standing government without a hell of a lot more plans than we have.

Before fighting the standing government, we need weaponry, allies, safehouses, survival gear, targets which will actually hurt them when brought down, and a dozen other things. It would have been noble to shoot, but ultimately foolish.

Besides, we don't know much at all about Camille. Her apparent willingness to fire on the squad makes her a potential ally, but beyond that we're clueless. And the fact that she let us make the call might mean that she was merely testing us rather than actually willing to shoot them.

You exhale deeply and take the time to stretch, enjoying being able to stand up again. Camille sits up and wraps her rifle back up in its cloth before turning to you. "Come on, lets head back to the Jeep and change spots. We won't find any game around here today."

You approach the bodies quietly and begin to search them as Camille looks on silently. After a few minutes of rifling through the bodies you can find no identification of any sort on them. Several of the male bodies do have tattooed numbers on their right hand though, but not all of the bodies do.

Getting up from your search you follow her back to the jeep and the both of you drive in silence before reaching your next destination. Camille hops out and builds another blind, helping you fine tune your sights. After waiting a short while a fine buck and doe come in range of your blind. Camille gives the signal and you bring down the doe with a body shot. It goes wide of its intended mark, but its still a hit anyway. You'll need more practice to be effective with this weapon, but at least you have an idea of how to use it.

Camille brings down the buck with a fine headshot, and is about to break the blind when a large wolf appears and begins to approach your kill.

You fire off a shot in the air and it moves away quickly, more spooked now than intrigued. The two of you wait to see if it returns, but after a few minutes Camille gets up and moves towards the kills. "Come on, lets get that meat out of here before its too late. You know how to gut and clean one of these on the spot, right?"
You nod and shortly the two of you are arm deep in guts and organs. The warm steaming flesh melts the snow and gets on your coat, but you pay it no heed as you start to haul your rather heavy kill back to the jeep. Camille follows close behind and with some effort the two of you strap your buck and doe to the roof of the Jeep and drive back to the Mansion.

Bernard comes out to take the deer straight into the kitchen as you head inside with dried blood on your coat. After what you've seen today you don't know what to feel - only that you want to take a shower badly. Camille takes your bloody overcoat and points you to the bathroom upstairs, where you let the water run for a good long while.

INTERMISSION:

Tasha tied her blond hair back and looked in the mirror, her black gloves lying on the edge of the stainless steel sink. The hot water ran until the mirror began to fog up, until she could no longer see her face. It was better that way.

She followed orders - that was all. But she still couldn't shake that intense urge to kill she had felt in the forest. It continued even after she had eradicated the mixed group of prisoners and insurgents... and she had been so sure it was from them. It wasn't from the group of soldiers either - they usually emit fear. It was... unnerving.

The faucet continued to fog up the glass, obscuring her face. And that was alright. She didn't want to see what she looked like anyway.

On the other side of the planet, quite far away from the city of New Dunsworth, Veronica adjusted her cap, straightened, and saluted. She was a Captain in the Russian Army, as well as an aide to the Grizzly of the North. And if there was one thing he didn't tolerate, it was disorganization on part of his troops.

She didn't have to long to wait, as the Grizzly exited the joint briefing right on time. Lateness was a sin to him as well. But by now she was well molded into his patterns and fell into step beside him has he strode into the bitter winter.

Infantry, Aircraft are great but you take out their base and your done for. Armor would be nice but you can't take armor into caves

Naval force are a good idea if there are carrier groups that you could deploy or submarines with missile launch ability, also those subs can sink a crap ton of merchants headed into the area.

So take a small contingent of airpower and armor, A large amount of infantry, Medium amount of navel forces.

Infantry with UAV support, naval artillery support, and light mechanization to keep mobility up.

Will the navy even be able to reach us all the way out there? Might be better to take some mobile artillery if you think we'll need the punch.

If we're looking at mountain warfare, definitely emphasize infantry and aircraft; at least some airmobile infantry would be preferred. Armor will be far less useful than one might hope in that sort of terrain. Some artillery, based either on land or sea, will be needed for support, of course.

Since we're trying it relieve Israel, go in airborn from near their defense line. At the same time, our navy breaks the Iranian blockade near the Israeli defense line. This way we push the Iranians back away from Israel.

Veronica straightened and swallowed nervously. "Sir! I suggest we change our battle plan to airdrop our forces directly into Israel while smashing the Iranian Naval Blockade with our Fleet! From there we can push out through the Israeli defense line and rout the enemy directly!" She made sure to be the first one out of the plane, leaping without fear to show her troops that their leader - though a woman - would not put them through anything she would not do herself. And they trusted her utterly for it. And jumped after her, their cries lost on the wind.

To the West, the Navy steamed towards the Blockade, preparing to split it into pieces and provide artillery support. To the East lay the enemy forces in wait. And below... below waited the Jackal. One of the keys. She would not fail.
