It's 5pm (ish) GMT on a friday. You know what this means, it means ZEONQUEST!

You are David H. Lister, Lieutenant Commander for Principality of Zeon and Ace Mobile Suit pilot. Last week you saved Garma Zabi's life, unfortunately your CO, Captain Fontaine, commander of your mothership, the Outer Heaven died trying to ram a wingless Gaw into the Trojan Horse.

It is two days after this event and you and the rest of your elite independant corps: The Nachtmaren Unit along with Garma Zabi and several other high ranking military figures are attending his funeral here in New York.

    Garma is giving a eulogy.

Garma takes the podium, clears his throat and begins his speech.
"Men of Zeon! We have lost a hero to our glorious and noble cause, but does this foreshadow our defeat? No! It is a new beginning! Compared to Earth Federation the national resources of Zeon are less than one thirtieth of theirs. Despite this major difference, how is it that we have been able to fight the fight for so long? It is because our goal in this war is a righteous one and her people resolute! It’s been over fifty years since the elite of Earth, consumed by greed took control of the Earth Federation. We want our freedom! Never forget the times when the Federation has trampled us! We, the Principality of Zeon, have had a long and arduous struggle to achieve freedom for all citizens of our great nation. Our fight is true, our cause worthy. For this a good man was sacrificed, Why? The war is at a stalemate. But I know that none of you have become complacent! Such a show of compassion is..."
He seems to be overcome for a second and then continues.

"The Earth Federation has polluted our most cherished planet for their own greed. We must send them a message, but not composed of words. We have wasted too much time with words. We need action now! The corrupt elite must be taught a strong lesson for their evil. This is only the beginning of our war! We have been putting more and more money into our efforts towards making our military stronger than ever. The Earth Federation has done the same."

"Many of your fathers and brothers have perished valiantly in the face of a contemptible enemy. We must never forget what the Federation has done to our people! By focusing our efforts, we are finally in a position where victory is within our grasp, and once again, our most cherished nation will flourish! Victory is the greatest tribute we can pay those who sacrifice their lives for us! Rise, our people, Rise! Take your sorrow, and turn it into anger! Zeon thirsts for the strength of its people! So let us finish this war once and for all!"

The crowd cheers. Captain, well, technically Rear-Admiral Fontaine is then buried in full military honours and the service continues for another 20 minutes or so before you all disperse.

Garma asks for your unit to meet with him in his office.

Your team arrive in the hotel suite that Garma has converted into a temporary office about 10 minutes later.

He rises from his desk and salutes you.

"David Lister, under the authority vested in me by the Admiralty and the Principality of Zeon, I am pleased to award you, for your actions both in the field and off it with the highest military honour Zeon can bestow: The Zeon Cross."

YOU HAVE BEEN AWARDED THE ZEON CROSS

"... this comes with a one rank promotion to the rank of Commander."

You recieve you award and smartly salute Captain Garma.

"Now, back to military matters, whilst we have yet to pin down the Trojan Horse's location, I am pairing up the Nactmaren Unit with another elite team to apprehend them. David, this man is Lieutenant Ramba Ral"

Garma introduces an older gentlemen sitting to his left.

"Good. When your done, we should be ready for our final attack on Jaburo." Garma states.

There is a knock on the door and an Aide enters and hands Garma a message. He reads it, and his brow furrows with concern.

    Act Zaku/Gouf Teamup?

Also: Question the basis of his decision. He'd better have pretty good reasons to have units risk their lifes and equippment in some wild goose chase instead of using them at the front.

It's ok to do something fun, but only if our general situation allows and if we actually have good reasons to do it.

This isn't about revenge. This is about winning the war. Forgetting that just to entertain Lister's or Garma's notions of revenge (and anon's notions of 'ololololol let's do something stupid just because it fucks the canon some more') is the last thing we should do.

How damaged is Amuro's white base? I'm surprised we haven't managed a mobility kill on it yet.

