    Chapter 2 pt1: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/12385200/

You begin checking the display cases as Filigree bounds over to the door. The cases contain relics of the past. Carved statues of stone and metal and gilded decorative weaponry. One case in particular catches your interest. It contains a much older pattern of battle sister armor, as well as some of the older space marine designs and even a couple sets from the sisters of silence.

You leave it be for now, moving over and examining the ice. It must be 7 or 8 feet thick at the very least. If there was anything important behind it it would take some time to get through.

The vehicles didn't seem too damaged, but they were clearly nowhere near working order.

Filigree managed to sneak up on you again, putting her chin on your pauldron. "It's frozen shut. I can't tell if its locked.

Galatea and Alessa cautiously approached the vehicles, checking them one by one. They don't seem to find anything of importance, though Alessa attempts to loot a few mechanical components before Galatea makes her leave them.
    >> Anonymous 02/19/11(Sat)08:28 No.13958008

Esme gently pats Filigree on her head. “I'm sure you'd be able to unlock it anyway. We'll have to find a secure way to melt the ice, though.” As she ponders that idea, Esme moves over to Galatea. “Do you think one of these might fit sister Caramel?” she asks, pointing towards the display case containing the armour. “She really needs to get rid off that skimpy piece of heresy she's currently stuck in – it makes her nearly useless in this realm.” The Exalted Martyr pauses a moment to consider the behaviour of the corrupted sister. “I wish I could make her understand that it wasn't her fault...” Esme stops mid-sentence, quickly approaching Alessa. “Would it be possible to temporarily reconfigure the melta so it might melt the ice without damaging whatever is behind it?” “I have to conserve my powers, you know?” she adds hastily.
    >> Anonymous 02/19/11(Sat)12:24 No.13959275
I curiously peek at the armor. We could make Filigree a little better protected, or at the very least send some back to be used for spare parts and replacements.
The space marine armor intrigues me. If there is an older mark, or some terminator armor, we could potentially use it to gain favor with a chapter.
I try to look through the ice with my warp sight. The slumbering god is fond of tricks and hiding important clues, and this ice seems too good to be true.
If nothing is there, I ask Allessa if she could QUIETLY melt the ice on the door with her melta, maybe with a lower setting or something.
    >> His Divine Wrath 02/19/11(Sat)15:56 No.13961165

Filigree puffed out her cheeks. "But the pick doesn't fit into the lock!" The way she said it made it sound like an innuendo.

The Canoness frowns, leaning back and thinking a bit. "We can try to get Caramel into one of these armors, though she may insist on taking a more 'Gawain' approach to her situation. You'd probably have to convince her. As for Filigree... Well... ask her. Regardless of what you do you'll still have to purify those sets."

Alessa laughed. "I can melt the door... Hell I could punch through that ice! but there are no restrictors in this gun. It's all or nothing."

You extend your witch sight through the Ice. There is a door there. A maintenance closet of some kind.

Esme sighs and rolls her eyes. A maintence closet. Of course.
Are there any other doors that need unlocking? Any other exits around here besides the way we came in?
    >> Anonymous 02/19/11(Sat)16:25 No.13961429
We still have those thermite grenades the twins made?
    >> Anonymous 02/19/11(Sat)16:29 No.13961463
Esme shakes her head. "Let's save that for a last resort Alessa." She brings up the dataslates, hoping to get a clue, extending her own psykic aura to pick up something, anything, she might have missed.
"....Filigree- if you wore armor, would that restrict your movement?"
    >> Anonymous 02/19/11(Sat)16:39 No.13961544
An impatient foot begins to tap, beating out a stacatto beat that echoes in the freezing cold misty air.
"If we really need to- blast down the door. I don't think we have any other way of progressing in this case." Esme bites her lip, nervously.
    "Damnit all."
    >> Anonymous 02/19/11(Sat)16:40 No.13961554
"Hmmm, how about we convince Caramel to equip one of these and give her old one to Filigree?" Esme responds to the canoness. "Do you know which chapter she belonged to before she was captured?" As Galatea replies Esme is already carefully checking the different pieces of armour. Maybe there's even on that would be an improvement of the one she's currently wearing.

"I doubt blasting the door and the ice with the melta is a good idea. Without a restrictor, there's probably a good chance to destroy everything in the room behind that obstacle as well."
    >> His Divine Wrath 02/19/11(Sat)18:07 No.13962573

(the twins just made thermite. Not thermite grenades. They still have it with them.

You use your witch sight to scan the whole room. There appeared to be a small maintenance room hidden away behind the vehicles.

The dataslates show the room as it had been, several ghostly guards walking the halls. There seems nothing special about it.

Filigree laughed. "Ah... You're not putting any more armor on me. Even Caramel's armor is a bit much. I'm a daemonette!" She crossed her arms, letting out a long breath. "The armor I'm wearing right now restricts my movement. I'd rather be fighting nude to be perfectly honest. Of course in this weather I'd freeze my... tail... off."

You ignored the daemon's ear to ear grin, turning to Galatea. She nods, moving over to examine the armor. "She was a member of the order of the Argent Shroud. The only thing we can do though is send the armor back and see that its put to good use... Also I could smash down the door." she flexed her powerfist. "It will be loud though. Same goes for your powerclaw, and I don't think Filigree's lightning claws are a much better alternative.
    >> Anonymous 02/19/11(Sat)18:18 No.13962696
"Alessa, can you help us identifying these armours?" turning back to Galatea, Esme voices her idea how to deal with the locked doors. "I think my blade should be capable to cut through these doors without too much noise. I just need to concentrate properly."
    >> Anonymous 02/19/11(Sat)19:07 No.13963112
"Alright. I won't force you to wear anything else. And it's not like I'm going to strip you so that way you can change," Esme says, shuddering.
"I'll take the noise. I think that if we were going to attract attention, it would have been when that lascannon went off."
    >> Anonymous 02/19/11(Sat)19:24 No.13963228
"Filigree- make yourself useful and stop those horrible inneudos. There's a maintenance room behind the vehicles. See if you can open it." I say, steeling myself as I draw my blade. "... I really really hate this place. And to think- I used to love winter."
    >> His Divine Wrath 02/19/11(Sat)20:01 No.13963519

Filigree "humphs" and bounds off lightly toward the maintanance room.

Alessa glanced at the armors. "What... you mean date them? I'm a weapons expert. I know nothing about ancient artifacts."

