    (Yeah, posted this a couple times before. Forgot my tripcode just before and the other day it didn't get a reply. Third time is lucky!)

    Warboss Toofsum 'Ardarse Bakkhakker has had an almost meteoric rise to power. Within hours of climbing out of the muck, he showed a particularlu foolish bloodthirst that could mean only one of two things for an Ork - an extremely short lifespan, or utter greatness. So far it seems that he is heading for the latter, as that early attempt at toof-theft somehow landed him a sidekick and, mere hours later, the beginnings of a mob. Mere weeks later, he has an established base of operations stolen from the Imperium and a Waaagh! made up of the hundreds of Goffs leftover after an attempted evacuation ordered by cowardly Nobz.
    There was much difficulty in continuing his campaign, however. Extreme dust storms had hindered all attempts at travelling to a fight, or even sending out scouting parties. It's possible that these storms also prevented the discovery of the outpost and subsequent destruction, but the Warboss was nevertheless enraged by the delays to his plans of conquest.
    It was only yesterday that the storms finally started to abate, and he wasted no time in mobilizing a great convoy to head out in search of a much-desired scrap.
    Grotlikka, however, had another plan.

    You were one of the boyz present at the first battle with the Burny Nunz. Despite a proper Orky effort on your part it was ultimately the surprise arrival of the Warboss and his heavily-armed warbuggy that saved you and many others from a promethium bath. Since then, you have fought by his side and have grown into a mean, skarred up looking git. Grotlikka has decided that searching for a fight in one place at a time is not good enough for the Boss, and has ordered you to head far south in search for the the main 'umie camp.
    The majority of Bakkhakker's forces are with him or left to watch over the outpost. However, it has been arranged for you to get a mob of four sneaky gitz to whip into a dead killy kommando mob. You have also been given access to some of the Mek's nicest equipment, and a wartrukk to travel in.

    You enter your truck and let one of the assashuns drive. South is the general direction that the humans are known to be in, but it seems that none of your boyz have much of a talent for navigation. You are lost, and in a foul smelling area dotted with lakes of chemical sludge.

    There appear to be no signs of humans, but there are loud squelching and popping noises from some pools. Your boyz don't seem keen to get exposed to the gunk.

    [Yeah, Bakkhakker will continue to be the main protagonist. The idea of switching to a secondary character is to allow a bit of a break from the base managing and massive battles.]

    You smack your driva and tell him to carry on driving, but dead quiet like. He complies, somehow managing to prevent the roar of the wartrukk engine from being too thunderous. His eyes keep focused on the marsh-like terrain, trying to keep the wheels out of the corrosive goo.

    It takes almost an hour to leave the wetlands - it turned out to be more of a sea of sludge than a swamp. You still haven't found anything yet. In the distance though, there appears to be a dark, looming structure - difficult to identify through the nasty atmosphere.

    The trukk lurches on in fits and spurts, the driver alternating between experimental bursts of speed and slow crawls as he gets used to the art of driving sneakily - not something that the mekboyz of the Goff camp have generally engineered the vehicles for.

    You seem to have covered a large distance but the structure barely seems any closer. Considerably larger, but still far off in the distance. The only change in scenery seems to be the occasional burnt out hulk or open pipe slowly dripping yellow or green. There are a few hovels constructed out of scrap, but no inhabitants.

    You reach for the talkie machine that Grotlikka gave you and snarl down it that you've found somefin' suspicious lookin' like a big 'umie base. A little while later, the tiny squeak of a gretchin replies.

    "Oh...errr....right! Grotlikka's a little busy right now but....errr...he says go checkit owt! Over an' out!"

    The radio stays silent. You tell your driver to continue to advance and soon it's structure is far more visible. The spire visible before seems to only be a tiny part of the base - rising high beyond the smog and dust could possibly let you see. What you can see seems to be of gargantuan proportions - a dark grey color, easily miles across and with many, many smaller towers jutting up from it.