Anyway, Jaburo. We can get Ramba Ral's dudes, the Nachtmaren, and that Urban fighting squad from yesterday together. Go kick Jaburo's arse, plant the flag, and walk out grinning like mad fuckers.

Jaburo's mostly SEALED, isn't it? Meaning that if we get enough goddamn nerve gas, all we have to do is punch a little hole in it, pump in the gas, and defend until the gas is pumped. Or, do everyone's favourite trick and pump in something I'd like to call "radioactive gases". They won't use that base again.

How much is know about their relationship on the colonies already, what's the general view on it? I mean, it sure would help us to punch through some red tape if whoever could stop us would have to fear a publicty desaster.

If the relationship's not a hot topic, we're gonna mask her as part of our staff and request all the requried papers right now. Real papers. Put her on our payroll for a while if we have to but make it real and legal.

As you both salute and leave for the space-docks you ask Ramba Ral what the current political situation back on side-3 actually is like at the moment.

"Well, political power in the principality is currently split into three real factions. Gihren's faction and Kycillia's faction and Degwins supporters. Now, between Gihren and Kycillia's there is a clear divide, however from within both of those factions, there are also people who's defacto loyalty is to Degwin first and the children second. Most of Degwins supporters are also members of the Kycillia or Gihren side with a few supporting Degwin solely."

    "And Garma and Dozle?"

"Neither Garma or Dozle has any real backing in the political arena, however Dozle has heavy support in the officers corps of the army, which still makes him a strong contender. If Gihren has taken control, he will have to work through Dozle if he wishes to make any changes to the Zeon military, which Dozle, being conservative on such matters will oppose. Garma hasn't really had the chance to build any political ties until recently, and he probably one of the few to build any exclusive support with the Earth federation politicos."

    "...I see."

No, lets roll out. At best we'll just have to stand there and listen to an old man shouting about Garmas choice of women. At worst we may have to sneak around and take part in some clandestine murder as per part of a bid for power. So lets all be sure to go to the bathroom before we set off.

Would it be best to work through Kycillia in this case then? I mean, it's always nice to have somebody on the team who can afford to be loud and rude...but we might really need people backing us up in the cylinder for this one. People who can simply talk to other people and hear what we're not being told.

I think we should bring Dozle onboard for this operation. First, he must want to check on his father too. Second, he ought to see his baby brother's prospective girlfriend. Third, things are getting weird- and part of this is a big family matter. I'd like one of our Supporters? Friends? in the Zabi family to be with us when we face down Gihren or Kycillia. Oh, and if anyone tries anything, he looks like he could break a man in two. Just sayin'.

    Explanation for the non-gundam fanboy:

Zeon is currently ruled by the Zabi family. The father is Degwin Zabi and is an older gentleman. He also has four children:
    - Garma Zabi: The youngest child but most charismatic. We've had the most dealings with him.
    - Dozle Zabi: The middle (?) son. He's in command of the space forces and is pretty awesome. We've dealt with him a little at Pezun.
    - Kycilla Zabi is the daughter. She's a fairly cold bitch but she isn't EVIL. She has her own units but I can't remember the details.
    - Gihren Zabi is the oldest son and is an absolute douche. He acts as Degwin's right hand man.

Now now, lets look at this logically, we are going to go and see our dear friend and ally, who is also Garmas brother Girhen, whom we have some misgivings about given his current conduct. Our role here is primarily to gather information about what Girhen has been up to in regards to his new powers now that their father is sick. If this is a bad situation and we roll into an enemy stronghold, guns at the ready, he could just shout "Assassin!" and have us all killed and no one would be the wiser.

Thus we can say, taking mechs, at least openly will be bad for our press. Being in giant robots will also be of no help if we are trying to work out if, this being the worst case scenario, Girhen is indeed attemping a coup and is poisoning his father.

Our goal here is not to start a civil war, but prevent one. That goal will be best served by being subtle, gathering the required evidence and blackmailing whoever is invovled into stepping down. If we cannot do that then we will have to find another way to remove them and blame it on someone who is not us, preferably the Feddies.

