Makarian infantry, huh? Do they have personal teleporters?

    >>13753041
    Yes.
Even though each makarian has static health, they are given personal "holy fields" that allow them to possess certain physical properties.

    Some can teleport
    Others are fire proof
Rarer still, there are those that can temporarily snatch allies from a future of death.

Surprise general thread! Should have known OC couldn't wait until Friday to start one!

    Well some questions then:

ODF invasion protocols, what are they?

I suppose we'll be seeing TeraZera once we get past the Iron Line.

You've talked about it in IRC, but for the benefit of those who don't sit in there could you explain your ideas for secure objectives?

"Holy fields?" Makarians don't seem the type to have holy anything.

Why do they have magic powers now?

Due to prolonged attrition and extended combat conditions of invasion operations,
Secure objectives are set up for every engagement to allow for fighting groups a time for reprieve and resupplies during a multi-part operation.

To earn "sleep" one must satisfy the basic conditions of secure objectives if accomplishing the primary objective is unattainable at the time.

    1. Beat the Secure Objective, the secure objective changes with each engagement and is fluid with the situation. This normally translates to wiping out a good percentage of the enemy forces, securing a perimeter around a structure, or declaring a perimeter.
    2. If the secure objective cant be met, capture a structure and assign it as a temporary base. Those that are overcome with battle fatigue may retreat safely to these areas.
    3. If your forces are too few to accomplish these tasks, then improvise a shelter in which you will not be attacked for two turns.

Why would the Exalted pay them? The Exalted would simply make them. The Exalted, from my understanding, are beyond the scope of galaxies.

Hell, the Xenoforms and the Maks? The Exalted made them.

Odd that both are equally edible, and supposedly rather delicious.

    20 TeraZera questions

    1. How social are they with each other? Tribes that are interconnected through a Shaman.
    2. How often has the HLF encountered them? And survived ? 3 times.
    3. Do HLF civilians know of them? No. They know the Exalted as a collective mass of bad things. If ignorance determined the majority of their beliefs. Some planets will never see war due to their position in the fringe.
    4. Have they ever shown up on Kruss? No. The exalted passed Kruss and left the Xenoforms as an occupational force.
    5. Do they fight in space or are they strictly ground. combatants? They ride giant creatures in space.

    6. If they fight in space, do they use ships or are they just so awesome that they fight in space without them? They have internal mass acceleration. This only works in areas devoid of gravity wells. They're not terribly maneuverable this way either since they can only fall towards objects.
    >> OrbitalCommand !w68jcmPgR6 02/02/11(Wed)23:25 No.13761533
    7. What do the other forces of the Exalted think of the TeraZera? The Tera Zera sees the xenomorphas as insects. They eat bigger monsters on a daily basis. The makarians trade monster carcasses with them.
    8. Do the TeraZera have communities or is their entire race nomadic warriors? They participate in these massive communities as they dream in the stars.
    9. How long does it take a TeraZera to reach adulthood? How long does it take for Mountains to form ?
    10. How long do they live? How long does it take for rivers to run ?
    11. Do they ride xeno bosses into battle? They ride their predators.
    12. What do the TeraZera think of the Exalted? Their Planet Father.
    13. What do the TeraZera think of the other Exalted forces? Soft Sisters.
    14. Can a TeraZera female still fight while pregnant? She counts as two combatants- and must fight twice as hard !
    15. If not, what does she do while pregnant? Fight 10 times as hard !
    16. Do they use bows and arrows because they believe anything else would be dishonorable or because they don't understand more complicated weapons? Because flexing the bones of the SteeliaRex requires more energy to bend than the creation of a bitank, and that physical phenomena remains constant no matter what field you fight in.
    17. Has a TeraZera ever fought the Exalted because he/she thought they were the best fighters around? They have been graced the Terrifying SteeliaRex to eat their weakest, and were bombarded with poisonous plant to make their souls strong, and then forced to fly without wings when their father deemed them ready to jump away from their sun scorched home.

    18. What is a TeraZera's favorite food? Volcanic Ash.
    19. Has a TeraZera ever decided he/she didn't want to fight anymore? They dont have a word for Fighting.
    20. Do TeraZera sing? Yes.

I must draw them now perhaps.

Squad lists (like I've been hounding for, seriously, it feels like I'm some sort of manager or something).

    OR

A discussion on a more optimal method to organizing, aside from me letting you drop where you want and then lumping you together in arbitrary squads. Mainly since past non-Kruss actions seems to indicate that our current organizational system needs a bit of working.

Of course, I could just have current squad leaders pick their squaddies according to some scenario-specific mandates/requests. Like, "Alpha squad is going to go for CQC, so pack Knights."

And if you haven't realized it by now, this is for Bravo.

We don't really have named spec ops teams. Anyway, the spec ops mission that was talked about is a no-go, so it's not really a concern.

Whether not doing anything about Sigma now will come back to bite us later or not, we'll just be going straight to the counter-offensive after the Kruss game is finished.

Simply put, I have no reason to authorize a Spec. Ops mission. Forget about danger; I simply don't see what you would hope to achieve that couldn't be done through politics and a little investigating.

I mean, we already have a motive for the attack; it would be as simple as listening to whoever was grumbling about our little "allegiance" with the xenoforms and who would have access or sway to get a Sigma kill team.

A possibility would be that said mission would NOT be authorized by Walker, but if so, you can't expect any support from him.

So what you are saying is that if such a mission would take place you would disavow all knowledge of such an action and it's participants.

    >>13764044

Unless someone presents an argument to convince me that such a mission is necessary, then yes, I suppose you could say so.

And like I said before, the idea that they might stab us in the back seems unlikely. They wanted to send a message, and they did. Hell, they caught us with our pants down, they could have easily done it before, when our ships wasn't surrounded by a horde of xenos.