    The landscape changes quickly in the final approach. Pipes that were occasionally jutting from the ground further back are now laid in direct routes to the monolithic hive ahead, large enough for the waste of untold millions to flood through. Cables coil and sprawl and the ground that was mud a mile ago has turned mettallic.

    The first signs of life also appear.

    Airborne transports whir far overhead but do not seem to notice your approach. On ground level the most vile of the humanesque creatures seem to be making a living among the outlying infrastructure of the hive. Most deformed, they scuttle away from the truck and hide under machinery as you drive past. None attack, though their number seems to be increasing rapidly the further you drive towards the city.
    They are very strange humans indeed. Almost ratlike, swarming and chattering, fearful and hungry.

    Realising that a continued approach in the trukk is likely to draw unwanted attention eventually, you krump the driver and roll to a stop near a hovel constructed out of what appear to be animal skins and iron rods.

    You let the mob know the plan, and after rubbing some dirt and squig dye on your faces, stomp out of the vehicle looking like very large, extremely dirty abhumans. Sort of.

    A group of pinkskins - hairy, but still definitely pink - point at your group and say something sounding almost like snotling talk. They seem intimidated, and you definitely hear the word "greenskin", but one of the larger ones shakes their head and they seem to decide otherwise.

    There are many other huddles of abhumans nearby. The sewage and power lines, as well as the towering and incomprehensible machinery, seem to create something like a system of streets and roads. Your disguise does seem to work (against all odds) but with your weaponry out you are still more than a little intimidating and conspicuous. It's possible that you will pass for a ganger to these pinkskins. How do you wish to advance?

    You head towards the hive, but despite the crowds of people chattering away you can't seem to make out anything they say. It's as if they are speaking a different language to normal humans. Your boyz keep quiet, guttural Ork tones sure to give the game away.

    As you approach what appears to be an entrance to something - if not the main have itself - you notice that there is a considerable force guarding it. Normal sized humans, in grey and tan armor and with shields and batons. Some seem to have guns.

    Heavily armed and of towering height, your kommandos will surely get noticed if they try to sneak near the entrance. You could charge in all guns blazing...but reinforcements are likely nearby.

    You nod and gesture towards the the entrance. The burna boy's face lights up and he slips off through the crowd, his weapon tucked under a cape as best as he can manage.

    Your assashun boyz seem to have slipped off somewhere unseen, leaving you and the bommer boy to watch the burna boy's advance.

    The plan seems good in theory, but it seems that your the Ork was a little too twitchy with the trigger. As he approaches the entrance, he lets out a guttural roar and leaps at one of the riot guards, coating the barriers in flame. They are caught by surprise and the apparent leader wastes no time in shouting orders.

    "Fire, fire! Aim for the Ork's blasted head!"

    And they do. The screams of the ablaze guard charged by your boy soon die down, but enthusiasm does not protect him from a hail of stub and las fire. Within moments he is a hole riddled heap on the ground, and guards begin advancing out from their post in search of more intruders.

    "The greenskins are sneaking in! Find them! Damnit, find them!"

    You have time to run, but not much. The bommer-boy is by your side and awaiting direction.

    The bommer boy looks panicky, but you bark your orders as firmly as you can without making it obvious to the humans where the rest of the Orkz are. Thankfully, the abhumans have turned into a chaotic mob of their own - too numerous and scared to coordinate properly, they push and shove each other in order to escape the trained weapons of the guards.

    Your sidekick takes a bunch of stikk-bombs from his belt and begins throwing them wildly. Several explode in distant parts of the crowd, sending burnt fur and pulped flesh high in the air, and coating nearby abhumans with a pink spray.

    The guards open fire on the crowd, apparently not wanting to risk an explosive reaching them, or a stampede of ratpeople. The pair of you duck slightly, using the masses in front of you as a human shield. Their spindly, frail forms cannot withstand the attack however, and soon you without anyone in front of you to cover your retreat. The bommer boy, unable to do much else, reaches for a stikk bomb but is dropped by a stubgun shot to the head, causing the bomb to slide ineffectually a few meters away.

