    " So, we're agreed then?
Tell dispatch about the three raptors (though they should already know about them, we told them about the 2 dead ones last session, they told us to capture the 3rd one as they send a DRT to the Plant).
Grab the guns and all ammo, put them and the letter back in the duffel bag.
Wash the chainmail, and maybe put it on?
Finally do our job and replace the filter."

You grab a filter and take it to the room containing the pipeline. Inside is a pipe connected to the tanks in the other room. In the middle of the pipe is a section of 5 filters placed next to each other and locked into place by metal struts, with a crank wheel at either end of the filter section.

Going back to grab more filters, you return and get to work. You close off the water flow and unscrew the filters. All of them are very crimson. You replace the filters with the clean ones and anchor them into place. After making sure they're properly in place, you unblock the water. No leaks.

For replacing the water filters, you have gained the skill Mechanics [Maintenance].

The problem is that we don't want to explain how we found it in Ryan's duffel bag, because we don't want to give the bag, or the other goodies it contained, up.

I was thinking that when we search around the Maintenance Shed again, the letter 'turns up', and we radio it in then.

    >>14092343
We should try to get a good knife and a pair of heavy-duty scissors when we can.

Now, as for the tarp; can we cut a section big enough to cover the hole, while still leaving enough to hide the rocket launcher?
    If so, do it.
If not, then let's just go on our way.
    >> Anonymous 03/01/11(Tue)19:58 No.14092407

I got a better idea. We take everything we WANT out of the duffel bag, and leave in any of the stuff we don't INCLUDING the letter. When we get to maintenance HQ we go to whoever is in charge of the security team we last saw there.

We show him the bag and the letter. I think we can trust those guys. Plus, THEY will know how to get the letter to the Chief of Security.
    >> Anonymous 03/01/11(Tue)19:59 No.14092417
    >>14092391

I don't think we can cut a heavy tarp with a hacksaw, wirecutters, OR a pocketknife.

    >> Anonymous 03/01/11(Tue)20:11 No.14092541
Okay. What all was in Ryan's duffel bag again?

We get back into the Explorer, and we lock the doors, just to be safe. We unfold a large enough flap of the tarp to cut a piece to cover the windshield hole, while leaving the rocket launcher hidden. Then we take out our pocket knife and see if it can cut the tarp's fabric. If it can, we cut out a large enough piece and tape it in place with some of the duct tape we brought.

    Contents of duffelbag:
    -Orange Level Access Card
    -Chainmail
    -.44 Magnum
    - x24 .44 Magnum rounds (Hollow Point)
    - Letter to Lewis Dodgson

It's tough going, but you manage to cut out some material to cover the hole and duct tape it up. You wrap up the rocket launcher in the rest of the tarp and leave put it in the passenger seat.
    >> Anonymous 03/01/11(Tue)20:30 No.14092789
    >>14092674

Damn. That's all stuff we want.

Okay, choice time. Do we give up some good loot in order to expose Ryan, or do we keep the loot and lose a potential chance to uncover what started this all?
    >> Anonymous 03/01/11(Tue)20:34 No.14092847
    >>14092789
Orange security card we can keep in our pants pocket, so that's fine.
The chainmail, I think we can hide either under the tarp with the rocket launcher or under the seat of the Explorer. Ditto for the shotgun.
Then we can hide the Magnum and the bullets in the glove compartment of the car.

The only problem is when we need to switch cars.

Do we want to go with this, or keep the letter until a better opportunity presents itself.

Oh, just throwing this out there: shotgun shells will likely be easier to acquire, as they seem to be in most emergency weapons lockers on the island.
Magnum hollowpoints, probably not so much.
So if we have give something up, I'd rather lose the Magnum than anything else.
    >> Anonymous 03/01/11(Tue)20:40 No.14092922
    >>14092847

Except if we hand them Ryan's duffel bag, empty aside from the letter, isn't that going to seem a little odd?

Here's an idea. We still have Ryan's yellow access card, right? We put that in the bag and take the orange one. Hell, it's Ryan's card, isn't it? That'll seem natural. Then, we put the taserbow in the duffel bag, along with some of the batteries that go with it. We've got a magnum, a tranq pistol, and a shotgun, and the bow is kinda unwieldy. Plus, we have no bolts for the bow.

It'll be a little more convincing then just the bag and the letter. Everything else we do as you said.
    >> Anonymous 03/01/11(Tue)20:43 No.14092969
    >>14092922
Alright, that sounds like a reasonable compromise.
And if we get tasked to take down another big predator dino by Dispatch, we tell them to point us to the nearest weapons locker to pick up a new taserbow, since we left the last one back at the Desalination Plant.

I think this can work; let's do it.

We should give them a little pep talk before we head out.

"Alright guys, here's how it is. Things aren't great out there, and it's our job to keep them from getting worse. Last time I was out by the windmills I had to tranq a dilophosaur. With any lucky, the DRTs got him, or he woke up and wandered off.

That said, there's a lot of dangerous animals still on the loose, though thank Christ they should have the Rex secured by now. Stick together, keep your eyes peeled. One or two of these darts will take a a dino as big as a dilo down for hours, but err on the side of caution. If you have to tranq one of the critters, put an extra dart in it just to be safe.

This should be a straightforward repair job, but let's not take anything for granted. Let's do our jobs, do them well, and try to get back here before dark. Any questions?"