If anything that should compel us more to gain every bit of intelligence we can on our adversaries. At the moment they have the upper hand being able to attack at any moment opportune to them and disadvantageous to us. If we go through with the mission we can obtain information that will help us stave off future attacks or at least help level the playing field between us. Just because it is unlikely they will attack again should not mean that we should not prepare a counter offensive against such an action.

    And risk a civil war?

No, I'd rather wait. Let them strike again, and when they do so, we strike back, hard and quickly, and make the whole affair publicly known as soon as possible.

The public (presumably) already knows we've been attacked once, they hit again, we catch them in the balls at the same time, and get the public on our side.

I mean, as soon as the attackers are identified and made public in their destruction, the odds of a civil war drops dramatically. First it's going to deter further attacks, as they'll be made an example of. Second, in the political scene, careful manipulation can easily result in any individuals, politicians or otherwise, look like Al Queda supporters by association, even if the attackers are labeled as "extremists."

They would, essentially, be seen as how Muslims were following 9/11 in the US. A lot of animosity towards the groups that carried out the attack, along with anyone that can be remotely associated with them.

After all, an attack on the esteemed and heroic Human Liberation Force Bravo, who sacrificed life and limb to turn the xenoforms against their former masters? Suddenly, Sigma and everyone that talks to them are going to have a lot of eyes on them.
    >> [Fc] PFC SoapwRX !!lIURwBKIw5c 02/03/11(Thu)04:58 No.13764355
    >>13764235
We have no idea how they will strike next though. So far out battle plan is wait and hope that Bravo can survive their next attack. Who can say their offensive against us will just physical. While we wait they can spread false propaganda. When they do attack, they will have justified it in the minds of the people and government. Or perhaps they will sabotage our supply lines while we wage a new offensive. Bravo company risks even more by not doing anything than it does by going on the offensive for once. We need to tie up our loose ends before we commit ourselves to a major offensive lest the situation we left behind turns even more dire against us. The force that attacked Bravo did it to scare Bravo their tactics were to ensure that we will not rise against them. If we stand by compliant we allow them to continue what ever machinations they have for us, which are increasingly becoming apparent to be destructive to the members of Bravo. The most justification for us not commiting to an action as justified would be because a large amount of the population would identify with our struggle and rise up with us. The more we wait the more chance our adversaries have to turn what public support we have against us meaning that when they do decide we have outlived our usefulness we will be caught between what ever enemy we are fighting and the masses turned against at home.
    >> [CO] Col. Walker !IMYfe1j54Y 02/03/11(Thu)05:04 No.13764389
    >>13764326

First off, Bravo technically doesn't have supply lines. All of our stuff is... well, stuff we've acquired through various missions, to my understanding.

Second, judging from what that Administrator Lovac said, or almost said, along with the reaction from the "let's go for the peaceful solution guise!" Fierstrom, you can infer that public opinion is, at best, mixed.

I mean, not too long ago, everyone hated and loathed the bugs. Worlds died due to them; and now they're our friends? Sure, they're being controlled, but the public probably don't know that. And even if they did, they are likely to be wary of us.

And in any case, we don't have any direct proof that it was Sigma that attacked us. So any operations against them would easily be turned against us. Whoever controls them would easily go, "hey everyone, look, the bug-lovers attacked their own comrades!" Then hurp-a-durp, best case scenario is a civil war, worst case we're branded as traitors and everything we've worked for goes to hell in a handbasket.

Also, Bravo consists of combat clones, who are all expendable. Aside from being highly independent, we are just as expendable as all the other ODF's. Perhaps slightly less since the only two people that Abaddon/Domino will listen to are Walker and Fierstrom.

But yeah, we ready ourselves, do some poking around in the political arena, and let them turn themselves into the bad guys.
    >> [Fc] PFC SoapwRX !!lIURwBKIw5c 02/03/11(Thu)05:21 No.13764454

Sitting tight can not be answer to this situation.

You appraisal of the situation is even more "what if" than the justifications for the mission.

We have a lead and we should follow it, hope for answers in the political realm will be even more subject to enemy manipulation, misdirection and cover-up than what we have now.

We aren't saying to wipe out Sigma we are asking for clearance to gain clear unbiased intelligence from them via a covert ops mission.

The mission carries with it risk but Bravo has faced tougher odds before and come on top.

Bravo needs closure on this a highly skilled and equipped force attacked your soldiers to demoralize if not eliminate them as a threat.

Waiting around for them to make the first move and hoping they left a trail that we can follow in the politcal realm where Bravo has barely if any pull would cement that attack as a victory for them.
Allow Bravo to get some answers they can trust for themselves Walker this may be our only opportunity to get the truth.

    >A bit of write faggotry myself an Diary came up with, using an Automatic regiment doing an exploration mission in a life lush planet.

t was called the Bijima. These horizontal rainfalls that hit so hard it they might as well have been underwater. Mixed with the vacuous winds the waters were pretty much thinned out into bubble of rainfall. The reality is that they may as well be in a river. Hiding behind the curves of the local flora, Beta-56 huddled against the frame of his sister Beta 54, as they patiently sat still in the shadow of the Tarnith Root- a severely durable tree that bent to the winds' will but kept tight purchase to the ground and its leaves.
    " Sister- "
    " I know "
Their cloaking mats were taking a severe beating. But taking them off now would risk opening their packs. They didn't make a move. These winds could throw a berry harder than a truck.

"Beta." Came a voice over the communicators. The weather made the reception choppy but a bot was meant to take the worst and make it passable. Correction filters made it clear as day. "Beta this is HQ." Headquarters was far away in a climate controlled bubble. Safe from the extreme weather changes that the planet suffered from. Bijima was known for its torrential rainstorms, high humity and terrible terrible natives. Inside its safe little hole were scientists, many who were the top aspiring genetic majors any university could find. This mission was of utmost importance.

Infact it could quite possibly tap farther into the genetic coding--more so than cloning ever did. Augmenting human code was a difficult and arduous task. It did not have the finesse that the natives on this planet did.