Galatea moved slowly to Alessa's side. "What intrigues me is the armor of the Adeptus Telipathica on display here along side the armor of the Adepta Sororitas. Especially considering the Silent Sisterhood seemed to dissolve after the Horus Heresy. Since the eye of terror opened, many planets have passed through, or have been completely consumed by the warp. I can understand the realm bending in such a way to scare us, but this is unique. Such a young god would not know about the Silent Sisterhood. I believe that the god is using several consumed planets of long past to help the construction of this realm." She touched the glass. "Think about it. This place. It is like an imperial world crossed with a hive world. I have never seen its like before."

She shook her head, taking a step back and shattering the glass with her powerfist. "Regardless. If we intend to send them back, best to purify them and send them now. Regardless of if the armor can be used or not, such relics could offer great insight into the period of time between the Horus Heresy and the present."

You nod once as you raise your blade, cleaving the door apart. It remains firmly stuck in place, and now you can see why through the cut you made. There was a wall of ice behind it. You may be able to cut through it quietly, but it would be no short amount of time. Filigree bounds back over, a bucket on her head, like a helmet. She was wielding a mop like a staff, a huge grin on her face. "FUN STUFF!!! Also theres a weird egg in the closet."
    >> Anonymous 02/19/11(Sat)20:20 No.13963735
".... was it glowing Filigree?" I ask, turning towards her. "Like... ethereally sort of?"
I shake my head, and head over to the maintence closet. "Alright- if this is another chaos node, we need to move fast. Grab what armor you can carry. I'll purify it later. Alessa-melt the door."
I turn my blade over in my hand, and look through the door.
"Filigree- thank you for not touching."
    >> Anonymous 02/19/11(Sat)20:27 No.13963814
"Thank you very much Filigree." Esme says, patting Filigree on the head, which produces a dull hollow clanking noise as her metal gauntlets rap against her helmeted head.
"I think you might have found a node- points in reality where this gods power is most concentrated. Even if you haven't, this sounds interesting." She turns. "Show me where you found it. And Galatea- pick out the armor you think is most important, or valuable, or could be helpful. We might be leaving sooner then I thought."

    >patting Filigree on the head, which produces a dull hollow clanking noise

I'd say that happens every time anybody pats her on the head. Bucket helmet or not.
    >> His Divine Wrath 02/19/11(Sat)20:38 No.13963927

The bucket is shoved down over the daemonette's head as you pat it, making her stumble back a little.

You move quickly to the closet as Galatea works to remove the armor. You hear a hum and hiss as the melta cut through the door, and the distant sound of cracking concrete quickly followed by Alessa's "oops."

You reach the closet, looking inside. On the floor is a large purple egg, pulsing softly, slime and web like tissue covering the floor beneath it, though it differed greatly from the eggs in the sewers. It eminated an usually large amount of heat. Its psykic energy was very low, clearly not an orb of power. You could hear sounds as the creature inside moved.

Filigree popped up next to you. "I wonder what it will look like?" She grinned from ear to ear. "Better be careful Plumcakes. If you're the first thing it sees it might think you're mommy."
    >> Anonymous 02/19/11(Sat)20:45 No.13963993
".... 'oops'?" Esme turns around, holding the egg in her hands. "What was that 'oops' about Alessa?"

"Hrmm." Esme says, shaking her head. "Nevermind. You can hold off on that melting through the door Alessa- we may have more time then we think."
She winces when she hears the woman say oops. "Ah. What happened? Collapse the roof? Destroy some ancient artefact?"
    >> Anonymous 02/19/11(Sat)20:50 No.13964040
Esme prods the egg, uncertain. ".... do you think I should destroy it now?" She asks, biting her lip. "Or will it just attract whatever thing that birthed it?"

"Don't make me regret bringing you back to life." Esme grumbles after hearing Alessa's exclamation. Sighing, the Exalted Martyr decides to finish her current task before she'll chew out the insane sister and returns her attention to the egg.
"Now, what could you be?" she says as she begins to carefully inspect that thing with her witch-sight.
"Pet daemons sure seem to be popular right now..."
    >> Anonymous 02/19/11(Sat)21:04 No.13964159
"Sorry." Esme says, bending upwards, holding the wet sac in her arms. "False alarm. I was a little too hopeful. This isn't a chaos node- it looks like an egg.... larger the the ones of those crab monsters we fought Alessa."

Alessa laughed nervously. "Ah... mm... The beam kind of... cut through... more than one wall... Not completely though. Its just a hallway. Sorry... I tried to only tap the trigger."

Filigree shrugged. "I don't care. Kill it if you want. Knowing this god its probably something bad... Unless its not something bad. It could be cute like that puffball thing Caramel has." She gave a small squeal of delight. "Oh that would be wonderful! I'd name it Bon Bon!"

You hear rather than see Galatea carrying the armor back into the first room. It doesn't take more than a minute for her to transport each set.

"S'alright Alessa. Just be careful with that thing, alright? I don't want anyone getting hurt." Esme says, patting her on the shoulder. She considers the recently revealed room as Filigree prattles on. "I'm not certain about that- but we might as well wait for it to hatch. Who knows? Maybe it WILL think one of us is it's mama."
She follows Galatea, setting the egg down to concentrate on purifying the armor.

I smile with relief and pat Alessa on the shoulder as I investigate the revealed room. "Good, just as long as nothing was destroyed. Actually- breaking down the wall was a pretty good idea. Thanks."

Esme checks on Galatea and Alessa, sounding their opinions. "Do you think we should keep this egg? Logic would dictate that we should destroy it... yet- maybe we can make use of it, somehow. And if it hatches, we should be able to destroy the new born easily without it posing a threat."
    >> Anonymous 02/20/11(Sun)00:56 No.13966488
I shrug my shoulders, and simply say, "Suffer not the daemon to live. Except you, of course, Filigree," as I drive my power claw through the thing.
I don't want to leave a potential danger behind us as we move deeper into the facility.
"Thank you Filigree, you found a potential danger. You have redeemed your 'incident' with the urn."

Galatea walks over to you, looking at the egg disapprovingly. "Esme I think we've had enough heresy to last two lifetimes. I suggest destroying it." She cracked a weak smile. "I think I'll retire from the field of battle after this. Teach recruits at a schola or something. I'm getting too old for all this."

You tell Filigree to watch the egg as you go to bless the armor. It takes minimal energy to do so, the armor becoming pristine in an instant. You send the suits back.

