50 KB Evil Quest: Part XXI Evil !!rEkSWzi2+mz 02/04/11(Fri)00:41 No.13774551
Open hostilities have broken out in the city of Angelfalls. You escaped your besieged underground cavern, at the cost of many of your minion’s lives and sacrificing your warship, but escaped with your life and struck back at the enemy. You have been escorted back to the citadel where the fighting nobles organize to take back the city. Catharine, due to her heritage as a Hinter, provided the legal loop hole that allows the humans of Angelfalls to fight back against the Elves. The city is currently under her control officially, although it seems Duke Gagné refuses to be far behind.

You stare outside through a stone archway and look over the city, most of it is controlled by your forces, but it is a weak hold, and although you outnumber the elves, soldier for soldier your men are no match. Catharine and the Duke both stand at a table that has replaced the Duke’s throne in the main court, which instead of nobles mingling is littered with boxes of war supplies.

From behind you can hear the duke summon you back to the table, “Femento, we need to finalize this plan of yours.” Laid out on this table is a map of the city. Markings and figures show the position of your forces and the estimated forces of the enemy.

Angelfalls Forces: 500 - Knights (Heavy Calvary), 2,500 Men at Arms (Heavy Infantry) 10,000 Angelfalls Levy (Light Militia Infantry, 2000 of which armed with Crossbows), 6 light cannons

Elven Vanguard: Approximately 4500 soldiers, 45 warships blockading the harbour.

A further rundown of the situation in a moment...
    >> Evil !!rEkSWzi2+mz 02/04/11(Fri)00:42 No.13774563
Objective: Take full control of the city, and prevent its recapture by discouraging further hostilities from the Elves.

Losing Conditions: Capture of Lady Hinter, You are defeated or control of the citadel lost.

*Reinforcements are currently not expected to arrive. Other nations are washing their hands of this incident, or have their own hands tied. The enemy may also receive reinforcements soon themselves. An eventual long march might compromise the rear of the citadel which is vulnerable to an attack from the rear. A plan for the distribution of forces and resources is needed, the elves will attack with their own plan, and you need to be best prepared to counter them or overcome their prepared defenses.*

    As for the map...

Best plan would be to set enough men to defend 13 and 12 from any counter attack and focus on taking 5 and 2. Seal off that side of the city from elven presence and we only have to defend the ports from further attack. Which would let us focus on the other side of the city.

The children are more valuable as a long-term investment and I don't think they'll be willing to power the crystal for us at this point since they're still scared of us except for the one kid.

After some thought in silence you respond to the Duke, "Take the bulk of the forces and secure the East half of the city. Attack from both entrances from the market and east Angelfalls."

The duke nods a few times with his chin held in his hand, "Yes, that seems prudent." He almost doesn't notice as you turn to leave toward the rear exit of the citadel. "Wait! Where are you going, that way is to the noble-"

"I will be taking care of something else for now. I will return when the fight is over."

The duke was ready to protest further, but Catharine gives a light cough and shakes her head at the Duke and thus he steps down. Then grabbing his helmet he leaves to issues the orders himself.

Willing has nothing to do with it, we just need their bodies. Whether we use them or not can be decided later, we should at least keep them close along with our dread mage to be. If I remember correctly we could slowly corrupt the crystal with our power alone, it just took time.

Do you think there will be time for a parlay before any major fighting? I think we have a strong legal case against the elves.

In the refugee camp, the scared citizens of Angelfalls those too young, old, unfit or cowardly to fight along with the women huddle in makeshift shelters. As you stride into the camp your arrival was not surprising, since seeing you arrive from a distance away is not hard at all. As you walk past with a modest escort of soldiers the people swarm begging for food and relief, there is fresh water for them to drink from the river, but they protest about their suffering. Whether you care about them or not...

Continuing your march you finally come across familiar dressed and forlorn looking men. They certainly look like sailors who have lost their ship. Seeing your arrival they salute at your arival.

"Yeah boss, wez got all dem guests of yers safe and sound. Few of the boys packed up and scrammed with others who done gone run further down river, don't expectin they be comin' back. What you wantin' to do wid em?"

    His name is Garreth.

    Andrea smiles, "Okay!"

You give a signal to one of the sailors waiting just outside and they file in quickly and round of the inhabitants.

"Take Gregor and the girl down the river to safety. I'll be taking the children with me."

    "And the other boys?"

"Tell them to be glad I did not have the time for them."

Sending the sailors down the river your escort of soldiers gathers up the children forming a square around them and leading them back toward the city. The people seem disappointed at the special treatment, but you leave them to starve so you're even.