"Forcast shows that the weather will tide over in the next hour. Try not to rust and avoid movement. The Strykers on this planet are evolved to withstand high winds when they fly. They have very large wingspans so you cannot miss them but I would not engage. At least..." Some papers were flipped quickly. "Thats what we were told."

" And if we are to Encounter them ? " 54 promptly asked as if processing all possibilities .

The comm was silent for a moment before the comm started crackling to life. Even then there was an awkward pause for the scientist behind the microphone. "Don't die Beta." Came the unsteady voice. "Proceed as orders drive."

"Understood". 54 was responsible for her brother- who had just very recently been given a body. Robots were cheap and expendable, as use able and ready and reproducible as their bodies. While that is true, the soul of that inhabited them were more tempermental things. Strong, yes. But more limited in terms of the resources needed to make them. Time.
While the memories of ones' spark could be digitized and replicated, the moment they are given a core does the differences become to develop. The environment, as dynamic and as chaotic as the universe- ensured that they had a place in it.
To 54, her place was to wrap her hands tightly around her unflinching brother. Who is still fresh to the frailties of their incarnations.
    >> OrbitalCommand !w68jcmPgR6 02/03/11(Thu)15:55 No.13768676
The communicator was shut and information wa spassed onto the other bots that were scouting the area, all were given the same mission and all handled and processed the information differently. It was a fascinating process for some sociologists and thos einterested in human development. That which these sparks developed was not too far from a child's development. Each bot was made the same but it was instances and situations that made them different.

And AI who learned to dodge a punch because they realised that such an act would disrupt their sensors was smarter and thus better than the AI who had no experienced the same instance. However in this particular mission they were all ignorant.

Strykers had not even been given an official codex because as far as the general population knew they did not exsist. They were vast in number and all together a formidable number, however it was impossible to tell what was an original generation styrker. Their population grows expodentially and with each generation a new trait or feature will pop up amoung the brood. Enough generations with each group being different from the rest they all might have been different species. Too much to catalogue.

So they weren't catalogued. Not yet at least. This was somewhat the purpose of the mission. To find a Stryker and understand the Styrker. The mission was simple. Scout for the head of the Stryker brood here. See if it was old enough to perhaps hold some original traits and if not, take samples of what made a styrker so adaptable. Process. analyze.

Bag and Tag--at least after the storm let up.

Beta 56 opened his eyes. A radiant mist of water enveloped the silent jungle. The bijima had let up , and in its stead left behind a clear level of water that tinted into a curious purple. Without even scanning for it with his fingers, he knew that this instance is only unique to protoculture presence. The purple in the water meant that they were coming from somewhere even if it was blown 100s of miles from its origin. 54 was hunched over him. Her eyes vacant behind the facial carapace. She was reporting her findings, along with the findings of the other teams. As per usual he was left to field scout while she downloaded the information.

Taking inventory on himself, he found his camo mat to be warped beyond useability. The texture on the shiny surface was rippling stochastically like the rainfall that hand machinegunned them from all directions and therefore would take a reserve of energy to recalibrate. Getting up, he takes careful steps from the tree, onto the mud and into the water. Since it was rich in protoculture- it would make for an energy soup of sorts.

Cupping the purple water in his hands. He took a gradual sip as he tried to take in the liquid as silently as possible.

he information was sent and process. A potential find for a hive was a few hundred metres away. Surprisingly close but with the rich culture in the water there was no other option. The chances of finding Strykers in the area was of a high probability. HQ sent the information back out and sent orders to scout ahead further in the general towards the higher elevations.

All sounds were quiet in the rainforest save for the constant drops of water falling from the high canopy of the forest. It would be hard to determine whether the faint buzzing was white noise from the radio or an actual buzzing from the rainforest.

6 Placed the mat in his mouth. Wadded up lengths of its feedback sensors swam around in his tongue. Once his body metabolized the water, a jolt ran through his mouth as his tongue conducted microdata into the camo sheet. He adjusted its color according to his visual data and created a picture perfect mosaic of the jungle around him. Only to realize that at the edge of the octo camo's mimicry was a humanoid figure in the back. With decicsive movement he extended his arm across his hip and whipped the heavy blaster towards the foliage. The water rippled in cracks as dew created ripples all across the shallow pond. At the corner of his sight- he saw the facial carapace of his sister charge into his vision as she deftly slammed his head into the mud.

" 56, disengage your arms you are not only in open view but you are displaying hostile action "

Her body settled heavily on top of him- their small frames sank into the water as her Camo mat covered the both of them in invisibility.
    >> OrbitalCommand !w68jcmPgR6 02/03/11(Thu)16:01 No.13768755
The humanoid figure and shifted. Sinking down onto the ground in a low crouch. There was a soft clicking sound that came from it but the creature didn't move. It didn't in fact even pear beyond the water soaked leaves. The clicking became slightly louder along with a rumble. More like a constant vibration in the air as it got louder and closer.

"Beta. We appear to be havin something blocking the radar. It looks like heavy cloud cover based onthe scope but it is moving too fast to be weather rolling in."

The buzzing got louder. It was hardly a cloud--but a swarm. High in the canopy a shadow came looming over, zipping pat the camo'd siblings and beyond. Some orders were passed and it seemed like the bees were just traveling across. Perhaps to get food? Or perhaps scouting themselves for possible enemies. It seemed like ages they were flitting across the scope blocking all ability for HQ to see and give orders. And then it was clean.

However there were Styrkers on the ground, scavenging. While their xeno cousins too advantage of their size, Strykers being much smaller relied on number. There have been many a horror story of people encountering them only to get ripped apart bit by bit by their smaller taloned hands and teeth. Picked clean like tiny faeries.

rom his arrested position on the mud. 56 adjusted his visual feed to take from the camo mat. He was seeing them in droves dive in and out of the water, soaking it up, rooting the ground for drowning worms and other fauna that are surfacing from their tunneled habitats to escape the drowning waters. The data stream that was collected in 56's eye moved too fast for him to comprehend on an analytical level. And soon information simplification and data omissions became a necessity to keep track of all the variable occurences that have happened. His core was whirring, his breath was drawing in gusts of cold waters, protocols were being created just for the observation of these creatures.