You were just heading back inside when you heard Filigree squeal. You rushed toward her. She grabbing onto something that had latched onto her arm, watery black blood dripping from where it had sunk her teeth into her. The eggshell was in pieces nearby.

The Canoness was hesitant to strike, not wanting to hurt Filigree. The same could be said for Alessa.

    Agh. of course.

"I would like to think that you'll see that schola yet. On the other hand- I find it hard picturing you in any other capacity then smiting the wicked Galatea."
Esme says, chuckling. At the sound of Filigree squeal, however, she rushes over, trying to get a gauge on the situation unveiling before her eyes. "Damnation. Filigree, are you alright?" She says, flexing a hand trying to see if the thing is burrowing under the skin. She needs to act fast.
    >> Anonymous 02/20/11(Sun)03:54 No.13967995
For the record, I said to kill the thing.

I sigh and shake my head as I approach the Daemonette.
"Show me what it is," I order sternly, wanting to see it before I strike blindly.
I ready my blade, and patiently wait for an opening.

Esme carefully takes Filigree's hand from the thing on her arm and begins to inspect it. “Well, at least you're enjoying this. Right?” She briefly considers setting the thing on fire with her powers but decides against it. Doing this might hurt Filigree as much as the daemon attached to her arm. “I'll see if I can get this thing off without killing either of you.” as the Exalted Martyr finishes her sentence, she prepares to sent a jolt of her powers through the beast to make it release its grip on the daemonette's arm. “Ready? This might actually be unpleasant, for once.”

If she's successful, Esme will deal with the newly born thing depending on its reaction.
If it doesn't attack anybody else, she'll try to gain its trust. Attacking a daemonette isn't exactly the worst way to start one's life. “I can't really hold it against you, little... erm... thing? I'd do the same with any other daemonette. Okay, I'm often tempted to immolate this one as well.” If she has any kind of ration left, she throws one of them towards the thing. It's probably hungry.
If it attacks the others then it's toast.
Afterwards she approaches the wounded daemonette, who's probably enjoying her wound way too much. “Let me see that.” If Esme has no medical supply on her person, she uses a piece of cloth to staunch the wound. “I know you'd like to fight entirely unarmoured but you need to remember that Delessa would be rather displeased by your death. I doubt you want to make her unhappy... at least consciously.”
    >> Anonymous 02/20/11(Sun)07:25 No.13969169
The Exalted Martyr pauses as Filigree gives a particularly violent shudder. Before she resumes her work she gives her thanks to the Emperor that the daemonette is clothed and both her hands are in the open. “I think we should be able to cook something up for you that's more effective than what you're currently wearing.” Esme gives an evil smirk to her patient. “After all, you don't need to show off any more. You're in a loving monogamous relationship now. All right, this is as good as it will get. ” As she moves from the daemonette, Esme can't help but chuckle.

Once the situation with the egg spawn has been resolved, Esme turns to the canoness. “Emperor's teeth! You're not even 300 yet. Just take a break and get a rejuv treatment. I mean, you don't look your age but I couldn't imagine serving under anybody else. Your successor would probably also be closer to canoness Florencia than I'd like. I'd rather take my chances with the extra heretical inquisitor and her pet daemonette in that case.”

You take Filigree by the arm, the daemonette biting the thumb on her opposite hand. You ignore the grin on her face and take a closer look at the creature.

It's not horrendously big for such a large egg, about the size of a football with stubby arms and legs, no neck, covered in scales, and a mouth full of huge teeth. You gently remove it from Filigree's arm, ignoring the squeals of delight from the daemonette. It wriggles and thrashes in your grip, trying to bite your armor. It manages to wriggle free and skitters off into a corner, trying to make itself look big and hissing.

Both the Galatea and Alessa stepped forward.

"Do you want this one, or should I?"

"You're melta will destroy the wall. I better do it."

"Gatalea, would you be so kind as to kill it? Allessa, take one side, I shall take the other. If it tries to dart away, we can catch it before it gets away."
I study the beast as Galatea advances. It was odd, it must be a new design from the slumbering god. Maybe a design created to fight us?

Filigree backs off, still biting her finger and grinning. Her free hand begins to stray but the look you shoot her stops her in her tracks. The three of you advance on the tiny creature, having to heard it back into place several times as it attempts to dart away.

The moment it was cornered Galatea rushed forward, bringing her fist down on it. The impact killed the creature easily, its body being crushed with a wet crunch.

The canoness stepped back, shaking steaming gore from the massive weapon. "That was less than pleasant."

"Speak for yourself!" the daemonette chirped.

I sigh and shake my head. How Delessa handles her is beyond me.
"How are you feeling? Did it have any poison in its bite?" I ask, hoping that she'll be cooperative rather than talking about how aroused she was.

If the armor has already be sent back: "Alright, we've wasted enough time with this. Let's go through the opening that Allessa made. We have no time to waste."
    >> His Divine Wrath 02/20/11(Sun)22:02 No.13976657

"Surprisingly warm considering the weather." The daemon smirked at you. "But other than that I'm quite dandy my Beautifull Beguiling Bolter Bitch."

Her mouth stretching into an impossible grin, she made her way toward the next room. The Canoness decided against commenting, and grabbed Alessa by the collar of her power armor, dragging her off before she could comment.

You followed in silence. Filigree was out of earshot for the moment anyway.

When you reached the end of the hall, the daemonette had already removed what remained of the door to reveal another enormous expanse of a room. This one was filled with stuffed creatures from the old world as well as various planets, set up on display in replicas of their natural habitat. You couldn't identify most of them, but the ones you could all hailed from deathworlds. The center of the room was dominated by a huge display. A scaly beast with stocky treetrunk legs, no neck, and an enormous maw filled with irregular rows of jagged, razor sharp teeth. It had to be close to 10 meters tall, chunks of its body peeled back to show the layers of muscle, bone, and organ underneath. A small display stand in front of it showed a tiny silhouetted version of it, different parts of its body numbered. Next to it were labeled descriptions of the numbered parts in a language that resembled might have been the equivalent of low gothic before several thousand years of linguistic drift.

You felt a pulse of energy, glancing up quickly. You noticed something glowing between the creature's ribs. Another orb.