    >The final Dom variant designed during the One Year War, the MS-09F Dom Funf was one of the most flexible designs produced by any of the three major mobile suit manufacturers. Based heavily on the Zimmad
Company’s previous suit, the MS-09 Dom, the Dom Funf was built
around a modular design. Designed before the Zeon military instituted their United Maintenance Plan, the Dom Funf’s design allowed for ease of repair and conversion for different environments. The two most striking differences between the two suits are the redesigned shoulders and legs. Given the Dom Funf’s construction, the unit could be easily refitted for different environments, saving both time and materials. With the introduction of the Dom Funf’s modular construction, the boundary between space and land types vanished. With just a few hours of work, a space-use Dom Funf could be re-equipped for ground combat, and many other environments including, but not limited to desert and tropical environments.

Technically the Rick Dom/Dom conversion shouldn't be as easy as the Funf space/earth conversion process. Modular design up in this shitnitzle.

He may have meant the Gelgoog or Gyan. But anyway, so for loadout we SHOULD bring the Dowadges, just to see if the Pezun guys can convert them. Also, IIRC Hovis has some experience in a Bigro, so that might be worth bringing as well. As for space MS, we have the Act, so our best bet sounds like El Muerto Gigante, and 3 (Rick) Doms. If not EMG, then just an F(R)2.

Actually I've gotten a little AU on the Funf, as it's come BEFORE the Tropen as it's the precursor to the modular design practice that lead to the Uinified Parts Plan. (Where the Gelgoog Jaeger, Zaku Kai and Rick Dom 2 come from.) Also, it requires highly specialised parts and only 3 or 4 were ever made.

While we're on the subject of Doms, how far-fetched would it be for us to get ahold of one of these?

    http://www.mahq.net/Mecha/gundam/gggb/ms-09f-gb.htm

"The MS-09F/Gb Dom Gross Beil ("Gross Beil" name means "Big Axe") is a variation of the MS-09R Rick Dom, with enhanced mobility and ranged combat capabilities in order to rival the next-generation MS-14A Gelgoog mobile suit that replaced the Dom series. Developed at the same time as the land warfare mobile suit MS-09F/trop Dom Tropen, it shares many of the same parts and has a similar external appearance. Several thrusters have been added to its legs, and its mobility is equal to that of the MS-14B Gelgoog High Mobility Type. Its functional concept is specialization for melee combat, and its distinctive armament includes a heat knife and a large heat saber with a built-in thruster. However, the war ends just as the design is on the verge of completion, and its development is halted before it can reach the prototype stage."

Seems like with our knack for getting prototype machines and our feet firmly planted in an alternate universe it'd be a distinct possibility.

And if we could get the giant sword replaced with a Dozle-sized Heat Hawk...well...I'm sure Zol would be very, very happy.

We should definitely get a Bigro for Hovis. I'm not sure if conflict (if there is any to begin with) would escalate to the point of leaving the colony, but if it did having a Bigro piloted by daresay one of the best Zeon MA pilots would be an invaluable asset.

Okay, sounds good, tossing out the Gasshia as well for an R-2 isn't unfeasable.

You make the requests and the factory spokeperson say that they'll have the Mobile Suit in the ship in about 3 hours. You notify Lt Ral about this and agree to launch then.

    You also outline your plan.
Firstly you will be dropping in on Pezun to return your PEzun-Dowdages whilst your in space, hoepfully exchange them for something. Maybe Ramba can get his hands on something newish if he want's it as well?

Then you'll be travelling to Solomon to try and get Dozle's help on your mission.
    Ramba Ral considers this.

"Hmm, I'm not sure if Dozle will be able to help all that much, like I said he doesn't have that much clout in the political arena... perhaps if he came personally, but he's got a whole lot to be doing in Solomon, so I'm not sure if he'd go for it... It's still worth a shot."

After that you would be travelling to Side 3 to try and gain an audiance with Degwin.

IS THIS RIGHT, OR DO YOU WANT TO ADD ANYTHING TO IT?