54 shivered as she kept him tight in her arms, her experiences of extrapolation occurring bouts of panic back when she was being indicted into a Model S body.
They kept still- to the best of their abilty, but as traumatic as this experience had been 56 was almost forgetting the sensitive purchase that the camo sheet had on them as he shifted around liberally to study them.
And that- it was his sister that deployed a single one to cover the both of them.
    >> OrbitalCommand !w68jcmPgR6 02/03/11(Thu)16:04 No.13768789
The strykers were fast but they had to be. It was in their nature to use speed to every aspect of their life. Speedy in gathering, speed in flying, speed in evolution. Without speed there was death and the creatures lived to that full ideal. The Worker types kamikaze dized into the flooded waters, some even momentarily landing on 54 only to leap right back off. The swarm buzzed and clicked in their ancient language before the mass went flying away.

the headquarters were buzzing themselves, scientists trying to calculate just how many were in the mass that covered their radar, imagining that the numbers had to be thick, or at the very least layered thick enough to cause such an odd disruption. It meant they might need backup if things got too heated. Preparations were made, ,orders were sent up the chain of command, things were deligated down.

And the Beta siblings were left in comm silence, the rining of the noise the swarm brought dying down with the exception of one singular one. Coming out of the bushes the green Styrker was covered in what looked like torn fabrics. A hasty cover to protect from the harsh elements, it covered like a cloak would, head to toe but leaving a good access to fly out if need be. The creature's legs were thin, frail looking. They were more like sticks than real legs as it carefully moved along the knee deep waters.

It clicked at where the Betas were.

ction stations. Thought 56. But 54 jammed her hand down between where his hands were going and his holster, As a warning to regulate his automatic and instinctual actions to fire on anything that happened to look at them. 54's mind was more lucid of the situation, 56s' macro protocols were still being worked on. The resulting conflict caused what could only construed as a shiver in his nerves. Unable to move, unable to settle on inaction, 56's hand stilled as he squeezed his sister's. His eye was drawn on the skeletal structure, her obsidian eyes glinted curiously in the reflective water light and the oil slick rainbows that formed caused palpable disruptions in his concentration. H e r movements became fluid, unlike the spastic and near idiotic flails of the other bugs - and they were as intentional as anything he had seen in 54.

54 drew a small cooling breath to calm her cores. Even this one was an exception that warranted a near instinctual reach for her SponGuns.

S h e moved deliberately closer to the water, its eyes unblinking only because it didn't have eyelids to do so. Instead there was a clear film that flicked over the eyes on occasion to get rid of dust that may have fallen into the black eyes. A very amphibian trait. When 56 made an attempt to move it stilled just as quickly--wings fluttering half ready to fly away at the instant.

When 54 stopped it, the Styrker moved until it was about double 54's arm length away. It was careful for it was the only way around. Lowering herself she crouched low, the nobby knees clacking against each other looking like thin reeds in the water. A moment pass and she reached into the water, pulling out a grub wriggling in the water.

It was a bright pink leech like slug, wriggling desperately in the bug's grasp. She held it out towards the two siblings for a moment..paused, brought it to its mouth taking a bite out of the wriggling thing and then offering it back out.

" You're shitting me." 54 replicated. It was a human expression that she picked up to appropriately emulate surprise and disdain for their faulty technological advancements. Not only was their cover compromised, but as neutral agents they were readily accepted with a degree of camaraderie. Her macro processing twitched. She witnessed herd cullings and large bestial engagements end in far more terror and aggression than this happenstance- she even saw warfare among other strains for territory and resources. And yet-

56 reached out and snatched the slug at lightning speed from the creature. He had stopped shivering for quite a time now. His macroprocessing played along, extrapolated and now asserted, this was an action of sharing, which can only be an act of live-giving sanctity. In the feeding that he had seen , brother and sister competed over food and yet a sparse few drones shared their bounty to others with greatest similarities to their genetic make up.

He crawled out of the water as if appearing like a ghost from nothing. His facial carapace broke open like an insect's mandible revealing a pale android with a featureless human shape. The intention of which was to let the S models act as secondary liasons for this indigineous race.
Wriggling slug in his hands and took a rehearsed bite of the creature and left it in the pit of his mouth. Micro sensors could not stop picking apart the molecular make up of the thing and it created distracting streams in his process.
    And then he chewed

The words were not unheard by her. She reacted to the noise from the older sibling with the same reaction any one would give, except the recognition of whatever meaning they had was completely beyond her. At least that was the reaction that was given. It was hard to determine if the stryker had any ability to emote beyond bewilderment.

The eyes refocused back on the two of them, holding out the slug more so in case they could not reach and it snatched its thin hand back when 56 grabbed at it. A clicking noise left its throat, head tilting upward and revealing less shadow of the cloak that it had wrapped around its head and frame. The face seemed like in was in the process of looking almost human like.

The exoskeleton had molded a distinct jawline across her generation and a mouth with distinct ability to enunciate words might be capable--but right now she was only making clicking noises with her throat, taking a few steps back when she watched 56 chew on the slug. Did she look pleased? Perhaps, the body language showed as such. A level of eagerness that wasn't quite bug like. It was..childlike.

She crouched again and dared to look back in the water, opening her mouth in anticipation as she snatched another grub from the water. Holding it out once again.

    56 looked at 54.

54 was not gonna have any of this shit.

    56 smacked a chew.

54 gave back a look of indignance as her facial carapace revealed another humanoid face. With an emotionless smirk her lips parted as she accepted the offer and de-headed the slug. Spat the end into the water and started to eat herself.

When he was done eating , 56 croaked open his mouth and replicated a soundbyte from scrambled together clicks. It was the voice of their host as she gave back gleeful expressions.

