For saving the worker, you get a new skill.

Next, pick two from the following list. I'll take the first combination that gets 3 votes.

    Athletics [Basic]
    Firearms [Basic]
    Vehicles [Basic]
(Feel free to suggest new Basic skills)
    or
    Any Basic Skill [Specialty]

You can upgrade a [Basic] skill with a [Specialty] in that skill, as per the following examples.

    + Mechanics [Automotive]
    + First Aid [Lacerations]
    + Athletics [Climbing]
    + Dinosaur Knowledge [Specific Species]
    etc.

[Basic] skills are not required to attempt actions (i.e. you can still drive a car under normal circumstances without Vehicles [Basic]), but it will make more difficult actions easier to attempt or lessen penalties or failures. [Specialty] skills further this.

Additional [Basic] and [Specialty] skills will be largely chosen by the players, and will be acquired as you progress through the story or gain experience in an area.

WHY would we want to know about the stegos? Let's pick an animal we're likely to run into frequently.

Also, we're a mechanic. I say upgrade that skill. It'd be hand to be able to repair our car if it gets damaged.

I agree about firearms, though, we're a lousy shot.

Sorry, you said 2 in your first post.

    1) Radio it in that the Raptor is tranqed and still alive. Ask if any extra darts would be helpful to make sure it stays down until a DRT is out there.

    2) Anyways, talk to the guy through the wall. Say you just used the crossbow on the Raptor and put a few tranq darts into its neck. Assure its down since you saw a single tranq take out a that larger dino from the day before at the turbine.

    3) Try and calm him down and find out what happened.

    Done for now.

    >>14077979

I agree with this, but I say put an extra dart in the raptor to be safe, and don't even ask about that. Just ASSUME that's a good idea. Dispatch might not like it, but I doubt the DRT guys will fault us.

I agree with all of this, but I also say that while we call out to the guy, we go shut the door to the cargo area. We only SAW three raptors enter the place on the security footage, we don't know for sure that's all that's in here.
    >> Emergency Chair Warmer 02/28/11(Mon)18:03 No.14078076
    Firearms [Basic] it is.

You shoot an extra dart into the twitching raptor, ensuring it's not going to be able to wake up anytime soon. The thing smells like blood and dead meat, it's slightly nauseating.

We should secure the rest of the place if the guy happens to be dead. Then work on getting that door open to get he's shotgun.

If he's alive, get him out here if he's stable. If not, leave the guy, call dispatch about the situation.

And if we get off this island I'll be the first to say that we should tell the world about this and get as much proof of this as we can before we leave, to get those assholes fired and hopefully get some actual regulations put in place, or better yet have cloned dinosaur zoos banned.

But until then, we need their help so it'd be good to keep on their happy list.

Alright, are the wires on the taser-bow sturdy, or thin and fragile?
If sturdy, we remove the batteries and fire bolts at the raptor body in the tank and at Frank's corpse to attempt to drag them to where we can haul them up out of the tank.
If they're flimsy, we tie the more sturdy wire we have to the bolts and do as above.

    >> Anonymous 02/28/11(Mon)20:17 No.14079638
The storage room may very well have spare filters in it and coming in from this side is likely more safe than walking, blindly, through a plant that very likely has at least a few more dinosaurs walking around in it.

Not to mention that tranquilizer doesn't last forever, and if we spend too long wandering around, that raptor is going to come to, and come traipsing after us.

There also might be rope or cable in the storage room to dredge the corpses out of the water with.

It's a good idea to at least check and if there's nothing in there of use, we've not wasted as much time as we would wandering around in this likely dangerous building.

You didn't rebut the need for a filter, which we've been told to replace and don't have, currently. So, we're either going to have to wander around the building looking for one, or break into the storage room and hope there's one in there. The storage room is safer.

To the mention of walking around, someone mentioned there maybe being another entrance to the storage room from the other side. We'd have to walk through the building to find it.

There's also the chance of there being other things in the storage room that could help us with our current problems, like rope or cable to drag the corpses out.

    You're reaching. Or just can't, won't, or didn't read.

The important question is what are we going to fish the bodies out WITH?

The only thing we've got right now is the taserbow, and I doubt that the wire has the strength to pull out a 200+ pound human and Raptor corpse. Plus, we'd risk breaking a valuable weapon.

I mean, isn't the point of having a storage room is to have a place to store the goddamn parts and equipment needed to keep the facility running?

Not the person you were responding to, but another wondering why we're so concerned with the supply room.

I concede the need for a replacement filter, but ask why there wouldn't be a quick-change spare near the filters currently in use.
Besides, if the building is secured already, walking around inside of it won't be dangerous. If the building is not secured, then why would we want to create even more noise by breaking down the supply room door, before securing the building.
And if there's another dino already in here, then it won't matter; the sounds of this fight would have already attracted it, and it would be on it's way to the cargo room.