I whistle appreciatively. "So that's what that little bugger would have grown up to be," I whisper to the others.
"That's our target, Sisters, the light inside the creature. Keep close, and don't get seperated. This place screams ambush," I warn as I slowly move forward, keeping to the wall rather than walking between the rows of animals.
I wonder where Filigree has gotten off to while we move up. This close to the orb was sure to be dangerous, and I hope that she hasn't done anything TOO stupid.
"Keep an eye out for exits, too. Once we destroy this orb, we are going to have to clear out post-haste."

You begin to spread out when Filigree pops up behind you, grabbing your arm. She does the same to the other two sisters before moving back to your side and point at the enormous creature.

"Filigree, I don't-" She shushes you. You continue at a whisper "I don't see what you're... pointing... at..."

Did the creature just twitch? You looked closer. It did! You activate your witch sight. The orb's energy was feeding into the huge creature. Destroying it would probably stop the creature... You hoped.

You looked around the room. Several of the nastier animals were beginning to glow, but they didn't have the energy built up that the enormous creature did. They wouldn't be coming to life yet, but dally too long and they might.

Filigree gripped you tighter. "Zombie deathworld monstrosities..."

... "You mean I was right about the creature coming alive to attack?" Esme asks, a little dumbfounded. She shakes her head. "Nevermind." She flexes her power claw and jumps up, climbing the writhering living statue to reach the orb within, hands afire with burning holy flames. When she reaches the orb she crushes it in the palm of her hand and jumps down, running as fast as she can and prompting the others to follow likewise.

I nod, and thank Filigree politely. "Allessa, I do believe that you have a solution to this? Would you please remove its legs? Filigree, stay here and guard Allessa with Galatea, AND DON'T DO ANYTHING STUPID."
As the massive beam of energy rends the beasts lower body, hopefully preventing it from attacking until I can deal with the orb, I dart forward.
I leap with a slight push from my psychic powers, aiming for one of the portions with exposed organs.
My claw drives forward first, followed swiftly by my sword, and I tear my way through the relatively soft tissue.
I had only to reach the orb, and this was all over.

Filigree tugs on your sash as Alessa prepares to fire. "I wanted to visit the gift shop before leaving."

You're reply was cut off as Alessa fired, the massive death ray shearing the creature's legs off like a hot knife through butter. The beam kept going, annihilating several exhibits behind her target.

The creature roared as it fell, dropping its guise of stillness. You dash forward. It slashes at you with its enormous claws, forcing you to jump back and away. You feint left and rush it again, Galatea attempting to get around it, looking for an opening. Alessa had backed up to the wall, letting her melta cool before she fired again. Filigree was running around the room, annihilating the creatures not yet animated. The last thing you needed was fighting multiple opponents.

"Could have gone better, could have been worse," I mutter as I look for an opening to strike.
As the beast lashes out with its claws once more, the lack of legs causes it to fumble.
Grinning, I take the oppurtunity and drive forward, raking the thing's arm with my claw as I pass.
My blade slams home into one of the gaps, my impact causing a few of the bones to buckle.
"Galatea, strike now!" I shout as I disengage and dart back before the beast can lay hold of me.

Esme curses. "Damnit. Why can't things stay dead?"
She runs forward, avoiding the clumsy blows of the crippled beast, drawing it's attention as much as she can, keeping it away from Alessa or Filigree and hopefully giving the demon hunter enough time to line up a clean shot.
"Galatea! You take the tail end, I'll take the mouth!" She shouts, throwing bolts of holy fire at the things sensory organs.

    (don't forget your ZEAL :P)

The creature writhes and turns, slashing at you. It manages to disrupt your charge, part of its arm hitting you in the side, sending you flying.

Galatea manages to reach it though, leaping onto its back and bringing her powerfist down hard on its spine. She was rewarded with a wet cracking sound and a shirek of pain from the creature. It attempts to twist and reach back to strike at Galatea, now very clumsy due to its partial paralysis. It didn't manage to reach her but its thrashing sent her flying, landing on the far side of the room with a crash.

Alessa let loose another shot, lancing off the creature's arm.

Filigree had only managed to destroy a small portion of the creatures, many of them starting to stir already.

The creature roared in anger, its body glowing with power as the orb reached out to defend itself. The behemoth began regenerating, the new limbs bladed and armored. It could not yet stand, however.
    >> Anonymous 02/21/11(Mon)21:23 No.13990215
I watch in horror as the beast begins to regenerate.
We could not afford to destroy the thing by wearing it down, an overwhelming strike was needed.
"Filigree! Use your Lash!" I cry. If she could stop it for just a few seconds, I could land the killing blow.
The daemonette, listening to me for once I notice with a grin, quickly rolls away from some strange mixture of bear and owl and uses the lash against one of the open wounds on the beast.
As the thing starts spasming from the pain, I begin a low chant, "Hatred is my sword, contempt is my shield..."
A low glow suffuses the air around me as I begin to move towards the weakened vertebrae.
"These are gifts from the Emperor, use them to drive back the darkness!"
My blade slips through the shattered bone, and I send a powerful pulse through it to prevent regeneration and to clear a path to the thing's organs.
"IN THE EMPEROR'S NAME," I screech, the skin blackening and crumbling, and I drive my claw forwards towards the soft organs.
I begin to claw my way through the innards of the beast, ripping at anyting vital looking with my claw.

"Goddamnit." Esme says shaking her head. "Switch up! Galatea, destroy the reviving figures. Alessa get, your ass in gear and shoot the bullseye! Filigree, get ready to switch over to the monster if it manages to completely regenerate."
Esme steels herself, and begins her attack on the dread beast's beating heart, chanting under her breath.
"The first thing the Emperor did was to make himself. The second thing the Emperor did was to make man. The third thing the Emperor did was to teach men his love. The fourth thing the Emperor did was write the laws. The fifth thing the Emperor did was to make the stars. The sixth thing the emperor did was to light the way.

Sword in one hand, claw in the other, Esme recites to herself the litany of stealth silent movement under her breath, willing herself invisible for a momemnt and undetectable by all. She lunges forward, still reciting, hoping to take the monster by surprise.

Filigree lunges at the daemon, landing lightly on top of it, her lash digging into its skin. The creature squealed in pain, though the lash didn't seem to be able to create the unbearable agony in such a large creature that it did in others.

You flicker out of existence, whistling through the air like a rocket, slamming into the beast's side. You broke its ribs easily, burning and clawing into its chest cavity. You rip and tear at its innards, your claw finally closing around its heart. The fragile organ shudders as you crush it, the spurting blood evaporated by holy fire.

The beast gives a great shudder and groan, collapsing as you drill straight up and out of it, the remains of its heart in your claw.

