Ok this one is on a bigger scale this time.
ITT: we play our own strategy game, you suggest the actions and i will make it happen, as a guide this time i have a key at the top to show the progress of the people, notice the spare room, this is because you can suggest roles or train people into different roles as the village grows, at the moment we have a very basic start.

    - Our people have migrated from a small village to the south east as it came under attack from malign forces. This small group wanted to start out on their own and have established in this fertile area.
    - to our north is a great and dark forrest
    - to our south is a deep fast flowing river

Yeah, but I don't think in medieval days gods actively rampaged across the world raising undead.

With the right materials and a bit of effort, we can easily work out some basic scientific principles. Guns are probably out of reach, but the first [inefficient] models arrived fairly early, really, in the second millenium. At the very least we can build an efficient and fortified town.

If we've got the technology to refine and forge metal, we've got the technology to fix bits of wood together to make water-powered industry. Even the village of pot-smoking hippies had a windmill to grind their corn before the dark emissary torched it.

Okay guys, we've got a building society here. If the hunter can start looking towards weaponizing some poisons, we might be able to safely start an embassy - for sufficient growth for rapid industrialization, we need to establish trade and more importantly, immigration, which means we also need to bridge/dock that river as soon as possible - a river is bound to have other natives clinging to the banks somewhere along it. Natives we can exploit and turn into cheap labor as we advance into a golden age. Also I bet they'll know how to grow corn, and we can get some high-level farmers.

We have two hunters and a skinner. Use those to hunt some animals, smoke some meat, tan some leather clothes and armor for everyone while the blacksmith and the engineer are busy with constructing the techie stuff.

Once we have a waterwheel or a windmill, we can power looms and wineries and pretty much everything else of it, not just the forge.

You know, a glassmaker isn't a bad idea. That will allow us to make lenses, and that gives us telescopes and spyglasses for scouting. Maybe we can have the engineer's apprentice look into glassmaking, the sand on the riverside could have some silicates suitable for making glass out of.

Since we're going for a more technological city this time, maybe you should do some time skips in between certain updates.

For example, we get a little village going. Things laid out, getting built.

Then you time skip like, 50 years and it's more of a small city by then.

    >> Anonymous 04/22/10(Thu)09:14 No.9354429
Wait, shit, sorry. Misread the post, thought you were pro-hive city, reacted accordingly. My apologies.

    these, very muchso.

no, stop being an asstard, theres no fun in building a society based on the failures and successes of pre-existing ones, stop taking it seriously in a totally anal way.
    >> Anonymous 04/22/10(Thu)09:17 No.9354454
Perhaps a low-tier shipyard should be considered. If the river is big enough for boats, we should look into making some longboats for trade, exploration, and warfare.
    >> Anonymous 04/22/10(Thu)09:18 No.9354465
no offense dude, but, can you SEE the river? its big enough to pee across...

sooner or later we'll need a bridge or a ferry
    >> Anonymous 04/22/10(Thu)09:19 No.9354478
Speaking of pee and rivers. What are we doing with the shit? Maybe we should build a dunny or some infrastructure.
    >> Anonymous 04/22/10(Thu)09:19 No.9354479
Perhaps a ferry system for trade and travel, ghetto gondolas, y/n?
    >> Anonymous 04/22/10(Thu)09:19 No.9354481
Adding to this, we need people who can build wagons. Do we have clay? If so, we can make assorted vessels for transporting goods(jars, jugs, bowls and the like)
    >> An0nymous !gkWeiOwuW2 04/22/10(Thu)09:20 No.9354483

Bridge and road would be nice?

    >ghetto gondolas
That would work if this were a swamp or a collection of islands. Alternately, we could dig a bunch of channels and have Nigger Venice.

    >> Anonymous 04/22/10(Thu)09:22 No.9354507
No worries :) Hope the OP hasn't had some kind of horrific accident or something since the last post, as that would suck all the dicks.
    >> Anonymous 04/22/10(Thu)09:23 No.9354512
Search for a swamp to get pitch. We will need that in order to progress technologically

I suggested it ages ago, but nothing happened.

Or do we just dump it into the river. Also i vote we make a brick shit house.

If swamp is found, look for useful plants. Hell, are humans the only sapient race in this setting? If not, we should try to become as cosmopolitan a city as we can. Diversity will be our strength.

OP said this was larger scale, does that include length? if so....that means hes gna be drawing for longer, so hes working harder longer, so hes exherting himself more so he needs more food so the chinese delivery guy will need assistance from other chinese delivery guys to carry all the foodOHNO

A dam is cool, but how are we using boats for trade if we dam the river?
    >> Anonymous 04/22/10(Thu)09:58 No.9354903

Look at the river. It's a bit too shallow and there are too many rocks to be used for river trade.