    It takes all the speed you can force out of your cumbersome Orky frame to move back into the crowd for cover before it went off.

    Half of your squad already wiped out, you fall back between stumbles over mangled and dying abhumans. From some of the larger ones you tear cloaks and furs and drape them across your shoulders, doing nothing to nothing to disguise your bulk but at least keeping your low-set head and Orkish features obscured.

    The slaughter continues as you retreat, ratpeople of all sizes being massacred despite their pleas for mercy. It seems that this was just as much an excuse to thin out their numbers as anything else.

    Soon you have turned down one of the "streets" of the outer hive, obscured from the vision of the guards although not safe for long from the patrols that will surely follow. The assashuns still can't be seen, and it will be openly search for them.

    Right we better make the best out of a bad situation. Here is what I think our (n)objectives are:

    1) Find the missing assashuns

    Just to clear some stuff up: Your equipment is rather generic Orky stuff, as you fulfill the role of the normal fighty one in the squad. You have a choppa and a spechul shoota slung around your back - it's essentially an Orky shotgun. You also have a talkie-fing that allows communication with Grotlikka (or whatever grot answers), though your squad members don't have their own (Mekboy oversight, perhaps).

    You could try to talk to some of the humans - as long as you get out of the immediate area it's likely that the ratpeople will refrain from instantly running or attacking - they are just as monstrous as you afterall.

    There's no sign of your boyz but plenty of human law enforcement spilling forth from the hive in search of you. You pull the rags up over your head in a rough hood and hunch over, feigning a shorter stature. You are still clearly huge, but with any luck you could merely be an exceptionally hunch-backed abhuman.

    You head back in search of youe trukk, hoping that your boyz may have perhaps headed back there to meet up with you. It takes awhile, especially with long routes taken to avoid being torn apart by the patrols. Soon you find the lane - or at least, one very similar to it - that your parked the trukk in.

    Except, it's not there. And neither are any abhumans to interrogate.

    Frustrated, you retrace your steps back towards the entrance of the hive, but turn off eastward along the way, trying to find another entrance or at least some sign of the boyz.

    Occasionally you hear loud rattling from within the sewage pipes you pass, but it's impossible to tell whether it is one of your own banging around inside. Unfortunately there seem to be no significantly large opening to enter through.

    Eventually you find a more open area that seems to be something akin to a market. It is of course infested with furry humans, but there are a few more normal - if diseased and malnourished - looking ones around, mostly peddling goods.

    He looks at your fearfully for a moment, clearly not taking it all in properly but not entirely foreign to the idea of people eating each other. In the middle of an explanation, you can hear shots being fired and a terrible roar - definitely not Orkish, but too loud to be human either - from around the corner. You push the vendor onto the floor and step over him, running to get a good look at the fighting.

    As you round the corner it becomes clear what caused the roar. A large creature - like a pinkskin, and in uniform, but misshapen and lumpy - had what was unmistakably a choppa sticking out of it's shoulder, and had one of your assashuns pressed against a wall. The other seems to be out of sight, but a lack of blood makes his death seem unlikely.

    It's difficult to see much of anything anymore with one eye ruined beyond repair and the other smeared with the gelatinous innards and green blood. You wipe away what you can though and fumble around your shoota. It's not working, or empty - you're not sure which, but it will do as a club in a pinch.

    The 'umie is in agony and seems to be ordering passing abhumans to go and fetch the other guards. With little time to waste you charge, avoiding a clumsy blow and giving a swing of your shoota in return. It strikes directly and with a terrible crack. It seems that you've returned the favor of knocking out a gobful of teef from the brute.

    He spits blood and tooth shard in your face, obscuring your vision completely again. Though clearly in agony and being drained of his strength, he delivers a devastating kick directly to your stomach, forcing you onto your knees to steady yourself.