Because of safety concerns. If it falls into the tank or gets damaged from not being out of the way in a storage area it gets ruined. Comes down to, "we can't/won't afford to replace these more often than we have to, keep them somewhere where they won't get broken."

Both good points. We don't know whether it's actually secured, do we? Nothing's shown up yet, but you never know, it might be far enough away to not have heard the scuffle, or might be stalled or lost.

It's definitely not a good situation, but we have to do something. The filter is the more pressing concern, since we don't know where one will come from or if there will be any near where they get put in. But, to get started with that, we need to get the bodies out, which is why I voted for that
    >> Anonymous 02/28/11(Mon)20:45 No.14079936

Alright, you decide to ignore the storage room for now and head up to the catwalk to the water tanks. You notice that the tank next to the bloody one has a black smudge in it. The two bodies in the bloddy tank are floating just in front of the catwalk, they smell very bad.

Swim over to the bodies and tie the wire form the forklift around them. The waters already bloody, our own bodies won't be adding to the stuff. Then use forklift to pull the bodies out. If I've been reading things right, the doors are locked so I suggest we not bother with decency and leave our clothes before the swim, so that we can have them dry when we get out.

    Check the black smudge.

As for getting the bodies out, if they're close enough to the catwalk to reach, bring them in closer, tie one end of strong wire to an appendage, pass the wire around the handrail as an improvised pulley, and pull them up onto the catwalk.

If they're too far to reach, tie a strong wire to a bolt on the taserbow, remove the battery to prevent accidental electrocution, shoot a body and reel it in using the strong cable.

    Wire lasso.

Make a loop, get loop over body, fish body to edge of tank, try and lift body.

If the body is too heavy to lift, let's break into the store room and look for rope or something.

Easiest way to get into a locked door with a forklift is to drive the forklift so you've got one tine resting gently against the bolt side of the door frame, and angled to push frame away from door.

Then you back up a foot and ram the door frame.

Frame gets pushed far enough to let the door swing free despite bolt.

Easy to fix again later too.

    Shotgun into dufflebag.

    Any other goodies lying around?

A fire extinguisher would be nice for Compies.

As you pick up the duffel bag, you notice it feels heavy. The tag on the strap reads DANIEL RYAN.

Alright, I say we stuff the shotgun in the duffel bag, along with a can of WD-40, some rags, our taserbow, and some rope.
Then we take the duffel bag and the water filter back to the office. We fill the duffel bag with shotgun shells and taserbow batteries.
Then we actually do our job and replace the filter.

Inside you find a set of that chainmail stuff the security team you met at Maintenance HQ was wearing, it's got dried blood on the head. There's also an Orange Level Access card with it. In addition, there's a .44 magnum with a box of hollow points.

In the smaller compartment you find a letter addressed to Lewis Dodgson.

    >> Emergency Chair Warmer 02/28/11(Mon)23:21 No.14082082
The letter details Ryan's plan. It seems he had been well aware of the compys digging habits at the windmills. Standard procedure was to send a landscaping team in every week to fill in the holes. He stopped putting in those work orders. After that, he orchestrated a raptor breakout at the Velociraptor holding pens, which held six raptors at the time. The combination of power loss, dinosaurs breaking loose, and loose raptors was supposed to prompt Administration to pull guests and workers off the island in order to preserve human life.

    Pocket gun, card.

    Inform dispatch about letter.

Fuck the shotgun, buckshot doesn't have a fraction of the penetration of this .44 mag, and against anything bigger than person, the extra penetration is well worth the reduction in absolute wounding ability represented by the 24 pellets of buckshot in a shotgun shell.

No, wait, don't tell Dispatch about the letter yet.
    Go with this:
"Dispatch, I have confirmed 2 raptors dead, 1 tranqed and ready for transport. Any more on the loose I should watch out for? They tend to hunt in packs, right?"
    >> Anonymous 02/28/11(Mon)23:26 No.14082148
Yeah, let's take the revolver. Easier to conceal, more stopping power... Keep the letter and the card... should we take the chainmail? I think so. Radio dispatch about the letter.

    Never mind then.

Take Ryon's nametag off of the duffle, stash letter, don't tell dispatch about letter.

12 gauge slugs are better, I was assuming the shotguns had buckshot though, and buckshot doesn't have very good penetration, so it's a bad idea to use it hunting dangerous game.

Tell dispatch about the three raptors (though they should already know about them, we told them about the 2 dead ones last session, they told us to capture the 3rd one as they send a DRT to the Plant).