Was it thanks ? Was it acceptance ?

The model smiled as his teeth revealed blue sticky blood.

And that's when 54 fired her spongun at the center of the creature.
"Tag and bag, did you forget ? "

She shifted away, stepping a good distance away, closer to the shallow end of mud and water, turning her back to the two bots only momentarily before popping a squat on the bank. It observed as the two ate and digested the food however their bodies made them do it. It look fascinated as it watched the slug disappear into the gears and metal.

Head propped up by small hands it watched the smaller bot smile its geared teeth and reveal the blood. The stryker clicked in what could only be described as laughter, kicking its feet and covering its mouth--but the eyes shifted up to the larger one. The clicking stopped and the styrker's feet grounded on the mud, immediately pushing off like there were springs in her legs.

The gun shot but it missed as the styrker zipped up several feet into the taller branches of the trees. It clicked violently at the two, grasping hard onto the bark of the tree.
    >> OrbitalCommand !w68jcmPgR6 02/03/11(Thu)16:14 No.13768901
    " WHAT ARE YOU DOING ,56 - WE NEED SAMPLES ! "

56's core reeled. He was translating the hostile clicks but then found himself reaching for his gun. His eye traced the creature as she skipped between branches and spouted aggression at their diplomatic situation. At this point in time- capturing her WOULD be the only smart solution, as their numbers were only going to overwhelm them at this point. Sponguns flekked leaves and caused cross shaped holes to splatter against their great branches. A tree capable of holding up after a torrential storm torn asunder under a presumed "stun gun"

54's Facial carapace muted out the screams and the clicks as she studied its movements predicted every instance and entrapped her movements such that 56 would get a clear open shot.
" WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR BROTHER ! CAPTURE IT ! !"
56'S eyes were wide and lucid. His facial carapace exposed him to what could only be a flash as he pulled the trigger.

    FWECK

It reeled at the devastation the one blast could cause on the tree. Scuttling around it and viewing the damage up close, its head practically in the wound of the tree. She touched the marred bark and looked back at the two bots motioning towards the damage with a look of angry and surprised clicks. A second volley missed as it bounced from tree to tree, latching its fingers deeply into the textured bark.

It kept bouncing from place to place not knowing the every movement was a problem. And a problem that was severely and quickly analyzed, processed and calculated so 56's shot would not fail.

Standing on a branch for a moment the stryker placed its hands on its supposed hips. "You have got to be shitting me!" IT declared, though the the words were heavily accented as iff the creatures tongue had not quite found its way to properly working. The shot was fired immediately after and she clicked another exclamation, side stepping as quickly as possible only to get clipped in the wing.

And it tumbled hitting two branches on the way down as it tried to flap its wings harder to get airborne. It hit the mud with a loud splat and struggled to get up, the membrane of the wing pulsing weakly.

56 rushed quickly to its side. Protocol had him reach for the sedation injector but he stopped short of stabbing it down its chest as he realized how light and lithe the being was. She was fragile, as if held together by the winds that possessed her to jump from root to root.

" 56 ! " His sister yelled - his eyes narrowed as his arms held the subject against the injector. His facial carapace shut tight as the injector hissed.

For a time, he held the subject in his arms, 54 plodding up eagerly at their captured objective. Her hand reached out to a shivering younger brother - expecting to firmly soothe the buy of his conflicting processes. When suddenly a whirl of movement grabbed her hand, pulled her close to 56 and stabbed the injector into her flexior nodes. 56's eyes were a thing of bewilderment- neither side realizing what had just transpired.
    56 faked an injection shot.
and then turned it on his sister
who now lies limp on the water.
His arms were shaken as he also lost grip of the subject.
    >> OrbitalCommand !w68jcmPgR6 02/03/11(Thu)16:16 No.13768934
Covered in mud, the subject tried to most. Get out of the thick slop of water and earth but couldn't. Its wings were sloshed and the cloak that it wore became heavier. Too heavy for the stryker to move as efficiently, not that it would have liked to. It screamed in its clicking sort of way at 56 as it came at it, holding its arms up to shove at his face.

The little thing was kicking and clicking and hissing and then stopped when the injector pressed against its chest. It didn't move then, looking at the bot as he had used his free hand to cover its mouth. The clicking came to a minimum as it registered and understood his expression for her to be quiet.

It wrenched itself away when 56 let go, crawling in the mud to get at arms length away, clutching the nearest tree for support as 54 fell and lost contact momentarily with HQ.

"56! 56! Do you read!" came the voice on the comm. "We lost 54, is everything alright?!"
    >> OrbitalCommand !w68jcmPgR6 02/03/11(Thu)16:18 No.13768944
" The subject managed to strike sister unconcious ! Shall I pursue ? "

56 opened his mask again. His face and eyes traced at the subject and reciprocated newly synthesized clicks.

One which translated roughly to " Run far, seaslug"

The surprise across her face was human in nature, shifting on the mud to gain purchase on the ground. It recognized to word and moved to its command. It had to run. It couldn't fly.

That didn't mean it was incapable of being slow on the ground. One its thin legs got to running it was like it barely touched the ground, barely making tracks on the mud. It was an excellent runner.

"Do not persue. I repeat. Do not persue the stryker. Come back with an assessment of its tactics and traits. We need to know what this particular group had evolved into. It'll give us an idea of what weapons we need to take them down if it comes to that." came the crackled voice before the comms shut down.
    >> OrbitalCommand !w68jcmPgR6 02/03/11(Thu)16:19 No.13768956
    " Understood" 56 replied.

He turned to his sister who lied prone on the ground. He lifted her up and dislodged the injector which was stabbed deep into her body. He hadn't known what came over him at the time. Nor can he recognize why he even did the actions he did. He pressed his hand over the side of her helmet which forced the carapace masking to slide back. The blank face of his sister looking back at him blinked back as she adjusted her vision to the green flash of light.