You ask Ramba about the feasability of getting Kycillia on board as well. He seems skeptical.

"The problem with that is that we would be seen to be siding with the Kycilia faction, and at that point any chance we have of seeing Degwin without attempts by the Gihren faction to block us would evapourate. In the long run we could barrell through since we have the support of all 3 siblings against Gihren, but it would probably destroy any chance of a favourable greeting between Lord Degwin and Garma's girlfriend."

I suggested just giving her a legal position, a legal status with Zeon and all that shit. Basically putting her on our payroll under another name. We're not smuggling as she'll officially have real documents and a position. She'll just be travelling under another name for her own protection.

True, however the trick here is to neither deny nor confirm her status as any on particular thing. To say she's a technician when she is later revealed to be not, could impact on us later in, as it will give them something to slander us about which will almost technically be true. What we want to be doing is not really saying anything about who she is or what she does, while being concise about who she is and what she does, in the best possible way. Politics is like that, tell them just enough to let things swing your way while saying nothing. Also to always keep our own hands clean.

I think the general idea is that she'll be travelling incognito under a fake name. Basically in order not to let the cat out of the bag, it wont be revealed who she actually is until she makes contact with Degwin. Garma has given her a hand written letter to deliver to him when that happens.

Anyhow. After Bernies new R2 get's delivered both you and Ramba Ral's ships taxi onto the mass-driver and launch yourself up into escape velocity.

The journey to space is quiet and uneventful, which makes a change. You arrive in the HLV dropzone roughly 20 minutes later, and from there you make your way to Pezun Testing Base, which should take 2 hours.

Roughly an hour into the journey however, you catch the tail end of a priority message.

"...again, roughly 2 hours ago a Federation task force of 1 carrier and 2 Cruisers managed to punch through a portion of the Luna 2 blockade. Extreme caution for all Zeon forces between Luna 2 and Side 4 are advised to travel with extreme caution. So we basically decided to take the modular components and go for two biggest extremes we could. This is the first idea we had: The Dom Bein Nichts.

It's a high speed, heavy armament space combatant. We swapped the legs out for extra high-powered thrusters, and a decent sized dop pod as they're thirsty buggers. As for armament, we've got weapon latches and hard-points across the frame, and whilst we weren't able to upgun the chest scatter beam to a full beam weapon like the Pezun Dowdages it is however capable of swivelling a little."

Alternatively, they've got pretty much anything else you've piloted thus far, a bit of prodding reveals that YES they do have another Act Zaku, but you get the feeling they wanted to hang onto that for when they finally get a working model of zeon-made beam rifle.

This is a good point. We've all got space capable something to ride in, and we REALLY want to get to mass production zeonic beam rifles as soon as we can. If that means the rest of us have to run in support for the Jol and Zol tag team show until we get back to earth, then that's what we do.

Our overspecialization on ground suits is mostly tied to the fact that we've had to do next to no space fighting until recently. By the time A Baoa Qu happens we'll all probably be in super-gelgoog variants of one kind or another.

    2) if we immobilize it, we have a chance to capture. This would be a huge boon to the Zeon war effort, as well as a fuckwin propaganda victory for both Zeon and Garma.

Keep at range, everyone focus your fire on the same locations, engines first, bridge second, keep your distance from any Gundams that launch, so its pretty much a by the numbers engagement. Once its engines are crippled this fight will be won, if not by us then by the reinforcements on their way, but lets not let that happen.

Also I feel it prudent that we make the opening shot on the comms array, just in case they get the idea to call in more feddies.

What exactly can we do with it if we immobilize it? Providing we manage a successful boarding action, I doubt we have enough spare crewmen to man it ourselves. Plus, we would have to hold position and defend it from the two cruisers, which will probably arrive before relief from Pezun or Solomon arrives, and that would put us further off-schedule.

The ventral and dorsal gates open up and you all begin to quickly disembark.

That still doesn't answer the question of how we're going to do that with two cruisers on our butts, who may just choose to blow it up and run. If we manage to capture it intact in the first place.