Alessa aims and fires again, the multimelta incinerating much of the creature's body, revealing the shuddering orb. Without its host, the orb twitched and few here and there, completely disoriented at its sudden lack of senses.
    >> Anonymous 02/22/11(Tue)16:43 No.13999925
Damnit, I saw that too late.

Anyway: I drop to the earth, and walk to the twitching orb. "Stand back, Sisters, once I destroy this thing the reality of this area will collapse. Try to find an exit, and bolt the moment that I strike."
I lift the orb out of the steaming carcass like I did with the one in the sewer, and launch a bolt of the Emperor's light into it.
The impact sends the thing flying, but I do not wait to see the result.
I run for the exit, dragging Filigree behind me by her collar. It was shiney, afer all, and I couldn't risk her being distracted.

Blow a blood caked lock of hair from her cheek, she turns to the others. "Good job! Keep the rest of the reanimating figures busy- I'll handle the orb."

You bolt strikes true, sending the orb flying and smashing against the far wall with the sound of breaking glass. Almost instantly the world around you begins to buckle and twist. The exhibits around you freeze and drop to the ground instantly, dead once again.

Filigree, Galatea, and Alessa rush back the way you came, not trusting the deeper areas of the museum. You run after them, grabbing Filigree as she is distracted by some shiny thing, managing to get out just as the entire room is obliterated. The roof above you shudders but holds, Filigree wiggling from your grip.

You stop, Galatea and Anna also slowing to a halt. You risk a glance behind you.

Daemonettes. Daemonettes, Fiends, Keepers, and Mounts.

Filigree squealed with joy. "Oh! Oh! I know her! I know her!" She rushed over before you could stop her, tackling one of the daemonettes. "TREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!!!!!"

Both went down with a crash shouting and speaking quickly. After a few moments, however, both Galatea and Alessa were forced to avert their eyes as the heresy began to escalate.

You nod to your companions as they approach the crack. "Please tell Evangela and the twins I'd like their assistance." The sisters nodded, Filigree scurrying back with several pieces of fine jewelry. "This one's for Quizzy!" she held up a necklace with a delicate gold wire aquila wrapped around a surprisingly large emerald. "It had a very big paragraph next to it, so it MUST be important! Also it matches her eyes. She could use more shiny bits that match her eyes."

She continues to ramble as you purify her selections and literally drag her to the crack. The two sisters had already stepped through.

"-which is why... Oh!" She slapped a gold eagle on your chest. It had only one head and had a skull emblem pressed into its center. "It was next to a picture of a guy in big shiny gold armor. I thought you needed more gold shinies." She hopped through the portal before you could give it back.

You sigh deeply and stand in the portal. It was several minutes before you were shoved forward by the twins, Evangela hot on their tail.

Evangela stumbled back, losing a few feathers as she flapped her wings to regain her balance.

"Ugh... Disorienting doesn't even begin to cover it..." She was glaring at the twins who just smile sheepishly.

The twins nod in approval. "It will be a lot easier"now that the storm has stopped." You look at them strangely. "listen to the wind."It's not howling anymore."

You paused to listen as Evangela and the twins look at the emblem. It was true. You could no longer hear the storm. It probably vanished when the orb was destroyed.

The twins shake their head when you inquire about the trinket but Evangela crosses her arms. "I've seen it before, but I don't remember where."

You walk over to the exhibits where Filigree took the trinkets. The text was old. Too old to read after what must have been thousands of years of linguistic drift. The text next to the necklace had no picture but the golden eagle's case did. It was a painting of one of the Adeptus Custodes. Filigree must have found one of the emblems... either that or the emperor made it catch her eye. You smiled weakly to yourself.

Evangela strode up next to you. Her eyes glanced at the picture and back at the emblem but she said nothing. "The twins need to talk to you... Privately." She frowned. "I'm going to go keep watch. Finish what your doing and talk to them quickly" And strode out the door. She did not seem pleased in the least.

I pause, look to the Twins to make sure they want this, and then continue, "Tessa stayed behind to allow us to destroy an orb. I have no idea where she is. The Twins have a strange...connection to each other. It is a very low-powered psyker connection, and they think they can use it to find her."
I step forward pleadingly, "I know that it might be considered heresy, but we must do all we can to fight this unborn god. I will take full responsibility for their actions. Please, Sister, will you still aid us?"
    >> Anonymous 02/26/11(Sat)15:13 No.14051016

"No,... not really." Esme pauses briefly, trying to decide how to break the news to Evangela. "We've been skipping formalities, so first of all; Welcome to the freezing realm of chaos. Emperor willing, no human will ever have to lay eye on it again once we're done here." As she finishes speaking, the Exalted Martyr walks briskly towards the saint. "Secondly; Welcome to the group." To underline her point, she pulls the saint into a fierce hug. "We're glad you're here." Esme adds while giving Evangela an honest smile. "I'd also like to apologise for being so rude not to include you earlier. It's just that.. well... having an actual living saint around is a bit imposing. I hope you can forgive our mistake." "Secrets don't really go well when the four of us have to trust each other with their lives."

After giving the saint some time to aclimatise herself, Esme continues. "So what we're trying to do at the moment is finding both Tessa and another of the foundations of this realm. Problem is, what we're planning to do is a bit- unusual. Say, how much do you know about how my powers came to be?"

But, they think that they can find a sister who had decided to act as a rearguard in this realm. Tessa. Someone very dear to me."

Evangela paused before returning your hug, though a bit stiffly. She pulls back swiftly, looking a little happier, as you begin to explain the situation with the Tessa to her, making an extra effort to stay calm as you do.

You ask Evangela if she knew how you obtained your abilities. She did not.

You quickly give her a summarized explanation starting from your assigned mission up to your ascension when fighting Miriael and what you theorized happened to give you such abilities. Evangela's expression broke a bit, though it was still impossible to tell what she was thinking.

You quickly tie it in with the twins, the living saint arching one brow at the seraphim.

There was a pause as you finished, Evangela pinching the bridge of her nose, letting out a breath. "If you weren't clearly burning with holy fire I would accuse you of heresy and run you through with my sword. Seeing as you are clearly not a heretic I'm just going to call it His divine will and let it go. I'm not in a position to judge you, nor do I care to."