    Spitting out your own blood, you get up and sidestep away from his punches, manouvering around to get into reach of the weapon embedded in his back. His blows clip you twice more as you move, but your size makes you nimble compared to the brute, and you have soon leap onto his back and pull out the blade from his flesh. He attempts to grab you but your fury gives you speed and you hack off his paw at the wrist, causing him to buck and throw you off violently as he sinks to his knees, wracking sobs of agony shaking his flabby bulk.

    You lurch towards him again, your footing uneven and your grip on the choppa leaving something to be desired. Despite this, a coup-de-grace is an inevitabillity. He doesn't notice you as you approach, his full attention focused on the stump gushing with blood. His face has gone a ghostly white - all trace of pink vanished.

    All it takes is one blow, one slash. You raise your arm back and swing widely from the shoulder, the tip of the blade only just connects with his neck. A narrow, shallow wound that nevertheless causes him to choke and cough up blood.

    His death is assured, but his last moments will be drawn out and filled with the loneliness that only mankind can feel. His sobbing stops. The only sound he makes he makes is a disgusting gurgling of blood. His lips move, though, and you think you can hear one last message.

    He wonders why it had to be him.

    I think our best options as we are

    Without much choice in the matter, you and the the wounded assasshun head enter a pipe through a hole in the side and move a few meters down to get out of sight.

    It seems like some rest would be a good idea, but there is still the question of Spekkit being missing. If he could be found - and if he had success in gathering information or allies in a local gang - then it might be possible to press on immediately.

    The choice is yours - head further through the pipe system and rest, or seek out Spekkit.

    Rest seems like a good idea, and the pair of you prop yourselves up against the sides of the pipes, praying to Mork that they stay under-used and that you don't wake up drowning in muck.

    What have been several hours pass, and you wake up to find the muck has not drowned either of you, but has in fact risen to a couple feet in height. What's more, Spekkit is crouched over you and is shaking your shoulder.

    "Boss! Findin' you woz zoggin' 'ard. Guess what I found out!"

    You stare at him groggily.

    Yeah let's go check this humie thing. Does everyone still have their guns and choppas? Can we sort out Deffdakkas jammed orkgun?

    Have Spekkit show us the way and wotshisname Armbreaka can hang back and make sure it's not a trap. We want to know ways to get into da hive, where we can loot humie gear and vehicles and what we can do to shake up the hive in general.

    Actually I have an idea. If we can let's saboutage/open the gates into the hive and then have the humies spread a rumour that orks are attacking da hive RIGHT NOW! Then the muties and ratties will rush into da hive, creating panic. De best thing about dat plan is dat when Toofsum attacks later dey might not believe it until e's inside the hive klawing stuff up!

    Spekkit grins toothily; you are reminded of your half empty gob and rub your jaw, then shake the other assasshun awake. Spekkit leads you out of the tunnel. It's mostly deserted now, the body of the ogryn hauled away. Whatever patrol that cleaned the area must not have wanted or thought to look in the pipes. Now present are a small mob of gangers - all peculiar looking, even for pinkskins, and most with elaborate hair-squigs and nasty looking choppas. Spekkit beams with pride.

    "Not bad for 'umies, huh? Reckin dey can help out wiv da choppin', huh Boss?"

    The mob stares at you.

    You are led off by the mob further south-east, you three Orkz keeping close to the crowd to try to blend in. Low in the sky are many kopters, monitoring the area with spotlights.

    It doesn't take long to reach the area they were talking about, though it takes them explicitly pointing it out before you realise that it is indeed an entrance. Spekkit buts in to explain.

    "See Boss, dis 'ere is a maitenance tunnel. Isn't 'sposed to lead inside da hive, but dem 'umie mekboys have been slackin' off and derez tunnels and passages right into da 'underhive', is wot deze boyz call it. Do we wonna go in?"

    Yeah, there is definitely another thread or two to be had as Deffdakka. This was more an introduction/getting back into the swing of things before the interesting/awful (depending on what you want out of Ork Quest) things start going down inside the Hive.