Besides, a Pegasus-class isn't anything special at this stage. We have two Zanzibars with us now, which can do most everything a Pegasus can anyway. Outer Heaven even has a Minovsky Craft. The only thing it lacks is catapults, and that's hardly a stellar technological breakthrough.

Okay, general gist is to try and move in and disable the ship.

Calvin, escorted by Elaines F2, moves into a suitable recon spot to try and get more tactical data whilst you Zolomon, Bernie and Jolyne move forwards backed up by Hovis in his Bigro.

Your computer warns you of the incoming beams and slow moving shells and your party scatters to avoid the long range fire.

"Looks like their fire isn't so accurate at these ranges." Jolyne comments.

"Our's isn't so hot either." You remind her.

"I've got confirmation on the mobile suits, looks like 4 Guncannon times, they're trying to set up a firing line to keep us at arms length." Calvin signals to you.

    Hovis then pipes up.

"Sir? The boosters on my Bigro could close the gap and scatter than formation if you like."

    "How risky would that be?"

"They've got beam rifles, so pretty risky if I take to long."

"My No-Legs could probably keep up if you want."

You aren't so sure about splitting your team up, but the firepower from those mobile suits is pretty heavy.

    Team 1:
    David, Bernie, Elaine
    Team 2:
    Zol, Jol
    Team 3:
    Bigro
    Team Calvin:
    Calvin

As Teams 1 and 2 move to engage the enemy MS, Team 3 moves directly to engage the cruisers. The Bigro has the speed and the firepower to take them out. Team Calvin keeps us in contact. As for the MS, keep Bernie and Elaine together; hopefully she can keep him alive. David, Zol, and Jol prioritize enemy suits. Elaine and Bernie screen against fighters. If Ral launches his suits, his F2s can add to said screen, while his Rick Dom can assist us in engaging the enemy MS. The idea is that the Pegasus is now caught between rescuing its escorts or letting them die and pressing the fight.

You give the Order and latch onto Hovis's Bygro and the three of you dash forwards.
In your rear view camera you see Zolomon and Bernard joined by Ramba Ral's Dom and his 2 F2 Zaku's. Beams lance about your team and the Bygro dances through the fire, suprisingly nimble for something so large. I returns fire with it's Megaparticle cannon, and you can see the tight formation become disrupted.

"Okay, after we reach them, me and Jolyne will engage the enemy mobile suits whilst you carry on and disable the target, destroy only if there's no other choice."

    "Roger!"

You detach from the Mobile Armour, and pull out your Bullpup.
The three of you dash through the scattered Guncannons, you see Hovis catch and then crush one in his claws as he rockets past. The explosion distracts them for split second, which you use open up on them with your Bullpup.

Bullets fly in a near solid mass, and you spray them at the two remaining suits. The first one is practical shredded by the weight of fire and explodes without even noticing you, the second one dodges out of the way and only takes glancing shots to the arm, he returns fire and you dodge the crimson bolt, his rifle then explodes, taking the damaged arm with it.
One of your bullets must have hit the weapon.

With his attention on you he fails to notice Jolyne who takes the oppourtunity to destroy the crippled suit with a fly-by attack from her Raketen.

If we can I'd like to use the Trojan Horse as a death trap for the cruisers as they rush up to either support it or destroy it. I suspect they will use the fighters to try and pry us off of it as they move in alongside it to either act as a shield or to blow it to bits. We should try to prevent them from pulling up to it and concentrating their fire by having the Bigro and Dom team keep them zigging and zagging.

We should probably check our ammo and see how and what Ral is doing.

You dash through the thinned flak and you, in your Act-Zaku painted like a gaint skeleton point your gun directly at the bridge.

"This is Commander David Lister of the Nactmaren Unit, your ship is disabled and your MS team destroyed. Surrender."

Fire from the guns stops. But no reply is forthcoming.

"Sir, I've gotten word that the Cruisers and their support craft are retreating!" Comes Calvins call over the network.