The sirens of the Spongun ringed in 56's audio centers as he staggered back from 4 more shots and then a 5th one to his face which he had blocked instinctively with a his carapace mask.

One was usually enough to stop any living thing.
But for automatics like himself 5 or 6 would have ensured that his body wasn't going to go anywhere.
54 gingerly walked up to 56 , blasted his limbs until they bent at wierd angles, and then finally got close enough to press the fist sized muzzle against his temple.
    And clicked.
" Tch" 54 twitched. The spongun was overclocked from overuse.
She threw the gaudy thing to the side, and took 56's his motionless body submitted to her one-armed movements.
" If I brought you back to the data pool, you'd contaminate the whole system. " She submitted to 56. Though he had nary an answer for it.
Staring at him for a prolonged period of time, she finally cursed something unintelligible and then lifted his body from the tree that he was plastered against.
    And headed back.

She looked from high up in the trees. Blinked and found its mouth frowning at the scene. Nothing could be done however and it waited for the two bots to leave before resigning back to the hive.

"You know I don't..." Trinity's head tilted severely to one side, sucking in a sharp breath as he tried to process what was before him before letting his head twist back to normal. Waving his hands in front of him as if he was pushing all the uncertainty to let intelligence and logic flow through. "I don't think." Another severe tick and a woosh of air left his lungs. "I don't think this is normal." He finally said pointing at Beta 56.

He didn't really point at anything in particular he just motioned towards the whole body. "While yes. I'll give it to you that they are capable of quick decisions, its why they have a semi free will to begin with because if theres no free will theres no quick response time in shot gun situations but still. This is drastic. This is pretty intense of a feeling." He motioned with a circling of his arms, as if emulating the process of throwing up emotion.

"He's a baby. If anything, he should still stick to protocol not instincts." Trinity turned from the 'medical' table and turned to his colleague...who was nothing more than another bot.

ROBOT THEORIES RIGHT FROM THE IRC:

As confirmed in the story one of the bot models is S

The moddel seems to take place of class as weapon loadouts are custom.

    Other confirmed models are T, M, R, G, Q.

No idea what any of that means!

However what we seem to gleem is that T are big boys, S are scouts, and R has been described as "support"

    Guess away

    >>13769564
First, my ideas. Assuming the letters show up SOMEWHERE in the bots name

    S = scouts
T = terminators, titans, ect ect
M = not sure what this could be. i thought "matinence" as a sort of bot medic but that seems to be taken by the R.
    R = repair?
    Q = what the fuck uses Q?
G = grenadier. or maybe just a general model. One that can do just about anything the others can but not as great. your "jack of all trades"

Also the algorithms (this race) has no tanks, they make up for it by being crazy hard to kill and able to merge with scrap left by dead brobots to get bigger. Not sure if all bots can do this as a massive scout sounds kind of dumb

These ideas are from the crazy jump knight that is blaze:

my idea for the 3 types is use the light, medium, and heavy models of robots the robots each have two arm slots, each of which you can fit one weapon into
weapons, like robots, come in three size categories, light medium and heavy.

in simple terms, light robots can use 2 light weapons, mediums can use 2 med weapons, and heavies follow the same role

a robot can step outside of it's size category in weapons, but if they use a weapon 1 size larger than their own, they have to apply both arm slots to use it

EX: a light can use 1 medium weapon, and a medium can use 1 heavy weapon

likewise, you can go down, but it works the other way

EX: and a heavy can use 4 medium weapons, or 2 mediums and 1 heavy, or 8 lights

What was commonly referred to as the 'rec room' on the O'Reilly was actually a large open area with several siderooms separated from the main area by large panes of the same transparent proto-plastic sheets used in place of glass all over the ship. The main area has several seats around a view-screen that is normally tuned to some of the more popular sports with a small kitchen area nearby. A mural on one of the walls depicts a cartoonish looking CO with exagerated characteristics angrily jabbing a finger down on a remote while a soldier who had been doing well for himself in poker's head is exploding. The rooms off to the side contain pool tables, ping pong, VR sim equipment for various recreational activities (including some in more private rooms), and even a small theater.

Within one of these siderooms, a tv blared from a corner. "Continuing investigations into the attack on Prima Masquerade have yet to find any new information about the identity of those responsible, pirates are suspected. Survivors are currently being detained by the PDF while the Surf Islands and Archipelago Halcyon are on lockdown. When reached for questioning on how a band of pirates could slip past the PDF, Administrator Lovac declined to comment.

    "Ghost, shut that off!"
Ghost stands there while Geist lines up his shot. After it becomes clear Ghost isn't moving toward the tv Geist turns around and smashes the power switch with the cue, unintentionally knocking the tv off it's stand. Leaning against his cue stick, Ghost watches as the tv lands on the floor, screen cracking on impact. "Now I know you're still mad about having your vacation ruined, but that's no reason to take it out on the tv." Geist just glares at him. Ghost shrugs and begins aiming at the cue ball, "Besides, can't worry about Sigma now. Counter-offensive soon, we still have the Exalted to fight."

" Geist pauses while Ghost shoots before resuming, "Nice to see you're so easy-going about all this. Then again, you just train recruits now. Don't even step onto the field."
Ghost grins, "I get to yell at rookies all day while hanging the threat of detonation over their heads. Pay's not so bad either. It's great. That's in addition to our robotics work though. Having two sergeants in charge of Alpha in the field at once would just lead to confusion anyway." Both are silent for a moment while continuing their game.

    >> [K] Blaze !HeLloxNGm. 02/04/11(Fri)18:12 No.13782983
Blaze stood amidst a scene of carnage, caked in alien blood and entrails, knee deep in some Xenos' broken carcass, the blood seeping between the joints of his armor. He pulled his boot from it's guts just as another roach came forward to attack. The blade like claws of the beast struck against Blaze's shield just as he brought it up, angling the force of the blow into the ground. Shield slamming the back side of the blade with enough force to break the claw off entirely, Blaze drove his sword into the screaming creature's throat before dragging the blade downwards, splitting the carapace of it's underbelly and spilling it's innards onto the blood soaked ground.