"...-but considering all that I've witnessed in the past... well, DAY... I really think that's the least of our worries. I have heard of this happening between identical twins, though it is exceedingly rare. The Inquisition often tries to quiet such things. I'm not sure exactly how the connection works but..." She frowned. "You share a warp signature but not a soul? You have identical warp signatures? I can't remember the details but you grow in power as time goes on." She waved them off. "Regardless, you should have separated you at birth. You would have never developed these abilities if that had been the case." Her face softened a bit. "I am glad you are here though. I've seen you two fight and I could not ask for better companions in this place. If it is any comfort to you, I have never known the connection to naturally grow to a point where all sense of identity is lost, nor have I known it to develop to a point where abilities other than the most basic of witchsight is obtained."

The twins had shrunk back as Evangela spoke, gaining a bit of confidence back toward the end. ""We just don't want to be removed from the sisterhood...""

The living saint placed one hand on each of their pauldrons, bending over slightly so she was at eye level with them. "We are in a realm of chaos, fighting for our lives against unspeakable odds and abominations inconceivable by human minds and THAT'S what you're worried about? Emperor... If by some MIRACLE we survive all this I will certainly not speak against your worthiness to be called Sisters."

I kneel with them, and slowly focus my thoughts on Tessa.
At first, I begin with the time that I healed her eye. I let my mind wander through my memories, the fighting we did together, escaping the planet.
I eventually settle on my love of her. I run through all of the minute details that I remember, the way that she moves, her scent, her rakish grin.
As my mind wanders, I clutch her eyepatch close to my breast. I can not fail her. Not now.

The twins kneel down in front of you. You feel rather than see the twins edge nearer, their eyes closed, their heads bowed. You could feel their minds brush against your own. With such a close proximity, the differences in their mental imprints were obvious. You struggled to memorize them quickly.

Then, all too quickly, their minds dissolved together, both twins grimacing. Their combined minds were much stronger psykicly than they had been apart. You could feel their surface thoughts drifting through your mind, though you tried to block them out as best you could. You focus instead on Tessa, feeding the twins your memories, the mass of combined consciousness examining each one with care.

Time seemed to stall, stretching moments into hours. You weren't ready for what happened next. You knew where Tessa was. The knowledge hit you with the force of a thunderhammer. For one glorious instant, you knew where she was. She was alive, but severely weakened, and surprisingly far from here. The twins had given their knowledge to you.

You nearly withdrew your mind when you remembered the plight of the duo. Without focus, their combined thoughts had swirled into a maelstrom of confusion. It took a surprisingly large amount of power to bring them under control, struggling to keep your focus clear as you began picking the fearful mass apart. It took what felt like an eternity of tedious work to set their minds in order. You had to struggle to keep your mind from straying to Tessa. Emperor damn it! Rodwen would have be able to do this much faster! Even Chloe would have helped. At least she had some experience with her psykic abilities. Although, you glaze over each of the twins minds once more, you doubt either of them could have done a better job in the end. You wiped the sweat from your forehead from the mental strain. Power was nothing compared to the effort of precision.

You became aware of a hand on your shoulder. Opening your eyes, you glanced up to see Evangela. She was looking at you with concern. "You tensed up and spasmed suddenly."

You ignored her question for now, looking to the twins. Both were flushed and disoriented, one of them cradling her head gently, the other leaning her head back against the wall. You brushed your mind over theirs once more. They seemed fine, though the part of their mind that they did share was churning unpleasantly.

Esme draws a deep breath before responding to the saint.
"The procedure was a lot more complicated than we had anticipated." She answers before nodding towards the twins. "If your powers extend to soothing their pain without putting a bolt in their head, now'd be the right time." Seeing Evangela's confusion, Esme continues speaking. "We managed to locate Tessa but I had to separate their minds afterwards. I'm not really experienced in using my powers for anything other than smiting the foes of the Emperor, so it took a lot of effort. They are even more exhausted than I am." Esme pulls close to the saint whispering "They must have the worst headache imaginable." in her ear. After answering her companion's question, the Exalted Martyr moves over to the twins.
"Thank you, I'm sorry but I can't do anything about the headache." "Carol, Coral" she hugs the twins, easily distinguishing them after their experience. "Would you prefer to take a rest in the materium? I can't really expect you to continue after what just happened."

I smile shakily at the living saint, and say, "Thanks for your concern, but no need to worry. We're fine."
My smile widens, and I stand upright excitedly. "And more importantly, we know where Tessa is."
My weariness becomes unimportant as fresh hope washes through me. We could save her still!
I stride to the Twins, and pull both into a fierce hug.
"Thank you so much," I whisper.
Once the Twins have recovered, I say, "Let us move. We have no time to waste, and every second we are here Tessa is in danger."
As we stride through the doorway, I look to both of the Seraphim, and ask, "Are you feeling up for that carrying trip again?"

If so, Evangela can follow us by flying, and we can get there posthaste.

Esme straightens up, her head spinning. "It.. it's done Evangela. It was harder then I could have ever imagined, but it's done. We found Tessa." She chews her fingernail, and looks over to Carol and Coral. "How do you girls feel?"
    >> His Divine Wrath 02/27/11(Sun)03:14 No.14059839

The twins manage to look at you wearily. They were very pale but managed to climb shakily to their feet. ""We'll be fine in a bit..."" They were cradling their heads in their hands.

You give them a few minutes to regain their composure, looking around. The room had been stripped nearly bare, only a few bones from the once enormous creature remained. Several daemonettes scurried in to pick them up, running off with them. Just how long had that taken?

You shake your head. The sooner you leave, the sooner you can find Tessa. The twins were already staring to look better. ""No loud noises or bright lights please....""

Evangela pulls out a couple ration blocks from one of the bags on her belt, handing them to Carol and Coral. "This might help a bit."

The twins accepted, quickly eating, despite the block's horrible flavor. They both took a deep breath. ""Alright. We'll take you seeing as our jump packs are most likely the quickest way. We would like to return once our minds have calmed though.""

A muscle under Evangela's eye twitched. Having the twins speak in unison was a bit disturbing for her.
    >> His Divine Wrath 02/27/11(Sun)03:15 No.14059848

You move quickly outside. The realm seems even more destabilized, some of the walls actually shimmering as the souls used in their construction and restoration struggled to break free. It wouldn't take much more to topple it completely.

