Sawako is unfortunately not tg related, unless someone's come up with a Kimi ni Todoke system.

BTW, if you have a system for Kimi ni Todoke, I WANT TO KNOW. Because it would be the most beautiful system on earth.

Could you make some sort of task resolution mechanic out of blowing soap bubbles? Like, maybe you set up a conflict, and two people have to contradict each other on how it's resolved, and then you both blow bubbles and the person who blows a bigger bubble, or whose bubble lives longer, gets to decide the outcome.

How the fuck do we make a slife-of-life anime into a system, a supplement, or a campaign setting? There isn't any dungeon crawling, no phat loot, no elves (a good thing I guess), and no fire breathing dragons.

What would be the rewards? What would be the obstacles and adversaries? And most importantly why would anyone play this game to begin with?

We need some way to make sure romantic misunderstanding happen. Maybe give other players the ability to spend points to narratively veto resolutions?

It needs a little more crunch, somehow.

I'm making this up as I go along, and I'm not sure where I'm headed with all of this, but what if your character sheet was composed entirely somehow numerically described relationships with every other player character, with numbers representing the depth or intimacy or trust of the relationship.

So a lover could be a 3, while a person you know from school could be a 5, provided you didn't feel like you could talk about certain things with the lover, for fear that he or she would stop being your lover, but the 5 shows you're such intimate and deep friends with that person that you're not afraid of telling them almost anything.

Okay, the catch is this - you don't get to see other people's character sheets. You know how you ranked your relationships with everyone, but you don't know how they ranked those same relationships with you.

Like I said, I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but maybe you're supposed to use the bubble mechanism to discover the true nature of the relationship you have with the other player characters, to see if they feel the same way about your character as yours does about theirs.

Oh yes, there HAVE to me romantic misunderstandings. But how do you give incentives to at the same time have romantic misunderstandings, and clear up misunderstandings of your own?

Maybe proposing a misunderstanding in someone else's relationship gives you a benefit at resolving your own?

But how do you give someone a bonus to resolving romantic misunderstanding when whether or not the misunderstanding is resolved is determined by blowing bubbles?

    HM!

What if the two people each get to blow three bubbles, and the winner is the last person with at least one bubble alive - but if you have a point you can spend on improving your chances of winning, you're allowed to pop one of your opponent's bubbles?

Dude! You get to blow bubbles in this game! Fuck yeah!

I have a few questions to everyone though:
How would you set up a conflict.
And how would one player contradict another until it's resolved.

I suggesting rolling a pair of dice for the latter question.

And suggesting a somewhat similar system from Panty Explosion for the conflict. The GM sets-up the scenario and the other players propel it along.

My vague idea is that you get to blow as many bubbles as you have Trust in that person, and they represent your willingness to not immediately assume the worst possible interpretation from the misunderstanding.

So weak relationships where you don't trust the other person are more likely to result in any misunderstanding registering as "OH MY GOD, THAT BITCH WAS SMILING AT A GUY, I BET SHE'S CHEATING ON ME" rather than "Oh, I guess he must be her brother or something".

You're blowing (rather than rolling) against the size of the misunderstanding, which is determined...hm. By the difference in Trust levels in the relationship?

Maybe one player declares that players 2 and 3 have different levels of trust, and then players 2 and 3 have the misunderstanding, which is either resolved easily (because the trust differential is small) or not at all.

If Player 1 was right, he or she gets a pat on the head. If Players 2 & 3 were very close in estimating the nature of their relationship, they get the pat on the head, which can be used to probe Player 1.

I'm...a bit unsatisfied with the adversarial nature of this.

Opposed bubble blowing to resolve everything! If your bubbles accidentally hit someone else at the table, then romantic misunderstandings occur!

    >>14000396
    Yes. Excellent.

    Less numbers, more bubbles.

Also, the ultimate secret technique that makes you win the game forever is if you can soap up your hand and catch a bubble on your palm.
    >> Anonymous 02/22/11(Tue)17:37 No.14000462
This is adorable. I love you /tg/. Never change.
    >> Anonymous 02/22/11(Tue)17:41 No.14000509
The only risk I can see with this system are that the players might end up just mucking about blowing bubbles more than anything else, though that seems like half the point, and it isn't really that much of a bad thing anyway.
    >> Anonymous 02/22/11(Tue)17:46 No.14000561
If the players are having fun, you've already won.

    >>14000583
Do we really need a PDF? I started complicating stuff with talk of guessing relationship trust numbers, but I think
    >>14000396
said it best, we need to stick to the core values of Bubble RPG. Which is to say, bubble blowing.
    >> Anonymous 02/22/11(Tue)17:56 No.14000662
    >>14000610

I like the idea of having some kind of relationship/trust number or whatever, and only the players (and GM (or BM? For Bubble Master?)) know how they feel about other people, which can lead to some very weird situations when a romantic misunderstanding occurs between 2 people who have the same trust number for each other...
