That's a Medea Military Transport plane, in Gihren's Greed they form the cornerstone of Federation strategy as they allow you to transport troops and material across rough terrain whereas the early Zeonic forces have to hoof it until the Fat Uncle comes available. On the other hand, Federation forces never really make an equivalent to the Gaw, they instead put all their eggs into one basket by fielding expensive Pegasus class carriers with large hangar bays.

Canonically it pays off.

Hi, namefag from /m/ here. Just got a random question for Apologised:

As you probably know, I'm running my own Quest thread on /m/, based on Super Robot Wars, and we're just about to move worlds, to one where the cast will probably meets gundams and the like.

My question is: Do you have moral objections to me using alternate-universe versions of the Natchmaren, should the plot end up meeting Zeonic forces?

(I'd make a counter-offer to let you use my characters, but I REALLY don't think you want Shadow Mirror Katina Tarask anywhere near your Quest.)

Though do remember: Our aim should be to mission kill the Trojan Horse and get them to surrender. No capture, no destruction just shooting them hard enough to ground them. Then isolate them in a cloud of Minovsky Particles to prevent them from calling for help.
They're overburdened with civilians, light on supplies and only have a few pilots and machines at hand. Our best bet is grounding them and sitting it out until they surrender.

It would maybe also be nice to get Aina and her experimental Mega particle cannon. That thing should work wonders on the Trojan Horse.

Keep in mind that whilst the Efreet can dual wield just about everything apart from the 330mm Zook, accuracy suffers with the heavier stuff, and dual Bazooka's or the 330mm require you to be stationary and find stable footing before firing.

Well, then get Ghinias over here...if he's still alive. The Apsulus is ways more maneuverable than a Gaw. combined with our Flipper and the infantry we can probably use it to take pot shots at the White Base from afar.

Verily. The Gouf doesn't have to get into CC to be effective, right? It's very fast and agile, so giving it a normal bazooka or MG would let it run around and avoid taking hits while still maintaining distance, and it has the Heat Rod in case CC is unavoidable.

The Zock is also slow as all hell on land, so it'd get ripped to shreds by return fire that comes at it roughly twice as fast as it can fire back. Plus, at range, the Gundam can dodge quite easily.

This battle also debuts Guncannon and Guntank, which vastly outperform any support or artillery models we have. Better to have something that can reliably engage them outside their sphere of influence, since Gundam can't cover for them both at the same time.

This is a good point I completely forgot about (somehow). Even if they're lightyears away from the gundam power wise, they're still dangerous and probably better than the MS's we still have on earth.

I seriously doubt any of Nachtmaren would think taking the Zock into a desert battle is a good idea in the first place.

Remember, the White Base, Amuro etc have a thick helping of plot armour. Going for the kill and risking troops to such plans is pretty pointless.
Capturing or damaging MS and the White Base should be possible though. Amuro would just show up a few weeks later in a new Gundam, with less experience and maybe a few more Zeon aces alive than in canon.

Also you got to think of how awesome the rino is

maybe the cannon doesn't have the punch compared to particle cannons, but it still has one hell of a punch, the 300m zook was enough to blow the ass off white base, this thing will be fine, but fire more offten and have guns to cover us from the fighters and other suits

Zock is a no go in my book, to few shots and no defence if anything closes, plus leaves the rest of us open to counter attack from fighters

Rino is definetly staying, and Efreet is best for ramerez (all rounder guy gets all rounder suit that is similer to the one he trained on)

the only question is do we want Jol to have her artilery zaku, gouf, or something else. The Juagg seems like a good idea, but it can't reload so i say no to that too

Your forces are slower than his, it's likely that it will take some time to catch up. The journey takes a couple of hours, and you are finally able to reach him over middle america.
In the distance you make out a large White Vessel, possibly the enemy. Garma's Gaw forces are shadowing it at a safe distance.

You acknowledge his orders and a few seconds later, the Gaw begins to launch it's Dopp fighters and begins to assault the enemy ship in waves.

In canon, he used a dopp in this fight, and that's part of why he died. Luckily, I remember awhile back when we were his honour guard apologized said he'd be more likely to use a zaku here since we trained him in it.

Here's hoping he does, it'll boost his chances of not dying, and against the gundam every bit helps.

Support the Dopps and keep at range, also see if we can get above and behind the White Base to target their engines.

Garma watched alongside Char Aznable as the first wave began to assault the enemy ship. Flak fire erupts around it, but the heavy weight of planes is too much to be deterred, and small explosions from the Dopps missiles begin to wrack the gun turrets.

As planned the enemy vessel begins to to drop through cloud cover to the earth.

Garma watches carefully, as he thinks back to his early conversation with Char...

Although the enemy MA and the Ship keep firing it looks like the weight of your fire is going to win the day, you see the enemy MA retreat back into the Carrier.

Shortly later however, the ship relaunches the MA along with a Mobile Suit that looks dangerously similar to the one you encountered in Jaburo.

At which point Garma launches his Honour Guard of two MS-06F2 Zaku's, and himself.

Overall the first ground assault against the Trojan Horse ended in failure, but from this some good did come out of all this.

Hovis and his shelling of White Base did some telling damage. You don't believe that the engines are capable of leaving earths atmosphere anymore, or supporting flight above a certain heigh ceiling. Although to be frank you're unsure how the thing can fly at all.

Shouldn't a squadron of Gaws beam cannons be able to do a number on the white base if we use some tactics to keep the Gundam pinned (and preferably destroy its beam saber). A Gaw pincer attack on the flanks/rear of the White base should prevent it from firing back with its own mega particle cannons effectively.

Tactics + Quantity = Downed White Base. Just be sure to leave an opening so they can abandon it and retreat. Don't want them fighting to the death and killing more Zeon forces if we can avoid it.

For those of you interested, the Federation got around the problem of the massive energy requirement for creating a Beam blast from raw plasma by creating the shots beforehand, catching them in minovsky particle bottles which are kept contained and stored in a Beam Rifles magazine.

Effectively this makes it "Beam Bullets".

When the weapon is fired, the plasma within one of these minovsky cages is extended along a very thin line of accellerated minovsky particles to the target.

Dammit guys the Desert Zaku was one of the ones converted to F2's.

Before we deployed to Arizona Zols F type was converted to the desert one and David was using the Gouf. We picked up Elaine who then used Davids J type. When we were transfered to Garma's command all of our Zaku's were then upgraded to F2's and THEN modified to add desert Zaku's head vulcans.

We have 2 modified MS-06 FII with head vulcans, one of which is El Muerto Grande.

The problem was never the gundam, the problem was zeon sending all of its suits and aces against it, getting them destroied/killed and fighting the rest of the war with greens in zaku 2s, each one outmached by its GM counterpart