The twins fire up their jump packs, one of them hovering behind you, Coral, you noted, and picked you up. Her sister gingerly picked up the living saint, careful not to hurt her wings. ""Better than exhausting yourselves."" and shot off.

traveling by jump pack wasn't as fast as last time, the twins wanting to move a bit slower to keep their packs from overheating. The wind chill helped, though by the time you landed the twin's teeth were chattering. You looked around. You were on the far edge of the city now. This is where Tessa was when you sensed her last. Glancing down, you notice shallow foot prints in the slush, heading down the gentle slope and toward a very large colored tent like structure surrounded by other small buildings. It wasn't clear what purpose they served from such a distance, but you had a feeling.

With so many debris, there could be anything lurking in wait, but the longer you waited the more danger Tessa was in. True she had survived thus far, but the God was probably far more pissed than it had been before.

I bump up the aura on the Twins temporarily. They needed to warm up, and it was the least that I could do after the help they had given me.
I look to the Sisters around me, and simply say, "Well, let's not keep her waiting. Be careful, and move quickly."
I extend my warp sight as I move, feeling for any potential threats as we moved.
I could feel my pace increasing as the footprints grew fresher. She was so close!

"We really need to hand out coats to the next group supporting me" Esme thinks after considering the state of the twins. Meanwhile, she continues approaching the largest tent, although she practically knows that it must be a trap. "Be ready for anything, the god tried to fool us once before." As she finishes speaking to her comardes, Esme activates her witch-sight once again. "We've got to hurry, the sooner we get Tessa out of this realm, the better.

Galatea was talking about how we have a resivoir of power given by the Emprah.
Going out on a limb here, I think the power kind of cancels out Chaotic power.
We might be able to kill it by dumping what remains of the resivoir into the god in some giant energy bolt.
We'd be completely drained and powerless afterwards, but we might have permanently killed the god's power.

I have to agree, but I don't really see how else to do it.
Our powers didn't exactly come with an instruction manual, so I think we will just have to see in the coming battles if we can figure something out.
Maybe we could bring Rodwen back and talk with her?
That idea was my best case scenario anyway. The worst case is that we somehow have to asorb the thing and kill ourselves.

Maybe we can somehow set off a chain reaction so that the dormant god's powers and whatever the big 4 have already thrown into its realm cancel each other out?
That way we'd have managed to not only destroy our newcomer but also weaken the others.

Or act as a siphon, and draw the power away to another source.
Asorb the power into our resivoir, and dump it somewhere else.
The only problem being, of course, finding somewhere to dump the power.
    >> Anonymous 02/27/11(Sun)17:02 No.14066018

I don't think it works that way. Knowing how OP works she'll most likely pull a Grey Warden on us or something. Remember, the gods themselves constantly absorb more power from lesser warp creatures.

If we weaken the god enough that the swarm of daemons can destroy it, then that means the god didn't have a TON of power left.

It means the Chaos Gods wont gain all that much by eating it. I mean its being split four ways.

The twins nod gratefully, their shivering lessening. Their minds were still in disarray but they were far calmer than before. They would be ready to go back soon without arousing Florencia's suspicions.

You begin to make your way toward the tent. The way was a bit difficult, Evantela's mere presence melting the snow around you, causing the way to become even more slick. At about the 3/4 mark, you nearly trip over a chunk of metal hidden under the snow. You turn and examine it more closely, the color draining from your face as the snow around it dissolved. It was Tessa's evicerator. The enormous sword had been snapped or sliced in half by something, the metal mangled and twisted. The flamer that Tessa had bolted to it still looked functional, but it was out of fuel.

The twins looked worried. Evangela's face was guarded. She nodded once to you and let herself rise into the air, gliding down toward the tent. The twins do the same with their jump packs. You stay there a moment longer before following suit, using your power to propell yourself forward much faster than the others had.

You skid to a stop in front of the tent. Now that you were closer you could see the massive amounts of debries scattered around the area. Danger here was immense. An ambush could be launched from anywhere.

You were about to enter the tent when a flicker of movement caught your eye. Before you could react, the twins cried out. Carol of them had been clubbed over the head with a metal pipe. Both twins fell, Carol unconscious, Coral clutching at her head, whimpering in pain.

Evangela reacted immedeatly, her chainsword roaring to life, blinding the twin's assailent, the light glinting off the gold trim on her badly damaged power armor. Her sash was badly ripped, the strip of cloth tied tightly around her head, covering her left eye.

You felt your heart begin to sink. She was hallucinating. You gently reached out with your mind, brushing against hers. You were only able to glance it before a litany filled her head, expelling your mental probe. There was no doubt this was the real Tessa and her mind had started to buckle under the strain of this world.

"Oh fuck!" Esme allows herself one moment of shock before moving into action. Positioning herself between the confused sister and the twins, she frenetically tries to come up with a plan to disable Tessa.
Searching her memories for a mistake the other sister usually made during their sparring sessions or anything that might help her in this moment.
As she wraps her opponent in a protective aura, Esme signals Evangela to distract and, if possible, disarm Tessa. As soon as she's subdued, Esme moves to the injured twin. "Please be careful not to hurt her Evangela, just give me a second to see if Carol isn't seriously injured."

I don't think she's... It might be best to grant her the emperor's mercy. To have your mind torn apart by chaos is a terrible thing and I don't..." Her voice trailed off as you shot her a look, the living saint bowing her head, stepping back to tend to the twins.

Tessa paused for a moment as your aura wrapped around her, her shivering lessening. She hesitated, baring her teeth. "I'll have no more of your tricks daemon! Get out of my head!" She gripped her hair, baring her teeth to you. "She will destroy you... No matter what you do to me, she will obliterate you! And there is nothing you can do to stop it! The Exalted Martyr pauses for a few moments before continuing, visibly having problems to keep her cool. "If I didn't care for you deeply, I would have already knocked that silly stick out of your hands and beaten you within an inch of your life for attacking a fellow sister... and I'm tempted to actually do that to you for running off in order to enact some crazy plan of yours!"
"You are in no condition to fight - and you don't need to. Not now. You're with friends, you're as safe as you can be in this realm." Esme flashes Tessa a brilliant smile, and with the application of a tiny of her powers quickly closes the distance between them, easily holding the other sister's arm to keep her from attacking with the pipe. "I've always been the better sword fighter." she calmly whispers as she holds the confused sister close. "Do you really think I would give you up? I didn't when you were a wreck after the slaaneshi were done with you and I won't do it now." Pressing her forehead to the shivering girl's she continues. "I trusted you with my life when I healed your eye, you could have granted me the Emperor's mercy back then and I wouldn't have had a single regret in my life as long as you made it out of there." You gently brush against Tessa's mind again. She was too distressed to notice. As tangled as it was, it was still Tessa, down to the very last detail.