Another Xeno came forth, lunging forwards with it's gaping maw. Blaze arced his sword around, bringing it down on the back of the creature's neck just as it was about to bite through him, running his sword through, embedding a good portion of the tip into the ground and pinning the Xeno's head to the floor. The roach, still alive, thrashed violently as it shrieked at him, trying desperately to pull itself free. Blaze looked up in time to see another xeno bearing down on him. Lacking the time to pull his sword from the ground, he rose his shield to block one of it's strikes. The other slipped past his defenses and pierced through his lower torso, slicing his kidney in half. He grunted as he grabbed one of the creature's mandibles, viscous saliva splattering against the visor of his helmet as the roach screamed in his face.
    >> [K] Blaze !HeLloxNGm. 02/04/11(Fri)18:13 No.13782998
Pulling hard, Blaze tore the mandible away from the Xeno's face, causing it to recoil in pain. Taking this moment to act, Blaze brought his fist down on his opponent's head, knocking it down slightly but failing to make a dent. He punched again, causing the carapace to deform, then again, causing a crack. He punched repeatedly, over and over, the force of his attacks driving the creature's head closer to the ground, unable to stand against the relentless hail of blows. Blood spewed from numerous fissures in the creature's skull as Blaze finally broke through, sending his fist into the brain. The roach twitched a few times, then lay still.

Blaze yanked his sword out of the previous xeno's neck, which had finally decided to aggravate it's own wounds to the point of death. He turned, hearing the sound of insectoid foot falls behind him, and was presented with what looked like a young woman wearing form fitting insect carapace, long scything blades extending from her arms. Blaze rose an eyebrow.

    "The fuck?"

    "SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEE."

Blaze rose his shield just in time to block a swift slash from the... xeno girl's talon. The weird-ass xeno chick kept swinging her blades at him, giving him no time to make a counter attack. Finally, Blaze charged forwards, pressing his shield against the girl's torso and carrying her with him as he ran forwards. The girl kept swinging at him even as she was being carried, until Blaze slammed her against a wall, cracking her chest carapace. He brought his sword down on her head as he stepped away, cleaving her skull in half.
Blaze turned away, stopping as he felt something tugging on his foot. He looked down to see a clawed hand gripping his ankle. The ground split apart, and another xeno chick rose from fissure. The earth fell away around Blaze as a horde of grinning, sadistic xeno bitches arose to tear him asunder. Which is exactly what they did.

Blaze arose from the VR station, looking a bit annoyed.

    "Protocol 182 has been compromised"
Soap stirred from his Psy-trance. Had he been discovered already? No it was too early, he had barely had accomplished anything that would leave enough evidence at this point. In any case, he had to investigate. He quickly leapt up from his cot, and took down the hallway. “Nike purge the all Psy links to that program and obscure adjacent nodes, I’m coming to see what happened for myself” The next instant Soap’s world had shattered. The physical world had split in front of him the sights he normally saw had grayed only the blue HUD gave any meaning to it. Not that Soap had any intrest in it now, No his attention was fixated of neon shadow of that world, infinite pathways of luminescent designs. This bright new world echoed the physical realm in spirit only each glowing glyph artistically rendered here, gave an indication of what it represented in reality. Still to Soap this was his reality, most of what he did now was to impose the majesty of this light-scape into dull material world. Ahead of him an incandescent being came into view.

In any case this was the time for self-reflection, “Nike prepare a secure link to compromised node”. Suddenly an irradiated path lead appeared before his mind and sped him to the desired location. Soap moved effortless with in both world while the dazzling world of lights sped and shifted around him he deftly raced through the halls to its physical location. It was truly a sight to behold as two worlds blurred around him ever while avoiding notice from both the system and his fellow meatbags.
There! He had found the problem!

Someone had accessed the VR Sims before he had finished his work. Calmly Soap focused of correcting this mistake. He took a deep breath and his flux flowed out from him. Nike would handle his body till he returned, he began to correct the mistake that had he had made. His flux flowed into the VR’s programming sculpting the data like it was made of clay. This was a small part of his grand orchestration, ever since they were blindsided by Sigma Soap had been haunted by his own ineffectiveness during that encounter. So he had resolved to make himself better. And this is where the VR training came into his plans. He was working on a way to improve his haunt field and give it far lasting effects. He had been experimenting with the VR rig to see if he could not add subliminal conditioning into his field. This would allow him to “Haunt” his foes for as long as their fluxes existed by imprinting his haunt field’s influence directly onto their flux. But this development had thrown quite a wrench into his plans first he had not yet perfected the subliminal aspect of the program and two he had not intended to test it on his Bravo compatriots but rather have his programs be placed into other units and study their effects, units ultimately like Sigma. He returned the VR program back to normal and scrubbed all signs he was there from the system. Luckily Blaze had triggered the program before Soap had began to install the subliminal aspect to it otherwise, well Soap didn’t want to think about what the preliminary testing had shown him.

Geist looked up, "You weren't on the Surf Islands during the attack, were you? Visiting a different part of Prima Masquerade? Guess that's why neither of us could find you." He grins, "Ghost had been thinking of taking you down to the surface. Don't look at me like that Ghost, you were!"

Ghost shakes his head, "Well, have fun down there? Do anything interesting?"

    She smiles

    “Yes, let me show you…”

She goes from sitting to kneeling, dragging a small length of the power umbilical feeding into her back into sight.

She opens a desk drawer and pulls out a small black box, evidently hinged with a spring as it flips open with the touch of a button.

From it she pulls a small silver chain, with thin silver tabs hanging on every other link for half its length. She attaches one end to her ear and the other to her nose via a typical clasp.

“What do you think? I saw something like it an old article about Earth, I thought the woman wearing it looked beautiful and I found one of the antique shops selling this.”