Later you move to the west Citadel tower with your escort and the children. Climbing the stairs you reach the lighthouse itself and the large glass cylinder once again. The children behind you shake with fear, Garreth with hatred, you can feel him just waiting for a chance to attack. Andrea struggles to keep walking beside you.

With a clatter of boots hurrying up the stairs a messenger arrives, "Sir! The battle is joined in the city. The main elven force attacked trying to push into East Angelfalls, they are still fighting below. No word of movement in the west."

Oh, fuck, I decide to take a break from /tg/ and come back to find out I was missing Evil Quest.

Wait, why the fuck are we trying to power the tower before we've secured the city? Even if we burn the elven ships in the harbor we can't burn the city itself. And how the hell do you plan on making the kids who hate us power the crystal?! And why did you order the buildings set on fire?! We want to look like a savior to the humans, remember?

    Crap, what a mess.

This is a stupid plan, the crystal will work fine with normal magic, rather than experimenting, and possibly scarring poor little Andrea when we fail and turn her classmate into some kind of abomination, we should figure a way to make the kids want to channel their power into the crystals.

You beckon for one of the soldiers to bring one of the children over, they struggle and scream but one, a young boy, no older then 9 is dragged away from the group and pushed before you.

He tries to run away but you grab him by the arm and force his palm to lay flat on the crystal. Then you begin to pour your energy into the boy. You can feel your façade groan and crackle against the strain as black mist from your arm holding onto the boy sinks through the boy's flesh into him. That energy forces a blue aura out from the boy, your power and his magic power cannot occupy the same space, and yours is much heavier. It starts out slow but suddenly begins to cascade out of control from him. The boy groaning in pain from before starts to scream in pain, his entire arm turns bright blue as it pours into the crystal, and a thick line flows into the main one in the center of the room and the crystal slowly begins to shine.

However, from the boys mouth, his eyes and his ears blood begins to flow out, then into a stream as he continues to scream. You feel your façade shatter again and the lack of restraint when that goes has its consequences. You hear one pop, and blood oozes even more furiously from his ears. A crack, as blood flows from the boy's nose like a faucet. And then another pop as the boy's eye's explode and with one last scream hacked out from his mouth a blood and a strange unrecognizable lump of flesh.

The boy's arm goes limp, as does the rest of his body, as it still oozes blood.

    The center crystal shines dimly.

Well, kiss our army, respect, name, and city goodbye then.

We'll also have to evacuate Catherine.

The world will know about us, and from this point on the quest will be significantly harder. We can expect elf-led raids and holy warriors hunting us.

Evil, you're not really gonna penalize us because a few people made an oversight, are you?

Ok, so, our facade is broken, in front of many witnesses no less. And no way Andrea is going to retain her innocent view of us after this fuck up.

Maybe we can threaten the rest of the kids into charging the crystal willingly rather than have us do this to them?

Might be a good idea to have Andrea escorted from the room, without looking at her, don't want her to catch a glimpse of our face with no facade. .

With the boy limp and dead in your grip you call out to those behind you, "Take this....boy... away."

The group of soldiers look confused but one soldier comes forward and picks up the boy in his arms and turns to leave.

"Do not look upon him." And quietly to him, "Take him to the river, and dispose of him. Tell NO ONE of this."

With a gulp he nods and leaves quickly with the body. "And someone take Andrea away, she has done all she needs to do here." Another soldiers comes forward hesitantly and gently takes the girl by the hand.

Andrea looks on confused, "Did I do something bad? Why do I have to go? What happened?" Her questioning voice eventually fades away into nothing as she is taken down the stairs.

To the rest of the soldiers you order, "The rest of you stand guard outside. I do not need you cluttering up this sanctum."

Cautiously and slowly they file out, but they file out gladly and close the door behind them. Not a single child remaining dares make another sound as you back is turned to them.

It won't accept us, our magic is unnatural. All our experiment did was show us that we could force the natural magic from someone else out of their body and into a receptacle. That's good to know for the future but it doesn't help so much now, unless we WANT to kill all the kids.

    Rage at the crystal.

    No, seriously.

Accuse the crystal of "taking" the child, just an all-out manly-tears-of-rage bit. Slump down in front of it, turn on the faucet, yell out, "WHY?!"

Sure, they're crocodile tears, but our troops don't know that. If we're lucky, they'll believe us.

See, this is why I wanted more suggestions. It's possible for us to make them do it willingly, but if they panic we're screwed. We'll never be able to explain away all the bodies if we have to do this our self.

They need to be guided through it at least once, but if we actually face them I think they'll freak. And if that happens we're fucked.