"I can see the Emperor's light in you Esme..." She sniffed, her arms tightening around you. "I'm so tired Esme. Exhausted... But I can't go yet. It says I'm not done." She shook her head. "No , I cant." Esme once again squeezes the girl in her arms. "So allow me to be blunt, just this once - what the Emperor is going on?" she speaks before worridly looking over to Evangela. "You do know that I'm not really in the mood for riddles, right?" whispers the Exalted Martyr, all the while closely inspecting what might be wrong with the sister standing in front of her. "I don't really want to end up with a Tessa-shaped servo skull after saving the universe. I'm sure that's your opinion as well." as she finishes her sentence Esme allows herself to exhale and visibly slacken. "We've managed to overcome so many things, we've survived against all odds. And you really think I'd let you go?" quite unexpected by her love, Esme lets go of her. "If you thank that I wouldn't brave this realm, naked, for a thousand years for every single one of my companions, that you're mind is in worse shape than I thought." "Now tell me what's wrong" she pauses a bit "so I can save the day, again." as she finishes she grabs Tessa's hand and pulls her towards the rest of the group.

Esme looks over to Carol and Coral, nervous, biting her lip.
"....I...I'm not certain I undestand Tessa. I think, though, that we should move- hopefully we can find another a tear in reality nearby, and send the twins back. They don't look like they're doing so good." She says, biting her lip.
"I'm not going to let you destroy your soul for me, or hurt yourself, or... well, whatever it is. Do you understand? I know you want to serve, but you've gone up and beyond what has been required of you here- and there will be other times too. I promise that I'll be able to bring this god to destruction, but not if I don't know you're going to be safe."

Tessa sighed, a small smile tugging at her lips. Your divine aura seemed to be calming her mind. "You always were kind of... Dense love." Her laughter didn't last. She looked to the tent again. She opened her mouth to speak, slowly closing it after a moment's hesitation. She pointed to the tent. "The orb is in there... As much as I wish to treasure these few moments, duty comes first." She forced a smile, her head down as she began walking toward the tent.

The twins had recovered a bit now and were watching her with concern. Evangela hesitated before slowly walking forward, passing you on her way to the tent. She didn't say a word, her divine aura easily cutting a path through the snow. The twins followed a moment later, huddled close for warmth.

Tessa stopped in front of the door and looked back, waiting for you.

As Esme came close to Tessa, she suddenly grabbed the waiting sister by her power pack and yanked her from her feet. Properly trained in hand-to-hand combat, she makes sure that her victim is neither hurt nor able to make a sound.
"My dear, I'm not really in the mood to play games." the Exalted Martyr say as she places a hand on Tessa's armour, easily keeping the wounded sister down - even without using her powers." she gestures for the group not to enter the tent. "Emperor on Terra, what is your problem? Are you possessed? Solved that for Caramel. Did you die? Solved that for Alessa. What I can't solve is martyr syndrome." As Esme calms down she slowly points one outstreched finger at herself. "Exalted Martyr, right?" She waits for a reaction and then points at the downed sister. "Damsel in distress." pausing a moment before continuing "Now, unless you want SAINT Evangela playing confessor you better start talking. Fast."
Esme really hopes Evangela gets the idea that it's time for good sororitas, bad sororitas.

That you've been corrupted by it somehow?" She breathes in deeply, trying to calm herself down, to find the right words to express herself.
"Tessa- you are still the woman I fell in love with. Please remember that- and that I'm not going to loose you again, no matter what happens." She reaches into her pouch, and retrieves Tesa's eyepatch, offering it to her. "Whatever happens, you are still Tessa Cheviot, my sister. My love."

Looking helplessly to the other women, I gesture for us to head to the orb.
Maybe once we destroy it, I could get some straight answers out of Tessa.

I pull Tessa to me, and remove the dirty rag that she had tied over her eye.

It might not be a good idea to press Tessa for info right now. She's a tad fragile.

I think we can trust Tessa enough to be above doing something like that. If you recall from the previous chapter Tessa can be just as RIP AND TEAR as Florencia when she gets into the fight. I'm afraid she got herself killed. If thats the case I don't think OP is gonna make it as easy as it was reviving Alessa.

Tessa caught your shoulder before you entered the tent. "Steel yourself before entering, my love. I think I managed to kill everything in there but... Well you'll get your answer when you get inside."

She glanced once at Evangela and the twins before she pulled back the cloth covering the entrance and stepped inside. You followed her without question, the other sisters tagging along quickly.

The interior of the tent was very dark, only the faintest of outlines visible against the meager light seeping through the scattered holes in the cloth ceiling. The silhouettes of enormous objects, bleachers most likely, further decreased visibility. In the center of the ring was the orb, cracked and flickering.

You tensed as a deep male voice filled the tent, several blinding spotlights flickering to life from the rusted metal framework near the tent's ceiling, focusing on you. "Ah! My wayward performer returns!" two of the lights turned, highlighting a wispy, vaguely humanoid figure in the center of the ring. You had to grab Tessa's pauldron to keep her from charging. You blinked against the glaring light, your surroundings fading further into shadow. "And you brought guests this time! It's too bad they missed your show though. It was a real hit."

A quiet rustle that grew into applause, whoops, and cheers filled the tent before fading back into the eerie silence of the place, though there appeared to be no crowd.

"Though I do feel positively dreadful about starting early." His lips pulled back into a sneer. "Perhaps a summary of what you missed is in order?"

The quiet noise rose and fell again, though this time with a feeling of hushed expectation.

"You see your lovely friend here did a beautiful job! She danced for hours on end, dazzling all who saw her with her enormous sword that spat fire and thunder." He began to pace around the inner circle of the ring. "She entertained hundreds, all falling to their knees at her grace. Finally, it was time for the finale."

He stopped again, leering at you. "But I don't think she was ready for it." His statement was met with faint laughter, the spotlights on you turning to focus on a shattered section of the bleachers. "Needless to say though... It was hilarious to watch."

You heard the twins draw in a sharp breath, Evangela's wings rustling as she stiffened. It was Tessa. She was suspended in the air by an enormous piece of metal, the twisted remains of the bleacher had pierced her lower back, extending up and and out of her armor beside her head. Already the body was covered in a light layer of frost.

"My favorite part was watching her squirm, only to work herself further and further down onto the metal..."