Geist is doing his best to stifle a laugh, the expression on his face telling of how ridiculous he thinks it looks.

Ghost just looks puzzled. Some sort of nose clamp that hung from her ear? "Well, you do look beautiful..."

    "Right"

She stands and smiles at Geist,

"Thank you Ghost" She says nodding in his direction

She meshes her fingers and holds them at her waist. Still looking at Geist.

    She says nothing.

Geist quickly straightens his face after realizing how he reacted. "It looks lovely, R00." He kind of glances to the side, now uncomfortable. He coughs, "Well... I have some business I need to take care of. See you around R00, Ghost. Take care."

"Later!" Ghost watches as Geist walks out of the service bay and turns right down the corridor.

After a few seconds, he shrugs and turns back to face R00. "So, is everything alright?"

Walker watched the screen. He couldn't believe it. Right underneath his nose.

During the fight at Prima Masquerade, Walker was surprised to find that Domino was present on the Surf Islands. Which he shouldn't have been, since he nor Fierstrom had authorized his release from quarantine. Sure, he was now an "ally," but neither of them saw any reason to expose him to the outside world.

A quick confirmation with the Section 6 revealed that they weren't aware of his presence on the surface until later, and had assumed that he was the reason they were deployed on the surface in the first place.

Completely logical, given the situation and the nature of their jobs.

    "Drrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaagoooooon!" he growled.

Walker stood from his command seat, and headed out of the Tactical Command Room. Everyone who saw his face looked away; Sergeant Hartford immediately stepped out of his way and followed behind him.

To say that a certain someone would die would be an understatement, the command crew silently thought.

    "I think so"

She descends back into her makeshift chair,

A faint noise could be heard, her jaw was moving laterally, half a centimeter or so. it centers bringer her face back into normal alignment, and correcting the distortion noted when they entered.

"You ever wonder Ghost, about the how odd your environment is? Everything needs to work just right. But just by being human your body produces chemicals that wear it. Your clothes become soiled, the metal rust where you leave a fingerprint. You design things that ideally you should never even touch"

" That the reason you called me ? Tell me how much you miss me ? "
" Yes, that is exactly it. We're waiting outside for you in the airlock, I can't wait to see you. Listen. The situation has changed on your end it seems- humans are fracturing over the insect prince. And there is no guarantee the feds will keep to their word- or even Bravo's word. And from what I hear , power to control the xenos are being handed out like noble titles, thus confirming human-capable use. "
    " So you smell a snake ? "
" Can't YOU ? Or has the reek of being around bears dulled your senses ? "

" Hhhhhhhhh , I see, left you there too long have we. Look. In the event that the shit goes down and chaos breaks out you know what your orders are- where your priorities are set. Bag the kid and get the hell out "
    " And the Custodian ?"
" Kill her if you have to. The point is that no feds get bug powers until all this settles down "
"What if it causes chaos to the hive they're controlling ?"
" Are we worrying about fucking bugs now ? You're talking about Bravo- they can handle it. "
" But they can't handle the ODF kill teams ?"
    " We're doing them a favor."

    The transmission cut.

And all around the ship and nowhere in particular, the overfiend on a red throne listened to the distant clicks of a lone soldiers' coded messages.

The only thing escaping him is who the sender was.

As a question to everyone, what are some suggestions to make the game run better ?

What would you sacrifice to make turns go faster for example ?

Or do you enjoy seeing giant pictures setting on fire ?

Aside from provisions already made to make the game run faster, I can't think of anything.

I can think of potential goals: like more communication between players, something to keep players, as well as something to ensure that phases don't take 1 hour due to the fuckton of units tossed on the field, but aside from some straightforward changes on part of the players, I can't think of anything you can do on your end to improve things.

Maybe a big old page containing all the rules and whatnot?

Geist is sleeping on his cot in his quarters.

The door opens a little, and a tall man slips through before closing it.

Quietly, he tip-toes on bare feet over to the side of the cot. From a pocket in his uniform, he withdraws a device and sets it on the pillow next to the saint's head. Geist hadn't been pleased when he found out about it, but he wouldn't need it for much longer...

As he pressed a button on the device, a blinking green light was the only sign it was active. From another pocket, he pulled a syringe and carefully applied it to the sleeping man's neck.

    *tsst*

He pocketed the empty syringe before retrieving another from a different pocket. One second. Two. Geist's breathing slows until it stops. The man standing over him keeps his eye on his watch as Geist's face begins to take on a blueish hue. Checking his pulse, it slows to a halt. On the device, the blinking green light turns red. Finished. Quickly, the other syringe is injected and the device retrieved.

Geist gasps for breath as the other injection takes effect, he slowly rouses to wakefulness. His quarters are empty, the man already gone as silently as he arrived.

Walker stormed down the corridors of the ship, headed towards the barracks. A quick check on his TACIM indicated where the deviant soldier was located. Along with three other soldiers.

Moving quickly, Walker had no time to process the fact that he simply "knew" the fear and curiosity that emanated from every person who practically threw themselves out of his way. The waves of fear as they saw his face, contorted with rage - he didn't even register the fact that he knew. No, he was too busy thinking up ways to punish the soldier.

He couldn't simply use physical force; prior experiences proved that it wouldn't work. No, he had to hit him psychologically, in a way that he wouldn't be prepared for.

Walker kicked down the door to the barracks, causing the idle soldiers within to scramble to their feet, with Sergeant Hartford following rather meekly.

    "OFFICER ON DE-"

    "SHUT IT!"

A squad leader immediately shut his mouth, breaking out in a cold sweat. He knew this wasn't going to be good.

"PRIVATE FIRST CLASS DRAGON, FRONT AND CENTER!"

The soldier stepped forward; a credit to him that he wasn't visibly panicking.

    "Sir! What do you-"

    *POKE*

    "AH-S*expletive*T!"

Dragon reeled, as Walker had poked him in the eye. Looming over him, Dragon looked up to see a twisted grin in Walker's face...