    Still no reply
You're beginning to get worried that they've started a self-destruct countdown when you're eventually hailed by the ship.

"This is, uh, First Lieutenant West. I guess I'm the commanding officer now. Uh, we surrender?"

YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY CAPTURED A PEGASUS CLASS CARRIER.

Disable any remaining weaponary. Transmit a message telling the ship to surrender. Keep an eye on the location of the two cruisers, we need to hold them off long enough for reinforcements to arrive. If we can contact our ship from here tell them to send a laser comm message requesting the reinforcements go as fast as they possibly can as there's a chance to capture a Trojan Horse.

    This

Also, transmit to the two feddie cruisers

Let them know that all of their crew will receive safe transport and be treated according to all geneva/whatever conventions, tell them that reinforcements from Solomon and Side 3 are on the way, and this is their only chance to surrender.

If they do anything other than comply, send a beam shot through the bridge of the white base, and go to destroy the cruisers

Its dead in the water, so to speak, its already dropped its fighter compliment so we can ignore it. We have two cruisers incoming as well as a new wave of fighter craft, these are now our top priority. Ideally we'll want to demand the Trojan Horse to power down and surrender or we beamcannon their bridge, but we're kind of busy and we need those beam shots. It should still have active defense turrets however and that ought to be our dictating action.

We need to move outside the effective range of the now disabled Trojan Horse and deal with those carriers and fighter compliment. I will stress that we take out its comms array now, if we do this well, no one will know we have captured it, and if no one knows we have captured a Trojan Horse we can fly it straight into Jaburo and pull a truly Troy level victory.

Yes, destroy its effective comms, move out of its range, intercept and engage those cruisers with the same tactics as before, cover Hovis on the way in, beam the capital ships, everyone else on destroying fighters. Once one of those cruisers is disabled we can transmit for their general surrender.

    Laser comm to Solomon

Let them know we have a present for them, tell them to send engineers and a skeleton crew out to get the pegasus back to Solomon
guys, I think we have a unique opportunity here. We have to figure out a way to bring that pegasus back to Solomon and use it to our advantage, to make us look so fucking good gihren can't do anything.

I say we announce that the pegasus is a Gift from Garma to his ailing father, and use it as propaganda to make Garma look fucking good and garner political support for him.

But we still need to HOLD it. We might have captured it, but there's a pair of cruisers inbound with reinforcements, and we can't really just stand here with a gun pointed at the bridge until that fight gets settled. And the crew might blow the ship if we give them the chance. OR the enemy cruisers might blow the ship if we give them the chance. And I think the enemy backup is going to get here before ours does.

So how are we going to hold onto this beast?

    AFTERMATH

With the ship disabled, your two cruisers have to tow it back yourselves.
It transpires that for a few seconds it looks like the ships Captain HAD been planning to self-destruct the ship with you on top of it. This being the same captain who fell for your bait and seperated himself from his escorts.
It's probably a good thing that the ensuing mutiny ended in his death in the long run.

In anycase, you finally meet back up with the task force sent from Solomon to aid you, and together you all bring back a captured Trojan Horse as a trophy to Solomon.

Well, that's ONE way of impressing the locals.
You eventually dock some 5 hours later than scheduled. To be met personally by an enthusiastic Admiral Dozle Zabi, who still dwarfs you.

"You can't help but make an entrance can you Lister! HA HA HA! Welcome to Solomon!"

    TO BE CONTINUED.

I think the cat is out of the bag already. That time delay was probably them telling the cruisers to book it while they try to stall or something.
We need to hoof it to those cruisers and destroy them before they can get a lasercomm off to someone.

    >-enquire if we should be carring bio-monitors in our MS to record any changes in physiology or brainwaves durring such and encounter

We're in space. We should consider talking to the Newtype people once we've completed our mission.

Yep. If they sent that ship in expecting it'd need the best possible, those ex-Guncannons will have spare beam rifles in repair parts.

Maybe enough that we can snag a few for our suits out of the lot and still enough to further the research effort.

    Goldmine, gentlemen. Solid gold.
