Initially the Systems Alliance felt that they could easily take advantage of a major slip up by the Galactic Council, the Transhumans didn't need a "Garden" world to prosper,because when you have the technology to create bodies able to live in the surface of the Sun, making a body able to withstand multiple corrosive agents, breathe the poisonous atmosphere or survive in a heavily irradiated area was pretty much small time.
What they didn't counted however was the Council being smarter than they seemed by being given a sector of space that was already almost wiped clean of of Element Zero or "Eezo" as it was popularly known.
Transhumanity vouched for a better territory around the Skyllian verge, that area however was declared by the council of 'Batarian Interest' and that the current area designed for them was 'for their own protection', additionally a part of the Turian Fleet was to stay permanently stationed by the Mass Relays leading to the TEZ in order to guard Transhumanity from any intruding 'pirates'.
This hindered of the Systems Alliance expansion into disarray and it was almost disbanded in a political struggle if not for the discovery that the Pandora Gates sometimes led to places inside the Galaxy.

The Teams sent to scout (those that managed to return) brought with themselves unfavorable news, most of the planets where wiped clean of resources and infested with nanomachines, none led to a Mass Relay, to whatever reason the TITANS didn't wanted to be followed through conventional means, this could indicate they already know something the rest of the Galaxy seems to ignore.
With only the Sol System and whatever they could scrap from the worlds inside the TEZ to provide Eezo for the Systems Alliance it was not enough to power a sizable fleet of Dreadnaught-like ships or vaster amounts of Cruisers to compensate.
It was there that Transhumanity way of thinking outside the box really shined through.
Greater efforts where made to find a way to reverse engineer the Pandora Gates. It was already planned that should the TITANS ever return and if Transhumanity was in danger of extinction , that a large scale Evacuation to another Galaxy was most likely to be needed.
While these Gates where Extremely Unstable in the best conditions possible and the technology involved was still mindbogglingly difficult to grasp, large investments where made into understanding more properly how they worked in the hopes of having a Viable alternative to the Mass Relays.

Little Eezo available also meant little in the way of Kinetic Barriers and Mass Driver weaponry,so a large push for better and more effective weapons was expected, while standard explosive and concussive weapons proved effective in battle, the development of more powerful and varied directed energy weapons became the norm. One of those weapons was the "Tesla" Arch-gun with a design based on 21th century technology Electrolaser, ionizes targets with a non-visible laser to ready them for a high-voltage electrical attack.
While it was not possible to create larger ships without paying a large cost, Transhumanity opted to engage the problems in another light
One of those Ideas was the Carriers that the Alliance started to build.

With the Eezo requirements of a single Dreadnought at least 3 or 4 Carriers where possible to build, designed to use overwhelming strikes against an enemy fleet with the intention of passing through ships defenses by Brute Force. With Interceptors, Bombers and Attack fighters a single Carrier was able to deploy hundreds of ships, while usually a standard Council Dreadnought only carried a couple dozens of interceptors.
There was also great potential for dedicated cyber-warfare platforms, using a specially built hulls designed to absorb energy emissions from the ship the Alliance developed a Frigate sized Stealth ship that could infiltrate behind enemy lines undetected for several hours while decoding/disrupting or if possible hacking enemy systems. The ship was entirely dedicated to its task and was crewed by top of the line specialized Infomorphs. These ships where more often used extensively by Firewall in order to maintain a vigilant eye on Transhumanity itself, effectively detecting and neutralizing the Jovian "Manifest Destiny" a plan to sabotage the production at the Arcturus station and try to engage a xenophobic crusade at the universe at large. This, of course, was dealt as quietly as possible.

But not everyone advocated that war was an inevitable result. Some groups inside the Alliance decided that it was best to seek cooperation among the species, one such was the Sirta Foundation that became known in the Galaxy for the invention of one the most revolutionaries implements in Medical technology. The Medigel this device was based on biological engineering of amoebas and mixed in a compound that included a mix of anesthetics and antibiotics. these could seal a wound and regenerate the affected tissue in seconds, this an Item too good to pass up.
Other advances however where thoroughly rejected by the Council, from Medichines that could replace the anyone's Immune System (because it was based on forbidden Nanotechnology) and a cure from the Krogan Genophage, which was immediately dismissed.
In light of these technologies Krogan Mercenaries and Quarians are still trying to break through the Turian Blockade towards the TEZ, with no success.
While the Sirta Foundation interests where in a good place, this was viewed as an attempt to disrupt the current balance of power inside the Citadel Races, Medigel itself wasn't actually accepted until the appointed researcher in charge of the demonstration ordered his guards to shoot him and displayed during the Council meeting the miraculous properties of the Medigel while it was used to save his body.

On the Galactic Council side of the Galaxy they decided it was time to start a more defensive stand and to build up for the worst.

In dire need of allies that where able to fight the Galactic Council decided to increase the status of the Batarians, first with greater concessions of Territories apt for colonization to allow them to grow until they where ready to join the Citadel Council.

Then the council decide to proceed their plan of "Uplifting" the Batarians and nominated the First Batarian Specter the Commander Xepard, it was clear for the 'lesser' races that a seat in the Council was soon to follow. This particularly placed a negative impression on some of the Citadel Races, as the Batarians where still considered uncivilized by most standards. With Piracy, Slavery and Drug running being considered a profitable legitimate business.

The Turians never truly seemed to recover from the losses during the Relay 314 incident, at least on the Psychological level. Testimonies from POW's and unclassified documents and general gossip soon blew up out of proportion, on the span of days the general thought was that Transhumanity was essentially a race of Eldritch murderous machines that had completely wiped out their creators and where looking to cooperate with the Geth in order to destroy all sentient biological beings of the galaxy.

The Turian vid bussiness made a killing with war movies that portrayed the Transhumans in the worst light possible, the most "accurate" vid narrated how a Turian patrol heroically stopped an Invasion fleet from activating the Relay and deploy their forces on the Citadel dying heroically in a last stand that gave the opportunity for the Turian Fleet to arrive.

Some couldn't decide who to despise more, Transhumanity for meddling in the Galactic affairs with their mere presence, The Council for acting cowardly at the prospect of not being the governing power of the Galaxy, or the Batarians for winning so many "unearned" favorable positions.

The Krogans where unstable, in every mercenary's mind there wasn't a single day that the thought of attempting to cross the TEZ blockade and retrieving the Genophage cure wasn't present. It was clear that whoever did it was going to be considered a Legend among the Krogans.
Every day they grow more inventive attempting to bypass the Turian Fleet. in many cases it ends in casualties for the Krogans.

The Quarians are a special case, in one way they could greatly improve their lives with a solution for their immune system alone, yet there was enough fear present in order to avoid contact. Technically most of transhumanity could be viewed as AI's that could swap bodies.

Aaaand I'm done, I'm sleepy, I'm tired and I wrote (rather slammed the keyboards until something semi-coherent showed up)
